The San Luis Resort - Landry's Restaurants, Inc Review

Kay did an excellent 80 minute deep tissue massage. I use massage for pain management and to help slow down the degenerative process. Don't ever skip your skull, so much tension is released. Use the middle steam shower room it gets the most steam and you actually sweat. Clean and yummy nutrious snacks.

It was wonderful, I can't say enough great things about the staff, on how they went out there way to make us feel like we were royalty, the entire stay was top notch.

Pool bar was awesome They also have the best Stake on Galveston island

San Luis is a very clean and comfortable family resort with great staff and management. Entire family including kids (at 3, 6 and 9) had a great Xmas vacation in 2016. And not to forget to thank the most to Sara Godwin for personally mailing me a brand new MJ shades with an handwritten card on new year eve when she heard that mine got washed with the pool towels at the resort (an honest mistake)... The resorts has heated pool with fun slide for kids.There are plenty of restaurants around, fun pier and rainforest cafe are great attractions for kids... and don't forget to take a four-wheel bike ride along the beach...

We have been coming to the San Luis since our first year of marriage in 1993. It has always been great and continues to strive for greater excellence each year. Incredible in every way.

Very disappointed. Our room had broken fixtures, broken drain plug in the bath tub, 1 cup for coffee (there are 2 avid coffee drinkers), construction in a nearby room was extremely noisy, and the pool bar staff was slow. When I mentioned these issues at check-out I received 'Sorry' for a response. Totally unacceptable to pay as much as you do for such a poor experience.

In all actuality I didn't even check in to the hotel..smh I do plan on booking in the near future though. REASON for 5 Star Rating is because I just went for a quick visit to the beach with the family. Didn't really feel like the hassle of a finding a parking spot. Lucky enough the hotel staff valet the car so everything was smooth sailing. Thank you

Very good place to stay on a sunny day .It is In front of the beach.The restaurant has nice breakfast buffet.There were a couple fire ants in my room (I am allergic to their bites),this took one star off my rating.

Outside looking in the hotel looks good. The inside of hotel is great looking as well. Rooms are a little dated and feel old. I actually had a few fleas I noticed on my leg after they bit me. I valet parked my car. Not only paid the valet fee but gave the valet worker a heft tip to park my car in a certain spot next to a coworker where nobody could park beside us on either side. It's the only spot on the parking area like this. I come back to find my car moved in which I was not happy at all. I drive a high performance spots car in which leads me to believe valet was abusing my car. Very wrong. Spent most of time at pool and pool bar which was beautiful. All staff was very friendly except the valet kids.

Awesome, everything and everyone was flawless. Looking forward to returning soon.

Place is nice, a little pricey, but the service was great. Stayed on 3rd floor , did not like the view from it. If you want a good view request a higher floor. Will come back!

The hotel manager was so nice to us. Made our family stay enjoyable and memorable.

TLDR: For the price you pay, everything but the service is awful. We paid a premium to stay here for a few nights to relax by the pool after a long week of work. <br/>Our room: <br/>We got the ocean view in room 920. Upon walking in, a strong aroma of mildew and/or must smell filled the room. The sheets appear to be clean however both nights we got in them, the pillows as well as the sheets were damp. At night, there is a very high pitched howling noise that is obnoxiously loud. We turned on the TV and put it on loud and didn t really help, the building simply wasn t renovated correctly and there is not proper ventilation in the rooms. We went out to the tourist restaurants around here and there is no mini fridge or anything to store our leftovers or even drinks let alone any sort of kitchen accessories that are even included in 3 star hotels. Both our sinks were broken and the tiny excuse of a shower was clogged up upon arrival. The view was very pretty in our ocean view and that was the only upside to it. However, there was a very large cylindrical beam above the rails preventing view when sitting in the chairs. Once again, no big deal but it s the details that matter. <br/>Service: <br/>Our service from the time we arrived to the time we left was phenomenal. The staff was very kind and courteous and helped us with the few things we requested. No complaints whatsoever. <br/>In hotel restaurants: <br/>We did not get a chance to go to any of the hotel restaurants as they were all too busy to make room for us unless my wife and I want to sit at the bar. <br/>Amenities:<br/>This hotel looks very good from the outside and they do a good job with presentation in the front section as well as the lobby and surrounding areas. However, just about everywhere else was neglected. The pool area was borderline nasty. Granted it was around 90 degrees during our visit, the pool was consistently above 80 degrees, so we did not hang around for long. With the smell of urine in the air and a few dozen loud children jumping in and out of the murky off blue almost green pool you can guess my assumption. We all know it happens but it should be managed properly. <br/>Location: It truly is the perfect location for a ocean view stay! Very close to all the nice spots around and it s easy to navigate in and out of the hotel. <br/>I m very confused how this hotel has such high reviews, because we are very disappointed. My wife went here 5 years ago and said it was not like this, and other reviews I read said the same. We spent $791 for 2 nights here and I would rather stay at the Holliday Inn, at least they re consistent. I own and operate a business and I understand it is difficult to always hit the mark with every detail but the most crucial ones were not there. When you pay a premium to go to a resort and none of the amenities that you re going for are in order, it is a disappointment. We spent our time at the beach instead, surprisingly enough it seemed more clean in the ocean than in the pool at San Luis. We left our stay early.

I stayed here last June and the hotel staff stole expensive makeup and jewelry out of my room. I didn't notice until I unpacked at home. When I called, the hotel was like eh, why didn't you tell us when you were here. Really? I didn't know until I unpacked! It was very upsetting and they could have cared less. On reading other reviews this hotel has a problem with THEFT!! If you stay here do not open for cleaning services. Not only that, the service in both restaurants was horrible. Slow as molassas. The same in our meeting room could not even get a tray of coffee and muffins going when we had it all reserved. It took 45min for them to set up our meeting breakfast. It's was ridiculous how bad the staff was my entire stay. Checking in the staff was not friendly or gracious. Won't be back there's got to be better options

Amazing staff, awesome views, and a beautiful honeymoon here at San Luis. I cannot recommend this resort hotel more. I can't wait to stay in the condos next time.

Live in Houston, this was a fun little get away. Awesome heated pool, kept you warm in Galveston cooler December nights. The Steakhouse was decent. Good food, nothing that was over the top great. Lobster was not great. Great hotel though. Will return.

Staff was fantastic, room well appointed and clean. The negative was that there are so many cabanas on the ocean side of the pool that it blocks the view of the ocean, so you don't get that "island feel" while at the pool like I had hoped for. In addition there is very limited seating on the front row of the pool to be able to watch your children swim without paying for a reserved spot. There are a ton of areas that are marked reserved, yet not one was using them. All of the non-paying guests had to sit rows back or on the rock ledge to watch their kiddos. This is a family style resort, I wish the pool were a little more family friendly.

One of the best places to stay at on galveston, lots of fun for you and your kids, across the street from the beach, beautiful hotel and pool area, just dont smoke on the balconey, they will fine you! Its a none smoking hotel, they do have a smoking area out side down stairs in the back of the building ugh, I dont think they like smokers, but that being said, I would still go back there again if im in galveston, I just wont smoke on there balconey,

Great atmosphere a fun place to hang out and people watch and relax..adult pool section can get kinda tight ..my only negative comment is that they should have a hot tube section with NO Kids adult only so you can relax in the hot tub without kids with floaties jumping on you head

My husband and I love this hotel! We've been here a couple of times. It's amazing. We love the pool and everything's so elegant. I forgot my phone in pool area and employee gave to front desk, that was so nice. My only complaint would be the front desk, they can be better.

We have stayed here EVERY year for 3 years with my daughters their father and half brother. Since their father's passing I wanted to continue to bring the children here for their Spring break. Today I had to make a change to the reservation, unable to arrive Friday, we needed to check in Saturday. The supervisor literally says "We can hold the room and charge you for Friday, then you can arrive Saturday." I am beside myself, to pay for a night we are not even there? This is very saddening for me and am unsure we will ever be back.

This place was so awesome and my wife was just beyond words. This will be a definite stay each time we go to . Galveston. Loved everything thr on the grounds and set up. Rooms were so comfortable and everything was romantic.
