Great atmosphere for adults or families. Wine is just overpriced in my opinion.
Great atmosphere for adults or families. Wine is just overpriced in my opinion.
The 2016 Cabernet Franc Reserve is amazing. Ask to compare it to the non-reserve.
The Winery at Bull Run has a great wine room and excellent atmosphere! The location (the edge of Manassas Battlefield) is fantantic. The staff is wonderful, knowledgeable, and very helpful! Can't wait to go back again!
Recommendation: Make a reservation for the weekend on Wed. Get the 11 am reservation (charge of $10). Bring in a bunch of outside food and enjoy the wine and weather until it really starts to get crowded around noon 12:30pm then leave in time to get baby down for a nap by 2pm (DC residents). Wine's definitely cheaper to buy by the bottle. Overall the great atmosphere, with a live musician and some good spacing in the large field. Staff was friendly and very courteous.
We came for my friend s birthday and we did the historical wine and tasting tour. Jared was our tour guide and he is the greatest! He gave us an unforgettable experience and was extremely knowledgable in American history and of course wine! I m really glad Jared was our tour guide, I would definitely do this tour again! :)
Beautiful local winery. The staff is always very friendly and really knows their products. Love the special events for "date night". It's really close to Fairfax, but you feel like you're out in the country.
The wine is substandard, you can get much cheaper wines at the grocery store with better flavor. They overcharge $12 for a tasting that includes 12 samples of wines...but you get to keep the glass!! Minimum charge for a glass of wine is $9, nope sorry, don't get the glass with that order. No rinsing between tastings, unless you want to pay extra for the water. Rinsing with water is frowned on by the staff because the residue of the wine you previously tasted is better to mix with the new taste than water. What?? Not dog friendly, no dogs allowed. Impressive on the outside with a nice area to gather and picnic, but very over priced on their snacks as well. For a nice time and great wine, head to Saude Creek Cellars!
Delicious. My faves were the Cabernet Franc and Norton.
My husband and I just love the atmosphere and, of course, the wine is terrific. There is something there for every season -- the porch, the picnic area, and the beautiful bar area. My daughter is a charter member so we go there often. A lovely way to spend an afternoon anytime.
I was here for a work celebration and the Barrel Room with the adjacent area was perfect for a little late afternoon vino. Really enjoyed myself, and the fact that there was a great musician there really enhanced the vibe. Surprisingly open area.
Great experience lot of kind people will in the help you out at a lot of great tasting wines
I've been here several times... If you're looking for a winery that not only has some good wine but has some energy, this is the spot... they have lots of events, shows, and live music. if you want something relaxed and quiet, I've experienced that there as well, though I'd check the website to see what's going on beforehand. Great date spot. Great location.
So much fun on Sunday afternoon. Love the peach wine!
Beautiful location. Wine tasting with a little historical context. Great hospitality
For brides considering this venue: DON'T! I'll be straightforward as to why I stand by my words:
1. There was no transparency. While emailing the events director (there is only 1 so I do not need to name that person) I asked for the price to hold my ceremony and reception for a specific date. I was given a range from $2,400-$7,900, which is a very broad range.
2. When trying to set up a visit, each date I requested I got an "our winery is closed" from the director. According to their website, they were definitely open. This person later indicated that he was going to be out of the office. Okay, if you are out of the office, then just say, you are out of the office. This person was barely reluctant to schedule an appointment, only to the effect of excessively saying they were only coming in to meet with me and my fiance.
3. This person gave me a phone number to let them know I arrived, however it only accepts text, which is fine. I was also informed not to ask any of the staff to let this person know when I arrived, which seemed a little odd, as some of the staff did ask if they could provide any assistance to me. It would be greatly appreciated if a response was sent back. Instead we had to wait, only to end up asking a staff where we could find this person and to our surprise, they were schmoozing with some people. I'm sorry, but if you are going to make a fuss about coming in on your day off, we don't want to waste your time, so be courteous and don't waste ours.
4. I've checked out quite a few venues and not one has ever asked what my overall budget was for my wedding. This person was persistent and making us extremely uncomfortable, especially since we were not offered a private place to chat, but in the main tasting room surrounded by the general public.
5. Once it was disclosed that our proposed wedding date (in mid-November) would be at the very top of the price range, we were disappointed. We really wished we were told this ahead of time, as it took over an hour's drive, each way, to visit this place. We thanked this person for their time and left.
6. The director emailed me a few days later asking what our thoughts were. I responded saying it was out of our budget and wish they had been more transparent from the start. I was then emailed back with an argumentative response, with this person copying/pasting the price range they provided early on in the process. Are you serious? This is not a way to win my business as this is unprofessional.
So with the lack of transparency, professionalism, a knack for being argumentative, pushy, and flat out rude, I advise any future bride to consider carefully. There are other vineyards in the area that spell things out in black and white for you, provide a higher value, and want to ensure you have a special day once your wedding arrives.
Nice for a fall day. A lot of people though and weddings going on so not really intimate. But still nice and beautiful.
Surprising selection of good wines that would easily earn higher rating except for exceptionally poor service-mindedness. They don't answer phone, don't return calls, website reservations fail, and the one time, out of many tries that the phone was answered, it was clear they didn't care. Wouldn't take a reservation by phone.
We got married at the Winery at Bull Run in May and it was a wonderful experience! We had our ceremony at the estate ruins, cocktail hour in the barrel room and reception in the tasting room for about 100 people. Natasha and Eddie are on top of everything, and were very easy to work with. I felt very comfortable leaving the day in their hands, and they didn't disappoint! We didn't have any "day of" issues and everything went as they told us it would. We even had a couple suggestions that they ran with on their own. The location is beautiful and offers so many options for the various parts of the wedding, and I didn't even need to add many of my own decorations/florals to make it picture perfect. Only recommendation to future brides is to plan to get ready offsite then get dressed there - we did that and the barrel room was perfect for getting dressed, but there's really no space for hair/makeup with good lighting. We loved the flexibility and personalization, and people are still telling me what a great venue it was. I would highly recommend having a wedding there, and would do it again in a heartbeat!
Wonderful wine compared to many other vineyards in the area. We really enjoyed the tasting experience.
Bull Run is a great Northern Virginia winery with plenty of seating and beautiful scenery! I've visited Bull Run for large group outings and for small get-togethers and it is the perfect location for both. You can bring in your own food and water which allows you to sit back, relax, and enjoy a picnic on one of their many picnic tables. During the winter they have heat lamps so you can still enjoy the beautiful scenery. One nice feature of the winery is that they have a family area, so if you have little ones you can sit there or if you're a group of adults, you can stay away from the kiddos. My personal favorite wine is the Delaney, a sweet summer white wine named after the wine makers daughter. It is a must have and I normally buy multiple bottles when I visit!
I always enjoy visiting The Winery at Bull Run! The staff is super accommodating and friendly. The wine is great, the atmosphere is relaxing, the location is very convenient, and the events team works very diligently to put on their events. If you are looking to hold a special event or a place to spend a relaxing/fun day with your friends, this is the place for you!
Went for a wedding they left sharp things in the venue my son sliced his hand open. Maybe if the staff wasn't all upstairs drinking they would have notices all the kids playing with this. Venue was nice but staff is lazy.
The staff are always friendly and helpful. Even when busy there is feeling on calm, warm and inviting. Really enjoyed our time with Cassidy for our wine tasting today. Next time I will definitely try to get her again.
Great venue with decent wine. Their wines were a little sweeter than I prefer. ~$30 a bottle. You can bring your own food and enjoy a picnic out by the grape vines. Makes for a perfect afternoon to catch up with friends, enjoy the outdoors and get a little drink on.
I always have a great time at The Winery at Bull Run. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and they certainly know how to put on an event. If it's just with friends on the weekend or a big charity event, The Winery at Bull Run is awesome.
I absolutely loved this winery. The staff was super friendly! We happened to go when it was raining but we were met at the end of the walkway with an umbrella escort. Inside it is an open floor plan with lots of seating and space. Jennifer was awesome and helped us capture some beautiful pictures for my bridal shower. There was live music and a food truck. My experience was great. My only suggestion would be a more detailed wine tasting and possibly a samplers platter to go along with the tastings.
Good eats, fair wine, excellent civil war skirmish. A good time.
We came here for a covid get away for the day. It was brutally hot and the picnic tables under the shaded trees sipping on wine made you forget about Coronas of all kind. Great staff, service, and wine. They also gave folks free bottled water, again going above and beyond. I highly recommend this place for prioritizing service and we will be coming back often.
My husband and I searched for months for the perfect location for our wedding. We knew instantly as we arrived to The Winery at Bull Run that this was the place for us. We held our ceremony on the mansion ruins which provided such a unique and gorgeous setting and really added to the rustic feel that we wanted.
Our wedding day was filled with genuine love, great friendship and was exactly what we had envisioned. The staff at TWABR and Amphora catering went above and beyond to meet all of our requests and as a result, our wedding was amazing. We are so happy to have chosen TWABR as our wedding venue.
My wife and I are members here and always have a great time when we visit. Really nice ambiance with a beautiful backdrop.
Looking for a great venue for next event or wedding. Look no further than The Winery at Bull Run - the perfect picturesquare conveniently located in Centreville yet you will get feeling of fine virginia wine country. I have personally attended multiple events, including weddings - its just the perfect place to be time. Not only a great but also have great wine, awesome customer service every time I have been there. Eddie does a great at putting the events together. I will strongly recommend this winery to anyone, whose heart desire great local wine and a venue.
Amazing views. Great atmosphere, the tour is quick but fun "thanks Stephen". Come early and enjoy the day they even have a space just for families.
Love this place!! Family friendly, tasting room welcomes everyone, adults only side, clean bathrooms, beautiful grounds, historical tours, haunted tours, live music, and food trucks during the weekends and summertime. Prices are very reasonable (tastings are around $15), wine is great, pre-packaged snacks available, and seasonal activities. If you re in the area should definitely stop by.
From my first experience at The Winery at Bull Run I could feel the welcome environment and smiling faces. Every member of the staff that I spoke to was friendly and incredibly knowledgeable about the wine and history of the area. It's a place you can go for a glass of wine to relax after work, or bring some friends, grab a bottle and enjoy your day or night. After seeing many events there you can tell that the events team has really got it together. Everyone is so well taken care of, and things could not run more smoothly. The beautiful inside, with the breathtaking surroundings are accompanied by great people who know how to make every day a special one.
Great wines, beautiful scenery, and a lovely venue.
They have so many rules (no food at the bar, no wine tasting away from the bar, no sharing of wine among guests) and unaccommodating staff. Much of the grounds is off limits which defeats the purpose of going to the vineyard - to see the grape vines and the winemaking process. Of course the tours end very early and the business seems to just try to push alcohol on you. If I just wanted to drink wine I would have gone to a grocery store or a bar. Veryrofessional.
Lovely atmosphere! Social distancing is done easily and effortlessly. The staff is AWESOME ! Our tour guide Colleen was the best!
Wine is good-atmosphere is sub-par.
My friend and I went here yesterday around 1pmish. We were part of the "no reservation" club because we did not have a reservation, which consists of a $10 fee to reserve a table (that doesn't go towards drinks or your bill).
"No reservations" have a separate parking lot and separate entrance. We also have a separate section to sit in, which normally, I wouldn't care about. But the area we were allowed in was a huge lawn with minimal seating. My friend and I walked up with tiny beach chairs to sit in, as the available seating was already taken and during COVID times, I am not comfortable sharing a table with strangers. We were told we could not bring any sort of seating in. We went in anyways, chair-free, and walked through the reserved seating area (where there were plenty of open tables and lots of spaced out seating) to get some drinks. I will say, their drinks are good and not horribly priced.
It was very confusing as to where exactly we (with no reservations) could go, as the signage was minimal and the spaces led into each other. I'm not even sure if we were supposed to buy drinks where we did, to be honest!
It felt very much like the haves and have-nots. Honestly, if we had just been allowed to bring in our tiny beach chairs, I couldn't have cared less about the separation. It was just very frustrating that they 1. didn't offer enough seating for people who didn't have a reservation and 2. didn't allow us to bring in our own seating if they weren't going to offer enough (also, I feel like letting people bring in their own chairs during COVID times is a much safer alternative, but I digress). The atmosphere was pretty unwelcoming (most staff we interacted with were unfriendly or standoffish) and it just felt like because we didn't have a reservation, we were not as valued as other customers. We only bought one drink each - I would have been happier to spend more and help support local places during this pandemic but not after that experience.
If you want a nicer experience with guaranteed seating, I'd make a reservation, but for others who don't want to pay for a reservation (that doesn't go towards your bill), I'd go elsewhere.
Wow!! Visiting from PA. The place is stunningly beautiful. I really wish we had a winery like this in PA! I could have sat out there all day. We did the wine tasting and it was delicious.
We loved this place!! Great atmosphere, live music... And staff was fun and informative :). Loved the peach wine. You get 10 tastings and can take home the glass.
Try it.. You won't be sorry.
Great wine! Delicious and such a great staff full of knowledge!!
My favorite winery! Beautiful ground, excellent wines. I love their wine club. Great for a date day or to bring the kids. There is a 21+ area and an equally lovely area for families.
Had a wonderful experience! Beautiful winery and location. Exceptional service; Jennifer provided a knowledgeable, professional, and relatable tasting for us. Also the wine was delicious.
The Winery at Bull Run is amazing! It's super close to DC, has an amazing feel and look and makes for either a wonderful date or an opportunity to take the wife and kids on a great day trip! Their staff is completely friendly and super happy to please! I'm very happy to recommend them! I have been several times and have always had a great time!
Very busy, but not a long wait! The wines are very good and the staff is excellent. :-)
Absolutely gorgeous Winery.
Took a private tour of the Winery with my best friend. The rest of our group didn't show, so the tour kind was kind enough to continue one with just the 2 of us. I felt like royalty. We had plenty healthy sharing's of wine, and finished afterwards with a charcuttorie board. The tour guide was very, very knowledgeable. Unfortunatelly, I don't remember his name but he's a lower of Star Wars and is a teacher by trade! I took home a few bottles of their moscato.
Can't wait to return. Can't say enough positive things about this place
We came for a friend's wedding, and they were amazing. The entire venue is absolutely gorgeous and the amenities provided for us were incredible. They also implemented all proper social distancing and PPE requirements to ensure everyone's safety during these times. Can't recommend highly enough.
The Winery at Bull Run is the perfect perfect way to spend an hour b/f picking someone up at the airport, a few hours to relax on a Saturday, or a full day with out of town guests--adults and kids alike!! Everytime we've taken friends there, they have ended up going back on their own with their own guests. Great wine, great food vendors that the Winery brings in, great reception area for that special celebration (weddings anyone??), beautiful views (from inside or out). And the best part--it's right off the highway and so close to the city. What easier entertainment can anyone ask for? SO glad that this winery is finally here and open for business!
VAWE Network used the Winery at Bull Run for a corporat networking event and we could not have been more pleased with the experience. It was easy to locate, lots of parking, beautiful views, inredible wines and a gorgeous event facility. But more than that was the fun, exciting atmoshphere the staff and owners create for guests. Nothing boring here, this winery has a passion for pleasing their guests, making you smile and spoiling you with great wines. From weddings to corporate events, romantic dates or elopments, this winery is a must see! I highly recommend The Winery at Bull Run.
Had our micro wedding at The Winery at Bull Run in October 2020. It was a perfect fit for us - gorgeous scenery, yummy wine, and a laid back type of vibe. Julie was the staff member I worked with most and she was easy to communicate with and very nice. Thank you for helping make our covid wedding happen!
Worth a stop and a taste. Beautiful, historically interseting and the wine is good too.
Nice view from outside at sunset.
But access thru unpaved road damaging to ur vehicle and wierd no pets policy.
Great day at the winery recently. Wine was great, we got to crush grapes, and the weather was perfect. Thanks to the events team for letting me know about this awesome venue.
Went there for the first time today. Had a wonderful time. The wine tasting was fun and quite inlighting! A great day and afternoon! We will return! Great day!
The Winery at Bull Run Catered our wedding earlier this month, and it couldn't have been more beautiful. The help that the venue offers, the wine itself, and the beautiful scenery/reception rooms were so great that they barely required our own decor. Thank you for all of your help, Amanda!
Went here with 3 other ladies for a day at a Winery. We had a blast! We were able to snag a picnic table and bring our own food. The staff was very accommodating and helpful, though all lines were long. I just wish they had more picnic tables with umbrellas, it got hit quickly! Definitely would recommend for a fun day out of the city.
Gorgeous place, great to bring friends to, live music was genuinely fantastic, food truck had amazing catfish, service was pro and fun to talk to! Loved every minute of this place! 10/10
I took my mama to the winery for a belated Mother's Day gift. We had an awesome time. The historical and wine tasting tour was informative and fun. The property is so pretty. It was a joy to hang out on the pavilion afterward and listen to the live music. We would definitely recommend!
Great place, big and can get busy. Family friendly. WIne was good. We had the white sangria, it was delicious. One of our favorite items there was the wood fired pizza. Delicious!!!
I had a great time. The food truck had some amazing food. The wine was great and the atmosphere was great
Always have such a great time here. Mark led our wine tasting, and he was welcoming, knowledgeable and hilarious. He personally advised us on flavors and pairings, allowing for an exceptional experience. Assistant Manager Charlie was especially helpful with my wine purchase as well. Live music was the cherry on top. Can t wait to return!
This is my favourite winery... and wine also very good ... it's good hangout place with awesome view and music
Went to the Winery today and was astonished at the disorganization. It was a blues festival event and they only had one food vender and parking was dismal. Hope they get more staffing for events in the future.
Beautiful location and scenery, but I won't be going back to this winery again which is too bad, because it really is a nice place. I have a three year old daughter, and brought a guest who was from across the country to enjoy some music, wine, and sunsets... we saw a sign that said families one way, and over 21 (without kids) another way. The security/valet personnel kindly told us since it wasn't too busy we could go up to the adults only section. We were approached as we were sitting down pointing us behind a gated area off to the side/back that said it was for families/kids only. To try to make us feel better, she said "It's actually more shaded over there, it's better!"...I literally felt like I we were being caged, and in troube for having a child, and I've not once experienced that at a local winery. We obviously put our child first, and have a designated driver, and our daughter is very well behaved, loves music and likes to be outside.
I get it, adults want adult-only time. I'm a mom, so I understand this, but I'm also a mom of a very well behaved little girl who wanted to dance with the band, which was a reason I came. We were shoved in an area next to the bathrooms behind a closed gate, most of the tables/umbrellas were tattered and away from the band playing. There's wineries with adult only areas but this was unnecessarily gated off. Maybe just split the yard in front of the patio in half where the bands play with SIGNS that say families this side, adults only this side- not GATING off an area way off to the side, it's just so unwelcoming. Or a time when its adults only, or make it an adult only winery. To put a gate up and make us stay on one side seems a bit rediculous. And, I am sure there was a reason for this you probably had out of control children or families not taking care of the children, or childless adults complaining, but that is when staff comes in, there's better solutions and options than shoving people away and behind a gate. The gate was uncessary and frankly seemed unwelcoming and cold.
Also, the worst part of it was right in front of the band (in the adults only section) were two individuals smoking cigerettes- so, the winery finds children more offensive than someone smoking??? Interesting. For these reasons, I will not be going back, and I have let most of my family friends know of this as well.
Another thing, give your staff some fans or water misters that are out in the tasting area in the yard... it was so hot under there even when we were just standing for the tasting at 5 pm.... they voiced their discomfort, and looked uncomfortable. I could sense disapointment and frustration on your staff's end that they weren't given fans or a way to keep cool out therere in warmer temps (vocalizing to us that there was even electricity and they didn't know why nobody would put fans out there). Their discomfort directly relates to their desire and ability to want to interact with customers. Staff was rude.
Beautiful winery with wonderful staff! A great location for events or to unwind after a busy day.
My husband and I decided to renew our vows after 10 years together and a disasterous wedding. We knew we wanted to have the dream wedding we didn't get the first time and as a wine lover a vineyard/winery made the most sense. We visited 13 vineyards and knew as soon as we talked to Eddie and Natasha that The Winery at Bull Run was where we wanted to renew our vows. The space is absolutely beautiful and they had so many options for us. Both Eddie and Natasha were quick to respond to our questions, provide guidance when needed and went out of their way to make sure we had the perfect night. After things fell apart so badly the first time I was very uneasy about leaving all the set up to someone else but they assured me it would be gorgeous. I was absolutely blown away when I saw how perfect everything was. They made sure it was a stress free day and that every detailed I had dreamed came true. I even was able to get Eddie in the photo booth with me. I couldn't be happier with how things turned out and with Eddie and Natasha. I will be a lifelong visitor (and even got a small tattoo to commemorate!) and would highly recommend not only TWABR but Natasha and Eddie to anyone looking for an event venue!
First time there. Very relaxing. The employees were friendly & informative about their wines.
My wife & I love coming to this place! It is so relaxing and enjoyable, no pressure, and beautiful scenery and history! Its the perfect way to spend the day. Every time we go, they are always setting up for some grand event, that looks spectacular...Its sad that we have to go, and cant stay for the amazing private events they have... but the public events are so fun & creative, love those! Nice work, and keep them coming.
Beautiful winery with great wines. My fiance and I like it so much that I chose it as the place to propose to her. Can't imagine a better location. Lots of outdoor seating as well as attractive indoor bar and tasting area. Lots of wines to chose from. I like every one I've had here, but even if you are more discerning in your tastes, you are sure to find some wines that you'll love.
Also a good place to get some photos for your instagram or facebook.
Wonderful tasting, decent music. Good food truck. A bit loud but very enjoyable
This place is ok. The wines fine, but not great and we didn't find the service or tasting experience to be all that friendly. It is close to DC, which seems to be giving it a huge boost in ratings. We much prefer other wineries in VA to this one in terms of wine quality and setting.
Nice and local. Right off of Rt 29 and within walking distance to the Bull Run Trails. Makes for a great day out hiking and wine tasting.
I most definitely want to give a most shout out to an outstanding associate and assistant manager Kaleigh Henderson who not only did her job with kindness and beyond.. She is an excellent example of how an employee should be. My sincere day was great because of her. I also.want to thank another employee Michael Barbuti for such great service friendliness great asset to your business.,he went above and beyond people like Kaleigh Henderson and Michael Barbuti makes u want to come back to this establishment.
Not the best VA winery but plenty of seating to accommodate a larger group. Prices were on the high side per glass/bottle. I had the Cab Franc and it was average.
The Winery at Bull Run was the best local place to have a girls night. We had my friend's birthday party there and the event staff was fabulous. They arranged for us to have catering from one of their vendors in the tasting room. We had 20 ladies on a chilly afternoon but the warmth of the staff and the picturesque scenery was so inviting that it made for a perfect day!! Everyone loved the private wine tasting, great variety of food and amazing live music. The option to bring your own picnic or select from one of their vendors is such an added bonus, what more could you ask for! I would definitely highly recommend it for anyone looking for a fun outing, a romantic date, a happy hour or family gathering. I have also attended a charity event at The Winery at Bull Run which was absolutely incredible. The Events staff oversees every detail to perfection and they set everything up beautifully. I cant wait to go back!
Very scenic location. Perfect for a small wedding or other event of that sort. Very cute setup.
The Winery at Bull Run is such a beautiful location. This venue has incredible scenery that makes it perfect for portraits and weddings. All photos by Lexy Nicole Photography.
One of the better vineyard/wineries around the DC area. There s plenty of picnic tables. The view is quite nice. We used to love the Delaney white wine ($32) but I think the winery has become so popular that they can t keep up with production so the wines have not been aged very long before they sell them. It tastes like cheap wine...though it s not cheap.
Very scenic. Grab a bottle and some friends with a picnic basket to eat at one of their many tables outside. A good way to spend a couple hours on a nice day.
Awesome Place! Love the environment and the Great Wine!
I work for a nonprofit in Fairfax, VA called FACETS and had the opportunity to work with the staff and events department at the Winery at Bull Run on three awesome occasions. They hosted a staff retreat for us and our staff had an amazing time. The staff at TWBR really have a passion for supporting individuals in need in our community and also hosted a huge festival - Fall Crush Festival - which benefited FACETS. They dedicated a huge amount of time and energy to this event which was a huge success. And to kick off the holiday season the staff at TWBR organized a fundraiser called Tips for Kids which will benefit our Education and Community Development Program over the holiday season. Not only is the wine great - but the staff are wonderful to work with! We are grateful for the partnership.
