Expensive but nice. Room top is small so get there early. The specials aren't really great deals. Food was tasty. Saturday afternoon can get super packed especially when people can't get into a beer garden on the same block.

A high end experience for dinner or drinks. The decor in the dining room is ritzy and glamorous. The rooftop gets a little cramped but the seating, exceptional service and incredible views make it more than worthwhile.

You know you are getting something different from the time you arrive at the front desk. The architecture is very modern and clean and cool restaurants and shopping are everywhere. My room with a view on the eighth floor was beautiful. But this is where the satisfaction ends.
I have stayed at this hotel twice and my most recent stay was disappointing.
There is a dance club Le Bain that kept me up from 11PM to 3AM (open till 4am) on a Wednesday night. If you want to get a decent night of sleep, get a room as close to the bottom floor as you can. Ear plugs are provided as well in the room. For $300 per night on a weekday, guests should get quiet.
My shower was open and while that is not usually an issue, it did not drain in there as water collected in the entire stretch of the small bathroom. This meant that I either got ready standing in water or use five towels to soak up all of the water.

The hotel relentlessly pursues quirkiness, sometimes at the expense of common sense and practicality. For example, the elevators are darkened to highlight a bizarre dream-sequence video (accompanied by eerie music) that plays on TV monitors on the elevators. Fun, but it would be nice to have enough light to find the button for my floor. The ~20-inch step down from the shower to the floor struck me as both a safety hazard and an accessibility limitation. The glass wall between the shower and the bedroom area was fine for a guest staying alone (you can watch TV while you shower), but would be a nuisance for a couple if one person wanted to sleep (in the dark) while the other person showers (in the light). That said, the room was clean, spacious by Manhattan standards, and comfortable. The rainforest shower was amazing. (One worries when seeing that one of the amenities the hotel has left for you is a pair of earplugs, but I never found them even remotely necessary.)

We went and had lunch at the Standard yesterday as it was my last day in New York. We had the best service downstairs. Fabulous food and friendly staff. We were told the rooftop bar would open at 2. When we went in we asked for directions and a staff member told us that we could go to level 17 and take the stairs. We headed off to do this and my Mum and Auntie went to the toilets at the bottom of the stairs as me and my other Auntie went to get seats. It was 2:10 by this stage. There were also some other guests following behind us, as soon as we reached the top a middle aged bald man approached us with a headset on and asked what we were doing there, which I thought was obvious. He told us they are not open yet and we are not meant to be there, go back down, he was one of the most arrogant people I have ever met in my life and he proceeded to heard us downstairs to show us towards the actual entrance. He was that rude we told him not to bother and waited at the stairs for the ladies in the toilet, when he realised we were not following him he got even ruder, which I didn't think was possible. "What are you doing?!" He pretty much yelled and I answered people were in the bathroom. "No one is meant to be in there!" He went on. I pointed out there are no signs ANYWHERE saying that and I went in the bathroom to let the ladies know to hurry and like a creep he waited right at the door. When he felt they were taking too long, he walked into the women's bathroom!! They were washing their hands and he came in, aggressively reminding us we can't be there. We were shocked that someone with this attitude could have a job and when we asked his name, he repeated 'guest services', clearly knowing he was doing the wrong thing. If he didn't, why would he not give us his name. We had another group of people waiting downstairs and there would've been ten of us all together. This man left the worst taste in our mouths and there was no way we were giving to spend money at an establishment that hired staff that treated people this way. Absolutely disgusting. We went to the hotel to complain but were told they don't own it and gave us a card to contact someone. Which we will be doing, not that there is much point as I doubt anything would be done about it. There are plenty of of other rooftop bars in NYC to spend your money at.

It's hip! It has crazy videos in the elevators! I don't care about any of that. What I love was a gorgeous view with floor to ceiling windows and a comfy bed with a huge jet jacuzzi nearby.

The place is seriously amazing. Hotel rooms are perfect. The 'Boom Boom Room' is awesome for sunset drinks. Book ahead for a designated table. The bar and grill is ideal for breakfast. And then there is the rest of the meatpacking district to check out.

The Standard Highline is steps away from rich nightlife, a shoreline running path, lots of local food and drink and pretty much everything else you'd want from a stay in the Big Apple.
The service is outstanding and the staff is willing to accommodate your needs- even go so far as to offer a free room upgrade for me when the noise level was too high due to its proximity to the elevator.
I've stayed here 3x over the last couple of years and plan to return next time I am in the area.

It's not a 5 stars because the "free WiFi" is nonexistent. NONE. NEVER WORKED. That's hugely inconvenient. The fact that a sad little hotel in Stamford could offer me quality WiFi for free and The Standards sucked so bad pissed me off. I was counting on it like its not big deal. Well. At checkout I mentioned this again, you told me "you could have upgraded into the good quality WiFi" that's unacceptable, distasteful. You advertise Free WiFi. Adjust your communication or upgrade your service. The rest, AWESOME. The amenities are to die for. Location is glorious. You can walk everywhere. Delicious atmosphere. Improve your WiFi.

I wouldn't choose to stay here again. The proximity to the High Line and the Hudson riverfront path is awesome, and the Standard Grill is good. But you're mostly paying to stay at a currently chic place. The service is mediocre at best and they shut down 2 of the 4 elevators each night (for the attached nightclub), so wait times for an elevator up/down to your room can be up to 10 minutes.

Very neat hotel. Clean and quiet. The Standard Grill was my only complaint. Obviously we're in Manhattan and everything is insanely priced, fine, not a problem. However, the food was really only ok. The roast chicken was the dryest I've ever had. I should have said something, but was starving and trying to deal with a rambunctious toddler. Anyway,it might be good for breakfast, but go somewhere better for dinner. If you're going to drop a couple hundred $$ on dinner,.don't do it here!

Terrible service. We booked the hotel with the understanding we'd have a crib lined up. We checked in around 5pm, the front desk said the crib would be there. It wasn't. Called down at 6pm, they said it's on the way. 4 hours later it's "still on the way." Kinda of ruined our nice out.

If you are a light sleeper and you are traveling for business, stay away from this hotel.
Sound from the top floor, the ventilator (outside of the building), people walking in the corridor and vacuum cleaner at 2am(???). I couldn't get to sleep at all.
Also, there is only one pair of earplugs per room (which doesn't help at all), guess couples are not allowed here.

Went to the rooftop for drinks. Amazing view! A bit crowded but worth it. The drinks are pretty good - nothing crazy - but of course you re here for the view. You can also reserve tables in advance (....but this can also mean you and your party being moved because a table is reserved). Overall, a great rooftop for warm weather with friends!

I return to The Standard every couple of years because this is how long it takes to forget that it's actually bad bad bad. And then you get lured back in. It's massively overpriced for what it offers. The rooms are tiny even for NYC (and last time I stayed in their super deluxe king shoebox where you still couldn't have a shower without getting the carpet in the hallway all wet). The staff are handsome and courteous, but refuse to respond to my emails about incorrect charges on the folio. Some find The Standard's dark elevators all creepy too. I also can't help but notice the very cheap touches I wouldn't expect from a classy place: a big sticker on the umbrella reminding you not to steal it or you'll be charged $25, beer vouchers for their beer garden. I like hotels that can decide at which end of the spectrum they fall: you either quietly charge $25 for the wifi or you warn guests not to steal your $25 umbrellas.
Admittedly, the bathtubs are great and the location is excellent.

We had a fantastic new year's eve at the Standard.
Our room was at a mid-floor, so no noise from the disco up there and a beautiful view. I found a bit weird the choice to have a window in the shower, but this hotel is all about showing off (people on the high line waived at us more than once) so I guess it's to be expected.
Price was very steep and we got basically no service out of there, but everyone was friendly and the room was up to par (even for the faraonic price of new year's eve).

For the rate I paid, I was quite disappointed in the quality of my room. The room was quite weathered (not in a good way - the carpet was coming up in places and was threadbare) and it looked like the entire room as well as hallway could use a consistent coat of paint. I had heard good things about this hotel, but was not impressed.

We had the largest room offered. It was clean and spacious. The beds were comfy and views were fantastic. The rooftop bar ended up very lively on a Friday and we met and talked to other patrons. The Standard Grill restaurant was a favorite spot to jump in at the bar for food and drinks. Daniel and Aran took good care of us over the weekend. I enjoyed the location. There were a lot of places to eat and shop near by. I was happy with my stay and my first trip to NYC.
