One of the nicest stores to lose yourself in. Enjoy the tranquility, endless choice and good coffee and be inspired by a book of your choice.

Really a great bookstore consisting of 5 floors, beautifully decorated. They also have lots of soft chairs and sofas to seat and look through their books, a small cafe inside, where you can have coffee while reading and a big table for hosting book events there. All the staff is friendly and helpful. They also had cookies near the cashbox :)
The range of books is really wide and various, we were really impressed by the assortment of books in foreign languages and second-hand books. The salesmen also offer to wrap up anything you buy.
I really like this store and visit it every time when I'm in Amsterdam.

Very spacious store with a huge selection. Lectures / signing sessions take place regularly. And as befits a bookstore today, there is also coffee.

One of my favorite bookshops! They have many books in different categories and there are places to sit and read.
You can buy books on each floor and the people who visit the place are not too noisy :) good atmosphere.

The biggest bookstore in Amsterdam, Scheltema is a wonderful place to visit. Browse through the new books, secondhand books, comics and magazines and relax with a cup of coffee in the in-house coffeeplace.

Massive multistory bookstore my favorite in A'dam by leaps and bounds For English speakers, there is a decent selection (English books are here and there in the nonfiction sections, in addition to a dedicated fiction section). Great cafe AND a rather good selection of used books way upstairs. This is my haven in the center!

Snooping around and often walking outside with a nice book. Wonderfully spacious, one of the best bookstores in Amsterdam. Lots of bargains too. Only downside: it is difficult to get down and there are too many different levels.

Excellent multi-storey bookstore in this building in central Amsterdam, you can reach by Train, Uber, Bike, or SP2 (on foot).

Do not come here on the Saturday before Christmas .. Staff due to the crowds also not particularly friendly.

Nice big bookstore, they have alll the genres you can think of. The young adult section is quite small, and the English scifi and fantasy could be bigger too. The coffee corner is really nice, coffee tastes good and the pies are delicious. If you want to go to the upper floors, you'll have to go through the entire store, which is not a big problem but there's lots of tiny stairs throughout, which you'll have to take care of. Overall, a really nice bookstore.

Great shop to browse around for hours. Service is all make in order. There is even a cozy coffee spot where the coffee is also of good quality.

Really a great place to let your dreams come true in books and a cup of coffee with cake, but you can also get good breakfast and lunch there. The books themselves are of all shapes and sizes. So everyone can feel welcome there.

It used to be a high point for books in both Dutch and English. Since it moved to a.more stylish building, the selection of books availble seems to have diminished and become more boring.
