Ugh, I want to write a decent and fair review so let's start with what we liked. We paid an extra $100 per night to upgrade to a suite. Why? The regular studio's are tiny with queen beds only. The bathroom was spacious, the room was clean-ish. The front desk staff were very nice. You'll pay an extra $15 per night for parking.
Ok, the rooms were old/ outdated with terribly uncomfortable furniture. Carpeting was just gross. The Prince golf course is closed, which was the main reason we stayed here as it's adjacent to the property.
Pools at this property are TERRIBLE. Small, shallow and not that clean. (Slightly slimy)
Worst part of the pool is the poolside bar. Literally the least friendly staff we have ever encountered at a resort. Example: I ordered the poke nachos. The chips were burned, stale, and cold but the tuna was warm. I politely told the waitress who was unfriendly to begin with that I wanted to send the nachos back for the aforementioned reasons. She said " no problem" , walked over to the nearby trash can (not the bar trash) and dumped them out.
They'll also try to sell you a $63K timeshare which is really laughable given the state of the property.
Too many other great choices in the area...skip this property.
The St. Regis is our favorite but it was sold out so we stayed here. Great property and now it has reciprocal benefits with the St. Regis so win win.
Villas are very well appointed. Restaurant in hotel is excellent and staff are very friendly. The hotel pool is nice and while the beach isn't very close, guests at the westin can use the beach chairs at the St Regis (and charge drinks/food to the westin rooms), and the snorkeling is quite good in Hanalei bay.
Check in/out was smooth. Friendly and helpful staff. The area was very clean at all times. I liked the option of using the bbq area. This was such a relaxing vacation.
Nice location and well appointed resort. No beach access but shuttle available to St Regis to use theirs. However it seems very targeted at families with lots of kids running around.
Relaxing and comfortable. Kids are having a great time in the pools.
Great experience with wonderfully appointed rooms and excellent service.
If weather was more cooperative it would be fsntastic. There is a "Quiet Pool" which is wonderful.
Beautiful pools and great service. Very nice atmosphere. Rooms are very nice and the Westin is in a nice area with beaches close by.
Beautiful grounds, helpful staff, gorgeous pools and general amenities. Parking is horrible and the appliances in the room are loud at night. The AC shuts off during the night so the room gets hot before it kicks back on.
Very pretty area but I can not say much else for the amenities or staff.
Beauty all around you, food market within walking distance. Outstanding views.
Nice sized comfortable rooms. Buildings are spread out throughout property so expect to walk. Ocean views are distant in most buildings. Pool temperatures were too cold at cliffside pool but more tolerable at main pool. Easy to find available pool chairs but pool bar service was slow when it even existed. Staff on property were very friendly, especially Shannon at the bell desk/valet.
Grounds are beautiful, but service is severely lacking.
All around great experience. The service is awesome, the pool is really nice, it's in a great location, and has an excellent view. It's a short drive to Hanalei, so there are plenty of things to do, but also close enough to bigger towns to have access to a more city like atmosphere.
Would highly recommend & would stay here again. Everyone was very friendly & helpful. Rooms were nice & comfortable. Beautiful grounds, 3 pools & 1 designated kiddi-pool with a small waterslide, 3 hot tubs. Helpful & friendly staff. Parking was $13/day. Food on-site is spendy. We had the option to forego room cleaning most days for a free breakfast buffet which was nice but got old after several days so we ended up going out which was just fine. No direct beach access but you can use the St. Regis facilities which is nice.
Had a wonderful time & would recommend this Westin.
Stellar service, pools are small but the adult pool has great views. Rooms are what you'd expect at a 4-star, $300/night hotel. Try to book Building 4 for panoramic views of the golf course and ocean.
the location is 5-star, the service is 4-star, rooms are 3-star (think of 1970's style).
issue is that they try really hard to get you to buy a time-shared property (even though they insist it is not time-shared), and can get a little pushy in the process.
food in their restaurant is below average - highly recommend just going to one of the great restaurants in Hanalei Bay instead
all in all, I would repeat
Location is wonderful. Ocean is in view from room balcony. Friendly and helpful staff. Room is very nice. Washer, dryer, microwave, stovetop gives you that home feel. Very satisfied.
The staff was amazing and so helpful. The resort is stunning with breath taking cliff views for rhe sunrise and sunset. Pools were great too, although I didn't spend much time at them because they are no match for the beautiful beaches
This place is amazing! The customer service is the best I have ever experienced! And holy cow the pools and views are fantastic! Can't wait to come back!
We had a great stay here!
Early check in was no problem - so by 2pm we were already in the pool! Kids had a blast at the "turtle" kids pool with slide. It only would have been nice if the kids pool water would be a bit warmer than the other pools (December). The adult pool is not suited for any form of lap swimming and is no more then 4ft deep. Ki Pool side service was great but too expensive to use as a sole source for lunch. Having a kitchen and plenty of BBQ grills to use around the property is great!
Our room was great with ocean view and super quiet.
Concierge Melody was able to get us a great discount for an helicopter tour and all staff was actually super nice.
Keep in mind that there is no direct Beach access.
As we got a promotional rate we had to attend a vacation ownership sales pitch. It took almost 2 hours and was very friendly, not pushy. We said politely that this isn't for us and that was it.
The gym is fully equipped, including sauna and steam room.
Late check-out wasn't possible but they have 2 complimentary hospitality suites which can be used for 45min, to get ready for the plane/travel.
Overall I wish pricing for onsite food (bar, market and restaurant) would just be a bit lower, I bet they would get much more people using it and made actually more money in the end.
Amazing honeymoon at this place. Super nice staff, they upgraded us for free since we wee on our honeymoon, the beds were so soft, great drinks at the pool side bar, and amazing poke nachos. Has great cliff views to watch whales from(winter months) and a great trail to get to the beach from. Saw 3 sea turtles down there. Beautiful flowers and fire lit trails at night, over all one of the best places to stay on the island.
Rooms are super clean, very quiet, and well equipped. Nice to be able to do your own groceries and cook on the many outdoor BBQ areas available for your use. Great kids pool with slide.
Although all staff are extremely friendly and helpful, I found that the reception staff are unusually resistant to giving any sort of late checkout beyond noon, even when there is lots of availability. Strange that is all, in particular that these are normally perks that are part of being SPG status. (I know they don't fully participate with SPG, but still...)
Overall a great relaxing stay.
Stunning views, awesome accommodations, courteous staff.
Beautiful rooms. Although no beach (they will shuttle you to one) and no concierge lounge, it was a peaceful place to stay. Parking can also be a challenge.
Just DO NOT attend the timeshare pitch, and you will have a pleasant holiday at this lovely property. The facilities are well maintained, there are lots of pool options, the rooms are spacious, and the common amenities are satisfactory. The staff is very friendly too. I've never been on a cruise, but this place is what I imagine the cruise experience would be like, with lots of happy travelers enjoying various common areas. Regarding the timeshare hustle, which is such a bogus financial scam that it merits its own separate review, the sales people will make you feel terrible if you don't write them a big check on the spot, after their 90 minute pitch and comments such as "you would not be wasting my valuable time today if you did not intend to buy a timeshare, so now you must tell me exactly what I need to say to you to make you complete this purchase", which was blasted at me three times. Ruined our day, but my bad for agreeing to attend. Nothing (not even our $100 resort credit) could adequately compensate us for that dreadful experience. If you desperately want to return to this property every year for the rest of your life, go to Timeshare Resales in Hanalei where you can purchase the same vacation club package for less than $10K (versus $63K fixed sales price at property). Same costly $3K/yr maintenance fee (plus maybe special assessments too) forever. Do your research!! So many folks are desperately trying to dump their timeshares, so they have negative market value.
Very nice place, but poolside service was almost nonexistent and maid service was inconsistent.
Nice place, a litte far from beach. It's was also very nice they did not let the owner's know of the loud wedding being held outside their bedrooms.
Only stayed there for one night but the service was great! Do not expect the St-Regis as far as scenery goes but for what it advertise it is spot on. When I told the front desk it was for our first night as husband and wife I was upgraded and they staged the room nicely. Nice views from the balcony. Room was roomy, kitchen was large and well furnished.
Absolutely love it in Princeville! It s close to Hanalei Bay and close to great restaurants. The Westin grounds are beautiful and always well maintained. Can t wait for February for when we go back for the forth year in a row!
The hotel was very clean and the staff was extremely nice. The grounds are beautiful. The room was satisfactory for what we needed but could use some updating for the price you pay. The restaurant was extremely overpriced and the food was not that good. The other downfall is a lot of the excursions are almost an hour plus away depending on traffic.
Very clean and nice place. We enjoyed the restaurant though it s a bit expensive, the food was great as were the drinks! Would definitely revisit.
Great views and excellent service. A little secluded, with limited options for travel, but overall a great place to call your homebase during your Kauai adventure
The property is beautiful, the rooms were great. The view from our room was like a post card.
Awesome service but the crowd is a bit bland lots of high nosed folks that seem to burn a hole into your head with their judging eyes and entitled comments. However if you can get past the tourist atmosphere the locals are super sweet and very helpful. It is pricey tho so be aware
Very calm, peaceful, gorgeous sunrise, and decent pool for the kids
relaxing stay - RUDE owners ....as owners of another Westin Hawaii property, we were floored how rude some of the owners were during our stay. The staff on the other hand were polite, professional and top-notch.
Been here 2 times. The location is among the best and staff is always top notch.
Pool and grounds are lovely. Service is very good. Only downside is no onsite beach access.
After being refused an early check in, and then told to come back every hour or so to see if the room is ready, as they can't call or message international numbers, we left the lobby area. A Manager asked if everything was ok and after explaining the situation he got us a hospitality room to wait it, took care of all our luggage and food and said he would call us when our actual room was ready. About an hour later our room was ready and we moved over to it.
The rooms here are amazing and a full kitchen makes dinner time easy. The only thing missing is a large convection oven. The microwave does do convection but its small.
Pools are amazing, hot tubs hot and the staffn with the exception of the one check-in agent are outstanding
We will be back again
Amazing resort, the free scuba lessons in the pool were a great introduction, really want to go diving, now!
Great property but not beachfront. Enjoyed the multiple pools and hot tubs, food/drink service by the pool was nice, and overall prices reasonable. Rooms a bit dated but clean.
Great landscaping. A lot of great things to do close. Go snorkeling, hiking, beach, watch the sunset.
Everything is typical Hawaii expensive, but this place does it well on everything except the spa (or lack thereof). Their massages are outside, but they jam them in so close when you show up there is someone else getting massaged and they ask you to go somewhere else for a little while.
Very friendly staff and great views from some of the villas.
The best part was the upbeat and friendly vibe everywhere vice the stuffy and stale vibe of the St Regis or other upscale places.
If you go in the winter, the surf is a little more rough and the Napali Coast tours aren't running.
The staff is very accommodating and courteous. The restaurant had great food and drinks
Just visited the pool and bar area.....visiting friends.
Well maintained villa property. All rooms have at least a small kitchen area. Grounds are cleam and well cared for. Staff has always been very friendly.
Great access to beach at St. Regis hotel. 3 pools and hot tubs to use. We had a great room location. Ground floor and kiddie corner to pools and a great sea view!
Newish hotel with nice grounds. No beach access. Suite room layout is bad - there is limited closet space as closets are shared with trash cans and vacuum cleaner. There is a program where they don't clean your room in return for one free breakfast. There is a lot of fine print to this which they may not fully explain at check in when they ask you. One person still pays $30 for a breakfast that would be free at many hotels, it only applies the same day (so if you miss breakfast or have other plans no cleaning and no breakfast), and the last day it doesn't apply. I'm docking a star because there isn't enough value in this and I felt cheated at the end of the stay.
My wife and I love staying at our home resort. This is our home away from home!
Hosted a Bridal Brunch here. The staff was incredibly accommodating and helpful. Beautiful place to meet with friends and enjoy great food! Awesome pool! Beautiful views. And centrally located. Would highly recommend staying & dining here.
Beautiful, peaceful resort! The staff has been extremely helpful and friendly whenever we have needed assistance. Pool is never too crowded and there are plenty of lounge chairs no matter what time you head to the pool. There are jacuzzis around the resort that are never full.
It was a great experience. We attended a timeshare presentation (they don t call it a timeshare). Our rep Matt was great . I wish him well but we already knew coming in we weren t interested. The restaurant on premises was OK . Food could be a bit better and price for anything you buy around this area is bumped up so do yourself a favor and travel 20 minutes south and go to other areas to buy food and souvenirs. Overall great experience .
We got a great deal to come here and had to take a timeshare presentation. The timeshare presentation was absolutely no pressure at all to the point it ended early. This was the nicest group of people I have ever had a chance to engage with for a presentation. And later on that night, the sales lady saw us at a luau, said hi, and gave us each a lei; we didn't even buy a timeshare.
The property is absolutely amazing with family pools and adult quiet pools. The concierge desk was very helpful in helping to find a store to make an origami flower arrangement for my anniversary.
The resort is nice. But the constant noise from the air conditioning (HVAC) made it impossible for us to open the patio window to enjoy tropical breeze. Also, the sink in the studio is tiny. If you are serious about cooking, you may want to get the one bedroom.
Great service nicely decorated and wonderful views.
This is a nice hotel and everything around it is nice. I'd give it 3.75 stars if that option was available. The biggest issues were house cleaning never came and we got locked out of our room.
Room was clean, comfortable, and had everything needed for an extended stay. Resort location is beautiful.
The hotel is meticulously maintained. Everything is clean and good working order. Rooms were up to date, modern and clean. The grounds are gorgeous. The pools are beautiful and clean. The food was so good at Nanea restaurant. The pool restaurant was OK. They seem to be going through a management transition because we did encounter a few slight problems with the check in process (someone tried to enter our room at 11:30 pm one night b/c they assigned it to another guest - not sure how that happened). They offered to compensate us for the inconvenience with 2 free breakfasts and then we tried to use it and they said they had no idea what we were talking about. Took talking to a few people to get it straightened out.
I can't say enough good things about Nanea restuarant. The service was exceptional and the food was so good.
Staff are very nice and helpful. Was able to get a lot of information about the fun things to do on the island!
Had a island view room that was clean and quiet. The laundry machine in unit is a plus and I had a great experience
Small room. Nothing unique or special about this property. We were in a lockout unit.
Great facility. Vacation home / time share setup. Modern, functional. Beautiful setting, multiple pools / hottubs with lots of lounge chairs. Each unit has laundry and cooking facilities, outdoor BBQs plentiful. We really enjoyed our stay here. Service was good. They will try to sell you on vacation property but we didn't experience a hard sell. Complementary parking.
Great resort for families. Several kid-friendly pools, but also a few whirlpools and a "quiet" pool on the edges of the property that are reserved for some adult relaxation. They also have grills that are popular. At least one time during our stay, we grab some salmon and vegetables from the market about 5 min down the street and grill them for dinner. I think this is one of the best "easy" properties on the north side of the island to vacation at. We've been there 4 times and have enjoyed it each time.
Super staff, beautiful grounds, very comfortable rooms.. will be back!
