If you are a lover of pancakes then this is a great place to eat at! The wait is a bit frustrating but once you sit at your table, order from the menu and get your plate you will be happy to have waited! The portions are way too big, but a perfect option if you're willing to share. So many great selections. Omelet, corn beef hash, pancakes...

What multilocation restaurant is cash or check only in 2019? If I drive out here and wait in an hour long line to eat, at least don't make it a chore for me to pay you. And $3.25 for a cup of coffee... Get out of here with that. Not coming back. It's just pancakes.

Always amazing, the practice of patients is required when there is little seating but well worth it. Always a great happy staff, never an empty coffee cup.

I love this place, it can be busy and they only except cash, but they have the best pancakes. I highly recommend the apple pancakes with a side of bacon. If you like a German pancake, that is pretty good too, although it is very sweet.

Best Buttermilk Pancakes I've ever had, no, really! Everything I've tried has been at least good... Little spendy though... but very close to worth it ;)

Delicious food and coffee. They now take debit / credit cards. Be prepared to wait atleast an hour to get seated. My staple go to is the Swedish crepes and sausage. I also had the Irish omelette. Yummy. Lots of food for the price.

I loved it!!!! The food is really good. And proportions are awesome too!! I highly recomend this place to have a nice family breakfast.

Last time I went here was with my Mom 20+yrs ago! NO JOKE! went just the other day and still the same as I remember! Food was excellent, service was top notch and potions sizes are still huge! Prices are a little high but I think it is worth it.!

There are not many Original anything still around, its all chain and pop ups! its nice to see that this place is going strong and sees no signs of going anywhere! hope to visit again in the near future as you should if you have not been yet!

Always get great pancakes @ the Original Pancake House including thick slices of bacon but, the scrambled eggs were a little loose

The best breakfast place I have ever experienced. In this modern day and age, when most people care more about convenience and speed than quality, it's refreshing to find a place that is still committed to the art of crafting delicious food. The chef here is genius. There is subtlety even in the simplest of dishes. Take the hash browns for example: made from scratch, cooked to perfection, well seasoned with a hint of citrus flavor, whereas most places you just get frozen potatoes cooked simply in oil and salt. This is not to mention the rest of the food, which is all delicious. I absolutely love breakfast food and have been to many breakfast places, none of which even begin to compare to this place.

The service here is always fabulous. We have had both Jo and Ciara as servers, and they are both absolutely on top of things. The people that work here really care about their jobs and their performance, and not only that, they care about the place they work and its reputation and performance. Most places you go nowadays, it's just a job for people. Not here! It's always fun chatting with these gals and sharing the joy of food with them. I wish I could rate this place 10 stars. A serious "well done" to a place that has managed to retain the joy of food, the art of subtlety in cooking, and the homey vibe of a small town restaurant.

Also, a side note: if you have been to another Original Pancake House, trust me when I say that it's a completely different experience than going to the original Portland location. I have been to a couple other locations, and apart from the fact that the menu is the same, it's like going to a completely different restaurant. Go try this place. You'll never want to eat breakfast anywhere else again! And to the people who have said the parking lot is crowded: that's a GOOD thing. No one wants to eat at a place where the parking lot is empty!

High quality breakfast food all around, but the real reason I go here is for the Dutch apple pancake. Quite possibly the best sweet breakfast item in the world. And if you manage to control yourself, you can definitely get two breakfasts out of it. Reheated it's still really good.

Huge menu selection, food is phenomenal with excellent service. If you haven't visited before, there is a short wait for tables due to small size of establishment and number of guests. Well worth the wait time.

This is home. I cannot find issue other than it's not free.

Fantastic food, good prices (combos are priced VERY reasonably, a la carte is priced pretty high). Green Chile omelette was very good and their pancakes are awesome

Have never had a bad experience - food is consistently excellent and service good.
Be prepared to wait 20 mins+ for a table and BRING CASH to pay your bill. Also portions are immense so order carefully - Irish omlette feeds my husband and me and we still bring home leftovers.

Huge omelettes, plus pancakes, awesome cup O' joe, with real cream with crema on top.. what could go wrong? Not enough room in the stomach for all the delicious food. Just remember to bring cash or a check.

well., we have this restaurant in Seoul, Korea. I wanted to visit real THE original pancake house as I had a chance to visit Portland. Not only the taste was good but also the vibe from the restaurant was amazing :).

So good, I can't drive by this place without stopping. First timers must try the Apple pancake. The sourdough pancakes are amazing, made with the original sourdough starter cerca 1951. The atmosphere is homey and welcoming. The service is quiet attentive and friendly. Bring cash or plan to use the on-site cash machine.

Breakfast heaven. We've been going here 25 years and I've never been disappointed in anything but wait times. Forgiveness for this comes with your first sip of coffee, served to you by a professional. Geez, just go. You'll see.

No place else sells 49er flapjacks like my German grandma used to make. I love this place.

Breakfasts are incredible. There is a huge meal that will fulfill every breakfast dream. Seating is listed, so be prepared to wait, especially on a weekend morning. Also, be aware they only accept cash, no credit cards, but there is an ATM in the waiting area.

I love Original Pancake House. Always have good quality food and service.

Pretty much anything with the tropical syrup is going to be delicious, but the Mandarin Crepes are my favorite.

Oh and it's cash only, so be sure to bring some with you!

The orange juice it's way too expensive and the eggs have no taste , simple food is way too over priced.

Been coming here since I was a kid with my mom and sisters and have always had the best service, experience, and food! I don't think I will ever not order the Swedish pancakes with tons of lingonberries and a hot chocolate! Absolutely love this place!

This is THE ORIGINAL, Original Pancake House. Their Apple Pancake is ... Hold on... You have the wrong image in your head. It is made in a pan, and definitely has apples, so it is easy to see why it's called an Apple Pancake, but this is not a flapjack with apple bits. This is hot cinnamon & brown sugar carmel, molten-apple goodness, in an almost custard-like "cake". Ever since I dared to order the Apple Pancake, I've never ordered anything else.

The only down side that I've encountered is that the building, being the original, didn't see ahead to the future success, and has limited parking, and limited seating (and the geography limits expansion). It can easily be an hour+ wait to get a table during a breakfast rush. Bring a good book, and enjoy this.

Always yummy and a good value. Try the lingonberry pancakes and bacon!! You'll find a very homey atmosphere and attentive wait staff. Arrive early. We love the clock and the real cups for coffee. A Portland must visit!!

Honestly not a huge fan of this place, plus they charged me $4 for a order of toast, it wasn't anything special, plain bread with butter.

Occasionally it takes us around the same block a few times other than that we get most places with this app

Long wait -well worth it. Soooo good. Had the Dutch baby and the pancakes were the best. The Irish omelette was HORRIBLE but it is a pancake house so we should have known to steer clear from not pancake items

Pancakes are totally awesome, omlettes a bit heavy/overstuffed for my taste. Reat thick cut bacon, fresh squeezed oj, excellent service. Very popular / busy and extremely loud - conversation can be difficult. $$$. Dont take plastic but atm available

The pancakes here are phenomenal. I've had great service when dining in... Not so much when ordering the take out as they got my order mixed up with another persons. The omelets here are decent, but their pancakes are delicious!

As with any brunch on a weekend, it gets really busy so get there early.

Absolutely delicious breakfast food. The apple pancakes are possitively divine and the dutch babies are excellent. Reasonably priced and large portion sizes. I would highly reccoment a visit to the Original Pancake House.

Wonderful coffee. The pancakes are really the best ive ever had. The omelette are amazing. Huge food portions you can share for a small fee. The cutest place and lovely people. It is a sugar butter feast but if you are alright with that ... this place is so fun!

The food and the staff are awesome. The only negative is the size of the restaurant which makes the wait time long. Still worth it!
