One of the most unique hotels/restaurants I have ever been to. Huge art collection, friendly staff, and a beautiful patio. They also have the most adorable dog. Even if you don't have a need to stay in a room, do yourself a favor and stop by for a drink and a bite to eat.

If you re into unique spots this is it. Staff was laid back but was there to assist if needed. The lounge area was dark and cozy, the drinks were strong, and the food was amazing - we only had breakfast but if lunch and dinner was anything like what we had you would not be disappointed. Our room itself was adorable. The whole Inn was remodeled but kept its old feel to it. My dad and I were very impressed with the spot.

Great food, but service is not the best. We were never sure who our waiter was because so many different people served us. We were also not checked on frequently and felt rushed out right when we were finished eating.

Overrated. My experiences with The Tabard Inn were overall positive but it has been nothing to rave about. Both the service and the food were just okay. The supposedly infamous donuts were best described as "it didn't suck" and you most More

Standard brunch experience. It's a classic DC brunch spot but in that classic DC restaurant way it's more hype than substance. That said, the inn is cool to walk through, the restaurant has some charm, and the food is passable. Be sure to avoid the espresso.

A surprisingly quaint little inn in downtown DC. The decor and lighting made for an intimate atmosphere, and the dishes each offered a satisfying combination of otherwise counter-intuitive flavors. I'm quite glad that I got dessert as well, a more simple menu there but perfect execution.

The Tabard Inn is a charming, seemingly open-air, European cafe-style haven of unique culinary combinations and excellent service. I had the special soup du jour, Sweet Potato Lentil, and the special of the Shrimp & Grits, which were served with sauteed vegetables and sausage, the latter of which truly made the meal. The decor is ecclectic but this serves as the theme of the dining room. A walk from the dining room to anywhere else in the restaurant will satisfy the interests of anyone interested in portraiture, still life, and photography of yesteryear. I truly felt rested within the walls of the Tabard Inn, yet I only stopped in for lunch. It was hearty and filling. Can one any for any more?

Just a great experience music in the lounge and drinks with the fireplace keeping us warm. We had grilled shrimp with Hummus and Pita wedges. There is valet parking. It was a relaxing end to a busy day. The waitress kept us happy can't wait to go back again.

The lobby and restaurant areas are charming and unique which also means they are a bit cramped and acoustically challenging. The food was delicious however, and the service was great at the table.

Bah! This is an excellent brunch, and absolutely worth the stellar ratings it gets. I called them on Wednesday to book a brunch for 2 on Saturday, and they only had one spot left. Luckily, it worked with my schedule, but make sure to call ahead.

The food was excellent and not over-proportioned. And it's true, you can't leave without trying the housemade donuts. Even those of you who swear off donuts like the plague; it's different and more worth it to have these.

The decor is very well put-together. Reminds me of a couple places in Big Sur, California with the meandering, tight hallways and the quirky rooms. Enjoy!

The service was very slow and the server did not check on our table once after the meal was delivered. If she had, she might have noticed I barely ate my poached eggs and grits,(the grits were horrible), and that my husband's French toast was barely lukewarm. Very disappointing.

My stay was an extensive disappointment. While in a great location and with nice staff, the first room I was in (44) had a very unsanitary bathroom (shower had no separation from the rest of the floor, thus flooding the whole bathroom).

Although this was not the case in my new room (35), there were issues related to filthy & uncomfortable furniture, bad lighting, no work desk, no coffee/tea maker, and a weak air-conditioner.

I understand this is a historical building but would still not recommend the hotel absent some renovations. I appreciated the staff's willingness to help, nonetheless.

Just had our wedding there. The food was so good we came twice the following weekend. :) Beautiful catering, impeccable service, amazing food, super-friendly people. You can't beat it in DC for price vs quality.

Stopped in for dinner with some friends. Lots of variety on the menu. The seafood stands out. Cocktails are interesting. Service good. Have a post dinner treat by going upstairs to view the interesting artwork!

Do not stay at the hotel. The bar is fine and the restaurant is good, but the hotel is terrible. We arrived only to find there was no TV in the room, the wifi wouldn't connect and that was just the beginning. The lady let us down a small hallway, to what seemed a room under the stairs.

When we got to our room, it looked like a garage sale gone wrong. I'm six foot tall and my head hit the head board and my feet hit the footboard. There were only two pillows, both of which were not full enough to even prop my head up with. The rugs probably haven't been cleaned in 30 years, there's no adjustable heat in the rooms, the bed was hard, our room was right by the street and under the stairs.

Every time someone above us moved, we heard it. There was loud partying on the street from 12:00-3:00 in the morning and someone tried to get into our room twice while we were watching a movie on my laptop (good thing I had locked the door).

Amazing experience! It s like going back in time. My husband and I came here for our Anniversary weekend and we felt so welcomed and celebrated. Each staff member knew it was our Anniversary and congratulated us and were so nice. The room was beautiful and inviting. We walked in and had a bottle of champagne waiting for us, which was so thoughtful. We spent the entire weekend at this hotel! We had no reason to leave! We enjoyed the lounge and bar area. Also had Sunday brunch at the restaurant. Spent quality time with each other in our beautiful antique room. Very much loved this experience and can not wait to come back. I think my husband and I will make this hotel our go to spot for weekend getaways.

To each and every staff member, thank you for making our anniversary weekend so special and stress free! Literally the nicest and kindest people manage this hotel.

Have been here a couple of times for brunch. Very nice - quite classy, the sort of place you might bring your parents. Food is great - all the usual tradition brunch favorites such as eggs Benedict. A few nice brunch cocktails though all a little on the acidic side.

I haven t quite made up my mind on how I feel about this place. In terms of the hotel itself, it s cool if you like historical vibes, but my guess is if you come to DC, you would anticipate something more modern or at least have a tv. But the premise of this hotel is not that. They purposely have no tvs or elevators & have kept the antiquity of the 1920s which I can respect. I stayed here with a friend during the pandemic not knowing what to really expect. Would I stay here again? probably not. But I got some really dope pictures. Also worth mentioning, the restaurant on the first level was amazing! this is probably the draw for most people.

The Tabard Inn had a sentimental historical DC feeling which we loved. Our room was spacious and great, we enjoyed our stay and look forward to another night at the Tabard when we visit DC again, thank you!
