Visiting the Taj is like going down memory lane. One can discuss the history of the entire century, and how Taj shaped the south Mumbai status.

Always grand, always serene, always vibrant, it is a great pleasure to celebrate goodness at the Taj.

One of the most memorable experiences I have had during these testing times. Thank you Taj, IHCL for giving us a beautiful experience. It's so well maintained with sanitizing in the smallest of the things you can't even imagine of. Safety in place with staff courteous and polite. Thank you again!

We had a few hours to kill so we popped into the Taj Shamiana for a coffee and stayed for lunch. The food didn't disappoint and, needless to say, the setting left nothing to be desired. I look forward to visiting their other restaurant concepts.

The Gateway of India is an arch monument built during the 20th century in Mumbai, India. The monument was erected to commemorate the landing of King George V and Queen Mary at Apollo Bunder on their visit to India in 1911
When it opened in 1903, the hotel was the first in India to have: electricity, American fans, German elevators, Turkish baths and English butlers. Later it also had the city s first licensed bar, India s first all-day restaurant, and the India s first discotheque

The Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, is a heritage, five-star, luxury hotel built in the Saracenic Revival style in the Colaba region of Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, situated next to the Gateway of India. Historically it was known as the "Taj Mahal Hotel" or simply "the Taj". The hotel is considered one of the finest hotels in the East since the time of the British Raj.

It was one of the main sites targeted in the 2008 Mumbai attacks.

Part of the Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces, this hotel with its 560 rooms and 44 suites is considered the flagship property of the group; it employs some 1,600 staff. The hotel is made up of two different buildings: the Taj Mahal Palace and the Tower, which are historically and architecturally distinct from each other (the Taj Mahal Palace was built at the start of the twentieth century; the Tower was opened in 1973). The hotel has a long and distinguished history, having received many notable guests, from presidents to captains of industry and stars of show business. Ratanbai Petit, the second wife of the founder of Pakistan, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, lived in the hotel during her last days in 1929; her mother, Sylla Tata, had born into the Tata family, builders and owners of the hotel. During World War I, the hotel was converted into a military hospital with 600 beds. The hotel is notorious as the most visible target of the 2008 Mumbai attacks.

In 2017, the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel acquired an image trademark,[8] the first building in the country to secure intellectual-property-right protection for its architectural design.

The original building of the hotel was commissioned by Tata. Its doors opened to guests on 16 December 1903.

It is widely believed that Jamsetji Tata decided to build the hotel after he was refused entry to one of the city's grand hotels of the time, Watson's Hotel, as it was restricted to "whites only". However, this story has been challenged by many commentators who suggest that Tata was most unlikely to have been concerned with 'revenge' against his British adversaries. Instead, the Taj was built at the urging of editor of The Times of India who felt a hotel "worthy of Bombay" was needed and as a "gift to the city he loved" by Tata.

I visited Shamiana Restaurant in the Taj for dinner and felt the place is really upbeat. Took a corner table and enjoyed my romantic dinner with some fine Italian food. Nachos and Pasta made my evening.

I have been to this palace many times before, but this time around the entire staff specially the manger Rachit was quite rude and no where showed the value of Taj Hotel. The entire experience of visiting the shamina was pathetic.

If you tell them about the quality of food they start asking so many questions and even throwing the blame on the customer.

Unforgettable

One of the most beautiful hotels I've ever stayed in, with impeccable service, customer focused service and beautiful architecture and decor. This was a very special 1,5 days stay for my mum's birthday and we were treated with a free upgrade to Club rooms, her bedrooms was full of treats to celebrate her anniversary and we felt very well looked after. The pool was fantastic, they would even offer you mist and towels for a bit of a refresh. Absolutely wonderful views and the whole setting is just out of this world. We stayed in the main building and would certainly not be open to stay at the adjacent Tower. Well done Taj. Keep it, as is, forever.

Lunch at the Sea Lounge was a phenomenal experience...worth every penny paid. The staff is a class apart and the food as well. One can enjoy a panoramic view of the Gateway of India and the Arabian Sea

I would have loved to give it more stars but alas we only have 5. This is one property you would want to stay at, atleast once in your life time. The historic structure gives you the British era Royalty feel and the staff goes out the way to make you feel like Royalty. TAJNESS, the philosophy of Taj, is on full display here. Overlooking the Gateway of India, this property and the Taj hospitality, make it an amazing place to spend quality time with your family.

I am talking about my experience outside the hotel. It is a crowded place with the Gate way of India nearby. Apart from the architectural marvel of the hotel building and the Gateway nothing much to do.

I wish I could afford more stays or get more chance to visit and explore more sections and services sometimes if possible or if I get some offer or promo in future I would like to make small video on it and put in my YouTube channel for sure. The Taj Mahal Palace. Cosseting guests in old-fashioned grandeur, Mumbai's most iconic hotel is much loved by its well-heeled and glossy locals. Generations have celebrated life's milestones here, making this more than just the city's best luxury hotel, but part of its beating heart.
