For my first time there and all the hype of this place, I was not impressed. I'll leave you with one thought, this place is the epitome of the majority of the U.S. Huge portions of relatively unhealthy and low quality food and fair prices.

Surprised to be seated immediately on a Sunday morning. Now I know why. Ordered corned beef hash with potato pancakes. Food was lukewarm. Had to ask for silverware, napkin and water. Ordered with sour cream, served with apple sauce. Poached eggs were watery. Waitress was more into in flirting with male customers. Don t waste your $$. Truly has gone down hill.

My husband and I had come here a couple years ago and didn't think much of it, so we decided to give it another chance. Food is good, but definitely not worth a 40 minute wait. Definitely order the pancakes if you come though, they are pretty good, but other than that the food is like any other place that serves breakfast. Staff is very lovely, and the place looks very clean.

This place is not for people with peanut and other food allergies like gluten. Please be aware! They cook everything with peanut oil and the gluten free dishes are only gluten friendly so they don't make sure it is safe for celiacs. The waitress was very slow in bringing us coffee and the cups for coffee were very small. I gave this 2 stars because the bacon was good and my husband somewhat liked the pancakes but otherwise we will not be coming back.

I think the only thing special here are the pancakes... hence the name. Omelettes and others are kinda pricy. Come here for the American breakfast experience. Usually long waits on weekend mornings. I had to wait for half an hour. No credit/debit card, cash only.

I love this place! Friendly staff, delicious pancakes, and all in a few wooden rooms that make you feel like your grandma lived in a classy log cabin and you're sitting at her kitchen table. Cash only, often long waits because it's so good.

We'd been to Pancake House, but not the original Original Pancake House, until this summer. Amazing! What I expected in food quality. Small place, so the wait can be long--worth it. Also noteworthy!!!! They only take cash, NO CREDIT CARDS. Is that worth taking away a star? No way.

Well done, pancake world.

Awesome sausages, eggs, pancakes and freshly squeezed OJ. I had to chew the pulp in the first couple of sips lol. The eggs were perfectly cooked, their proprietary sausage was great and the pancakes...well, it's called the original pancake house! They're very delicious!

First off, this place has charm. It hasn't changed since the 50's, down to the pink aprons for the waitresses.

So the downsides: Cash only. No soda. There's an ATM in the lobby, and they make a point to note that they receive none of the ATM fee. ($2-$3 per transaction).

The pros: This place has some of the best bacon I have ever tasted. There's delicious pancakes, quick service, and a charming ambiance. The pancakes are soft, fluffy, and a little sweet. Very tasty.

Go slow and savor the experience.

Had this originally on a business trip in Chicago. Was so happy to find they started in Portland. Service is awesome, they are busy but they get you in and out quickly. Food is awesome, check under 'Egg Specialties' for the 'combo plates'. They hid them! Lol.

I don't make it out here often due to the limited hours, but when I do it's always a treat. Be prepared for a wait, bring cash (no cards, but they have an ATM), and be advised that the parking lot is awkward, but it's all worth it for what are hands-down the best pancakes around! I highly recommend the Apple Pancake.

This place is amazing. I've never seen such an impressive variety of pancakes, waffles, and crepes of all sorts of interesting varieties on a menu before. I couldn't decide between the pumpkin pancakes and the corncakes, and ended up with the latter after getting an enthusiastic recommendation from the friendly waitress. There was about a 10-minute wait for a table at 10am on a Wednesday, but it was well worth the wait.

Bear in mind that is place diws not accept credit cards (strangely), so make sure you have cash.

Worst experience ever... even the kids said " I don't want to come here ever again the food was yucky" the waitress was so rushed she wasn't listening to how we were ordering and kept trying to make us order it different, she said it was the 'best way' to order it... it ended up being the same thing I was saying for double the price!!! The pancakes were burned and the omelet so undercooked it made me sick, the hasbrowns were raw and we got charged for them ($7) as a side even though they were supposed to be a substitute (no charge) After waiting a very long time to even get in for a table and then waiting another 20 minutes for someone to come take a drink order... 20 more minutes and they bring us someone else's order put in on our table then say oops pick it up and take it to the right table even though the kids already touched the food (ewwww). What a waste of time and $80... way over priced for poor quality everything!!!

Old school charm meets modern-day foodie sensibilities in charming and traditional diner setting. Friendly and helpful staff flit about the busy restaurant like bees in a hive. Anything you order on the menu will be in contention for the best version of that item in Portland. They only focus on a few types of food, but they do them at a superlative level. Expect to wait on the weekends, but take heart in their newly adopted debit card acceptance system. Remember to tip your wait staff!

Even if you're going to be the youngest person at this establishment, it's worth the trip. Few other diners compare. Unfortunately the appeal to the "good ole days" runs thick and the space is loud and cramped during most hours. That being said, credit for service rarely suffering despite being full to the brim.

another GREAT breakfast!! this is the ONLY place i can justify spending $75.00 (including tip) for a meal (for 2 adults & 3 kids) & not feel like i've been ripped off. the service is FANTASTIC! the food is mouth watering! we're on public transit & live in wilsonville...it takes us almost 2 hrs to get there & it's the only place my kids will get up at 5am for! yum yum YUM!!! the ONLY bad thing i can say about them is that they don't have a changing station in the bathroom...but they're totally ok with you borrowing their bench :-)

The wait wad long. The food was great. Very crowded and loud. When finished we were unexpectidly asked to leave! I have never experienced such gaul before especially after paying $100 with tip.
I think this was money grubbing rude.

Pretty neat little (and I do mean little) breakfast spot. They make up for it with their portion sizes. My omelette was the size of a football. Bring your patience with you if you visit this one, small parking lot, loud dining room, long wait time, cash ONLY.

Always packed and close quarters inside. The German Pancakes and Swedish Pancakes are the best around and the coffee is great. Fun atmosphere and friendly service. Pretty expensive for the experience of crowded dining. Good place to people watch though!
