Best tapas in Boston, hands down. Cute spot and great wines.
The bone marrow fatty creamy deliciousness !!!! and the Paella !!! nicely done
The food is very good and there are tables in the sidewalk. It's perfect for an appointment.
Lovely customer service, good food and coZy environment. The drinks are super
Food was very good. Prices reasonable. Good ambience. There were deplorable flies everywhere...
Original delicious tapas, great service and good wines!
The paella is a must have! This is a great place for a long, leisurely dinner. Start with a few tapas to share. The Brussels sprouts are phenomenal, along with the grilled shrimp and hangar steak.
One of my favorite restaurants in Boston. Food is always delicious. Drinks are fantastic. Service is unmatched. Only downside is no reservations for dinner.
Fantastic food - very well constructed flavors and large portions. The outdoor seating was great (we went in the summer for lunch). The vegetarian paella was great - those turnips were delicious!!
Such a great restaurant
Food and drinks are always so good!
Always crowded, it's not a secret!
really enjoyed the food every time i went to this place.
Thoreau does not lie when he says that the restaurant is inspired by Spanish cuisine. So that you know, in Spain everything is a little different and better. Pankonat was good, but easy to make.
For me, what caught my attention was the size of the plates and, of course, the price. I don t remember how many shrimp I had in the plate that I ordered, but in Toro it was easy. Pulpo Gallego: 6 small pieces of pulp and lots of potatoes. Gambas al ajillo: 5 shrimp, not bi-shrimp, and a lot of sauce. Crudo de n: 5 slices of tuna
Each of these plates: $ 16. The Crudo de at n is perhaps the only one not so expensive compared to Japanese restaurants, but they are always quite expensive.
Tortilla was good too.
We did not have to wait for the table, but the waitress took a little time to get to our table. The music was loud. The place is informal, casual, pleasant. For me, this is a bar, not a restaurant.
Setas y huevo, Gambas al aljillo, croquetas de jamon, Secreto iberico, and I cant remember the name of the eggplant dish (edit: Escalivada Catalana) started with but holy smokes! Incredible dining experience. Blessed to have caught the last dinner service before shutting down temporarily. Very inspiring experience from an aspiring chef visiting from atlanta! Toro is a must for anyone looking for a great dining experience. Cant wait to come back post-Corona
This is my favorite tapas place in Boston, but unfortunately, the staff looks miserable and rarely a smile, what's up with that?
Came here for dinner. It opens and 5 and no reservations so make sure to show up early to grab a table especially if you are with a big group!
To start drinks are typical wine, beer and cocktails. I tried the whiskey and tequila based cocktails and both were tasty!
Dishes we had so many! Gambas Al ajillo (Grilled shrimp with some special sauce), maiz asado (corn), foie grais, jamon Serrano (cured ham), escalivada catalana (eggplant), patatas bravas (fried potatoes with cheese and sauce), pulo (octopus), filet a la plancha (skirt steak), hamburgers, tuna, scallops, pork, fried chicken wings, churros dessert (hot, warm and you dip in chocolate) and 2 paellas....
As you can tell we tried a ton haha. Good news most were delicious! Favorites were the shrimp, corn, chicken wings and pork but like I said everything tasted good. I would even venture to say this is one of the best tapas places I've been to! So why a star off? Cost. A lot of dishes are tiny and cost $15. Really tapas should be more moderately priced. You can easily get an entree at a great restaurant and pay less.
Great drinks, delicious food, and wonderful service. Favorites here are the corn and patatas bravas, among other.
Spanish food... super yummy. entered near eleven, it wasn't packed. prices are appropriate. mood here reminds me of colorado springs area.
I love Toro. Great atmosphere and amazing food. Not everything is truly traditional Spanish tapas, but I've never had a dish I didn't like. Just stop in, get a pitcher of sangria and eat your way through the menu!
One of my favorite spots in Boston. If ever we go out in the city with someone who hasn't been here, this is the first choice always.
They have amazing cocktails and a great selection of beers and wine. Definitely do a bottle of sparkling white wine in a porron.
Food is also always changing and delicious. The staples are the grilled corn, the patatas bravas, and the Duck drumsticks.
They don't take reservations, so expect a wait unless you get there when they open. But it's always well worth it.
Delicious food and cocktails. Quite small and busy and they don't take bookings so you usually have to wait for a table but its worth it. Cool music too!
Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu. Drinks and razor clams were excellent!
Toro is one of my absolute favorite Tapas restaurants in Boston. They're food is delicious and the service is pretty good.
I would definitely recommend arriving earlier as they don't take reservations for dinners and it can get crowded, especially on weekends. However, they do accept reservations for brunch and lunch.
Overall, I would 100% can recommend. I love it everytime I go!
Pricey but very good. The atmosphere is very nice and welcoming, had a great time sitting there. Recommended.
Came here around 5:30 on a Sunday night for a friend's birthday and got seated after about 5 minutes.
The place itself is pretty small and as a party of seven we were seated at a table with another couple, which wasn't an issue. It was annoying though because I kept getting bumped into by the servers, and one in particular apologized only after I stared at her after she bumped into me 5 times. The noise level was also an issue, and we could only hear each other if we yelled across the table.
The food was good and our waitress was very friendly but if I wanted tapas I'd probably stick with going to Barcelona Wine Bar, especially since you can make reservations there.
Let me stay here when a dude followed me asking for a prescription . Good food and drink, even better service. A quality institution.
I typically dislike tapas, but I bought a Gilt City voucher for dinner for two. The voucher was for a 8 course meal with 4 wine parings and this was undoubtedly one of the best decisions I've made in life. The food was outstanding!!! Our waiter (Jesse) who doubled as a sommelier was incredibly knowledgeable, charming, and sweet. This will likely be a regular spot whenever I visit Boston. It's made me believe in tapas again.
I had the opportunity to eat here after several attempts, because always is full.
The flavor is really from Spain, Eating at El Toro is an amazing experience.
I enjoyed the Monkfish (the recommendation of the day), the mejillones (the sauce is excellent) and, of course, the Jamon Serrano (the cutting is made with machine, instead of handy, which is the real spanish style, but anyway, perfect, do not forget to ask for the Extra Virger Olive Oil).
Personnel is always ready to serve, excellent attitude.
Environment is good.
Toro is one of the best restaurants I've eaten, worldwide.
Congratulations
Toro is an experience. It came highly recommended from a work colleague, who had endorsed it as the best tapas he'd had in Boston. And it sure didn't disappoint. Toro takes no reservations, and for good reason - it's busy, and definitely worth the wait for a table in the bustling dining room. Choose from a great selection of tapas favourites (patatas bravas and the Iberico jamon are crowd pleasers), and the wine list is a brilliant complement to the food selections. Top it off with a digestif, and call it a successful night in the South End!
Too dark. You cannot see what you are eating. You cannot even see the menu to order. The corn was good, the duck was too dry, the burgers were too payonesee and meh, and the steak was too salty and cuminy. Overall not worth the price tag.
Excellent Spanish food place very good service and the chef magnificent chef
I have been 3 times and it's been amazing each time. The tapas range from authentic Spanish to modern. Good wine list. Only downside is that they don't take reservations, so it can be a long wait on a Friday or Saturday, but go on a weekday and you can sit right down.
Authentic, and delicious. Highly recommend this low lite hidden spanish gem in the south end.
Decent food and casual atmosphere. There are items like huevo rancheros that I would not consider Spanish ( never seen it in Spain) , but overall food was good.
The perfect place, delicious food and drinks, the most awesome bartenders (specially mentioning Emma) Again...I must mention my reviews are somewhat biased, since I was there with the most wonderful girl in the whole world.
Best part about the place was the staff! Nice tall chairs by the window, however, the place is a little cramped. Could definitely give it a try!
Flavors were good. Service was awesome. Boston politicians need to support the restaraunt industry now. Still no indoor dining. We cannot fake it much longer. Winter is coming...
Great tapas. But a little small and doesn't take reservations
One of the best tapas places. If you're in town and you like Spanish tapas this is the place to go. The cocktails are fantastic also.
The food was some of the best food we have had in our life.
Great food. Great service. Great timing. Better than Barcelona.
Omg! Verdad y Amor ..best drink ever. Everything was so good..paella, spanish jamon, garlic shrimp, tomato salad, and the octopus dish was awesome !
The best meal I've ever had. We got an amazing array of dishes most of them recommended by the bartenders/waitstaff. The shrimp, the heart, bone marrow, foie gras, yellowtail, mushrooms, and the corn to name a few. The drinks were also amazing. I am in Boston for 5 days and I'm definitely going back while I'm here.
Amazing tapas place. We just stopped for the corn and shrimp, but will be back for more.
Authentic Spanish food! Amount of each dish is quite small which allows us to try a lot of different things
Authentic tapas experience in Boston. Everything we had was prepared beautifully and delicious, including the cocktails. Would have liked a more extensive wine list. Will go back again.
I have eaten fabulous food at Toro many times and I'm never disappointed!
It was not super memorable. The food and service was fine. I wasn t sure what the hype was about.
Love the food here, one of my favorite place in boston
Good food, good drink, good vibe....what else do you need?
Amazing staff but always over crowded. There is always a wait and the bar has a separate guest list ifnyou want to try something more casual. Excellent food helps and their drinks follow suit as well. Good luck with outdoor seating in the summer months but could be worth the wait if you've never been.
The food was delicious and the staff was so helpful even though we were pretty clueless. We went for brunch and it was some of the best food I've had while visiting Boston. Balanced flavors, rich, and they don't skimp on the fat or the quality of ingredients. This was my first time to have tapas ever and I'm not sure that I've ever had anything like this. I've had Spanish food before and I feel like I tasted a whole new world. It was pricy but worth the money so save your pennies.
I don't know about vegetarian friendly. Most everything had lardo in it, but if you're into meat... have everything.
Oh and their jalapeno bloody Maria was the best one I've ever had. I don't know how.
I have been here a handfull of times and have never had a bad experience. The staff is knowledgable and friendly. The food is TO.DIE.FOR. It's an adventurous menu for people who like to try the unusual. Everything is delicious.
Guess I am not hipster enough to hang out here. The tapas were pretty good honestly but we rolled in at after 10pm on a Saturday. The place was jammed packed. The beer selection I thought was limited and the one beer I wanted they ran out of. We were crammed onto a tiny little table where two tapas plates and our drinks were spilling over the sides. To get up from my table we actually had to have our neighbors move their table as well as ours as the tables are set about 9 inches apart at most. Not worth my time, money or hearing (so loud) to seem cool enough to eat here.
My favorite tapas spot in Boston. There is an extensive menu of small and medium plates. We always over order because everything is so good. The drink menu is extensive and the bartenders make some of the best cocktails in Boston. The space is small and gets very crowded but the overall atmosphere is relaxed. Come early or late to avoid a long wait. It's first come first seated, so no reservations.
What a great time we had here the Toro, the manager greeted us in the beginning and end of our meal. He was genuinely happy to help our requirements when we had them.
Only complaint I have to say was our salad had a salty taste which was confusing because we had the salmon on the side.
Still, we enjoyed it and will be returning!
This lively casual dining place successfully sets "ir de tapas" experience in Boston! Chefs add their own flare to traditional tapas like ham, anchovies,corn-on-cob (just the way it should be served). Beet and goat cheese salad is quiet a revelation! But what really sets it apart form its peers is the fact that one can just plan it on the fly,hop in right after work, and effortlessly indulge in great food while catching up with friends!
AMAZING. PLEASE GO HERE. It is a little on the pricey side, but for a special occasion (or a special person) it is 1000% worth it. The duck drumettes and dried aged mini burgers are definite must trys.

One of my favorite restaurants in the city. Though it is a physically small location, the crowd here is always hip & energetic. Great date spot. My favorite tapas are: the patatas bravas, salt cod fritters, & the corn on the cob. Bartenders know what they are doing. Caution: They do not take reservations & there is almost a wait.
Not great paella did not use yellow rice other dishes just ok octopus just lacked finese portions small even for tapas. Sangria best part of dinner.
The food is good, but the wait is always too long and the music is SO LOUD.
Fantastic tapas, great service, worth the wait, fantastic paella, great drinks. Great tap beer
Watered down sangria and cold tortilla de patatas. Barely any saffron in paella
Yummy food. From the octopus to the lamb to the empanadas. Good drinks. Splendid place.
Great tapas, delicious paella and incredible tortilla. One of the best restaurants in Boston!
So on a Saturday nite i was worried we weren't gonna get in bc from the previous review everyone stated there is usually a wait so we had a plan b if we couldn't get in. We arrived at the restaurant about 9pm on a Saturday nite and we got seated immediately, this is my cousin's favorite restaurant and she said she has never got seated so fast and i said yes its bc of me and my bday weekend vibes thats how we keep getting seated so fast lol.
Great Spanish/Mexican restaurant. A bit crowded but it is worth the wait
Payla with only 2 shramps most of the plate is fried rice and not event cooked well.charge 7$ for this peace of bread and tomato on it.not recommended at all very disappointed from my first experience.i tried order what i like they have no fish at all.i ordered bread they said they have no extra.all of that cost 40$ for something not even delecious and hurted stomach.made me feel want to throw up
If you're looking for top notch tapas, then look no further. Two words: bone marrow! Just do it. I've never been disappointed with anything I've ordered here. The wild mushrooms and street corn are great too!
First and foremost the food was SALTY -- except for the Paella. I was excited to go there given the reputation the restaurant has with customers and foodies. My initial reaction to the few tapas we ordered was unfavorable. We ordered a fish dip made of Sea Bass and Octopus tapas and both were extremely salty. They provided bread with the Tapas which makes the combination of bread and salty food serious bloating. I was very disappointed and will not be going there again unless they change this situation. WE all know that restaurants add a lot of salt to their foods and bread to entice drinking -- A BAD COMBINATION and a disingenuous one. YOU CAN DO BETTER. They have forgotten how to cook for taste.
Good food, little expensive but thats to be expected. Good corn.
We had Sunday brunch here and made a reservation a week in advance. I don't think the reservation was necessary as there were plenty of tables available. The service was fast and polite. We had the cornbread and maiz asado as starters, both of which were delicious. The brunch specials of huevos rancheros and brava bomb were decent but we expected better. For dessert we had churros which were good and the chocolate was not overly sweet. The portions of everything were large, the atmosphere was enjoyable and all in all it was a great meal.
