I have not stayed at the Salem Waterfront Hotel & Suites, nor am I likely to do so. I have tried for the last fifteen minutes to discover the prices of their various special packages listed on their Website, and I have been unable to do so.

From what I can see, one has to actually make a reservation, complete with providing credit card information, to find out how much these special packages are going to cost -- no. No, I'm not going to go that far. If the Salem Waterfront Hotel & Suites wants to play Tease 'n' Grab, that's fine, but I'm not going to play.

There are other fine hotels in the area, none of which have any problem clearly showing their charges for the various amenities. I shall stay at one of them, thank you.

This is a pretty good hotel. Average rooms, that are well cleaned. The room service is mediocre but nothing was out right bad. It has parking available levels and the hotel is located right next to the historic tourist areas of town.

Salem Waterfront Hotel got my email from a list because I attended a bridal expo. I never spoke to them, was never interested in their hotel, and never wanted to hear from them. They have emailed me 4 times now, and every time I have asked to be removed from their contact list. I cannot simply unsubscribe because they are totally unprofessional and email me diretly. I have asked Mary to stop contacting me, but I still get emails from her every couple of months.

For the outrageous price there was no place to get any kind of drinks that wasn't at the over priced, understaffed restaurant at the first floor. Uncomfortable bedding and the pool was so slimy it was like bathing in scum. Front desk was very rude if you wanted to step out front for a cigarette at night.

Food was delicious, service was attentive...the outside patio area is nice but it's in a parking lot so even though you are really close to water, there isn't a view. Still though, the food was pretty good with a solid portion of lobster meat.

I loved the color scheme of the furniture and decorations in the front lobby--all beautiful shades of sage green. The staff are great, very personable and accommodating. The rooms are pretty nice as well. I saw 2 different rooms and was surprised at how different the sizes were, and I'm assuming they were the same price. The pool is a nice touch (I love me a pool!) but it was slightly oddly placed--street level on the main strip near the waterfront. Regardless, the location is the best part about this place, hands down. You are in the thick of it all, and you can walk anywhere in Salem.

A true gem! Salem Waterfront combines a great location with a phenomenal facility and amazing staff. Rooms are well appointed and comfortable. The bar/restaurant has a solid list of beers on tap with great food. I can't say enough positive things about the property - I look forward to every stay here.

Nicely located with lots to see and do in walking distance. Professional staff, knowledgeable of the area. A bit pricey but fits the area. Only indoor heated pool around. Small but useful exercise room. Definitely be back...

The hotel was beautiful and in a great location but we had an air conditioner that didn't work the person at the desk was rude and we had a guy trying to fix it and then install a portable one in the room for two hours they did offer us another room but my 79 year old mother and 81 year old aunt were already in bed and in their pajamas when this happened. We decided that we were not staying another night so they let us have the privilege of leaving early without the penalty of the fee to check out early. This is a wanna be luxury hotel without a lot of the amenities that a hotel that cost less has. They gave us 40 dollars off our bill but we're so rude about it I would never recommend staying here!!

We liked the location and the hotel. But the problem is that it's your turn to pay for park sometimes if theirs is full. I think the hotel should have some parking for them for the guests only, because it is us who need comfort

Great place to stay. Very accommodating, clean and a great central location. The staff was friendly and helpful. Couldn t ask for a better experience. Only issue I had was the restaurant. The waitress wasn t very friendly and the food way over priced for what it was. But the hotel was amazing. Wish they had a hot tub.

Stayed here for (2) nights during a recent trip for a wedding. Room was spacious and clean - The bathroom did show a little age but nothing that ruined the visual appeal. For some reason the heat in the room would just not work and it was in the 20's outside which made for a pretty cold room. The bed was very firm and the mattress was not "plush". Lobby was nice and the bar was nice to meet friends and have a drink. Centrally located giving the ability to walk to local restaurants and pubs.

I am confused after reading the other reviews..Did we just happen to get a bad room? Our curtains were ripped and the paint was peeling off the bathroom ceiling. I will admit room service was fantastic from the restaurant downstairs. For the high price we paid for our room I was really expecting more for the money.

we stayed at this hotel for one night in a suite. the pictures of the rooms on their website and the actual rooms are not comparable. wallpaper was peeling, room was dark, and dingy. upon returning home we noticed our card had been charged an additional $250. when I called to inquire about the charge I was told it was for a deep cleaning fee due to smoking in the room, that's funny, because we don't smoke. after going back and forth to no avail and the charge still being upheld I came to write a review only to find that this charge is common practice at this specific hotel. needless to say we will not be staying at this hotel again, nor will we be recommending it to anyone.

As soon as I stepped in the room it smelled very bad. I went to the lobby and asked that they please send housekeeping to the room. I didn t feel that I wanted to make a scene, and don t like being difficult. I left went out for a walk around town, came back and it still smelled. I went back to the front desk and let them know, at that point Brian apologized, and said he would have the boss and housekeeping look into that. I thanked him and left for dinner. Upon return it still smelled. I let Brian know via telephone, then I went downstairs and let him know that I was tired, and my feet hurt. I told him that I was going to leave to go to the store to purchase an air freshener. When I returned I asked that a manager follow up with me.
The next morning, no phone call via cell or on the phone in the room.
When I was leaving I asked if the manager was available, I was told he wasn t.
I went about my day, when I came back to the hotel I asked to speak with the manager. It s now 5 PM... guess who walks out? Brian! Who did not indicate last night that he WAS the manager. I asked if he was the manager- he said yes. I asked him if he was the manager why did he let me leave here to get an air freshener? He said you left on you own accord . I explained that I have stayed in 1 star hotels up to 5 stars, I have NEVER needed to leave to get air freshener for a stinky room ever. He was very uninterested in my complaint. He offered to move my room, which would have resolved this problem the night before, especially since he is the manager he should have done that the night prior. I have already solved the problem, I wanted to speak with him to let him know what my experience had been, he didn t care that my stay was unpleasant due to his poor management. I will leave the air freshener with the hotel as my gift to them, since clearly they need it more than I do.

Attend Salem Horror Fest's Elvira shooting. We arrived an hour early and began form in a line as more people showed up. It was cold and raining pretty hard. The staff was nice enough to let us inside despite it being an hour away. The venue was small, but well managed so things kept moving once we began the shooting. The only downside is the free photo couldn't be printed until 10pm and we weren't hotel guests so we missed out on that. Other than that the hotel did a fantastic job accommodatong the event.

Great location, one of the two hotels in Salem. Walking distance to everything you'd want to see in Salem. Only downside are slightly thin walls. Request a quiet room if you have issues sleeping.

In regards to an event we held at the hotel on a Sunday:
I enjoyed 100% working with my initial contact Elizabeth who was wonderful and she answered all my questions and was so helpful. I was extremely disappointed in the service and responsiveness after she left. The month of the event, a new contact who stepped in completely ignored my emails for a week because she was in the hospital -- that is NOT her fault but Salem Waterfront should have put up her away message at least. The Waterfront should always have their employee s backs and have the best interest for maintaining the reputation of the company and employee as the hospitality industry is just a huge part just customer service which I feel like Salem Waterfront failed in.

As a company in event venues/planning that deals with time sensitive questions, you should really have protocols in place for this type of thing. The following week leading up to the event, I had several emails and questions go unanswered about audio/visual, setup, point of contact for day of, etc. - she could only be bothered to get my signature for the BEO order, but wouldn't answer any of my other emails. It was total radio silence. You would think she would answer my emails after I told her on the phone I was pretty upset that no one answered me before for a whole week because planning is a bit stressful and we needed to make sure we had all the necessary items we needed for day of I left voicemails and no answer either. If she had at least addressed my other questions, that might ve rectified the issue but she continued to ignore me all the way up to the event. Very big turn off for an event business. I would not recommend now to my friends and family. What a huge turn off for an event venue, we paid a lot to host it there and got awful support/service during the planning process. Giving a few stars for decent food for day of.

Relatives had money taken from their room during a recent stay. Nothing was done about it.

EDIT: In regards to the answer from the Manager, no they were not satisfied. The money went missing after check-out, rather than at the beginning of the stay, as you indicate. The money was kept in a small sock, a sock that was RETURNED to the guests, after check-out, WITHOUT the money in it. Needless to say, the money wasn't "found later", as you assume.

Great accommodations. Clean and well kept. Great pub/cafe. Only complaints are beds themselves are extremely uncomfortable but the bedding is very comfortable. Toilets are extremely low. Would definitely stay again!

We went for Mother's Day - The website listed complementary tea and dessert upon check-in. I showed the clerk on my phone because she had never heard of it, she had to take my phone to show her manager, who had also never hear of it. They said they could give me a complementary coffee. The clerk didn't give us our passes to the Witch Museum, when we remembered we need them, we returned to her to get them and she said, "oh they didn't give you those at check-in", no "you" didn't. We had to have someone else who worked there give them to us. The beds were VERY uncomfortable. Our waitress at the on site restaurant made my drink wrong - twice. We went down to the restaurant the next morning for breakfast and stood waiting to be seated for several minutes. The manager eventually saw us and just held up one finger, like 1 second. Several minutes later another restaurant customer just told us to have a seat anywhere. We sat, waited for 15min, no one ever came over and we got up and left to go find somewhere else to get breakfast. We checked out first and will never be going back. I'm not usually picky, but this place repeatedly got it wrong. I didn't let it ruin my Mother's Day, but it definitely ruined my trip.

We stayed at the Salem Waterfront Hotel for our anniversary this past year. I had been researching places to stay in the area for a few months and felt with both the positive reviews and the modern conveniences that this would be the perfect place for us. I am happy to say it was! Rooms were very clean, staff was very kind and accommodating. It is perfectly located within walking distance to all of the attractions, shops and restaurants in the area. We are already planning our second visit and bringing friends! I highly recommend the Salem Waterfront Hotel.

The hotel was wonderful, I was a bit disappointed when I asked for a Veteran discount on Veterens day and the young man told me NO and he didn't know how to give a discount...
When I got my bill for food and drinks they had charged me more for a glass of wine, should of bees $7.00 and was charged $10.00, really. The manager told me that they didn't have the brand I wanted so they gave me the most expensive one!! Really??? It's lime ordering a hamburger and getting a steak, sorry they should of let me k ow before giving me the higher prices one..
But our waitress for the evening was super great Yllanne..
The morning waitress not so, she needs to smile and pretend she likes her job if not find another job...
Will I stay there again, maybe.

I stayed at the Salem waterfront and I will never stay there again. I was charged for item that was broken when I got their. Tried calling to speak to the Manager David was given the story he was in meetings all day. After leaving a message and not getting a call back decide to call again. David was very rude and condescending. Did not care to hear me out and told me I have to show proof! Never had I stayed in a place where I was treated so bad. I was taken back by his unprofessional manner. He went as far as to accuse my 20 year child of braking the item. Which was not true! The pullout mattress was the worst, you felt every spring possible. Just beware when staying there you might get charged extra!
