This is a great place for French cuisine. It's very dark and heavy inside, so I prefer to go here when it's winter

This is now Maxwell's very good. Grill restaurant lively . Different things to try.
if you really want to treat yourself & your mate with a romantic dinner, this is the place. in the middle of covent garden you can escape for 3 hours to a charming world of good french food, excellent service & magic decor
Superb food and great ambiance. And dare I say it, very good value too
Wonderfully done decor, we went on our anniversary dinner and it felt very romantic. Service was excellent, very attentive and unintrusive. Food was excellent and incredibly good value. Overal, I would highly, highly recommend this place for any couples who want a romantic restaurant for any occasion!
Amazing food and service, the staff there are truly the most professional and caring in all of London. Whichever stunning main dish you choose you will surely have fond memories.
Truly romantic and service to match.
High prices and have to book well in advance but for the restaurant that keeps being voted the most Romantic in the world, it's what you'd expect.
Only downside was that everyone seemed to get a congratulations dessert which they seemed to miss for us (as we were there for a very special occasion) but we didnt go expecting anything anyway so all in all was a good meal.
Very cozy place. Food is amazing and very tasteful and the wine selection is beyond expectations. Definitely recommend this place.
Lovely place for a special occasion, pricey but definitely worth it. Romantic decor and feel all around, amazingly massive wine book and delicious well presented food. Very conveniently situated. Service was great too.
Worst experience so far in terms of fine dining (we came there on 23rd March 2019). Everything is spoilt by the service. For instance, the waiters are constantly interrupting conversations instead of being invinsible (sometimes completely unnecessary by offering bread for the second time, etc). But what did it for me was the handling of my potential future booking by the lady at the reception - we said we want to reserve the table in flower room at some point in future when it is available. She couldn t locate the available reservations for 5 minutes, then some people started to arrive / leave so we waited for good 10 minutes as she was quietly collecting / distributing coats. Once this was done she told us to wait more as she needed to run to the kitchen. Once she returned, she informed us that it is better just to book over phone and she won t be able to help us today. So we waited there in our coats for 20minutes for nothing. Not a great experience as you can imagine. Tip - don t go there for that price, too high price-quality ratio.
We had such a great time at Clos Maggiore. The staff was detail-oriented, very polite and efficient. The food and decoration looked amazing. Loved the entree, good portion for the main and my partner really liked his dessert. We will definitely go again for another romantic celebration.
Perfection! One of the best restaurants in London. Sitting at the conservatory is definitely a must for special occasions. The food is amazing, from starters to dessert. Their staff is friendly and attentive, very professional. Their attention into detail is great! Their wine selection is also really good.
Just perfect restaurant! Everything was good, the restaurant was beautiful, the servers, especially Franck, were very very friendly and professional. Go there with your eyes closed!
Had a romantic date here. The garden is cute. Vibes , food all good.
Ideal for a romantic dinner. One of those places where memorable things happen and you get only good memories.
Excellent food; very good service. Wine list was very extensive but struck me as over-priced, with few bottles available at costs below $50. U.S wines that you can buy for $12 were priced at $50 and above. Also, even though service added, credit card slip has line for gratuity and service not highlighted on bill. Easy to inadvertently tip twice for service.
Beautiful restaurant and soo romantic. We had a table in the conservatory next to the fire. The food was fantastic, would definitely come back.
Outstanding Service ! The starters of our seasonal tasting menu were fantastic. Really innovative selection of wines.
5 stars !
Great place for a romantic dinnee. Ask for the after theatre deals!
I booked Clos Maggiore over 4 months ago for a special Valentine's date with my partner on 18th Feb. I was hoping to secure a table in The Conservatory, but unfortunately for me this didn't happen. In any case, the reputation as the most romantic restaurant in London, surely we couldn't be disappointed ??.
After arriving early before our booking time, we were simply shown to the first available seats which were near the front near the bar !!!, no where near where I would imagine the atmosphere would be. Considering how far ahead I'd booked, I was hoping seating more closer to The Conservatory towards the center of the restaurant. It all felt a little impersonal and disappointing. As for a romantic evening, I've had far better. It never felt special considering the reputation of the restaurant. So as a Valentine's venue it was a total bust.
The food was nice, just simply nice and didn't offer anything that blew my taste buds off.
The service was impeccable though, couldn't fault it.
Would I recommend Clos Maggiore to anyone ??, probably not, since I found my experience decidedly average and felt there was no magic there.
A little bit of advice to the management, if someone books over 4 months in advance, they are not expecting seats near the bar !!, surely that would be reserved for diners who booked more closer to their date. Also thanks for ruining what should have been a very special night out, by doing the above.
Ordinary food
Very kind service staff
But there are also dissatisfied service personnel.
Asked about the restroom location
Obviously not wrong
The result was a male service staff with white skin, tall and thin, and curly black glasses.
Like the teacher teaches the student's face to tell the location
Let me be like the student who did the wrong thing, say sorry to him.
Provided by Xiao Si Kang after the main meal
Did not ask if you want
Directly taken away
Like most British restaurants
Pay cash, don't change
Even small money affects perception
Great experience, went for an after theatre meal. No snobbery at all, and was made to feel welcome. Great service, delicious food and worth every penny. Definitely deserves the crown as one of the most romantics restaurants in Europe. :)
Came here for a friend's birthday and we had hired the private dining room upstairs.
The good: The setting was beautiful. The decor in the restaurant was very nice, and the staff were lovely to us - to start at least! The food was also good.
If you have no qualms about spending an awful lot of money, then I'd recommend it, but it certainly isn't good value.
When you go somewhere with high expectations it is always a delight when the night is even better than expected. Beautiful venue whether dining in the restaurant or conservatory Cocktails and wine list spectacular and the menu superb. Staff attentive knowledgeable and discreet what is not to love?
Incredible experience, loved every minute - an anniversary dinner my wife will never forget! Thankyou for having us.
Condescending and gruffish waitstaff who belong in a pub not in a high-end restaurant.
A-M-A-Z-I-N-G EXPERIENCE!!!! The food is top notch and portions are perfect. The staff are extremely friendly and go the extra mile to ensure you're satisfied. Everything about this restaurant is exquisite. The atmosphere in the conservatory is splendid and adds to the fine dining experience. Be sure to try the fresh pappardella with truffle pasta, you won't regret it. Highly highly highlyyyyyy recommend!
We went to clos maggiore for my 30th birthday, I had a really lovely time. My husband had made a booking a year ago for the courtyard which is covered in fake flowers year round.
The food was delicious and it had some amazing non-alcoholic cocktails. The courtyard is small and intimate. When I went to use the bathroom upstairs I noticed there is an upstairs dining room which looked lovely and intimate too.
I didn t like the arm rests on the seats, would of preferred a seat with out them.
Service was good but it would have been better to only have one person responsible for seating us and seeing to us throughout dinner and at times it was difficult to get a drink. But overall I was really happy.
The food is very rich! Neither my husband or I had room for dessert which was a shame.
The environment of the restaurant is good but I feel really bad about the service as the waiters are quite rude. At my birthday, my friend asked whether we can use cameras to take photos upstairs and obviously the waitress and we misunderstood the point of each other that when we took photos there they really seriously told us not to do that. I felt that this was a very unhappy birthday experience and wanted to express this point to them but they never expressed sorry. So I feel the service is very bad me.
Incredible place, Ticked off the bucket list. We booked 3 months in advance as we were previously warned about the importance of sitting in the conservatory. I'm so glad we were prepared as it made the experience memorable. The food was very good and worth every penny. The wine list is extensive and beyond me but I enjoyed the red that was recommended. I would return in a heartbeat but I'm under orders that we can only go back for special occasions!
I booked a long time in advance from France for a romantic dinner with my wife, stating that I wanted the veranda room for a romantic dinner for my wife's birthday, except I received an email the day before to tell me that only the 1st floor room was available, he would have planned when I made my reservation or at the start of the week I would have canceled but there in England for the weekend with my wife I could not cancel and they warn late because the 'cancellation within this period is subject to charges taken from your cb left as a deposit. Dinner on the 1st floor with pitiful service, incompetent staff, my reservation was at 8:30 p.m. outside the pre-theater schedule and we were offered the pre-post theater menu and not the tasting menu or the wine was provided. , except after choosing white wine and red wine, the white wine was kept by the waiters to keep it fresh, except my wife stayed with her empty glass from the start of the main course to the end without being able to call them despite their stealthy passages in the room, at the time of the dessert removal the waiter asked us if it was for a specific occasion (a little late .....), at the time of the invoice, we see appearing more bottles of water , coca ligth that we have never consumed, had requested a rectification of the invoice, I do not know where this staff comes from but they are by no means used to standing restaurant services, really incompetent from start to finish and I don't say everything on the waiter who positions himself in the angel of the corridor to view the needs of the customers but who looks opposite the room and the coffee that we ordered arrived 20 min after the order, it was picturesque but real, I could not dine in this room but one thing is sure, I would not try this restaurant with these incompetent staff.
I am 49 years old and restaurants I have made, but it is the worst I have done in this standard.

Food was decent. Service was good. Made bookings for a table at the conservatory to celebrate my friend's birthday but of course it was fully booked!
The only major disappointment was after our meal, we wanted to have a look at the conservatory because really, how could we leave the place without checking it out?
So we were brought downstairs to the observatory and when we whipped out our phones for a picture of the conservatory, the waitress was quick to inform us no pictures were allowed of the diners and only of the flowers. We abided to her request of course when ANOTHER guy came to tell us NO PHOTOS WERE ALLOWED AT ALL. Now, isn't this double standard? First, your colleague allowed us to take a photo and now you do not allow us? Why not? We are after all patrons of the restaurant as well. My friend and I were deeply offended by that and we just left the restaurant feeling humiliated.
Now this restaurant is well known for the lovely conservatory and we just wanted a photo as keepsake. Now the whole experience was just ruined in an instance for us. I don't see a reason to not allow pictures to be taken when there are plenty of photos taken by patrons online so why can't we?
It's really proven to be double standard or was the guy treating us differently just because we are Asians? My friend visited the restaurant after seeing it featured on my instagram and she got to take photos INSIDE THE CONSERVATORY. Now what have you got to say?
Really, I'd highly recommend going to Pollen Street Social where the service and food are always consistent and impeccable and their attention to details is just amazing!
Dined here with a group of ~15 people. Fixed menu was scrumptious no and well executed for a large party. Staff was attentive, polite and knowledgeable about the menu items
Pretty setting. Imaginative and well prepared tasting menu. Extensive wine list. Very good service. Worth a visit.
Definitely the place you want to go for any anniversary or special days. (book in advance, they'll be calling to confirm a day or two before. Make sure you respond back for a good table.) If she's really upset with you and you want her to forget about it over delicious food, this is a top notch spot.
Absolutely amazing decor and the food was really good. The recommended wine was very good and suited the food well. Premium service.
Delicious food and romantic floral seating area. Their truffled mash tastes super smooth, silky and rich, it's the best I've tried ever!
Perfect dinner (the setting, the service, the food).
Stunning place, most beautifully decorated restaurant I've been too, food and service is outstanding and out of this world!
I thought that the food and wine were excellent, and service was good. It is exactly what you think it is.
Exclusive French cuisine. We loved their duck liver for starters. The main course was alright. But most importantly, the ambient is quite romantic.
Pretty good. Don't bother with discovery wine. Not worth it.
A great restaurant for a romantic evening or a pre/post theatre with inspiring dishes on the menu and a good wine list. Strongly recommended to impress your partner.
Such a beautiful restaurant to dine in! Beautifully decorated ceilings and a lovely log fire. Great place for a date night or special occasion. The menu and food were just as superb. Great helpful staff, very attentive without being fussy or on top of you. I would definitely dine here again.
Very romantic dinner place. Appropriate for anniversaries or if you wanna step up the game with your girl.
Out of this world amazing.... That's the best way I can describe our visit here and the food, as well as the service. My husband and I came here yesterday and it was literally incredible. The food was outstanding and had such good flavour combinations. The Espresso Martini dessert is easily the best dessert I've ever had! The atmosphere was beautiful, calm and welcoming and it was the perfect place to visit to celebrate a special occasion. The service was just as excellent and the man (unfortunately I didn't get his name) who recommended a bottle of champagne for us did such a good job to choose one to suit our taste buds. I would highly recommend a visit here, and would also recommend booking far in advance. Worth every penny and it has rightfully earned the title of most romantic (and most beautiful) restaurant in London.
They advertise themselves as a romantic restaurant and I want to confirm that. Interior looks great, weitres and staff are helpful and polite, they make you feel comfortable there. I love the whiskeys on walls and the wine selection. I'm sure you will find what you are looking for. Food - OMG I love the black Angus stake. It's in the pricey side but it's Covent Garden in the end. We went there with my wife for our anniversary lunch and the made this for us.
Beautiful restaurant, perfect for a birthday dinner. Incredible service and equally wonderful food.
Catered completely for vegans as well despite not showing on the menu.
Very beautiful, very romantic.. The meal is also good....
The lunch menu includes champagne, starters, main meals, desserts, and bread!
Exceeded already high expectations. We went in hoping for a lovely view (booked a table in the conservatory), which we got. We were blown away by the food and service. The veggie option was seriously good, too. Would visit again in a heartbeat.
Rarely I ate so well, this place I think deserves the reputation it has. The wine list is remarkably long, and service was very good. Location is fancy and worth a visit. Of course prices are accordingly high, but it is absolutely adequate to what you get.
I went through tasting menu experience and that was really excellent! Each dish had a different story of excellency and a unique aroma! The restaurant's ambiance was so romantic. Highly recommended for romantic dates or friends gathering.
Awesome place - recommend the tasting menu (with wine) if it's your first time here.
An expensive place with Gourmet food you eat very, very little. I ordered a Spanish wine to please my guests and they gave us a vinegary wine that there was no way to return. I will never go back It's a super expensive scam in London.
Excellent service and food. Pinot Gris a very good white and cheese selection most pleasing.
Amazing restaurant.
Went there whit my girlfriend,
The staff was exceptional
Very friendly,polite and professional.
We went for the seasonal tasting menu
All the food was excellent!
Definitely recommend!!!
As reservation of the first floor was already full, it was seat of the second floor, but atmosphere on the second floor was good and there was distance with people of other seats, too and was able to calmly eat. It was delicious and special time.
Excellent food. Book 8-12 months in advance if you would like a good table!
Holy Moly, the Mashed Potatoes are just incredible. Do your best to get a table in the garden area; the front of the restaurant is not nearly as lovely as the back.
The Sommelier tricked us and food average!Atmosphere was good, the setting is fantastic, however I wouldn't call it romantic, the food was average and way below our expectations and didn't match the price of the bill. The staff was good, even though the receptionist can come across as cold and a little rude. Then after being recommended a bottle of Bordeaux 2009 by the sommelier, he showed us the bottle, went away and came back with a bottle that he pretended to open in front of us, the tag was then reading 2008. I found that very unprofessional, he clearly wanted to get rid of that bottle he had opened for god knows how long ... not impressed!
Food was great, the service was bad. Servers were snobby, they weren't attentive to our table and kept forgetting our orders. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone even though the food was good. If they don't smile they won't see me again.
The vibe is romantic. Honestly nothing amazon about this place
Lovely site Romantic. Delicious food. A whole for the palate and smell.
A very good restaurant that I highly recommend. Romantic and warm atmosphere. Very attentive waiters and a very good meal. A must-see address in London
Yikes. Was so excited to finally visit this restaurant but not satisfied. Everything was good except for the food. Food was mediocre. Not worth spending all that money. Salmon was over cooked and dry. Very disappointing. Will not be coming back.
Nice restaurant, but only go if you know you are going to be in the main dining room. Upstairs dining room is dead silent and a bit awkward. Menu and service are top notch.
Beautiful room and surprisingly delicious foods, services are also great.
EXCELLENT, food, OUTSTANDING, service, had s birthday day there ,, what an EXPERIENCE
Absolutely delicious food and an amazing atmosphere to go along with it.
Amazing meal! The yellow tuna tartare was amazing as an appetizer while my wife really enjoyed the beetroot with burrata.
The Scottish salmon with caviar was cooked to perfect and then berry mousse was an amazing mix of textures. Even the cheddar cheese puffs were exceptional.
I see now what all the hoopla is about. :)
Amazing customer service and of course the location was extremely welcoming.
Food? Mmm they need to revise the menu, no ideas and very basic combination .
Food was good but not special. Service was not at the level expected for the restaurant which spoiled the experience. Too expensive for what it was.
Lovely cosy restaurant we were lucky enough to sit in the middle of the conservatory type part. Lovely vegetarian starter and amazing truffle mash. The portions are generous so don't get carried away with ordering sides (we did and couldn't finish!) Service was very good, attentive and friendly staff. Although may be perceived as expensive the food is well worth the money
Superb ambience & service with some of the best food I've eaten in London and with an enormous wine list for the afficiados. Rightly very popular so book ahead and enjoy.
Been going to this restaurant for over 10 years (ever since my 18th birthday!)... Whilst the service is impeccable and atmosphere lovely... The food and overall experience is no longer as amazing as it maybe once was. I worry that being voted "most romantic restaurant" has unfortunately ruined what was once a truly magical restaurant. Now there is booking months in advance... Being given a 2 hour slot in which to eat before you are (politely) asked to leave... People are crowded together waiting in the "lounge area" at the front of the restaurant for people to finish their food and leave... You can feel the tables being turned around you... which definitely dampens what was once a little slice of heaven in the middle of Covent Garden. Such a shame.
Excellent service, we went for our anniversary and it was just fantastic.
We booked the table for 5pm, arrived 15min early and were told to wait until 5pm, even though the table was free. The waiter had been 'reminding' us that our table is booked for 7pm ever since we were sat down, and he was very rude during the entire service. Destroyed the whole thing.
The interior is not big, even a little crowded, the flower dome is beautiful, and the food is amazing! First-class service
