A must-see stop for book lovers. Five floors of books total with interesting views from the higher floor windows looking east. Four floors of new books in all categories, remainders and a well curated selection of used books can be found on the top floor. (I especially liked the second hand children's picture books in foreign languages). Several departments have ample tables to spread out your finds on. There is a cafe as well.

Still Amsterdam's largest and best-known bookstore. Great selection of fiction and non-fiction books in Dutch, English and several other languages. You can spend hours browsing through books and magazines on several floors. There's also a self-service computer to order books online for pickup in the store, and cafe Vascobelo.

No shortage of good bookshops in this part of Amsterdam. Some have survived for a long time. Scheltema at the current location, is still relatively new. The range of titles is not to blame!

For this address you have to pull out at least one part of a day because searching for books is one party here. Everywhere are corners and coffee bars.
Friendly staff.
And Amsterdam is happy with the return of this iconic bookstore!
