Great place. Cozy little getaway inn. It was perfect.
The bar and lounge are always an enjoyable experience, especially with the fireplace going in winter.
Cozy atmosphere with wonderful food and customer focused staff. Cocktails are delicious. The oysters on the half shell had a mild cilantro based salsa. Fantastic!
The Tabard Inn offers a cozy brunch experience with delicious menu items that are fresh and hearty. The selection is simple with tried and true ingredients that pair well. There is no over-engineering by the chef, and I quite like that in a era of try-hard brunch options around DC.
Excellent food, friendly waitstaff and a charming space
It had a nice true vintage feel with period furniture & fittings but without modern updates which sucks in the bathrooms, etc.. No central air.
Lovely intimate atmosphere, excellent cuisine and great service.
Lovely, eclectic hotel. Staying here was so much more fun than a standard chain hotel. Staff were very warm and welcoming. With the $15 restaurant voucher and free local gym pass this was great value as well.
Great ambiance. Decent food. The service was a little slow, but we weren't in a rush.
Not a bad place. Feels more like home than a hotel.
Food and stay was amazing. Definitely a must go, if you are nearby.
I came here because there was a lot of great reviews online about their breakfast. But I was only able to make it for dinner, which was really disappointing. Not a big menu selection and the food was not American as the Yelp reviews categorized it as.
Lovely atmosphere. Quaint as one might expect a Victorian building to be but also odd in its collection of art. I had a burger with a salad and it was pretty yummy. They didn't have fries as they don't serve them but my meal was good. The ambiance is great though. We didn't get a chance to eat on the patio because we didn't have a reservation- apparently it gets filled up quickly especially when the weather is nice. The patio is outdoors but is somewhat shaded as it's behind the buildings.
We went on Sunday for brunch, which really wasn't your typical brunch. The menu is limited and the food was just okay. The speciality of the Inn are the homemade donuts with fresh icing everyone at the table enjoyed the donuts. I had the scrambled eggs menu item that the server recommended, the dish was a tad bland. Overall for the price I was extremely disappointed.
I love the Tabard Inn. It s such a fun quirky place that is a DC landmark of sorts. It s the oldest hotel in the city. I ve never stayed here but I have eaten at the restaurant as that is what this review is for. The service is phenomenal and the food was really good. Try the shrimp tacos, I really enjoyed them. Great place to escape from the drudgery of work and dc in general.
way different than any standard us hotel. It was truly an experience just in itself.
Eating at the Tabard Inn restaurant was fantastic! The environment was cute and quaint but was intriguing to the eye. The more I looked around the more curious I became. Our server, Mike M., was hilarious!! And the food was fantastic! I had the quiche of the day while my husband got the chicken waffles, both were delicious.
We will definitely be returning! It would be interesting to check out for drinks as well, or grabbing a book and sitting in the lounge area sipping on a drink like a guy was doing on the way out.
Very cool experience. You just go here with am open mind, and not expect the normal
Special, very different from typical chains. Vintage furniture. Nice experience. Recommend for those, who appreciate truly old and don't mind that it is worn out.
Absolutely charming! Truly the best secret on DC. Like a step back in time. Every single room is unique and the restaurant is fantastic!
Cozy, quiet bar with a fire place. Live music some nights.
A fun funky place to enjoy cocktails or dinner.. live music too! The food is creative and delicious. The lounge is charming especially on a cold night in winter when the fireplace is glowing! One of my favorite places!
Great date night spot, always excellent food and drinks, very cozy spot
Pork chops are amazing the trout was also amazing, this place is a hidden gem !
It's an antique, boutique hotel, but getting a little frazzled. Great service, great location, nice staff.
Very unique and different. I really enjoyed my stay. The room was pretty small with no TV but I was completely ok with that because I had great company. Having 1 bathroom between two rooms was unexpected as well but wasnt an issue since the room next door wasnt occupied.
Unique, warm, charming, gracious staff, great food, and absolutely consistent over many years.
Recently had a wonderful stay at The Tabard Inn. The Inn is so charming with quaint rooms and a really cool lounge with a fireplace. It has a very homey feel which I absolutely love. Staff was super friendly and the restaurant was outstanding. Everything we ate for dinner was superb. Breakfast as well. Best scones I've ever had. Inn was within walking distance to all the sights. Fantastic stay overall!
Warm cozy atmosphere with a wonderful food menu and service. Great blast from the past atmosphere, and true to DCs old heritage
Great atmosphere. Historical charm. Excellent food and service.
Great location. Furniture old but room extremely clean. Staff very professional, competent, and polite.
I had a wonderful time at this hidden gem. I attended a Bridal Brunch and everything was wonderful.
The food is always excellent and their drunk creations phenomenal. Would have been 5 stars but the service was a little slow. Check out the lounge area!
Historical place. Very nice decor. Good food and service. As with many DC locations, not a lot of room
Quite expensive but then again it's in a "nice part" of DC. The food is pretty good but not excellent. The atmosphere is rather neat and cozy. If you have any more than two in your party make sure to have a reservation.
Went for brunch on a Sunday morning. I was seated at my reservation time. I ordered the crab cakes benedict which was delicious. Brunch included a little basket of pastries which was a nice touch. Service was good and we weren't rushed through our meal. The decor was kind of dated, but the dining room was still very quaint.
Excellent food and service. Location is in a quaint, boutique hotel that is in a quiet section of the city. I had osso buco that was tender and juicy. My dining partner had scallops that we're delicious. A great dining experience.
Building from the 1920's... very cool to sit in and listen to jazz... the warm drinks are very nice too
This was a great spot to take my boss, we work in the area and this is a great DC spot.
How do I begin to describe my experience at Tabard Inn and the Crispy Chicken Adobo Bennie? How do you thank something that takes you from crayons to perfume?
When I was a kid, I would get these head aches, and I went to the doctor and they said that I needed glasses. I didn't understand that - it didn't make sense to me because I could see fine. And then I get the glasses, and I put them on, and I'm on the car on the way home and suddenly I yell ... because the big green blobs I had been staring at my whole life, they weren't big green blobs -- they were leaves ... on trees. I could see the leaves. And I didn't even know that I was missing the leaves -- I didn't even know that leaves existed! And then ... leaves! The Crispy Chicken Adobo Bennie is glasses!
Seriously, I cannot recommend The Tabard Inn enough! Their menu changes often and everything is always so delicious. If you do brunch, get the donuts! The ambiance is so charming and the staff is fantastic!
This is my absolute favorite restaurant in DC. The food is really delicious and always unique - I have never had a meal, appetizer or dessert that wasn't awesome. The service is terrific. The atmosphere is charming, beautiful, cozy, romantic and old fashioned cool. I have arranged Christmas parties for 2 companies in the private rooms upstairs and both were fantastic. If you can only go to one restaurant in DC, this is it!
Great atmosphere, great service though the meal I ordered was very small. I love the decor!! Meal was very tasty but small.
Delicious variety of food, cozy indoor seating and quaint outdoor patio.
If you have the option of sitting on the patio do so. The food was amazing. The only disappointment was the valet parking. Guests of the restaurant should not have to pay. The only downside.
Have been here numerous times. Great Sunday Breakfast. Always friendly. Seating outside is wonderful and relaxing. Group of 4-6 with each visit.
Food was delicious! I really enjoyed the chicken & waffle but next time I will ask for the sauce on the side. Service was great.
Super cute inn with very vintage themed rooms. But the stairs are super creaky and the walls are really thin.
Unique space and great for families. Food is okay but there is a variety of things to choose from.
Food was delicious. Excellent ambience and setting on the patio!
Excellent fresh and made to order food, charming atmosphere
Beautifully maintained old house with a great outdoor patio.
One of the most charming and unique places in DC. Have drinks by the fireplace before or after dinner, and make sure you try one of their cocktails. The trout and vegetables are excellent.
A unique, fun place to grab a drink. Lots of character and history. Comfy sofas, a fireplace, good service. What more do you want?
Good food, excellent service, and an interesting and unique setting. A great place for lunch whether you're in a hurry or have time to relax and enjoy your meal with friends.
Eh. Nothing great. Drinks are poor and over priced. The garnishes were dried out from sitting on the counter for so long, unrefrigerated. Pretty gross.
Excellent little inn. The only negative, and its not a negative at all really because of the really low price for the great location, is the small room size. I prefer to think of it as cozy, however, and chances are you arent spwnding much time here because of the great location.
The tavern itaelf is really old fashioned and rustic feeling, but quite clean with friendly service. The rooms are also clean and witb functional air conditioning. The national mall is accessible by a quick 10m Lyft.
Oh we got vouchers that made our breakfast almost free too!
This would be my preferred location to stay anytime i visit the city.
Perfect Saturday morning place that can turn into Saturday afternoon
Shrimp and grits are amazing. The Tasso ham sets off the dish.
Went here for breakfast. I have to say it is quite good. I had the hillbilly grits and was we quite happy. Tried their donuts cause everyone recommends it and it was worth it. (Think cider donuts)
The patio area really impressed me in and it's what bummed this to a 5 star review. If open go for it.
Although pricey for me, myself and a companion went to have brunch there and the atmosphere was amazing. The tea was delightful and refreshing and the complimentary breads were fresh and delicious. I'd give it a 5 stars on my experience even having spent only 20 mins there for tea.
No place quite like it in Washington. Go on a night with live jazz, enjoy a drink or two and the roasted nuts.
This place is great with its quirky decor, asymmetric rooms and access. Great atmosphere and service and of course the food and wine is delicious. Recommended.
Loved the bar area here: unique craft cocktails and a cozy library atmosphere complete with leather chairs and couches. I had a beet-flavored cocktail, and it blew my mind. Service was fast and friendly (and patient with my group), and it was never too loud to hear one another. All in all, a very appealing place. I'll definitely be back.
This bar is a true delight and a rare find. Old country feel to the bar and the staff makes you feel like a regular on your first visit. All of that aside, the cocktails are inspired and delicious. And they have a great happy hour! Highly recommend.
Excellent location for a wedding reception. The service was professional and friendly, and the building set the mood for the families getting to know each other.
I have to give the Tabard Inn just a 3 Star rating. The impression from the room at the front is totally different from the room where we had our meal. The front is like a cozy pub, the back a very noisy crowded room. The price was reasonable. The food tasted good. However the night we went (Saturday night) the noise level in the back dining room was buried in the red zone of 87 - 93 db the entire time we were there. It was practically impossible to carry on a conversation. Service was only average. We had to keep asking for refills on water (the room was very warm.) It seemed that the wait staff was not very attentive.
I used to love bringing visiting colleagues to the Tabard Inn. It's a beautiful space, and they used to have quite a few vegan options. But last time I was there, they had less vegan options, and they included bell peppers in my food after I told them I was allergic. They didn't even apologize and treated me awkwardly about it. Not going back again.
Charming. Great service. Good wine and wonderful brunch.
Tabard Inn is a really unique place. Interesting artwork through out a resident doggy and great food are all reasons to love this place. We have stayed here twice so far and will be back for sure.
Great atmosphere. Old place with its history. Good food. Bar with fireplace and live cool jazz. Don't forget to book in advance.
Super quaint and unique. Convenient location and totally reasonable prices. Gorgeous room and really comfortable bed. Sharing a bathroom is the only real inconvenience. Everything else is great.
Great little inn along with a tasty/cozy restaurant. Outdoor courtyard is a nice addition for drinks. Private, unique, right in DuPont
Friendly staff, cozy atmosphere. Great living room. Always decent food.
