This place is really cool. I love it when and old building is saved and repurposed. I enjoyed looking at all of the beautiful art, as well as reading about the history of the torpedo factory.

I always find something new here. It's such a coil place with galleries interwoven with working studios. You could have a scavenger hunt in this one building and you'd spend the whole day trying to complete it. I hope it never goes away.

About 80 artist studios, ranging from sales space to workshop (but at all you can buy art in some shape or form). Largely the artist her/himself will be there, quite a few working away on their projects.
There are bathrooms on every floor, if there is a long queue at groundlevel just go one floor up ;-)
There is two small cafes, but the food options in the factory are quite limited, if you hungry just step outside on the waterfront and there are restaurants.
The pictures below are from an artist I like who has a studio in the Torpedo Factory, Karen Fitzgerald.

Several dozen studios give you the opportunity to see art in a variety of media, styles, and price ranges. Sometimes you can watch the artist work. Easy to make a date out of it in Old Town.

I take classes at the Art League at the Torpedo factory and I really enjoy it! The classes are very informative and affordable. My only concern is the lack of street parking. Hence why I actually prefer to take Art League classes at the Madison Annex location.

One of my favorite spots on earth. I enjoy connecting with the artists. It's the perfect first date spot too. Just walk around and talk about art. Then go happy hour...if that first part goes well.

Great location, lots of interesting art. The boys enjoyed the archeology room where we put plates back together like a jigsaw.

There was a great piece of three passengers on a bus in vivid colored clothes. The glass of the window was covered in rain drops that appeared to have smiles. It worked for me.

This is a one time torpedo factory turned art venue housing 3 floors of art galleries. Even if you don't make a purchase, we found it interesting to stroll gallery to gallery taking in the artists creations! (There is no admission fee.)

LOVE torpedo factory. Such a unique experience all captured in one building. Yes, the prices can get steep here, but the art is lovely and handmade. The artists are on-site, so you can meet with them, talk to them, and ask questions if you feel so inclined. Out of all the times I've been, I've never even bought anything, but I just love to go and look at all the amazing artwork. Sometimes there are interactive exhibits and the building itself is a very neat (and extremely clean) place.

A great place to walk through during a visit to Alexandria. While most of the stuff is out of my price range, there are lots of nice trinkets that could be picked up at a reasonable price for gifts. It is also really fun to see the artisans working on their latest projects in studio!

Great Staff! Amazing View, Killer crab cakes yumm.... This place was on my list of places to visit for weeks. I was not disappointed. The energy here is so tranquil yet lively. I will be back within a week or so from N.Y!

Lots of good art, with something here for everyone to enjoy looking at. It is not all to one taste- certainly not to mine, and I feel that the eclectic mixture of styles and media strengthens the place. Some people are doing some fascinating things here.

A nice and unique experience. There are numerous artists of various art forms and their works are for sale. I saw a few items that I liked but most were out of my current price range. I'll likely go back in a few months.

Classic example of gentrification and art market replacing the dying manufacturing. Interesting... I mean very interesting to see and great place to purchase over priced art work but with gentrification some suckers gotta pay for artist to make a fortune and hedge themselves from the inflation by gentrification.
However well maintained and hassle free environment alone should entice your visit and appreciate some art works you won t see otherwise.

Nice place to see if you're near by but I wouldn't make a trip for just this. However, tge waterfront is nice and there are some close historical sites. If in the area stop in and take a look.

I went here on a double date with my artist friends and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

We admired great art and the artist (Matt Harwood) by far is one of our favorites!

Beautiful art in a great environment. Solid way to spend an afternoon with family or friends wandering around and viewing the incredible creativity of the resident artists, many of whom are there and happy to chat.

Three floors of absolutely amazing art! The resident artists and their art media and styles are diametrically opposite from each other and just as opposing and unique from floor to floor to floor!

Fun fun place to visit and stroll around. Love that it's a place for local artists. There are often great events hosted at the Torpedo Factory as well. My personal favorite event is the one for Easter... everything rabbits!

An old factory right on the Potomac River that was converted to 3 floors of artist show spaces long ago. There is a variety of different types of art and jewelry being created and sold.

There's an ice cream stall inside if you visit on a hot day. The entire area is surrounded by restaurants. Parking can be a challenge in this area of town, so expect to pay.

Wandered into the building thinking it was mostly museum to be surprised with the art! Several were closed as those artists were reducing the spread. All open shops had signs and hand sanitizer. The building overall required masks. One thing I liked were the stalks had enough space for the artists to work, too. So you could see them into he creating phase. It also seemed like many fo the stalls were run but he artists themselves, so you could have discussions. On the top floor, there is an archeology museum with very knowledgeable and enthusiastic staff. Would definitely go again!
