Nice location & nice looking building but a little tired.

Bedside shelf in our room was hanging at a weird angle, mattress sagged in the middle. Worst of all, the noise levels from next door & also upstairs were ridiculous. It may be an old building, but you don't want to be woken up every time another guest turns over in bed or visits the bathroom. Guess that explains why reception sell ear plugs at $5 a go!

Could have put up with any/all of this in a budget hotel but this was the most expensive place we stayed on a 2 week road trip. Nice, yes. Premium, absolutely not.

Amazing location and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. It was great for our anniversary trip. The view from the pool is beautiful! Rooms are not too fancy, hence the 4 star review, but otherwise perfect if you re more about location and friendly people.

Our stay was perfect. Everyone that works there is incredibly friendly and accommodating. They were great with our dog that was traveling with us and went out of their way to make our stay amazing. The ladies at the front desk went above and beyond to even get him a stuffed animal as he was recovering from being sick. Definitely recommend!!

We came here for a tour of Emerson as a potential wedding venue, and we fell in love with it before we had even parked the car. It is not the most luxurious place, but the charm and comfort we felt walking through the door more than compensated! The rooms are clean, beds look nice and soft yet still firm, and the views of the ocean are fantastic. We longer it so much we are having our wedding here later this year!

We had our wedding at the Emerson Inn in early November. We can t say enough wonderful things about the whole experience. The Inn is beautiful with gorgeous ocean views, but maintains a relaxed and homey vibe, which is absolutely perfect. We had exclusive use of the inn for our guests and everyone commented on how much they loved their time there. The whole weekend felt so personal and like us, and didn t feel like a cookie cutter type of wedding whatsoever. The food was OUTSTANDING. Many people shared with us how much they liked the buffet that we had. Even the breakfasts were terrific each morning! And lastly, Candice (the event coordinator) was amazing to work with. She thought of everything and made our wedding day feel seamless and special. We will be returning to the Emerson Inn for years to come!!

First time here, so much nicer than a cookie cutter Holiday Inn or Hilton. Historic building, built in the mid 1800's. Beautiful views, NO NOISE, dog friendly rooms, huge beds. Ask about the buildings history when you get here. There is one room in which Ralph Waldo Emerson stayed, which has been maintained as if he still frequented the inn.

My husband and I got married at the Emerson Inn in September 2018 and it truly is a one of a kind experience. Everyone that attended commented on how cool it was that the entire hotel was only booked by our wedding guests and therefore, anyone they said hello to would be a family member or friend. This was one of the aspects that we ended up loving the most, in fact our nieces and nephew almost got too comfortable and started walking around with no shoes as if it was their home.

The staff are very helpful and make you feel a part of the family. Candice is a wonderful event manager and really helps you through the entire process and executes everything perfectly on the day of the wedding. I was ecstatic that the venue came with her services as the same day coordinator and I didn t have to recruit any family to set anything up. Everyone could just enjoy themselves and celebrate!

We had an event planned each day throughout the weekend, a Welcome Drink, the wedding and then a brunch and they were all executed exactly how we wished. It allowed us to just take in all the moments and really enjoy time with our guests. The food was also so delicious!! We had wedding guests that came up to us and said it was the best meal they ever ate! The breakfast each morning is phenomenal!

At first, I was nervous about the size of the venue s dance space, but honestly, it was awesome because our 150 person wedding took over the space and made it a huge dance party! It was incredible! Oh and how can I forget about the views!! One CANNOT beat the view of the venue. It is an absolutely stunning back drop for a wedding ceremony and we were definitely blessed by mother nature the weekend we got married. I highly recommend the Emerson Inn! We will be back to enjoy the ocean view as a getaway too!

Great front desk crew. Nice room. Careful attention to cleanliness and socks l social distancing. Excellent linens and towels. I would skip the food until they can get mote staff after Covid times end. My dinner was burnt and breakfast was not hot. The waitstaff were nice and tried to be attentive but they seemed short staffed.

Upon arriving for breakfast we were created by pleasant smiled and warm good mornings. The breakfast itself was average. It totaled 40$ for two to eat which I felt was overpriced for what was received.

I stayed here while attending a workshop and this place was fantastic. I didn't know anything about this place before I came. From when I got there, long before I as able to check in, the atmosphere of the building and it's proximity facing east next to to the ocean, had me. Seriously, this place is like a movie set. The staff was everywhere you needed them and they were very professional. They completed the atmosphere. I never had to do more than look around or take two steps outside my room for anything. I am going to bring my family back here.

We had our wedding at the Emerson Inn at the end of April and were so happy with the experience. Candice, the Events Manager, and Emily, the Guest Services Manager, were both incredible throughout the whole process of booking the Inn, rooms, and putting together our wedding.

The rooms are lovely, clean, and very comfortable (the beds are awesome). The food from the Pigeon Cove Tavern was great-we did a buffet and all the food was delicious-and breakfast was yummy as well! Of course, the view and location cannot be beat.

If you're looking for a relaxing and lovely night away, or a great place to host your wedding on the water-this is it!

Wonderful location, excellent food. The only issue we had was with a desk attendant who became too defensive when a problem arose around the lack of an elevator. The problem was eventually resolved to our satisfaction.

We liked this hotel. It's under New Management and needs some time to get up to speed... The breakfast was pretty awful, as inn breakfasts go. Stale bread and sour fruit. The new owner came and said hello to us, so that was nice. I'd give them another year or two! The view is spectacular...

My wife and I ended up here as part of a go where the wind blows road trip. So glad it blew us here to the Emerson Inn.

Emily was absolutely amazing getting us checked in. She s very charming and helpful, and her sense of humor is so on point. She also indulged my 59 questions about the history of the Inn. She s top notch.

Also equally impressed with Kam in the Tavern. He moved through the dining room at light speed and never did a plate or cup go empty. The food was well above any other breakfast buffet I ve ever had.

The rooms are so cozy and the beds are just amazing!

This is just a wonderful place to relax and be surrounded by good vibes.

The view of the coastline is terrific when sitting on the terrace of this restaurant at the Emerson Inn called Pigeon Cove Tavern. The service was great, and the server who was from Greece actually spoke Hindi and wants to travel to India after she saves up some money. Food is variable, was good the last time we were here when the chef was different and has since left. The food this time was OK but not great.

I got married here 27 years ago and it doesn't seem they've done much to the place since. The spot is wonderful and charming. However, the value mid-week, mid-winter is poor. they did upgrade us one notch, but as the place was empty that was a no brainer for them. The room is nice enough for an old hotel, the bed was very nice (but no down pillows) but the breakfast was not worth the effort, neither theirs nor mine. In the summer give it a try if you like that sort of thing. In the winter, you're better off at the Hampton Inn.

Great hotel in a beautiful scenery. Staff is very friendly and helpfull. I would recommend having dinner here, refined and well-prepared. The only negative point is the breakfast: not much to choose from. Would have expected more since the dinner was outstanding....

Quiet, peaceful, very nice people, amazing views and ocean breezes. Plenty of shade on the porch to watch the scenic views. Close to a world class music theater in town. (Shailan Lui). The restaurant offers delicious dinner at a reasonable price. I suggest that the owners add a larger umbrellas for the pool area. We would highly recommend this spot and will come here again and again. I ve been coming to Rockport every year for day trips. This was our first time doing an overnight. What a nice surprise.

It took me a number of phone calls and alot of time to acquire and get confirmation of two rooms in October. I finally got confirmation of one room but not the other. The explanation I got was that they had neglected to transfer the credit card info from one room to the other. I have these suggestions: (1) Reservations personnel should not have thick foreign accents. (2) Computer records of room availability at the hotel should be accurate. (3) If two rooms are reserved full info on each room should be obtained during the phone call. I hope that service when we check in will be better than what I have experienced thus far.

We got a warm welcome at Emerson Inn. Although we arrived very early a room was already preparred. We got some advice about places to visit and where to eat. The room was clean and the staff friendly.

I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Rockport at the Emerson. They staff was friendly and pleasantly spunky. The bed was very comfortable and the room had a great view of the ocean. The location was ideal and you can walk from the hotel along the shore on the rocks.

Lovely rooms and lobby. Grounds are pretty. For a bed and breakfast, they only offered pastries in am, supposedly till 11am, they were out of coffee by 10am, and pastries gone by 9am noone checked and refilled the pastries. Regular breakfast was to be paid for in the restaurant. Overall, I found the inn relaxing and comfortable which is the most important

We hosted our daughters post wedding brunch at the Emerson on the veranda. The view and the accommodations were superb. The food was excellent and they were able to accommodate our many special diet needs. We appreciated the staffs special efforts to comfort our granddaughter when she got hurt. Very thoughtful and caring!

Fabulous hotel. What a Gem. Totally in awe of our seaview room. Whole experience was amazing including the food. Emily on reception was a pleasure. Very professional but friendly. Could teach alot to other staff who work in city hotels. Keep up the great work.

The breakfast was hot and fresh, and coffee and smiles from staff plentiful.

The hotel itself is gorgeous and abuts the ocean. I imagine taking breakfast on the deck in the summer to watch the sun come up would be magnificent.

Our room was quite small for the amount of guests we saw visiting this weekend, however, it is a historical inn so having small rooms doesn't shock me. We were disappointed that our room was hot and we weren't able to adjust to use the fan setting on the Mitsubishi unit however the staff made accommodations by providing much needed white noise.

We were actually engaged moments after we checked out by the water so this hotel now has special meaning to me.

There was a beautiful art, antique furniture, and a chalkboard sign that said "welcome back"... We will return.

We got married at the Emerson Inn in June 2019, and we COULD NOT HAVE BEEN HAPPIER with that choice of venue! We fell in love with the inn the first time we visited- it s charming and intimate and the views are beautiful- but it s always hard to know ahead of time how the experience will be. It not only was everything I d hoped, but exceeded expectations across the board! We had 88 people at our wedding so we did the exclusive use package where you fill the 34 rooms of the inn for the weekend. Having everyone in one place allowed for so much more convenience for the guests (since they didn t have to worry about transportation between events) and more time for all of us to catch up: over breakfast, relaxing on the porch, etc. I loved getting ready in the morning and glancing out on the lawn to see friends coming and going, playing lawn games, relaxing at the pool, going for walks, etc. We had the ceremony inside the parlor (the fallback plan for weather), and it was beautiful. The space/layout was great for the reception too.
Just as great as the setting was the SERVICE!! Everyone was commenting on it: all of the waitstaff were exceptionally helpful, proactive with solving problems, and positive. Candice is the event coordinator and she took care of everything. She really cares about what she does and her heart was in it from beginning to end. She was also perfect with sort of preserving and protecting our plan for what we wanted: when guests had suggestions (turning down music volume during dinner, or wouldn t it be nice if the flower girls did XYZ ), Candice politely and succinctly deferred to our plan, or checked in with us to confirm whether that was okay with us- she was focused, positive, and socially masterful. Emily the rooming coordinator was proactive and helpful. The food was delicious for our catered meals and for morning breakfast, and everything worked out well across the board. HIGHLY recommend Emerson Inn for a wedding venue!!!

There are no elevators as this is an old Inn, not a modern remake of an old inn, its the real deal. I have balance and leg weakness issues and the stairs were well worth the view. Also the staff is more than willing to help with luggage.

I had a single room with a queen sized bed that couldn't have been more comfortable. The room itself was spotlessly clean. I have been in 4 and 5 star modern hotels that were not as clean. The view was the star though, a panoramic view of the ocean, no other decoration needed.

The staff could not have been more responsive or accommodating. Everyone was friendly and eager to help in any way. The service was spot on and the food, even during these crazy times, was amazing. As I was dinning with a friend I couldn't help but notice a new staff member being trained on the proper way to clear and clean the tables, as a nurse I was impressed.

The Emerson is nestled in a quiet neighborhood by the ocean. There are numerous public foot paths down to the ocean through the area. I walked down to the rocks just off the property to watch the sunrise. Halibut Point State Park is just a short walk down the road or It can be accessed on the public foot paths. I would bring rugged shoes as it is rocky and muddy in some areas after a rain. I was thinking my walking polls would not have been a bad idea, but I have balance issues.

The area itself has many points of interest. Bearskin Neck had shops open with limited access, but still a lovely walk to the top of the neck and down town. I was happy to explore the area and just relax on the huge wrap around veranda or at the pool.

This was truly a wonderful way to relax and destress and I look forward to many more trips to the Emerson. Next time I'm bringing the hubby.

Lovely rooms, fabulous ambience, fantastic ocean view with beautiful landscaping. Nice and peaceful tranquil location. Breakfast is including when you book directly through the hotel. Breakfast was outstanding. Thank you Sarah for making our anniversary stay exemplary! The chocolate covered strawberries were delish! Can t say enough about this historical hotel. We will definitely be back to enjoy the property again.

Beautiful views of water, boats, shoreline. Nicely designed entrance area, clean. Our room was a box with streetview. Tiny bathroom. Fine for our one night stay. Biggest issue was no mirrors except a small one in bathroom. Mirror would make room appear bigger as well. Friendly staff. Accommodating.

Amazing view of the Atlantic ocean and sunrise is absolutely stunning. Nothing more relaxing than an early morning walk by the ocean with the dog to unwind. The entire staff was very helpful and friendly and they welcome dogs which gives an even more relaxing feel. Cannot wait to go back and spend a week here.

We went there in September, 2016, which offers the perfect weather in New England, and found the inn delightful - wonderful soothing colors, fabulous food and wine in the dining roon, friendly personnel, and just a lovely experience. I would recommend it highly!

Excellent location, really kind, friendly and accommodating staff, and the hotel is kept very clean. It s an old inn so I was worried about it being musty, but it s actually fresh and clean and full of beautiful sunshine and ocean breezes. The physical building and some of the furnishings are a bit run-down, but I think that s reflected in the price, given the location. If you love ocean views and friendly staff, this is the hotel for you. If you re looking for a fancy spot that has a scene, this is not it. Breakfast every morning on the patio was delightful, and Cam the breakfast manager was awesome. We will definitely be back!

This hotel is absolutely gorgeous with views of the ocean. The rooms were clean and charming with comfortable beds. I loved the mix of the preserved history of the building with tasteful modern touches/updates that did not take away of confuse the lovely vintage history. I was surprised how quite it was at night- I slept very well and it was the highlight of our entire trip!
