Tabard Inn is a lovely little bar by DuPont Circle. I've been there a handful of times for drinks and always had incredible service. A relaxing and sophisticated setting with a beautiful outdoor patio.

Brunch on Sun, 20 JUL 2014
Expect a 30-60 min wait during peak hours, but it's worth the wait!

Food: 5 stars, recommend the sunny side up eggs over salmon hash for a salty fix.
Drinks: 4 stars, for being icy and pricey, but hey this is DC
Service: 5 stars- Javier was especially prompt, polite, and helpful. Kudos to the staff at Tabard Inn!

We had such a lovely dinner here during our honeymoon. We had reservations on 4/26 at 5:30 pm. I wish I could remember the name of our server so I could mention her. She was lovely, attentive, and made great food and wine recommendations. The pork chops melted in my mouth and the house made strawberry digestif at the end of the meal was delicious. What a wonderful memory we made!

One of the best and most forgotten lounges for a quiet, comfortable drink. The food is solid - fairly seafood forward at dinner - but done well with a nice courtyard in the back. A unique experience, for sure.

A great retreat from the bustling Dupont Circle area bars and restaurants. Comfy low-key lounge with a wood burning fireplace and hot cider during the winter. Planning on coming back to try out the restaurant.

Exceptional food, cozy ambiance, outstanding service. Drinks and food both possessed bold flavors, such as the filet mignon's peppercorn sauce and the trout's raspberry and pomegranate sauce. Will definitely return.

A wonderful fine. From the hostess to our wonderful waiter. It was a fabulous brunch. I had an egg white omelet...delicious. They are known for their donuts, which my friends told were wonderful.

The staff were really friendly but the food was honestly bad. The $22 spring risotto was very poorly done. They used long grain rice rather than the arborio rice one would expect for risotto. Overall, the risotto was completely bland. The $29 short rib special was surprisingly tough for a dish that's meant to be slow cooked, but the flavors were ok. It's just overpriced for totally subpar food. Won't be returning.

Dinner was fantastic. Had drinks beforehand in a nice sitting room with couches and tables and a nice fire in the fireplace. The service was excellent as well as the food. I had the pork ribeye and my companion had the seared scallops. Everything was delicious and prepared well. Only regret is not staying for dessert. Staff was super friendly and attentive.

We were thrilled to finally have the chance to eat at the Tabbard Inn, hearing much buzz about it. Unfortunately, we probably won't go back. The service was horrible and the food was really just, "ok." The fact our reservation for brunch was at 2:00 may have had much to do with it, as they seemed to be changing the dining room over as we ate, but it was no excuse for the service.

Final conclusion: Awesome ambiance with a much overrated experience. Very disappointed, on the whole.

Recently ,I had a dinner meeting over there. It was over priced , the food wasn't the same in the menue , seafood Palle with rabbit sausages which missed the sausages !!! then after they brought 3 slices for us. The scallope dish was very bland. Just the drink selection was good. Also the noise level was so loud .

My favorite place for a nice relaxing yet refined brunch. I have tried practically everything on the menu and you can't go wrong with any of the selections. You do, however, have to try the freshly made doughnuts. If you intend to go for brunch, please make a reservation. In the spring and summer time the outdoor garden seating is highly coveted. I suggest showing up a bit earlier and let the hostess know your preference. While you're waiting for your table there is a nice little library area where you can peruse through old books, a rarity these days for someone like me who prefers to read on an iPad. You can also explore the hotel, though I like to reserve this activity for after the meal to show my guest around.

The restaurant is in the back of the hotel, beyond a charming little parlor area which has live music depending on the day of the week. The food is very tasty. But on our visit they could have had an additional server to help smooth the rush of dinner patrons but service was very good.

This is old-DC at its finest. Service was great and the food was amazing. Very diverse menu with something for everyone. I had the lamb burger. And it was awesome. Not "lamby" at all. Seasoned well and accompanied by complex flavors in the sauces. Did not mess with the recipe.

I attended the Tabard Inn for a friends birthday breakfast. Upon arriving to the complimentary private room, there were baskets of warm muffins and breads. Our table also ordered donuts, which were amazing. The main breakfast entrees were also in generous portion and very tasty. I highly recommend this place for a unique dining experience. The whole building is decorated very nicely and the charm of it having the feel of an inn makes the experience unique.

Are in the restaurant but didn t stay in the hotel: Delicious flavors with well-made sauces. A creative seasonal risotto rounds out the only vegetarian entree - but it doesn t disappoint! Try the burrata for a fresh take on pairing citrus with creamy cheese, and ask for a recommendation for a Spanish or French wine.

The waitress was not very friendly, and it's a pity that the restaurant is not willing to accommodate people with dietary restrictions (because they do not like to make substitutions). Also, it's a bit expensive-it's not worth paying $ 12 for a mimosa. However, the food was delicious, including the donuts that are the specialty of the house.

I just had a fantastic breakfast there this morning with great service and my omelette and potato cooked exactly how I asked! As a long time Dupont resident, I love when a local favorite continues to be a place I'm excited to bring friends to any time I can. Our waiter was also friendly and helpful. I will say that as we were leaving, there were a few concerned people around Dante - Tabard's "mascot" who is a 5 year old bulldog - on the sidewalk. He was not responsive and looked extremely skinny. If the hotel has a dog - which I think is amazing - it's terrible that Dante is in such bad shape. He is clearly sick and instead of showing concern or compassion, the hotel bellman just tried to get Dante to move and he clearly couldn't. A vet tech who happened to come by on the street said he looked very ill. Something was clearly wrong with Dante - he's sick. And the bellman kept saying he's fine, yet the dog could not move and was not responsive. Then the bellman went inside and got another staff member who just scooped up the dog and was rude and defensive, saying they're aware Dante has health challenges. All the people on the street wanted to hear was that Dante is well cared for and being looked after. Honestly, we thought poor Dante was dead on the sidewalk. He's in BAD shape. The staffer was rude as if our concern was offensive when this poor animal is quite sick. If he is really the Tabard's mascot - TAKE CARE OF HIM. It made me sick to my stomach and that the staffer was RUDE and defensive definitely changes my opinion of the establishment, which is so disappointing, especially after such a nice dining experience this morning.

Very nice place both as an Inn and restaurant. My room was overly large and filled with antiques. There wasn't a tv in my room. The restaurant was very large including an outdoor patio. Excellent choice for a unique place to stay and a great brunch for sure and likely a good meal anytime.

Tabard Inn is a good place to take out of town guests for an un-Washington experience, particularly for brunch. It's quaint and borderline kitschy yet popular and energetic. The menu is ambitious and drool-worthy, though the execution is average heavy, salty, and otherwise unremarkable. The best thing they do is the muffin basket and fresh doughnuts, both worth the indulgence. Service is spotty, and clearly disinterested in anything less than an exorbitant bill. It's ridiculous that Tabard Inn's popularity demands a reservation 3+ weeks in advance, and brings the food's quality into sharp focus. C'est la vie in DC.
