The room was beautiful and private. The whole building is gorgeous. They have a hand washing station just outside the front door. The staff is kind and helpful. We will definitely be coming back!

Love the atmosphere! Staff was excellent, food was absolutely outstanding(brunch and Dinner)! Bed was comfortable and the pillows all had different firmness so there is one for everyone's likeness. Check in and out was easy. Fast WiFi. Excellent selection of alcohols.

Decor is also very intriguing in a good way. Very nice setting, this is not the Hilton but more of a great old fashioned hotel with a very good twist of modern vibe. Books in the room and every inch of the hotel there is something to see whether it be antique furniture or artworks that are all in excellent condition. I would say this is a one of a kind hotel.

Only things I didn't like was that the key come with a block of wood(3x3x1) attached to it which is uncomfortable at best. Coffee was available at 7am which is late for myself. Ac was a little louder than expected but the room had its own Ac unit and heater.

Also there isn't an elevator or tv. Smoking outside the front only which is to be expected.

The hotel is stunning beautiful. In the restaurant do not order the lamp very chewy did not enjoy at all and love lamb usually. The meat cut just was not good. Octopus was yummy and shish Barak my friend had was to die for

Just here for brunch. Menu was not exotic - I had an omelet with home fries - but everything was executed to perfection. Old world feel to the decor. Was a bit noisy at first, but that may have been mostly due to one large party.

Tabard Inn is so cozy on a winter day! Went for lunch and the food is good but nothing to write home about IMO. The best part about Tabard Inn is the cozy room with the burning fire, and the great ambiance.

We booked a reservation through "open table" since the reservation was suggested on the restaurant site, and I got the confirmation email. When we arrived they could not find the reservation, which didn't end up being an issue since they were not very busy. However, I would be concerned if I were making reservations on a busier night.
We we had the worst service you could ever imagine. Even though the restaurant was not busy, they sat us beside a table of 8. We had the same waiter as that table, even though there were other waiters with a table of one or two. Our waiter basically ignored us, never checked to see how we liked our food, and at end of the night it took him 15 minutes to come and give us our check.
The food was fair, but very small portions for a very high price. We never got to desert, because it took the waiter so long to come back to the table after it was cleared, that we just wanted to get out.

Brunch at Tabard Inn is apparently a "necessary DC rite of passage", but I was honestly a bit disappointed with the food, service, and decor. First, it's pretty dark in the restaurant and the decor is just meh. When I think of brunch, I think of light, bright restaurants. This place seems more suited for dinner. Second, food seems overhyped. I tried the cinnamon and sugar doughnuts and the scrambled eggs with cream cheese and chives. Both just okay, nothing spectacular or mindblowing. I prefer Kafe Leopold or Blue Duck Tavern for brunch than Tabard Inn. Maybe I have to come back for dinner and see if that's the ticket for this place.

Tabard Inn is one of our favorite restaurants for a really nice meal. The food is always very well prepared and the service is consistently good. Desserts are always excellent. It's a little loud when full, but not so much you can't hear. Overall, a very good restaurant.

Went for brunch, amazing selection of brunch items. I ordered the chicken and waffles with a side of grits. The chicken was perfect, the bacon waffle was decadent, and the grits were flavorful. Prices weren't too bad for the area. Get there early!

Dropping into this neighborhood tavern for drinks, one is immediately met with a quaint, and historic air, and sometimes even live Jazz. The tabbard is terrific for those chilly nights, when the fireplace is lit, and the drinks are warm. A mix of locals and guests of the hotel, the feeling of the space and clientele is intimate and friendly. The patio is charming, the drinks are prompt. The Tabbard offers a terrific kind of local flavor.

Convenient, affordable, funky (in the best sense of the word), this is the most personable inn I ve ever experienced. The clientele is interesting too. The first floor restaurant is excellent for any meal. If you want to watch tv, there is one in the drawing room where watching is a shared experience. The decor is mismatched. Bed linens always cotton and crisp. If only there were such inns in every city!

Warm and cozy with a nice happy hour and great staff and service. Attentive without intrusion. Wife loves the fireplace. We got a free appetizer because there was a mistaken order so they asked if we would like to try it. Delicious

I cannot speak highly enough of this place. Amazing service at the restaurant and bar. Amazingly quaint rooms at the inn. This is the place to stay if you enjoy quality service, quality food and quality drinks. Employee owned and operated by people who truly care about the product they put out. I will be back any time in in town.

The rooms are interconnected like a maze, but each one filled with sparkling glassware and dim lighting. The server's and hosts are all ready to help with any of your needs. The water glasses are never allowed to be even half empty. The food was fresh and the dishes proudly showed were they are sourced from. The vegetarian dishes sound as interesting as the meat dishes, which is often not true at other establishments.

This has been and remains my "go to" Hotel in Washington, DC. From the front desk staff, to the cleaning team, and extending to the library, restaurant and bar servers - this is one Class Act place that never disappoints!

Wonderful experience. Greeted right away, sat down quickly. Attentive waitstaff, very helpful. Delicious desserts, amazing cocktails. The atmosphere and decor is cliche in a hipster way - but it's actually authentic, and the building has so much history. It's a great place.

Had dinner here on the fly. Our previous dinner reservations fell through and we were looking for some place nearby and stumbled upon this quaint restaurant. We were offered seating in the outdoor patio area, which was perfectly cooled by the breeze and fans. Our waiter paid the perfect amount of attention to us and made sure our wine glasses were never empty. There was a sommelier, but he might have also been one of the managers, he was very good and made an excellent suggestion for a bottle of wine for the evening. The food was pricey but delicious and well worth the price. I have no complaints on the evening there. There was no pressure for the table to be turned over and we spent three hours there eating and drinking. I will definitely go back the next time I am in the DC area, and will look into booking a room as well, the inn looks like a very nice place to stay.

This is one of the worst rooms (room 58) we have ever had. It was at the very top 4th floor, and, as two 70 plus people, we were lucky to be in good enough shape to go up and down. The room had a bathroom without a door and that also was open through wall cutouts to the living area (no bathroom fan). Calls to the front desk were never answered. When we checked in, we had to chase someone down to get service. Service people were nice, but the place lacks competence. We actually pulled up and left without staying the second night. The restaurant was great. Better to stay next door at the Klimpton Topaz Hotel and go to the Tabard Inn restaurant.

The place has no elevators.

The place has no elevators.
The rooms are small .
If you book online , they will charge you for 2 beds rooms , it s not the same price .
We ended up checking out on the same day !
Friendly staff / clean overall!
If you love old stuff , you ll enjoy it ! But I didn t know it s old and small .

Didn't get to experience many food or drink. Actually, in the hour and a half we were there, only managed to get one drink. The waitress and atmosphere were wonderful, but there was just one waitress in the lounge area. However, there were 3 hostesses and 3 managers just standing around and not one helped to pick up the slack. Good drinks, but service seriously needs to be worked on.

My favorite place to stay in Washington DC. The rooms are simple and charming, the restaurant is fun, and the place is fun to spend time in. It's well located and affordable. If you want TVs and fancy stuff then go to the Holiday Inn. If you want ambiance this is the place.

Do not come here, eat here or even bother. By coming you will ruin one of the best kept secrets. Where do I start??? Ownership is 50/50 and I can tell you the owner employees are SPECTACULAR!!!
Let me embelish on the Inn, quirky, art filled and a treat. We stayed in room 12 KING bed private bath fireplace and truly a retreat from the hustle and bustle of DC.
A complete sanctuary.
Bar quaint relaxed and just all that, the indoor/outdoor patio is the secret garden where your mood is changed and relaxed. THE FOOD ??? Ah ooh wow the chef has his fare well in order.

PLEASE DONT CROWD THE PLACE AND CREATE A DEMAND !!! KEEP THIS PLACE A SECRET !!!

The Tabard Inn has the best brunches ever. They give you these cake-like sweet breads in the beginning that are very very delicious. The wait time however is a bit on the the longer side, but the wait is definitely worth it. I got the corned beef hash and the smoked salmon bagel. The smoked salmon is curesd in house and is super delicious. Both entrees were large portions that filled us up for the entire day. Literally.
