Wonderful garden, beautiful trees and animals. Well worth the trip
Great place to visit, very picturesque
The cafe can be quite expensive at 4 euro per drink, and restaurant prices but lacking the restaurant quality and service. Staff aren't the friendliest either.
Lovely decorations and ambience, I would recommend starting at the tower and working your way round to the Japanese gardens and then pet cemetery and up through the dolphin pond and walled gardens. Winter is not a great time for the walled gardens but summer time is beautiful.
Its so beautiful. So well maintained and scenery is amazing
Gardens are great to walk around, found it really relaxing and a way to de stress, price of cafe lost a star - notions cafe would be a better name. Prices still in 2007. The waterfall was lovely too, great day out.
Lovely place to visit for a few hours walking and admiring the plants, the trees are amazing.
The property is named after the Norman knight Eustace le Poer. King James I gave the land in 1609 to Sir Richard Wingfield, whom he raised to Viscount Powerscourt. He commissioned the plant around 1730; other ornamental gardens were added in the middle of the 19th century on behalf of the 7th Viscount. Particularly interesting parts of the complex are the Italian and Japanese gardens, the outside staircase between the mansion and Lake Triton, the "Pepper Pot Tower" (a small tower from 1911) and the Bamberg Gate (a gate from the Bamberg Cathedral). Also noteworthy is the small pet cemetery, on which - for some 90 years - dogs, cats, ponies, horses and cows are buried.
The Palladian, built around 1730 around an older building to designs by Richard Cassels mansion burned in 1974 in the interior of the gardens completely inside. Meanwhile, a renovation is in progress, which is largely completed. The manor house, reopened in 1997, is today partly a museum (impressive documents on the fire and reconstruction are also on display), other parts are used for events and for shops. The manor house and grounds today include boutiques and a garden center. Also a golf course is accommodated on the area meanwhile.
This is my favour best the hiyse and garden most famous beautiful and Amazing so brilliant viewsover the wicklow way 2020
Beautiful gardens with a large and very well maintained environment, lagoon, forest, and a Japanese garden at the end with great style and good taste.
Beautiful gardens, a bit too expensive though, going with your partner is fine, going as full family gets a bit pricy
Lovely walk! The whole walk is around 1.5hours. It is really easy to get there from Dublin and also easy to get to the waterfall from there. They also have a movie explaining the history. Highly recommended!
Admission 26-28 per family. I would recommend this place to see.
I highly recommend a visit to Powerscourt House and Gardens. The gardens are a wonderful place to spend time with both formal and informal spaces. There's also the Japanese garden which is very peaceful.
Weekdays are less busy and easier to get around and less busy in the cafe. The house has aself guided tour and film about it's history. There are also several shops selling high quality products including food and clothing. These are well worth a browse. All in all a great place to visit.
Access to the gardens is paying and very expensive. We did not go there
Beautiful garden and building. To do and think about going to see the waterfall
Went to the garden centre this was lovely. Loads of choices for plants and planters. Didn't go into the house as we didn't plan to stay long and it was 10 per adult and 6 per child so a bit pricey
A beautiful location. Service in various shops and restaurant are first class.
It's a great garden with an awesome cafe. However, Ireland has prettier gardens, such as the gardens at Birr Castle and Blarney Castle.
Wonderful but not one of the Top 10 in my view - Versailles, Summer Palace, Buchart, etc. more impressive. Powerscourt needs more flowers!
Wonderful day to stroll around the gardens. Beautifully maintained and extremely relaxing. Loved the Japanese gardens. Great day
House is really a tacky shopping centre selling over-priced gifts and souvenirs but the gardens are superb!
Nice place for golfers with great greens and awesome view of the Wicklow mountains.
Very nice place not to be missed. Only downside the excessive prices in the Shop.
A must visit garden. Excellent treat to your eyes and mind. Nature lovers will definitely enjoy the walk and view....
Lovely grounds and delish food. Perfect day out, if a bit pricey
Recommended and especially the part of the Japanese garden, it is impressive.
Fantastic garden to visit. The japanese garden is of great beauty. A visit is needed at each season. A nice walk for the little legs as well. Price is a bit high, but this garden is definitely well looked after... nice to have the cafe besides as well, the hot chocolate after this was a nice conclusion for our walk.
The garden is massive and spectacular!
Love the chocolate cookies and the vibe there!
The gardens were beautiful. Felt like I was watching the Count of Monte Cristo haha
Steeped in history the most fun thing was the interractive walking tour. A great way to keep children interested, it also was a big eye opener for the big kids. The parkland surrounds need to be seen first hand to be believed. The wonderful building is adorned and surrounded by the most wonderful gardens. Ever popular with tourists it is still possible to feel like you have the place to yourself when you discover a hidden part of these fabulous gardens.
Gardens are really great even when raining weather.
Excellent Course,amazing greens, fabulous scenery.
Play if you get the opportunity.
Excellent place, with magical landscapes, a lot of peace and tranquility. I highly recommend it
After seeing this beautiful house in The Count of Monte Cristo, we were so excited to see this in person. The property is large and fun to walk around. There's a good video that gives a history of the place if you're there for more than just shopping. The gardens were beautiful!
Beautiful house and gardens with regency splendour. It would take more than a day to explore it properly.
Beautiful views and walks, however, cafe and catering are rather pricey. The price of, e.g. 6.50 for a piece of cake is not matched by quality
A beautiful place for a long walk, picnic or a great tea or lunch on the terrace in their Avoca cafe. Entrance in the garden 11.50 euros for adults, 7 for children and kids under 5 years enter free.
Had a blast. In the winter it's not quite as colorful but it's still oppulant. Set aside a good three hours though plus an extra one and a half if you want to see the falls as well.
Great gardens ,expensive shop and restaurant .Worth walking the gardens magnificent.
Lovely to walk walk around the gardens at your own pace. Audio guide very interesting.
Beautiful manicured gardens. They take about an hour and half to walk around, well worth a visit.
Great hotel. We ran a work conference out here. Staff were excellent. Great location.
Although slightly pricey, the estate is captivating. One can spend hours walking around. Don't forget to eat BBQ chicken supreme in the terrace cafe.
The magnificent gardens on a glorious late Summer's day and the stunning setting and scenery surrounding a house
We were very underwhelmed by the gardens here and the entry fee we felt was too high. The powerscourt waterfall was a far better way to spend the day.
Great place for relaxing , the grounds are outstanding and it has a cafe, toilets, souvenirs and a adjoining garden centre.
Beautiful place with any weather. Nice coffee shop there
Hotel and staff wondedful.A real treat, highly recommend Hotel as a pre Christmas Treat.
Lovely gardens. The lake was emptied when we visited as they were clearing it out but still amazing grounds and colours. Very well kept.
One of the finest Landed Gentry Houses from the past. Owned by the Powerscourt (Wingfield's) Family in the Past. The Gardens are unbelievable as is their Garden Centre.
Spent a lot of time there in the past. Loved it! Could go on and on regarding my time there.
There is a Hotel on the Entry Drive on your left is worth a visit if one can afford it.
There are two of the finest Golf Cources in the Grounds, again on the Drive. If one is into Golf it is well worth a Round or two. Make certain to call and Book.
The beautiful aroma and amazing views and every area was so accessible, if you never enjoyed gardening or history you would change your mind after a visit to the house and gardens.
Amazing in size, vision and overall beauty but some of the gardens are need of weeding, trimming, edging and racking. They tout the National Geographic Award and believe they are not maintaining to that level of care at this time.
Amazing. Well worth the money. Try the waterfall too
for such a small place, it is worth going there to visit and look at flowers. If someone likes them
