Amazing decor, awesome steampunk-dressed staff, quirky menu item names and great presentation. Great vibe, great music, great coffee. What's not to love?
tried this place again... coffee still very good. The food was terrible. The brioche roll as described on the menu was a regular bun which should have been tossed out last week.... very stale. Avocado was under-ripe. I did complain and the manager duly apologised and proceeded to blame everyone else (suppliers, new menu etc). The simple meal also took at least 30 mins to arrive. No offer of a discount or similar, despite an almost full plate leaving the table...overall a very poor experience.
Seriously the best coffee shop in Cape Town and ever.
I m sorry but literally the worlds beat coffee shop. How they ve blended production & consumption should be studied!
Great service. You have to admire their commitment to the Steampunk theme. Coffee lives up to the hype. The breakfast I had was great too. I am going back there.
Coffee was delicious!! Nice vibe and awesome decor too.
Whaouw! Super good and trendy steampunk cafe! You should have seen it!
The coffee at Truth is out of this world. Great service, amazing food amd a really good vibe.
Had awesome food there, very good coffee, truly unique in every aspect, highly recommended for the coffee connoisseur!
Not bad, but completely overhyped. Have had much better coffee elsewhere.
Even if you do not like coffee this place is worth a visit. Quality brunch spot presented by people who love their jobs. Good service, coffee was 100s, enjoyed the tour afterwards. Come teach London how coffee should be made!!
Best flat white in Cape Town. Hands down, no doubt about it.
The aesthetic is incredibly appealing, especially to any who obsess over cyberpunk and steam punk vibes! Always busy with awesome staff members and bonified heavenly coffee. Prices range from R32 - R45 a cup, so be prepared to pay a little extra for the great quality. Their potion coffee is also a great refresher!
Be sure ready to wait a few minutes to be seated, but once you are, you won't want to leave! One of the best coffee experiences you can have in Cape Town.
Best coffee shop ive been too. Most intriguing decor. You guys rock!
Lovely Saturday morning experience. Bit on expensive side but nice as a treat
I dont get the hype, the coffee is average and its generally over priced like the other cape town yappie places. Nice decor.. But yeah
Really a unique experience. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the area .
Massively intricate and beautiful temple to coffee. Industrial/Steam Punk decor teamed with friendly staff that know their stuff and some of the best coffee I've had, sweet without sugar and well rounded on the palate. Coupled with great cake and good beer (local craft) on tap. Prices a tiny amount above your average coffee shop but for the level of goods and service relieved you walk out of a good deal. A must see in Cape Town.
I am SO HAPPY I heard of this place through a friend, and I could visit in my last day in Cape Town.
The atmosphere is vibrant! The decoration and outfit of the waiters is amazing, the food and drinks presentation, flavor AND price just made me even happier haha.
I wish I would have had more time to spend there, the benedictine eggs were amazing! The variety of coffee, tea and drinks was outstanding.
I will surely visit again when I come back to the Cape.
If you are around, go!
PS. Loved the name, would like to know the story behind the name.
Heard it was good and was sceptical but after the first sip, I struggled to leave. Staff are friendly, professional and know what they are doing at all times. Damn good coffee!!!
Very cosy. Good spot to meet people or clients. Coffee is gooood!
What a great place! Definitely recommend that you try it. Waiters we're amazing, coffee to die for and the food sublime!
Asked for one of the many small and free tables up front. Floor manager sends me right to the back of the room as I'm on my own. Sit and wait here for 15 minutes (!) With no waiter in sight. About to leave. One arrives. Addresses me as "girl" (thanks-I'm a more than grown woman). Too late to order lunch. Manager did eventually apologise, but sorry - a little too late. Guess when fame gets to some businesses' heads... Used to be a great place.... heading off to a different place next time.
Cool vibe and easy parking. The cakes / deserts are well sized and the coffee is amazing.
Includes a barristas course for coffee lovers. A bit noisy for meetings but lovely for chilling.
Such a cool place!!! Dig how it is styled!!
Amazing Coffee!
The amount of thought that went into this steam punk design is incredible. Even how they roast the coffee has completely blended into the design and has become a centre piece. They offer some twists to the traditional coffee drinks which melds with the theme and the food was decent as well. Not the traditional single origin small coffee shop, but once you visit you understand how it received so many five star reviews.
Best coffee in Cape Town. It s a must see. Fully recommended.
Although rated as the best coffee one can get, the redeeming factors were its ambience and food. The coffee is burnt and tasteless.
Coffee is great. I'm afraid it's only for the tourist pocket and unaffordable for everyday pitstop
One of the best coffee places I've been to and the atmosphere is increadable.. Most friendly staff
I don't understand what these good reviews are about. I went a few times due to the recommendations because I really had my hopes up but no one. Bringing wrong orders, not bringing change and just simply overpriced barely mediocre coffee. The service isn't up to standard and I'm just annoyed that I wasted my time.
Was a new coffee experience. Will definitely visit again.
One of the best cafes in South Africa. While their coffee is outstanding, it's not "the best in the world"! Definitely worth visiting, though - it's unlike anything else.
A solid choice for breakfast. The usual avo on toast and good coffee. The whole steam punk thing is what it is, no big deal
First off absolutely brilliant coffee! Pictures don't do the place justice, it's quite something to see first-hand. Service was fantastic, great buzz, staff were all dressed in the steampunk theme. Just wonderful! Can't wait to to come back to Cape Town and visit again. Well and truly worth it.
Love the steam punk theme. Amazing coffees. My habit for cold brews originated here. They also had lovely concoctions of coffee and orange. Unexpected but thoroughly enjoyable. A haven for coffee lovers.
Good vibe. Good service. Lovely coffee and food is good.
You can enjoy delicious coffee in a large store. The inside of the shop is dark. There was also a terrace seat.
There are abundant drink menus, and there are also coffee floats and so on.
It seems to be OK during the day, but when it gets dark it changes the surroundings and the security gets worse, so be careful, local Chinese learned.
On the second day of my visit to Cape Town I went this awesome coffee shop. Employees are so good and have good knowledge about coffee culture. While serving they always put a smiling on their faces. When in Cape Town it s a must-go place.
World class service. Black honey flat white the best I ever tasted. Superb service provided by an excellent host (too good to be called a waiter!). The tapioca porridge extravaganza was really an extravaganza! WOW.
Coffee roasting gods in a beautiful steampunk interior.
Try the breakfast, I did and loved it.
Couldn't get any better than this. This his is most unique place I've ever been. Best coffee in the Mother City.
Such an amazing coffee shop, the striking and engaging steampunk decor are backed up by an expansive menu of coffees and great brunch meals. What pushed this coffee shop over the top for me was their extraordinary dedication to their craft (advertised in easily readable tidbits on their newspaper-themed menus) and the Truth After Dark feature which showcases a selection of intricate and indulgent desserts/patisserie dishes curated by a chef from a Michelin Star restaurant.
They. Roast. Coffee. Properly. Best coffee shop in the world for a reason. Always a wait but well worth it. Service is prompt and friendly. Must visit!
The place has a special atmosphere, a wide selection of coffees
Fantastic coffee. Good food, just don't come too hungry. Portions are small.
Cool interior and friendly personnel. Really good and cheap coffee which is made there.
Most amazing ambiance. The place was packed and the vibe was vibrant. Had a demonstration by a barrister on how to make a pour over and espresso on an aeroexpress. This in itself was a 5 star experience. A little more expensive for coffee than other coffee shops at R38 vs R28-R30 other coffee shops but worth it.
I also think that having TRUTH printed on the inside of cup was very clever. As you sip, the truth is revealed.
A bustling coffeeshop that will peak your senses with their wonderful beans aroma. Will recommend to head there eary else you might need to queue for abit due to the crowd. Both tourists and locals flock there for their coffee. We tried their battlebrew, almond latte and a few more and they are all good. Their carrotcake and eclairs are nice too.
Excellent coffee but the service was mediocre, which detracted from the experience. The food was great and we'll presented.
Soothing coffee that flows effortlessly down your throat, leaving you wanting for more.
Great atmosphere, good service. Had an enjoyable breakfast and a very nice iced tea.
Amazed. This would be a 5 but unfortunately we had a really bad waiter. Definitely worth the visit!
Cafe with very nice style. You can choose from a huge variaty of different coffees. If you don't know what to choose, the personal is very friendly and helpful. Also the sweets are highly recommendable
.
THE COUPLE
If it weren't for the aroma of roasted coffee beans, Alex would never roll out of bed
THE COOKBOOK
A delectably smooth flat white coffee with a fresh handmade French almond croissant. Yes PLEASEEEEE

My job is to be a responsible citizen and business owner, and do the right thing, always. It's not about me, and it certainly not about getting a pat on the back for doing the right thing, it's about you enjoying a cup of coffee that's truly amazing. Fluff builds gravitas but a product needs to be able to stand on its own, and honestly, that's the TRUTH. The name I've picked for this establishment requires me to live up to it every day. ~ David @DavidDonde (Owner of @TruthCoffee)
Loved it. Breakfast was fantastic. If you don't like a coffee high in acidity, try one of the special blends. I found the default Resurrection blend slightly too acidic and not quite as bold as I like. My hubs had the spiced up Rooibos tea, it was beautiful - mild and fragrant.
Best coffee bistro in the world, great service, awesome staff.
Such an awesome place! Genderless bathrooms, superb food, great drinks, and friendly service. I really love coming here!
The enthusiasm and professionalism of the the staff (read Buntu and Josh) stood toe to toe with the amazing coffee and ambience. I see why this place is a hot. Will be back here.
Very interesting theme. Love the coffee - especially the 'Deep Dark and Twisted".
Love this place - great low-key vibe with attentive service, good food and of course even better coffee. Their menu alone is worth the visit. The overall steam-punk vibe takes it up a notch too. Love the open windows and light mist machines. Highly recommend!
Coffee is very good
Menu is not kids-friendly.
The place is very uniquely designed. The waitress who gave us a tour was very nice and informative and answered all my questions.
The place takes you back in time.
I ordered an item - misteken the description - and found out it's a raw beef meal after I received my plate. I asked if the chef could cook it for me but he refused.
I would have eaten it since it's my missunderstanding but I don't eat raw meat and it would've not hurt him to cook it!
The waiters clothes need cleaning.
May or may not come back, but for coffee only.
Good coffee to take away... I order at the table and the coffee was already cold
One of the best brownies I ever had. Coffee is delicious, staff is great and helpful. Bought single origin coffee beans for taking them home.
My very friendly waitress explained a lot about the different coffee varieties and gave me a free espresso to try before buying the beans. The menu is fun to read - containing a lot of information about coffee and the place looks cool as well.
Definitely a must-go place
Such a unique, photogenic, classy, and tasty coffee shop! The charm is dialed up at this store and it is a worthwhile experience. Coffee was flavorful and perfect with many options.
