The hotel lobby and grounds were gorgeous and the view from our room was nice. We had a Governor s Room which was pricey. For this pricey room we got: 1. A messed up birthday dinner reservation at one of their restaurants (when we checked in on July 30 we were told we had no reservation for the 1st at 7:00, (even though I had proof there was one) so we made reservations for a less desirable time. We found out from the restaurant hostess that we had 2 reservations; 2. A small room with an unbelievably small bathroom with only a shower and NO counter space; 3. A very nice chair but with TORN upholstry; 4. Incorrect information concerning the departure time of The Morgan from its dock for the afternoon lake tour; and 5. A towel rack that FELL OFF the wall. But the worst one was the botched delivery of a surprise birthday gift to me of Champagne and Strawberries from my husband s children. They asked that the gift be delivered to me at 5:30 pm on August 1 (the delivery time was confirmed with the hotel on the morning of the 1st). The strawberries were delivered at 6:45 pm with a card attached that was addressed to my husband - not me! They then tried to deliver the bottle of champagne - we declined the bottle because we were walking out the door to honor our dinner reservation(s)! My husband was very upset about the surprise gift being botched and his children were NOT happy either. In my opinion this is not a 4.5 star hotel.

The professionalism of this hotel needs to be reviewed by the owners. It is a fact that to pull a firer alarm anywhere is a felony. To have one pulled in a hotel of this caliber and not be told it is a false alarm until one has to run downstairs to the front desk in complete panic is not right. Manager Jamie Smith was not only insensitive to my explanation of how upsetting this event was to me, having lived through a firer with my family. She felt not need to compensate in anyway. A cup of tea would of been fine. Very unprofessional as a manager.

Had a lovely time visiting the Sagamore. My family went to celebrate my stepfather's 70th birthday. I stayed in a king suite in lodge 7. The room and view was absolutely gorgeous. On the map it looked like lodge 7 was very far from the main hotel, but it's not that far at all. You can take a very short drive up or there is shuttle service. The food was beyond delicious. And the service is top notch. The breakfast buffet was also very good. Make sure to make time for some family fun in the recreation building. There is mini golf, a rock wall, tons of board games, an indoor whiffle ball "field", and a number of other activities. Our entire experience was fantastic will definitely be going back. Highly recommend!!!

My husband and I came to The Sagamore for the first time to have lunch. The view of Lake George is absolutely beautiful. We ate at the Pavillion restaurant. The food we ordered- a burger and a sandwich- was delicious, although the drinks we ordered never came. Thankfully, we weren't charged for them. It was clear that the servers were very overwhelmed the day we were there, but the experience overall was still pleasant. We enjoyed being able to walk around the resort, even though we weren't staying there. We will give it another try for sure.

Beautiful resort. The main hotel it gives you the feel of the high class and prestige. Staff is attentive and friendly. Amenities are great. Awesome fitness center, plenty of dinning options on site. Any season is a great time to visit.

Absolutely beautiful resort, minor covid related issues (no room cleaning, limited hours and meals) totally understandable. My issue was that we were given a room with no air conditioning. After 9 hours and multiple calls, we were given a wall unit to help. Things happen, stuff breaks but this occurred and part was ordered before they gave us the room.

Went there for drinks and appetizers after spending the morning at Adirondack Extreme. It isn't the cheapest place you could go to for a beverage and some food, but that's to be expected if you are going to the Sagamore. Our server was a slow and not the most attentive ,however, the added time was welcomed with the views of the lake that we had!

Loved our stay for anniversary. However, we were looking for the as advertised romantic weekend away from our kids and there were kids EVERYWHERE, There for 3 days didnt sit and relax in hot tub once. Always loaded with kids, should have restrictions for such an expensive up scale resort. Spa exceptional.

Nothing special- way overrated
Got charged the first night $40 for parking my car 200 , paid $235 for mediocre bar food in the pub, The room is very small, had to fix the shower head on my own because it was missing a part and sprayed all over the bathroom the first time my wife turned the water on. Found out later that people in the same block had stayed in a suite for a lot less. Now I see I got charged another $50 a day later. My advice to anyone is to drive 3/4 of a mile and stay at just as nice place for a fraction of the price-$450 a night is crazy for that long of nonsense

The lodge rooms are not nice at all contrary to the way they are described on the phone an don the website, they are in a basement and barely above ground way over priced for the quality, the property is nice but the rooms at that grade for that price not worth it at all.

This was supposed to the honeymoon for us in the time of corona. Little did the hotel do to ensure safe boundaries were kept. But before getting to that let s not forget the first night out of four. We were awakened by a family with at least two small children that were completely uncontrollable at 6am! The volume of the screaming was so loud it was as if they were in the room. The call to the front desk suggested sending security, which was obviously not the issue. It was the fact that the walls are paper and you can hear every peep from your neighbors. We insisted on getting moved since the hotel refused to move the cause of the problem - yes, here s the issue at hand.

After umpteen rounds with hotel management we finally were moved into a different room in a more quiet zone but it came at the cost of a smaller room. 50% to be precise. Did they discount our room price accordingly. No! We had to point out this differential to them. Instead they gave us something close to it but it was only accepted because of fatigue. We wanted to enjoy the rest of our stay - yes we did decide to stay. Had we not we would ve been refunded in full.

Restaurants - if you re lucky you ll catch a bartender or waiter/waitress in a good mood. I recommend 11.30am for lunch. Any other time they re just annoyed and publicly showing resentment to their jobs. How about this, you show up to make a reservation for dinner at 2pm. The first you re told in a snotty way is the restaurant is booked until at least 9pm. I never stated when I wanted the reservation yet I was immediately delivered an attitude.

Adding insult to injury is the fact that the hotel is not adhering to social distancing nor is it even considering to enforce its own rules. We ve traveled the world and have never had issues like this before.

The fact that we spent a fortune ($700+ per night) for something that is more like a Courtyard by Marriott is astounding and a mistake on our side. We should ve been better at doing the research. I will never come back to this place. Never. It s sad because the grounds are beautiful. But, with a management that only cares about the last dollar earned this is what will be. It has a very cruise-like service level and vibe.

This place is not worth the ridiculous premium they re charging and if you have a choice go somewhere else. This is not worth it. They actually have nerve.

Absolutely beautiful hotel and grounds! Problems with the rooms which included first night no air for a couple hours, and quite a few bugs in the bathroom. Buffet breakfast was amazing. Pools were clean. Rec building for the teens was entertainment for hours.

Definitely the place to go for an anniversary or retreat. All you need in place! Very surprised how wonderful and peaceful this place is. Love the quiet relaxing atmosphere and definitely recommend it.

The environment is amazing due to beautiful Lake George. The staff was super friendly. In comparison to other 4 start hotels that we've stayed, the accommodations were very bland and definitely not 4 star by any means. In detail, the functionality of things were literally backwards (hot = cold visa versa), fans didn't work, A/C was loud, the overall decor was tacky.

Lake George is amazing and there is a lot of competition in the area. We will be checking out other places next time as this was not worth the cost.

Spectacular place with amazing views. Food can be better and staff can be a bit more friendly. Breakfast was good; first day the waitress just came one time to the table, second day service was good. Lunch outside from the restaurant is below average; frozen food, tasteless and expensive. The shuttle service can be better. Rooms were excellent, cleaning was good. Spa services were amazing and the pool was very nice too.

This is the third Opal collection hotel that I stay in and I give a 4/5. There's plenty of room to improve.

They failed to deliver a babysitter though I booked more than a month ahead. First vacation with twins and guess who s going to have to stay in the room every night? Bad bad bad service. Never again

We had a bad stay for two reasons. 1.) The crowd was different than in normal times. The "price point" usually guarantees a somewhat more civilized crowd. This year however, the people were loud and seemingly ignored the fact that other people were in earshot, small children were left unattended and people left their garbage on chairs and pool tables. Also, there seemed to be a disregard for other guests with regards attire. Ratty clothing at The Pavilion cheapens the experience for all. 2.) They were sold at 100% capacity. The pool, beach, lobby and restaurants were overcrowded and CDC social distancing guidelines were not followed or enforced. I plan to give the place another chance after the pandemic to see if the regular crowd shuffles back in.

Fantastic hotel! I highly recommend it. They also have the best breakfast buffet. The resort is clean and staff are very accommodating. Winter is quieter verse the summer; however, they make sure there are plenty of activities for the kids. The spa is really nice for the adults. Definitely will be back!

Fantastic stay. Pool and hot tub were great, free shuttles to town and around the island. Also, the rec center was a lot of fun for a rainy day. Great put put and the kids loved the climbing wall. Will absolutely stay again.

This is not the place it used to be. All the class is gone, and the rooms are now very run down. They got our reservations incorrectly and gave us a room with a queen bed for four adults. Really? Save your money. The previous owners were a delight. These people only care about profits.

Overrated. Doors don't close tight. Handles fall off in the shower. Towel holder rings are loose and fall on the floor when you remove the towel. Food quality and menu choices are very average, nothing very imaginative. The place looks great from the outside, but when you bore down a little deeper and actually get into the core of the entire facility , the rooms are dated and dank.
On a good note, the Morgan tour was very nice with good staff and great Captain Craig. The bellhops were on the spot, helping with bags and rides to rooms .
I have no problem paying $250 - $400 for a place like this was 8 or 10 years ago. The quality of The Sagamore has, regrettably gotten to a point where we will be looking for alternatives. Have loved it here, however it needs a makeover asap.

This place is awesome. It delivers in every way even with prices $300-600.
Place is immaculate. Staff is friendly and attentive, especially near pool. Grounds cant be matched nor can the view.

I stayed for first time ever Aug 2012. Had a room at lodges. Lower lodge suite. 1 bedroom with kitchen and rear porch view if lake. Its heaven. Even for $400/ night. The hotel is beautiful. The pool and lake deck too. We had a 6yr old

She loved it. Tons of families. We loved the free kids camp at recreation center twice a day. They watch your child free fir 3 hrs at a clip and its tons of fun.

The town of Bolton and 10 miles away is Lake george village. Both are great to walk and eat and shop.

Stayed Valentine's Day weekend - Upon check in was offered an upgrade to a suite room at no charge without request. We stayed in one of the lodge suites which had a great view of the lake. There was a welcome reception with champagne. The room was very clean and full of amenities. It was quiet and we didn't hear noise from other rooms. One complaint was the room was left at 55 degrees (in single digit weather) and the bedroom never seemed to get warm after we raised the heat. The fireplace was a nice touch. It stopped working once during our stay but was immediately fixed by the hotel. The 24 hour shuttle around the property was great, especially since the temperatures dropped below 0. We couldn't believe the amount of activities the hotel had to offer! We wish the hotel included all of the property's amenities in an email prior to our arrival as we weren't aware of all of the great things the hotel had to offer. The outdoor fire was cancelled due to the cold weather which was a disappointment, as was the absence of the ice bar which they should operate longer than 2 weeks. The staff was great and we can't wait to go back!

Booked a 2-bedroom condo w/ lake view @ Sagamore R...

Booked a 2-bedroom condo w/ lake view @ Sagamore Resort for Valentines weekend for two couples. Arrived Friday at the resort around 2 am and checked in. Check-in was smooth and I got all my questions answered. I was informed that only security is onsite until the morning hours. When we got to the room/condo we discovered that it was very cold; over the next two hours we kept increased the heat on the thermostat and expected things to get warmer. Unfortunately, the heating was not functioning properly and none of us were able to sleep due to the temperature, especially in the bedrooms. All 4 of us had to bundle up and sleep in the living room where there was an electric fireplace heater. On valentine s day, this was truly a disgusting experience, ruined the romance and ruined the mood for the entire trip. Please note that the condo itself was very nicely decorated and with amazing furniture.

I called front desk in the morning and spoke to the manager Casey and she had engineering come out to check the situation. The engineer confirmed that the heating was not running, and he had to reset some component. It was finally up and running - engineering did a great job and was a very personable. I went to see the manager in-person afterwards and she mentioned that she would give us 25% of our stay. I wasn't overly content about this but said ok, its something, and carried on with our planned day (which didn't go so well as we were all tired due to inability to sleep in the cold overnight). The resort should keep a 24-hr on-call engineer available, especially for the winter months; engineers are only available from 10am-10pm on weekend.

On Saturday, we went to go plan some spa activities, but nothing was available - I understand that these things probably need to be booked in advance - fair enough. We went to the pool later that day and the kids there were treating the pool like a splash pool and constantly diving in. Water is flying all over the place; there was no oversight from the resort to refrain individuals these activities and it ended up wetting my change of clothes - went there to relax but it was a madhouse and ended up being a rather stressful experience.

At check out, on Sunday, when I requested my final bill, I learned that the 25% was only for that 1 night. I spoke to the manager again and apparently, I misheard, and she said 25% for the 1 night - she offered to take out the resort fee of $80 and I insisted that this was not acceptable. Her final offer was 50% off the first night and added back on the resort fees. This is beyond ridiculous - it was basically like saying here is ~$300 off your ~$2000 trip for sleeping in the cold and ruining your trip.

I went there with high expectations; it fell short greatly. Expected to be compensated fairly by management due to things being faulty at their residences and even that fell short. After this experience, I won't be coming back this resort and I would not recommend. I hope upper management reviews my concerns and makes changes moving forward.
