My daughter phoned in our reservation and specifically asked if the menu for the evening was price fixed. She was told no. We arrive and the table was not ready. We order a drink in the lobby area and then magically the table becomes available. We are seated and our waiter explains the price fixed options. First strike. Caesar salad doesn't use the best part of the romaine and looks like it was prepared yesterday. Four oysters on the platter and for the price tag should have been six. Three steaks are returned to be cooked properly and the potatoes were cold. Second strike. Service was poor. Over hyped for the third strike.

This is a quaint, cozy and pleasant place to stay or dine. The dining area seems somewhat haphazardly put together, as if it were built by joining multiple rowhouses to build a single dining room, but that adds to the coziness.

Very nice historical restaurant. Cozy and romantic atmosphere. Good fusion food with an asian and hispanic flavors, good wine selection. Lacking of chocolate desserts and took too long to come back and take our order (that's why we didn't order any).

Classic, romantic place in dc. Never stayed here butt the food and bar is great. This is one of those classic places in dc that's been around so long and been doing a good job for so long, you value it more now that there are so many "new" hipster places.

I always stay here on business trips. Rooms are large, full of antiques and art, and if you are lucky will include a large bathroom with a real claw and ball tub. It is the antidote to the generic corporate hotel wasteland. Great restaurant, funky lounge. Two blocks from DuPont Circle.

The restaurant was a fun quirky place. The atmosphere was very unique and fun. I really appreciated the old style decor and furnishing! The food was amazing, particularly the lamb chops on a stick appetizer.

I've only ever been here to eat and never for the Inn, so this is a review solely for the restaurant.

The food is on point. The last time I went, we got their donuts and a selection of brunch entrees. Each one was delicious and no one was disappointed. I would recommend trying to get seating "outside" if possible. The decor is spectacular and I believe they can also seat you in the rain since their is technically some roofing overhead.

Quaint, historically decorated, attached to their hotel. We were there for brunch. Food was good and prices reasonable for DC. The main dining room is tight and it was rather loud that day. The other problem for me is they had the door to the patio open, and the weather had turned cold and damp which meant I was close to freezing. The Latino music at the bar didn't go with the setting.

Awesome drinks and lounge area. Can't speak about the inn itself as I've never stayed here, but I've certainly enjoyed the food every time I've come. Had an average breakfast once, which is the worst thing I can say about the place. Mainly, you should come to have a cocktail when the weather is cold, though.

Went to brunch and ordered a Caesar salad and was served a totally different salad... the waiter then said, "Oh, you did not order the apple and goat cheese salad?" Also, the corned beef hash was bland. A one and done for me.

Some of the best cocktails in the city. The atmosphere is unbeatable; it's *actually* historic, not because it's trying to put on a show and change its decor to fit, but because it's a historic site. They do a great job. In winter, they keep a big fire going in the actual fireplace they have in the front room. Have an old fashioned and sit by the warmth; it's great.

I came for a late breakfast on a Saturday and was seated immediately. I had the French toast, which was wonderful. I could taste every ingredient the menu listed, in perfect balance. The donut was very fresh and tasty as well. I was impressed by the speed and professionalism of the staff. It felt like high class dining.

Hidden gem. My wife and I enjoyed a delicious meal on Tabard Inn's patio. Amazing ambiance and some great old school music. Traditional dishes with delectable twists. The perfectly cooked scallops were paired with a tasty wasabi aioli. My wife loved her hen with collard greens and garlic rice. The waitstaff was very attentive. It is a great place for a date night. Top marks.

I visited the restaurant at the Tabard Inn, not the hotel. The cocktails were FABULOUS, they had two choices for potato vodka, and the bartender was quick and professional. The service was lovely too. But I have allergy/diet needs and there just wasn't much on the menu that was easily modified for my dietary needs. The ambience was great, also loved the string duo (trio?). Because of my dietary needs, I wouldn't eat there again. But I'd *definitely* visit the bar!

Adorable and elegant 1920's construction boarding house style hotel. Endless detail throughout. Comfortable beds and supreme location. The restraunt/bar captures a classic feeling with a fine menu and cocktail offerings. One thing to be aware of, there is no elevator in this hotel, and there are no cribs available for young children. Otherwise I've enjoyed my stay and as a DC resident I highly recommend this to folks looking for something different than your cookie cutter NYC hotel room.

Went for a friend's birthday party and got some excellent cocktails in the lovely lounge area. Plenty of space and a good vibe with a live jazz duet on that Sunday. Food wasn't anything special.

Have been to the Tabard Inn several times, but only for brunch and/or drinks. Prices are regular for the DC area, drinks are good but nothing to write home about, on the other hand brunch food is excellent and the small patio in the back is perfect in warm weather. I strongly encourage going at least once for brunch!

We were not blown away despite the excellent reviews. We opted for a nice indoor table to beat the D.C. heat. I can hardly remember what I ordered which says a lot about my overall impression. Maybe I just didn't order the right menu items as it did appear to be fairly creative. Service was reasonably good. The wine list was OK. Honestly I will probably not opt to return.

We could not have had a better experience staying at the Tabard Inn than we did. My husband, 2 daughters and I stayed one night. We loved the charming atmosphere at the hotel and appreciated all the beautiful antiques. Our room was large with 2 beds and a private bathroom. In the morning we had a delicious breakfast that was included with the price of the room. We had the most delicious scones I've ever had and a bowl of cantaloupe and honeydew, eggs, bacon, toast, home fries and pancakes. All delicious. It was a great visit! I highly, highly recommend The Tabard Inn!

Booked this hotel in a hurry when a friend of mine was in a desperate situation; called the hotel up after booking to confirm some things, and Tony at the front desk was extremely hospitable and offered to help my friend in any way he could since I could not be there. He brought the luggage up to the room and made them feel completely comfortable, and I will forever be grateful to both Tony and this charming inn. To top everything off, my friend LOVED how cute this place was, and the breakfast the next morning she described as delicious! Thank you Tabard Inn, and especially thank you Tony for everything!

This is definitely the most interesting hotel I have been to. It is a historic building that has been well preserved. There is vintage furniture and beautiful antique decorations and art all around. One can spend hours observing and getting acquainted with them. The rooms are certainly on the smaller side and do not expect immaculately clean rooms. The bathroom did not have a door (at least, in the room we stayed in) however the rooms and everything in the hotel certainly have character and your stay here will be anything but dull!

What a unique experience in DC! This is truly a classic inn from the interior decor to the service. The rooms are quite comfortable but expect an open concept bathroom which can affect privacy if you are sharing. Check out the restaurant and bar, super fun!

Wow. This place is a real treat. It's an employee owned business. Service was absolutely amazing. Met one of the owners and can't say enough great things about this place. The building is like a museum, the food was amazing and everyone was extremely helpful, can't waite to visit again.

The place is very nice and full of character. Staff is very friendly and helpful. It s perfect if you like old style places. The place is clean but doesn t look shiny as it s very old. Location is great and easy access to many to places to visit. The restaurant is very cozy, not so many options which was little disappointing but the food turned out to be very delicious. Other thing I liked about this place is mostly owned by staff. I would definitely stay here again when I come back to dc.

The food is good (not great) and the drinks are reasonably priced, but despite the quirky atmosphere and decorations, I just can't get excited about this place. There's nothing wrong with The Tabard Inn, but there's nothing particularly exciting about it either. They do have fantastic donuts, though... definitely worth getting those.
