I really liked this place, I love tapas places so I've been to a lot, and this one definitely stands out. I can't say the dishes were the best I've ever had, but I think the combined quality of each dish is what puts this place near the top.

In my opinion the best Tapas bar in Boston/Cambridge.

Creative cuisine with nice twists on tapas. Good portions and everything is always well prepared.

It's a bit pricey and they STILL don't take reservation (as of summer 2010) but the wait is worth it. Great ambiance, amazing food.

I miss living next door. If you have a craving for funky cuisine and like to share (and you have a tiny group with you) this is the place.

The salted peppers are amazing!

Came here for dinner . Ordered Loretta beer that was on the menu by oxbow brewing . The beer bottle was so warm that I had to ask for a glass with ice in it to drink the beer . The food was ok . There are much much better tapas places around .
Also not sure what a 3% wellness charge is on the bill . Never seen it before . Definitely not going back .

I'll just didn't have the best service. waitress was slow as molasses had an uncooked Burger had to send it back did not have enough time to have it reheated due to time restraints. I did have the corn and that was excellent but that's about it. overall not such a good experience, if you're hungry and you looking to eat, this is not the place, portions are very small price is very high.

This restaurant consistently serves up a wonderful dining experience. Perfect for a date night. Delicious tapas. Some dishes are oversalted to my taste but overall I always come away from a Toro dinner exceptionally happy. Servers are always educated about the menu and extremely helpful. Wine is delicious. Don't miss the bone marrow.

Well. Because the first time was so good, I decided to invite friends for my bday brunch. I think this was a mistake. They are not prepared to accommodate large parties. I'm slightly disappointed and probably won't go back. I definitely wouldn't come w a party larger than four. They just don't have the capacity or the willingness to make it happen. For example, They only accept reservations for brunch but I called the day before to let them know that our party had grown. She said there was nothing she could do. I said okay but we are still coming. We get there and they said the entire party had to be there before being seated. So they made us wait, only to realize that the place is small. So then they rushed us to the table in a "get out of the way" spirit. They also don't split checks for large parties. That seems pretty bizarre and archaic to me. So these are just examples of them not being ready to accommodate large parties. I hope they can figure it out but the hassle just isn't worth it. I was also disappointed in the $40 very small very bland pitcher of mimosa. We ordered 2 and we were quite underwhelmed. They should really start tasting the drinks before serving them.

If you are Spanish and want to detoxify American food, it is a good place for tapas, tapas and Spanish chef rations. If you go at night, you will find it full of young people, with a lot of hip-hop and rap environment. If you are inside the store or at the bar, you will have to speak out loud.

One of my favorite spots to visit in the city for the atmosphere and food. We always order a few tapas and paella. Service has always been on point and appreciate the slight menu changes that keep us looking forward to our next visit. Management team and chefs are doing a great job!

5 of 5 STARS

5 of 5 STARS

Our friends tried to drag us to this place for the past 6 months, but we always got to the terrible queues.

But a miracle happened and here we are. After six months of expectations and anticipation, we got into this paradise. My first impressions - mmm, this is something unusual, this I have not seen yet.

After waiting some time at the bar we were sat at a table near the window. Next time I would prefer to sit in the depths of the hall, as the constantly opening door was very annoying.

The menu has a very large variety of dishes, small plates, tacos, and so on. Our friends know the menu by heart, so it took us about 2 minutes to decide on an order.

Everything was great. They were able to make an incredibly tasty dish, even from regular potatoes - this is amazing.

I do not have enough words to describe how tasty duck paws and corn. Damn it, just corn. The serving of these dishes gives an additional desire to empty the plates as quickly as possible (see photos).

Listen to me, instead of reading this review just get up and run to Toro, book a table, take the menu and make your order. Enjoy your meal!

AMAZING! Four of us dined at Toro New Year's Eve for dinner. Great sharing small plates, trying different flavors and foods. And then, we shared the Paella!!! Out of this world! The service was probably the best I have ever experienced. This was a packed New Year's Eve lively restaurant and I felt like we were the only guests. Our waitress told us about all the menu items and even went to the chef to find out the history of an item we inquired about. And then, we had a guest with a major food allergy. The waitress brought the menu to the chef, and brought it back marked with what she could eat. And then....each small plate that was delivered to us throughout the night, by various servers was announced if it could be eaten with the food allergy. I could go on and on about Toro and we all can't wait to go back!

Absolutely delicious tapas, every single dish we had was fantastic. Highly recommended. One star off for the atmosphere on a saturday night. The patrons of toro were clearly not a young crowd (average age was probably mid 30s) especially in the early evening hours, and there was ear splittingly loud music blaring on top of the noise generated by poor acoustics. Kind of a bummer but the food more than made up for it!

Oh boy! The food was excellent and the service was more than amazing. Definitely exceedes my expectations. Totally loved it!

The place is open until quite late so it's a great place to hang out and get a beer.

Although, if you're not down to get dirty, it'll be a bit of work out for the arms. But trust me, it's totally worth it!

If you want to to try very tiny portions of different plates of very good food and down to spend that extra dollar it's great. Papa smurf would be full , I'd come back on a date, great amptonphere but if I'm hungry it's not going to be here , unless I want to impress a girl. If your hungry and worried about your pockets, this is not the place to go.

Fantastic spot in the South End with outdoor seating area. Best to get a few tapas to split among your group, that way you get a taste of everything. Lots of vegetarian options, a couple standouts were the corn and the patatas bravas (pieces of potato with aioli and tomato sauces). Toro doesn't take reservations, but you can order from the same exact menu at bar, which usually doesn't have as long a wait. Overall fun ambiance and most importantly, great food.

Food

Food
This is my third time coming here and I would still only give it a 4 star. The reason being everything was good, but nothing was great or addictive. It doesn t encourage me to keep coming back.

Service
Because of COVID, they created outdoor seatings on the sidewalk and one thing to keep in mind, you are required to keep your mask on until you finish ordering. Overall the service was good. I was impressed about how many times they came over and asked if we want to switch to new plates.

We were excited when we read other reviews but were disappointed when we waited for a table and then we're told very rudely that we were not going to be served with out of state licenses, with no effort to accommodate us despite having other electric documentation. It was a disappointing celebration of our 5 year anniversary. Despite the good atmosphere - from what we saw in five minutes - I wouldn't recommend this place to someone else. Very poor customer service - which always detracts from even the best food.

My husband and I have been coming to this restaurant since we first started dating and it s just fantastic. We just got the takeout multi course meal with wine deal from GILT City to use for our 4th anniversary dinner. There was a slight hiccup when I went to pickup but their professionalism just showed why this has been a favorite restaurant of ours for years. The food we got was fantastic and we couldn t finish it all. The lobster paella in particular was a standout. Thank you again for making it a wonderful, special meal. We can t wait to use our reservation once you have indoor dining again! I wish I had the managers name to thank her personally but thank you for making it a wonderful night!

Been to Barcelona Spain 3 times. This is one of the best tapas places in the city, although it's not traditional Spanish tapas. It is however delicious especially my last visit. The serrano ham was nutty, buttery and smooth. The whole bass was delicious as was the ribeye.

Housesitting in the area, dropped by on reccomendation on a Tuesday evening. Great service and delicious food. Felt squished in our table -in kissing distance to table neighbours and forced to listen to loud conversations. Not for a peaceful romantic dinner. Fab for an energectic, fun stylish vibe. The fig and cheese, cod croquettes, sliders and the Berry trifle - yummy!!

Loved the atmosphere, it's very warm and inviting! We sat right at the bar and ordered a Sea Bass, which was delicious (as a bit of humour, I accidentally ate the eye). If you're in the south end, I would definitely recommend checking this place out.

Good food, just way overpriced. The tapas are too small for a group to share, except for "patatas bravas", and too expensive for the size. The "croquetas, empanadas, boquerones" were good. The "pulpo a la gallega" is not worth it, you get more potatoes than pulpo.

We got the Gambas al Ajillo ($16) as a tapa - six, grilled to perfection shrimp. Despite being pricy, it was utterly delicious.Next we ordered the half size Paella Valenciana ($35) - it was the perfect amount for two people, the full sized one is more suited to at least 4-6 people. The paella had mussels, shrimp, chorizo, and chicken with flavorful rice in a pan

It's a great spot for dinner with friends or drinks. It's a great tapas menu filled with a mix of delicious bites. Most of the dishes are meant to be eaten with bread-- bone marrow, anchovies, spreads, etc.... so it's great if you're sharing with people. It's not quite the menu for brunch. They open for lunch/brunch, but the menu doesn't change. I was expecting a few Spanish inspired breakfast bites, but that's not the case at Toro. It's a delicious menu, but can be a little heavy on the salt and definitely NOT low cal-- there's a good amount of oil/fat/butter on many of the dishes. You can pick those that are healthier, but definitely not the place if you are looking for healthy. On that same note-- I'll say they do a great job of adding brightness (citrus) to balance the fat/oils. The bone marrow is delicious. First time, I loved it. Second time it wasn't quite the same. So... perhaps consistency isn't their strong point.

From start to finish, the dinner at Toro was a miserable disappointment.

We were seated outdoors, since that was the only available seating after a 45 minute wait and we d been told that seating indoors would be another 30 to 45 minutes. It was cold, but the hostess promised that hot beverages would be available. When the server eventually appeared, we asked what her estimate would be for how long it would take for small plates to start coming out once we ordered, and were treated to an eye roll. When we asked her about hot drinks, she said they could make a hot toddy. That took 20 minutes to appear, and was more of a warm toddy than anything actually hot, and was completely generic in flavor.

We had six of the small plates offerings. We ordered all of them at the beginning, since the kitchen was going to stop taking new orders shortly.

First was the Hamachi Crudo, which was probably the best of the six except that the portion was so small that we could only get a slight sense of what it was like. Our feeling was that even if the portion size had been adequate, it still wouldn t have risen to the level of Oh wow .

Second was the Jamon Blanco, which was way too salty and the flavors really didn t mesh well. My companion described it as like being punched in the mouth with salt .

Third was the Foie Gras a la Plancha, which had been prepared in such a way as to be missing most of that richness that one expects, and was also the smallest bit of foie gras that I ve ever seen offered. It was served with what are best described as soggy toast scraps.

Fourth was the Empanada de Cabra, which was very small but adequate in flavor, and would have made a perfectly decent street vendor empanada for about a quarter the price.

After this fourth disappointing course, my companion wondered if we should cancel the two remaining small plates and just settle up and leave. I wanted to see if either of the remaining courses were any better. I asked the server for a hot tea, and requested that it be brought quickly. To her credit she did bring it quickly, but never bothered to ask if lemon, sugar, or cream were wanted with it, and vanished too fast for me to ask.

The fifth plate was the Asado de Huesos, which was an adequate preparation of roast bone marrow. However, with that plate it became clear that any time they were having a failure of imagination for garnish, it would be thin slices of radish.

The sixth and final plate was the Pato con Membrillo, which were supposed to be duck legs but were actually charred gristle and bone coated with the sort of sticky-sweet sauce that one might find on the baby back ribs special at a third-rate chain restaurant. They were the worst duck legs that I ve ever had.

We settled up and fled. There s plenty of good small plates offerings to be had in Boston, but certainly not here.

I am comparing this place to other tapas and cocktail places and it is underwhelming. The food was ok but not delicious. It felt like something was missing from each plate, like it was put together clumsily. I left feeling I would have spent the money better somewhere else.

Toro Boston is by far the most fantastic place I had visited. Their environment as well as the food they served was very tasty. The guys were awesome. I would suggest someone the best time to go Toro Boston is at the night time. It s livelier at night when it s full with young people.

WOW!! We try tapas in every city that we visit and this spot is amazing. We actually ended up going twice in our short 4 night trip. We had two of the best, most friendly, knowledgeable waiters Javier and David. The food is exceptional and the short ribs literally melt in your mouth! Don't dare leave without trying the patatas bravas and the grilled street corn (maiz asado). The lberico ham croissant with the truffle butter was perfect. The hamburger sliders are the best hamburgers I've ever tasted.

We had the aceitunas, erizos con caviar, lengua de cordero, and asado de huesos. Everything was prepared to perfection. Love the menu and the atmosphere. Service was great. Enjoyed this place more than other good tapas places in the area like the Barcelona. Looking forward to our next visit.
