The Pittman Ritz_Carlton Hotel is a very good luck and peace full palace in China.
I stay for six days in this hotel.
The hospitality is so good....
I like their hospitality....

Lobby bar substandard. Very disappointed. Not clean and poorly managed. Needs proper management oversight.

Nice rooms, breakfast area not in line with the rest

Because the restaurant on the ground floor can be bought in groups, it doesn't feel very high-end.

Portman has been always solid mountain in hotel business. Reliable.

Totally worth it for my business trip..
And this is at the place where most of the company are there..

There are many Japanese groups, and the breakfast hall is waiting for you. wifi late, not usable with line and gmail.

Very nice inside with lots of options right out the front door. Main bar is fantastic albeit a bit pricey - it is the Ritz tho.

Lovely lively hotel with excellent service in a prime spot.

Surprisingly mediocre. The bed was good, but the wallpaper was starting to peel, the desk chair uncomfortable because the wooden sides are higher than the cushion although I am larger than most, the shower was surprisingly small so that I had trouble not bumping into the cold glass and the water not hot enough at max. At least my next stay had hot water.

Be sure to specify one of their sedans if you get a car to the airport. They put me in a large Mercedes van last time with small plastic seats and insufficient AC. It is expensive, but I think worth it in the right vehicle.

The breakfast buffet was my biggest issue: - Had limited variety and things that should be hot tended to be cold (bacon, eggs, hash browns), so if you're getting it, order eggs done fresh and keep in mind it is very expensive. Coffee is awful. Save yourself money and get good food and coffee at the Bakery & Spice to the left out the front door.

This was my first overseas trip on business. This was the best experience I ever had, and mainly it is thanks to this hotel and its staff. I was on the 27th floor (nonsmoking) and everyone there was very polite to me. I recommend to go to the Ritz Bar between Sunday and Thursday and ask for Christian - he is very nice, very bilingual, very western, and will recommend you places that you might like to try. He's off on Friday and Saturday. The Double-Decker burger is a great meal to purchase from there. The rooms are spacious. If you can afford it, come stay here!

The room is really nice and clean. All staff is very helpful.

The supermarket in the basement immediately after the entrance exit is very convenient.

Calm hotel. There is a bathtub, a supermarket in the basement, and a convenience store nearby.

Very conveniently located. Close to many shoppong malls, restaurants and especially to Jiangan Temple. Rooms aren't as nice as I expected but ok.

A very good hotel located on Nanjing West Road. Breakfast is also delicious, and there is also a theater where you can enjoy it from morning to night.

A fantastic hotel. The staff is friendly and helpful and they go the extra mile to make you feel comfortable. I have stayed here a couple of times and recommend it.

I like this old Portman. His service is much more sincere and caring than other hotels. This feeling, people who have lived should know it.

Breakfast is great. The hotel is very nice, lots of resto around the place but if you're looking for local cuisine and cheaper price and local taste, then you need to find at least 1.5 miles radius.

Very nice, as one would expect. Definitely a little bit older than some other upscale hotels in China and the breakfast was also not as spectacular as others at this price point. Service is great and the location is also good. The decor is a little bit dated. There's certainly nothing to complain about, but for the price point you might be able to find better. That said, I haven't stayed at other places like this in Shanghai, only in other cities so the standard and price level here might be different.

For a luxury hotel, these people seem to lack a basic understanding of customer service. The staff were dismissive and completely unaccommodating to our situation. I would give 0 stars if it were an option

only for the very affluent people... fun to see and then again... so much money went into this place and its not that amazing really

One of the nicer hotels I have experienced. Staff goes above and beyond, and hotel amenities are superb.

The gentleman assisting with cabs desperately needs to be replaced. Firstly, I'm surprised there aren't a line of cabs waiting, as I've seen across many other Ritz Carltons. Given they've got rid of Uber, it should be priority and shouldn't take more than 5mins max for a cab. This really ought to be addressed. We waited more than half hour for one.. And on another occasion changed our plans. Many people around also left the queue.
Secondly the gentleman helping didn't really seem to care. He'd walk away at times, was on the phone. He represents Ritz Carlton and is definitely not in keeping with the rest of the staff here who are actually very kind and helpful. Most definitely won't be back, and won't be recommending this hotel.

Loved my stay. I was treated very special from the moment I checked in until I checked out. The hotel staff is friendly and courteous, constantly leaving me presents and sight seeing suggestions. The hotel is luxurious and the city is safe and clean. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Service was very good ~ It was impression that we take care of this thing and anniversary carefully. Breakfast is also delicious. I have a Nespresso machine and coffee is out.

Really nice hotel in the middle of Shanghai; nice and clean rooms, excellent service, friendly staff.
Notes for visitors: Taxi travel time to Pudong airport minimum 45 Minutes in case of low traffic , better to consider at least 60-70 minutes to be on the safe side. Taxi may cost between CNY 180 (day) and 300 (night)

Portman Ritz Carlton sits in an upscale Nanjing Road location with many dining and shopping options in walking distance.

If you travel by metro from PVG or SHA this hotel is between Nanjing Road West and Jing'an Temple metro stops, so you can get off any stop and either take a taxi or just walk with light luggage. Hotel check-in is inconveniently located at the very end of the hotel. I have stayed at a few Ritz Carlton locations worldwide and would rate this one as an average one, it looks like the hotel is lost in the middle of shops, doesn't have its own character. Rooms are ok and need upgrade, lobby is small and shared with multiple high end shops.
Breakfast options are good and staff is very helpful specially Bob in the breakfast area who got me a special vegetarian option as soon as he realized I was a vegetarian.
Overall, stay at this hotel for good location and not for the brand. This is not a Ritz. Attaching a few images, please check out.

The place looks very nice and it felt like it was really made for rich people. My friends and I watched an acrobatic show in it's theater area. The show was very good and it was a nice experience during my 2 day trip to Shanghai.

There is a glaring feeling.

There is also a JBL audio clock in the room that can be connected to Bluetooth to listen to music.

First of all I have to say this is my second choice after the Ritz Pudong, but it s very nice and in a much better location for food and transportation. For me the top features of this hotel are the usual Ritz features (small, very nice, kind staff) and the access to amazing food and activities. It s very centrally located, in walking proximity to almost anything you could want. The rooms are not modern or large, but are luxurious for sure. If you re SPG/Marriott this is the best location, with St Regis being next (but St Regis is too big for me).

The experience wasn't quite what I expected out of a Ritz. The service was below par. The advantage is just that it's located near a good shopping area

The rooms are extremely old and worn down, a best western or courtyard would be better than this. Dont stay here! You can get a much better room in another hotel for the same or less money.

It was the Ritz, how could it not be the best service? Let me start with why this is only 4 stars. This building is really showing its age. From the experience of the nonsealing window last year to the cabinets that the hinges are falling off. It doesn't take long for things to become decrepit in China.

Things that were amazing? The interior of the lobby. The interior of the rooms. The level of service by the staff. The complimentary breakfast we had for being club level the 43rd floor. The evening drinks and snacks. The amazing english breakfast and english tea in the morning. I would go back in a heartbeat, but probably will not get a chance in the near future. They just need to fix that filtration thing.

I often came to Shanghai for a few years, and I have always stayed at this hotel. At that time, the room layout was very stylish and the service was comfortable. Because I lived above the 27th floor, the room was always sunny, but do n t be fooled by the sun. Taking a coat to go out did not expect the temperature below 2 degrees ... I can't judge, although the elevator is fast, I can't bother to return to the room. Just looking at the current price seems to be more favorable than my stay ...

During the last 5 years I used to stay here more than 10 times. Quality of everything is just perfect.
