What a great place to stay, staff was nice. Good bang for your buck.

Nice hotel, convenient to everything. Staff is great

Basic, but very clean. I was expecting something a little more upscale, so I was a little disappointed that it was so average. Service was real good, employees were really nice, but it just felt like a Holiday inn.

So, okay hotel. Clean. Not worth the room rate. They made us have a refrigerator in the room, charged us $15 for it. It was dorm room size. Looked like they got it from a dorm room. It was pretty beat up. Not what I would expect of a city hotel. Also the restaurant in the hotel, not worth it. So many places within a short walk.

A bit-nicer-than-basic chain hotel in a fantastic location. If you have kids, stay here instead of the nicer custom places nearby, because these don't have A HEATED POOL! Why didn't they build a hot tub too...?

Very nice hotel on the wharf. The swimming pool is a perfect temperature to relax!

Beautiful hotel would stay again, only down side noticed was any door shutting from other rooms near could be heard and doors shut loud. Otherwise, beautiful place.

This would've been a 3 or 4 star rating if not for the way we were swindled for an extra $1050 with no explanation.

Here we go...

The pros: The hotel is within walking distance of everything, the front desk staff was excellent and helpful, and I found the rooms clean. My daughter loved the pool, and I was very comfortable here. Overall, pleasant experience.

The cons: There is no refrigerator in the rooms, nor any drink vending machines in the building, which isn't a huge problem but I would think these perks are easy enough to install and really worth it.

Also, housekeeping never serviced our room until 3:30 - 4 in the afternoon. I've stayed in dozens of hotels, and I'm from Vegas, a city whose level of service is its bread and butter, and I've never had my room cleaned so late in the day. I leave by 9 am and stay gone most of the day to allow them to do their thing. I like coming back to a tidied room, made bed, and fresh towels later in the afternoon, so I can relax, clean up, and shower before dinner without worrying about housekeeping walking in on me. I think that's understandable. Now, again, not a huge problem. Just a slight aggravation.

The biggest problem came after we left and found an extra $1050 charge on our credit card. My 9 year old bought a quill and ink souvenir in Salem, and unfortunately dropped some drops on the chair. It's ink. I understand it might be permanent and fully expected a cleaning fee. Instead, our card was charged over a thousand dollars with no itemized receipt for how they came up with that amount. We called, we left messages for the manager, and we emailed...no one will call us back or provide the itemized receipt, which begs the question...Why can't they prove what they charged me for?

Looking at the other reviews, this seems like common practice for this hotel. To make bogus charges on customer's credit cards.

It's a shame, too. Great location, and I loved the women at the front desk. I can't risk another grand, though. We'll try The Hawthorne next time.

Welcoming and cozy lobby. Great location near Pickering Wharf and walking distance to downtown Salem.

Close walk to everything you want to do, decent rooms

Torn chairs in the room. Stained chairs. Dreary drapes. Frayed and ripped carpets. No refrigerators. No USB ports. Musty.
Pictures on their website are incredibly deceiving.
The worst part is they re putting a whole new addition on the hotel before they fix these really horrible rooms that they already have.
And they charge $300 per night.
Brand new hotel two blocks down. Go there.

Very nice hotel right on the waterfront. We stayed over the 4th of July holiday. Nice clean room. No view of the waterfront for us, but it was still a nice room. One minor criticism is the lack of accessible outlets for charging phones etc. Nothing on the desk at all. The restaurant on site, The Regatta, was decent for lunch, though nothing special. The hotel is in a central location to a lot of attractions. We would definitely stay here if in Salem again.

Historic location, excellent staff, walking distance to all attractions.

I like the hotel and the personal who is very friendly. The rooms are big and very comfortable. Great location, near of everything in the downtown of Salem.

The family that owns it is like Me. Potter from It's A Wonderful life.

- Wonderful interiors referring to Regatta
- Spacious room
- Wonderful bath products (the smell is adorable!)
- Nice indoor swimming pool

I think they were great. They even gave me a parking pass.

Hotel location, free parking, cleanliness and condition, all right. But I expect too. BUT!!!!! No safe in the room, no fridge, no door at the closet so smile when entering the room, iron and ironing board. For the ice cube box, the same plastic bags are used as for the trash can, bare concrete ceiling with expansion joints and a simple coat of paint, finally a very bad conditioner. This can only be loud on set even louder and is so impossible installed that you are in the middle of the train. The system seems to have installed the cooling compressor directly. With such a system my clients would run amok in the office area. The rooms are but living and sleeping area. Could not sleep all night and now sit in front of the hotel at 5am and write this review and enjoy the peace and quiet here in Salem. The $ 300 floral arrangement and the nice atmosphere in the foyer will not tear you out any more. After all, I live in the overpriced room and not in the foyer. I have stayed in better motels. For this price a joke.

Wish room had a frig otherwise it was a great place to stay

Hotel staff was awesome and the atmosphere was very relaxed and inviting. Room was clean and felt like home away from home.

I only stayed one night. Everyone I spoke to was very friendly. My room was very clean and comfortable. Bedding was above average and very very comfy. Location cannot be beat.

Rating is just because we made the mistake of stopping at the restaurant. Don't. 1st, they couldn't figure out how to put 2 tables together for a party of 6, when there was only 1other party even in the restaurant. A special was chili in a breadbowl that 3 of us ordered. 5 minutes later...Oops sorry...no breadbowls. No cream for coffee, only milk. Nachos were burnt. Bread slices that eventually came with the chili tasted like stale oil. Over all, a bad choice.

470 dollars for one room with a king bed and two chairs a small tv, supposedly waterfront. It was a dock with a bunch of boats that sound their horns at 4 in the morning. Literally the only good thing about this hotel is the location.

The location of this hotel was fantastic for our Salem trip. We were able to walk to so many museums. As for the hotel room... It was clean and spacious. Unfortunately, the bed was very uncomfortable- very firm. We tossed and turned the beginning of our stay, and then I think we were so exhausted we just passed out the last night of our stay. The customer service was fantastic- they obviously could not do anything about the beds, so we did not say anything until we left. The restaurant was awesome. We ate breakfast there every morning (Eggs Benedict- wow!). We had the same friendly waitress and she gave us suggestions of places to visit- great recommendations! Overall, we were tired, but there was no way we could be grumpy with such friendly people surrounding us.

Beautiful hotel, has alittle bit older appliances but still nice and clean.

Great stay! Loved the little restaurant on the premises. Great food, drinks, and service! The room was very nice. The check in and check out was easy. I visited here on New Year's Eve. I can only imagine how nice it must be here in the summer. Very nice place! I'd definitely return!

Despite a confirmed reservation, no room available, after a long back and forth we were offered another room a few miles away.

I absolutely loved my stay here! Highly recommend to anyone coming in town for tourism or maritime activities! It's close to the waterfront (obviously, the name) and the Pickering Wharf, which has tons of shops and restaurants! Hotel room was clean and spacious, and staff was welcoming and knowledgable about the surrounding areas!! Will stay here again!

Hotel was ok. Its all about location. Its one of very few hotels in the heart of the city. Little out dated, beds were comfortable, pool was warm and nice. Restaurant service was slow, food was ok, not too great, but being able to order room service and get it delivered to the room was quicker than going downstairs to be seated. Staff was friendly. Would stay here again but might try some of the other hotels first.

Hotel is great and in a perfect location to walk around Salem. Food in the pub was great, but the service for dinner and the next mornings breakfast was slow & inconsistent. Would recommend and definitely stay there again.

Completely enjoyable experience. The staff is friendly and attentive. We enjoyed the hotel and it's amenities, including many delicious meals at The Regatta Pub, located in the hotel. Our room was very comfortable, with plenty of room for two. The front desk and housekeeping services were excellent. Everyone friendly and helpful. Will be back for another visit.

Beautiful hotel, with a fitness room and swimming pool that I can't review because I didn't use it because I only stayed one night. The room is spacious as well as the bathroom although in place of the classic bathtub with shower I was expecting something more innovative. In the hall you can enjoy a fresh lemonade and biscuits. In a strategic position because a few km from the attractions of the city that I found very beautiful. Given the prices, if you stop for a while it is fine but for an overnight stay the costs are high.

Excellent accommodations, and can't ask for a more convenient location! Indoor pool is quite lovely as well.

Love love love this Hotel. My husband and I stayed here for about 5 nights in late 2014. The staff were so very friendly. Room was lovely and the bar served yummy food and drinks. I would stay again any time.

Not going back. They were so rude. Had me sign two loads of bills and charged my card a week after the trip and without telling me! Also there was no food avaliable in the hotel for our stay.

Thank you to all who made my sons birthday awesome, by surprising him with the largest piece of chocolate cake I have ever seen shortly after check in. In addition for the free tickets to three local museums and a free piece of cheese cake for me. Totally awesome!

Food was great but me and my wife went there and the reservasion was in her name but we hadnt changed it and had to have her walk in the cold because they wouldnt let me pay for the room even tho i informed them we just got married.

My daughter's wedding was there last Saturday and I can't say enough about the place. Everything was very elegant. The wedding planner and all the staff, the food, the rooms were all great. Highly recommended.

Nice hotel with good service. Good location within walking distance of many restaurants and pubs in Salem.

The furniture in the room is kinda run down. The heat never kicks off so you either have it on and it's blazing hot or you just have to turn it off. Vending machine for snacks but no vending for drinks, you can get them at the bar or room service only till 10.
Parking is free so that's a plus. The toiletries are good quality and smell amazing.

Lovely location for a professional event, the conference room space is comfortable, with beautiful chandeliers yet also very good acoustics.

We loved this hotel! Right in the heart of everything in Salem! Nice staff, great rooms with good amenities! The thing I liked most is that they have golf carts to drop you off at Sea Level! After a long day of walking we needed that ride! Would highly recommend staying here for sure! The restaurant wasnt the best, as we felt the food was just ok, and our waitress seemed brand new and confused. But we loved the outdoor seating area to hang at night and overall had a wonderful time!

Our room at the hotel was spacious, with a king bed and two windows. The hotel located within easy walking distance from the Salem Witch Trials Memorial and the Salem Maritime NHS. Plus, there are good dining options nearby.

Over all the stay was great. Comfortable accommodations and a very friendly staff. Amenities are fantastic and very close to the sites youll want to see. The only negative is there really isn't much of a waterfront. Yes the hotel property sits adjacent to a small marina but it's across the parking lot from the building and only a hand full of rooms actually can see water. The rest are on an alley or looking over the parking lot at a Bank.

The hotel felt cozy. We loved the heated pool and complimentary hot coco bar and location to downtown. Restaurant was horrible. Did not know mayo hollandaise was a thing, it definitely shouldnt be.

We enjoyed our stay here and it had all of the elements that we needed good service, comfortable beds, clean, and a very warm pool area.

Great location and great staff. Stayed for one night Halloween weekend. It was the perfect location to see all of the local sites. They decorate really nice for Halloween.

Room was clean, comfortable and warm. Food was very good.

The town, and location were great. But the staff was not very good. I was sharing a suite and had called the hotel many times to tell that I was running late and to allow the other guests to check into my room. But the hotel never answered my phone, nor did they call me back (despite the voice mail greeting saying that I would be contacted within 15 mins). This caused a big issue when the other guests arrived, and they were treated like trespassers and weren't allowed into the hotel room.

We also requested room service, with extra towels and cups. We received the towels and cups, but no room service was ever done. When I called to ask why nobody had cleaned the room, I was told 'you only requested extra towels and cups, and no cleaning'. Why would I do that? And I made the request, why are you telling me that I asked for something different?

There was also construction going on at the building across the street. While this is obviously not the fault of the hotel, it still made me angry that I was woken up at 8am on a Saturday by loud banging when someone was putting up new siding on a building across the street.

Online pics look great, reality is not as nice. I'd suggest a different option. It's not horrible, but you can do better for the price.

Rooms are big and modern. Location is perfect. If you are in relatively good health, you can walk to many restaurants, bars and tourist attractions. The pool is nice, a bit small, but nice. Standard rooms don't come w/ refrigerators or any kitchen to speak of. More of a nice place to crash out after a busy day.

Its okay, its nice, its clean, the pool is amazing..... i wish they had one of those big continental breakfasts, instead we walked to gulu gulu cafe for breakfast, wich i recommend..... they also let us stay parkedd in the lot while we did some trouristing in salem.

Nice location in salem......room not worth the rate charged. Our mini fridge barely kept cold and the ac/heat unit is really out dated. Made lots of noise when running.

A great place for families! Central location in Salem with easy access to Boston. We love it here!
