Taj experience is always a great exp.the food and the ambience is good.i still feel the staff coujd show more of personal touch like the senior staff.i feel the new staff is more like robots.no personal touch.

A place that was turned due to architecture misinterpretation. This was supposed to be the back face that was accidentally made as the front end. Still its a marvelous piece of architecture.

Well all our diplomatic parties and government events take place here. Good food and good brand. Of course the biggest in India and expensive too. But it's only for the classy. Would definitely recommend.

Obviously as is famous its super cool place except for the petty guys working at the entrance, lobby, etc. They need some professional grooming up and spoken English upgradation.

Not much you can write on this ....Shah Jehan has made this place...a work of love.

Diamond by the sea the Taj Mahal Palace is an architectural jewel in Mumbai. The foundation of the Taj was laid in 1898, and the hotel opened its gates to the guests for the first time on December 16, 1902, even before the foundation for the Gateway of India was laid (on March 31, 1911). It is located in Colaba, beside the Gateway of India, and used to be the first sight for ships calling at the Bombay port before the construction of the Gateway. Taj Mahal Palace was the first building in Bombay to be lit by electricity.

At one time, it was believed that Jamshedji Tata was inspired to build this hotel after he was refused entry at Watson s Hotel, which was restricted to whites only. However, this story has often been challenged by various commentators who claim that Jamshedji had built this grand hotel to gift the people a royal experience worthy of Bombay.

The Indian architects originally on the project for the Taj were Sitaram Khanderao Vaidya and D. N. Mirza; however, it was completed by an English engineer, W. A. Chambers. Khansaheb Sorabji Ruttonji Contractor was the builder of this grand hotel, and the unique floating staircase of the Taj was his design. Construction of the Taj cost over Rs. 4 crores. The hotel is a six-story building with a central Moorish dome and magnificent architecture of the Indo-Saracenic style. This royal palatial building is carved with Victorian Gothic and Romanesque details along with Edwardian touches on the roof. The hotel boasts of many firsts in the Indian hospitality industry it used American fans, German elevators, Turkish baths and English butlers to give the people of its city an experience like no other hotel in the country.

The location is historic which is opposite of gateway of India. We see the see face in our room also. This hotel offers the great service. But cost is very high.

Awesome place..... It's quite expensive for common man....
But it's a luxurious hotel in India....

Left to attend the function presided by the president of india and Chief minister.

During dinner water glasses were taken away and when asked for refill waiters point blank refused.fellow guests suggested that they can borrow some glass and water from bar and again were shocked when we were told its not hotel policy and this has been approved by our senior managment.

So much for taj hospitality.

Breakfast, Tea and dinner at the sea lounge amazing place and very relaxing takes u away from the hustle and bustle of the city and if u lucky u might get to see bollywood stars saw Salman Khan and his brothers having tea stayed here few times now not even once it disappointed me cant wait to stay there again

Went as a guest for the function held in the honour of 242nd anniversary of independence of USA by the US Consulate General Mumbai at the Crystal Room followed by dinner at the Ball Room (with a short visit to the Sea Lounge where a live piano was being played). Must say, the place has a rich history and heritage. The decor and the artwork takes you to the era of the Maharajahs n Maharanis and the Stately princes. A place where the rich heritage of the past and the contemporary showrooms complement each other under same room

But, apart from that you'll love the stay and food. There are many restaurants available inside. Stay offers you royale luxury! It's just awesome!!!! Due to the lockdown Taj Mahal palace is closed for the guests...but I had visited this place from the outside for my evening walk,the structure built in 1903 stands elegantly with resplendent Beauty...the entire periphery of the hotel gives you the feeling of the timeless Victorian era....

Historic luxury hotel, witnessed all kind of types of travellers from ordinary to head of state. Was staying here first time in 1998, long time ago! Still remember fondly my room 1809 (stay for 6 months). Great location & nice walking around as in South Mumbai!

Its a great experience to be in Taj Mahal Palace Hotel. The life changes once you step in. The sheer luxury turns on & takes your breath away.
I could only go till the hotel lobby and waited for my Director who came to India, Mumbai.

It is one of the most beautiful hotels I've seen . Historically it is very significant. And in light of the recent terrorist attack , it has become even more significant. In true Tata way of treating people , the employees who lost their lives are remembered everyday by the candles lit in their name. Their names are engraved and put up on a wall. It was a touching gesture .
