Located down by the water at the end of King Street in Alexandria s Old Town, this is a great place to spend an hour or so exploring.

Set over three floors, the center displays art work from numerous local artists, from ceramics, to glass, paintings, sculptures, metalwork and photography etc. Not all galleries were open when we visited shortly before the New Year, but many artists were around and some were working. There s a wide range of items for sale, priced from cheap to expensive. It s the perfect place to pick up some unique, hand-made Christmas or birthday presents.

The center is open from 10.00 to 18.00 every day, three hours more on Thursdays.

The torpedo Factory Art Center is more of a gallery than a museum. There are a lot of artists workshops here so if you're looking to buy art or commission an artist this is the right place for you.

It is a wonderful afternoon you might get to spend here! While many of the artists are working, and I deeply respect that, others were very open to talking about their art and how they created it. I had so many interesting conversations, and was very inspired. A wonderful change for your mind! Oh, and we bought stuff as well.

This was a wonderful experience to see different types of original artwork and meet the artists in many cases. I did have one negative interaction with an artist who was on her phone, gave me no eye contact after she ignored me, I said hello twice and complimented what a beautiful dog she had. As I asked what kind of dog, she sharply snapped at me and said, "I don't know, he's a mutt!" I turned away and she was not at all interested in me as a customer. Her first name was Mary and she was down right rude. She's on the second floor. I hope she sees this as I'd give her a rating of ZERO!

Fantastic place filled with little "artists in residence". It's like they have their own little apartments and you can just walk in and watch them work. They also sell their works. Such a unique concept.

Really fun stop in Alexandria. Talk to local artists, purchase one of a kind art, and meet all kinds of dogs! They let dogs walk around and they are such good dogs. The art is fun as well and it's just a really cool place to go. Highly recommend.

Place for art lovers or artist to get inspiration! I loved coming here and checking out the new pieces that the artist are working on. Beautiful view in the back can see all the way to Maryland and your over looking the water.

What a unique idea! A whole building dedicated to artists studios. There is so much talent here, it's just sad that so many artists have closed their studios temporarily due to Covid, and some have closed permanently. I hope this wonderful place comes back strong soon!

Very interesting. Old reperposed torpedo factory. The art shops were varied, something for everyone. This place is located on the waterfront, park and walking area. There is a free shuttle from the metro stop. Located in historic old town Alexandria.

When all weapons are turned to art we will have peace. I love that they turned this old torpedo factory into a place for artists to work and show off their work. There's a wide variety of art and most of it's for sale. The artists are really friendly! They love talking about their pieces and inspiration but they also give you space, which I really respected.

I have frequented the torpedo factory over my years in DC and am happy and proud to have many great works of art from local artists because of that.

It's a great place to meet and get to know the artists and even see them doing their work. More recently, I'm really happy to see younger artists represented.

It is definitely a great place to visit. Even if only browsing.

This was a weird one. Supposedly, it was built in an old torpedo factory, and it certainly looked like it. From the inside, you'd think you were inside a ship. While it wasn't too terribly interesting for me, I did like the architecture.

Don't be fooled by the hours of operation, many of the galleries do not open at 10, most open at 11 or 12. And even those places that say they open at 10 don't have anyone opening at 10am! Even the coffee shop asked waiting patrons not to come in until 10:15.

I really love this place. IT's an awesome concept and has a huge variety of artwork. I really like how you can just wander around and see artists at work. Plus there's plenty of pieces for all budgets. Great location too. Can't wait to go back when the archaeology museum is open!
