Good well-kept bookstore with a wide selection and friendly staff
Fortunately, they still exist. The bookstores where you can first browse around before you buy carefully selected gems.
Very nice and big bookshop in the center of Amsterdam. A lot of choice both in Dutch, English and other languages.
Very nice, well informed and helpfull staff in what is probably the largest bookstore in Amsterdam.
Book ordered and delivered by bike a few hours later, what a service!
Less complete than the real old Scheltema on the Koningsplein, but still a top book store.
Everything you need when looking for books. They have an excellent coffeecorner with good cappuccino!
A huge book store with lots of books in different languages. Pretty much anything you are looking for they have. A nice coffee shop inside on the 3rd floor as well
If you like books then you have to be here! Super nice new store with friendly staff. And nice places to dive away in your favorite book. Recommended!
Great bookstore to find a small selection of Spanish, French and German books that I haven't found elsewhere in Amsterdam. Large selection of books and magazines in English. Most of the inventory is in Dutch, so if you're looking for that you'll surely find it here.
If you are in Amsterdam and you like reading, then this is a great combination with a museum! Have a great day! I certainly do! And you can also drink a nice cup of coffee or tea, of course, they also have some goodies with it.
Great collection of books, friendly and knowledgable staff
Good range of books and it is great to have a cafe. A good place to meet and discuss literature at the long tables, too. But the escalator noise is a big distraction! Otherwise I would have given 5*****. The lift makes this bookshop more accessible than most in the city, as it has a lift.
You can eat here and stare at the people on the Rokin. Book titles mainly consist of the DWDD top ten.
A true book store! Magnificent! Sublime! Beautiful!
A great store where you can actually find everything.
There is a section for vintage books and documents at the top floor! Great if you like oldtime stuff!
Great selection of books. Great staff, very friendly. Close to Dam/Centraal. Great coffee shop. And a deliciously soothing atmosphere away from the madding crowd. Bliss!
Huge range of books, in other languages, seats, food and coffee. Heaven on earth. Recommended for all book lovers.
Great staff, they are all super nice and happy to help you. A lot of books, it is all neatly sorted and easy to find, if your book is not listed, an employee will be happy to help. There is also a nice cafe and many events are organized for young and old to enjoy.
Very large bookstore, which Dwarsliggers also offers. The staff was consistently friendly and helpful. Multilingual too. The selection is just great. Top price. Just great. Large second-hand department above.
Very many kinds of books, so there is something for everyone anyway. I needed a book about QUEEN and luckily they had one!
Good choice of books a nice bigger library in Amsterdam!!
At Scheltema the staff is very helpful. I also bought a very nice book from VanGogh. Normally it costs 25 euros, but at Scheltema it costs 10 euros ... This is a nice bookstore with nice chill corners where you can sit (and drink coffee).
Extensive and diverse range of books, something for everyone. In other words, a literary candy store with quiet spots everywhere to taste.
Amazing! The best book store in Amsterdam. What else does one need to say
Brilliant book store! Very friendly people ... Incredible offer!
There are not so many book stores in Amsterdam anymore. This is a big one and let's cherish it. Today there was a steam locomotive in honor of the new book by JK Rowling for the beautifully decorated facade.
The bookstore is characterized by a wide range and there are places everywhere where you can sit to view your (possible) purchases or read the newspaper. A major disadvantage is the prevailing noise from the escalators! For a bookstore that is disastrous, nowhere a place where you can find peace!
Big book store, very quiet. It has a coffee corner at the second floor and quite some English novels
Enormous selection of books, spread over 4 floors. For each his own. Nice, inviting store ...
Largest bookshop on the spui in Amsterdam. The coffee takes a while, but who is in a hurry in a bookshop?
Even though the previous establishment had a better atmosphere, it remains a great bookstore!
Scheltema at Rokin in Amsterdam is a party for a book lover. Large assortment and nice sitting areas to first read the books in peace.
Very bad service, I ordered a book and still got nothing after more than two weeks. Written an email and received a weak answer. Very bad, I would go to another bookstore.
Well organized and with a good variety of languages.
Enormous bookstore in the heart of Amsterdam - I have a soft spot for this place because I ran a writer's group on the top floor among the secondhand books for a year and a half, and have some wonderful memories of this place. Kind of like Borders used to be! They've got pretty much everything - massive selection in English as well as Dutch.
I could spend the whole day here. What a huge amount of books. A nice atmosphere and employees who advise you well, you get to the bargain.
Excellent library, nice staff and excellent books in all languages, it was so pleasant that we spent two hours between chess and reading.
Whenever you need a bookstore in the internet age and even their own same-day delivery isnt fast enough this is Amsterdams greatest bookstore to find a book in whatever category you're looking for.
Great bookstore. I don't think you can walk out without a book or related article. Beautiful building in the heart of Amsterdam. And they have delicious coffee and a toilet. Very nice because you like to browse the books for a while.
Very well-organized store with lots of choice. Nice coffee on the second floor and in a central location.
Its a 7-th heaven for all bookwarms. Plus the perfect location, plus very helpful and attentive staff.
Amsterdam's largest bookstore. Located just off the Dam square. A very good selection of books & a pretty good cafe.
A very beautiful bookstore with many floors full of books. The cafe smelled great but I didn't have the time to eat there. I came here for a book for a Dutch class and found it easily among stacks of other language books.
Great store. Very big. Vey friendly. Great place to work or just sit down to read. One minus point - there are hardly any electricity outlets. Maybe one per floor and not often close to the sitting area
Nice and very decent bookstore, and very big of course. Friendly staff
One of the biggest and best bookstores in Amsterdam
Wonderful store where you can spend hours and work. Good coffee!
This bookstore is wonderfull they have a lot of books
Wide selection of books in Dutch-from history, science and literature for kids, teens and adults.
Bookstore on Rokin Street, beautiful. It has several floors and per floor you find two or three genres. Good variety of authors, titles, versions in several languages and discounts. The area of comics is set for children and next door there is a cafeteria very comfortable. I find the reading culture they have in Amsterdam nice because the cd. It was quiet on Sunday and upon entering the bookstore, it filled as a super market :). Upon leaving, I came across a sculpture by Mark Manders that I leave in my review.
Nice accessible store. Good tips from staff. Wide selection of books
Goede service, alle dozen nagezocht naar ons boek dat net was binnengekomen en gevonden.
excellent, versatile and beautifully decorated bookstore. Nice ramsj department. Staff are friendly and know what they are talking about. Heart for books.
cozy, great selection of books in different languages
The dutch 'Waterstones'. Nice selection of books, and a coffee bar inside
