We stayed at the Seelbach for a long weekend and we were very happy with the service. The staff was very accommodating and there was almost always someone welcoming us back into the hotel back holding the door or asking if they could help with bags. The rooms were a fair size (we had 4 people on two double beds and we never felt cramped - our friends were next door and at one point we had 8 people in the room playing games and it was still enough space in the double bed rooms). The hotel itself has an older feel, but it's more of a rustic 70s-80s style that is more alluring than a turn-off. We would recommend this for anyone traveling for business or pleasure. They also have an event space that was fairly large and could be used for wedding receptions or business gatherings. If you're downtown to visit distilleries or go to 4th Street Live, this is a fantastic option.

The hotel offers both public and valet parking at reasonable pricing considering the big city. The hotel has a bar, restaurant, and Starbucks attached to the lobby and is less than a 2 minute walk from 4th Street Live. If you're spending time around the city, this is a great location as it's walking or scooter distance to nearly everything within 5-10 minutes. There's also an abundance of other transportation options nearby.

Hotel is beautiful and rich in history. Staff was generally friendly. Room was clean, average size, furnishings were a little outdated. Biggest knock was the check-in experience. We arrived in Louisville early on Saturday and dropped our bags with the concierge as our room was not ready. Explored downtown for a while. Digital room key never showed up in my app, so we returned to the hotel at 4:30 (we had a 5:30 event a few blocks away and still needed to get ready) and were told that the room still wasn t ready. I had to ask if they could put us in another room, and we were given a room on the 10th floor, where the ballrooms are. 10th floor was very noisy due to a wedding reception and some loud conversations outside our room. Would have been a 4 or possibly 5 star review if check-in experience had been better.

Kamille greeted us with a smile and provided great customer service! She kept checking on us and was very helpful to us. The only issue we had was the housekeeping wasn't great. They didn't throw some trash we had away or remove our used towel from the shower. However, they did put in fresh towels and made the bed. I love the hotel environment hotel. Beautiful and clean hotel. Valet parking was a bit pricey.

This hotel is iconic. When you walk in you feel like you went back in time. The lobby is very ornemental and you can just tell they have kept it up very well over the years.
I was here for business and had the most pleasant experience with the sales and catering staff. The catered food was excellent both days.
The reason I gave it such a low rating was because of the shape of my sleeping room. I walked in and could just feel how long this room has been around and how often it is used. The blanket on my bed had dried up blood spots on it. There was pet hair on it, though the sheets seemed clean, the blanket had not been cleaned. There was a huge dead cockroach under the window and i'm no pest control expert but this thing looked like it had been there for a while. The desk looked like someone was mad one day and just started slicing it up with a pen. I did not feel comfortable at any point in my room and the hotel was sold out as they had a huge reunion that basically took over the property.
I would only go back if the guest rooms are ever renovated.

How can I start?..my experience in this hotel has been nothing but a great experience, I didn't know what to expect but Everyone who works at the Seelbach Hotel in downtown Louisville has been Superb, driven by High Standards and all that comes with..I had the great pleasure and honor to meet Larry Johnson(I saw his video about the Hotel's history every time I was in my room!) a legendary and super nice human being. Upon my arrival I met Naid, and Lyndsie, what a great and very professional and very dedicated individuals who made feel almost at home, also a big shout out to Kamille who took care of my reservation, very nice, very professional and respectful as well as everyone I came in contact to, from the people who clean the rooms, front desk, every one in the 7th floor(didn't get their names)as well as the ones who just simply or by standards open the doors for you at this magnificent hotel/house...Congrats to you all, Beautiful People!...it takes great training to get where you are and about what you do but to get your level of confidence, kindness, respect, loyalty, personality, and most of all Professionalism is Priceless...Thank You!

I WILL BE BACK! Have a great Holidays!!

Beautiful historic hotel! From walking in the front door you feel like the upper echalon of society and the front desk staff treat you as such. Ramon was top notch! If you enjoy historic hotels this one should be on your list. The breakfast buffet was delicious traditional American breakfast foods. Maybe a tad bit high on the price, but the quality of food was very good ($18, very good fresh fruit, thick bacon, sausage gravy and biscuits). The ornate trim and little reminders of how things used to be are quite interesting, i.e. the mail chutes next to the elevators...Not sure why anyone is mentioning "paper thin" walls, we heard no one over the course of 3 days. And the rooms are sized just fine. Don't hesitate to book a stay here especially if you enjoy historic hotels!

I love staying in the historic suites at the Seelbach, but most of the time I just drop in for the bar. The bar's signature drinks are a bit pricey, but taste great. There's always a huge Bourbon selection, and the bartenders are some of the most knowledgeable and capable in the city. Must visit the building, and particularly walk down to the brikskellar room in the basement if you're in town!

History oozes from the lobby to the grand staircase. Go have their signature cocktail in the bar and enjoy the beautiful architecture of this iconic hotel. The bar is part of the Urban bourbon trail and has an extensive collection of whiskeys to choose from. Highly recommended.

Tiny room. Beautiful woodwork in common areas. Parking garage would not accommodate regular pickup truck or SUV (6' 1" max). So had to pay extra to valet. Television signal was bad for 2019, snowy and freeze glitchy for regular cable.

One of the finest hotels in Louisville, the Seelbach is a tribute to Old Louisville luxury. The rooms are a bit small and the decor is traditional rather than modern but it is a lovely place to stay with a courteous, professional staff used to dealing with a discriminating clientele. The lobby and downstairs are stunningly beautiful. The restaurant features quality fine dining and a commiserate price tag.

Really neat historical hotel. Cool old preservered areas to see. Room was clean and pretty, front desk was very nice and helpful. Fitness center very well stocked, several different types of machines, as good as any monthly gym. Walking distance to 4th St. LIVE. The only complaint we had was the cleanliness of the dishes/silverware in the Gatsby restaurant.

Historic hotel in wonderful Louisville! The room needs a little updating, but clean, and the hotel more than makes up for it with the decor and charm. The concierge, Mr Johnson, is very informative and gives tours of the hotel. Very fascinating. Will definitely be returning.

I am a Hilton Honors member, but when I tried to book through HH there were no rooms available. I checked out Priceline and The Seelbach Hotel was available on their site, so I booked through Priceline. I tried several times to get HH to add my HH number to the reservation, but to no avail. HH did end up giving me some points for the reservation, but not until numerous calls and online chats. The problem was that I wasn t looking for the points, but what I like is the ability to check in and choose my room through their app. I also got charged almost 200 dollars more on my credit card and had to call the hotel to have the money credited back to my card (this was prior to arrival). Upon arrive the valet service was prompt. My wife and I checked in and the staff was friendly and even asked if I prefer a lower or higher level room. The staff put us in an upper room. The room was clean and nice, but extremely small. The bathroom actually only had a stand up shower in it because of the size of the room. I didn t mind the small room, but for the cost was expecting more. The old vintage vibe of the hotel was fascinating. The Old Seelbach Bar was a fun little vintage hotel bar that I suggest checking out. Check out went smoothly, but the valet service leaving was a different story. It was extremely busy and took a bit of time to get our car and leave. Overall The Seelbach was a clean charming old hotel, but I do not believe I would revisit the hotel again. I will be heading back to Louisville this fall and will try somewhere different.

It's haunted, so, naturally I have not actually stayed here. Sorry, not sorry!
I'd like to offer an edit:
The one star review is because I have seen a few rooms here before, some of which looked like closets. A lot of my out of town relatives and friends have stayed here and with a much more attractive hotel with much more intriguing amenities just across the street, this would definitely be a last choice among the Hiltons in the downtown area.

Wow. I mean wow. 5 stars alone on just the architecture and history. The lobby and Rathskellar are astounding. The staff is polite and professional. We experienced no customer service snafus during our two night stay.

This is an OLD hotel and even though the rooms are fairly updated there were quite a few eccentricities in the room: plugs not fitting securely in the wall being the most notable. The bathrooms are small if there are two of you trying to get ready at once.

The hotel is located across the street from Fourth Street Live so if that is your thing, then there is no better place to stay. The Louisville Palace is also a block away. If you are a bourbon aficionado, the Galt House is closer. Having said that it was still only a ten minute walk to Evan Williams through a safe part of downtown.

Not very clean. Has awesome history but in the end, I want somewhere clean. Went for supercon 2018. We switched rooms three times before ultimately deciding to drive back and forth to Lexington.

The have bed bugs. I recently stayed this past weekend. Me and my colleague witnessed this. They saw bugs and took pictures and I currently have 15 bites all over my body. They moved us to another room, but this isn t what I expected from a 5 star hotel. I had to clean everything to make sure I didn t bring any back because I sure didn t bring them with me. I won t ever be back.

The room reserved was very, very small. The hallways to rooms are very antique looking not a comfortable feeling. Lack of better statement very disappointed, I guess I expected more a modernized hotel.

A dreary, pokey room that was supposedly on the "executive" floor. The room and corridor decor were depressingly gloomy and windows were filthy. No armchair, no fridge, minimal amenities. Idiosyncratic coffee maker that barely functioned, TV with no power. Snack lounge that offered barely edible food. Unquestionably an historic and an architectural masterpiece but still a sadly fading hotel at 5+ star prices.

Great hotel but when I arrived, they ran out of rooms and placed me in a parlor room with roll-in beds, which weren't very comfortable. Said they would upgrade me to a suit the next day but I just got a regular room, I think and they ended up charging a regular rate for the first night, too.

Absolutely LOVED the lobby and the architecture of this building and it's history. There is a speakeasy in the basement w/a secret passage. If you ask, they may show you and tell you the history. There are also some cases with artifacts you can browse, down the steps around the corner from the main desk. The bar was quaint with quite a selection. Be prepared, the rooms are small, and have the 'older' charm. I Loved it, my husband was less of a fan. He travels a lot and is used to larger and more amenities. There is a breakfast buffet for an additional fee. The location was nice and convenient, as we walked to Fourth St for dinner and live music in the streets under the covered road.
