Been going here for over 37 years. Still delicious. Clean. Less expensive than many Portland restaurant s. Big portions. Delicious pancakes. Great coffee. The downside is that the calories are listed on the menu.

This is the original Original Pancake House restaurant, and it lives up to that reputation admirably. Receiver of numerous awards, this is the penultimate American breakfast restaurant, period. Great gluten-free options and very generous portions. Worth the money.

Got the sourdough pancakes and they were downright bitter. Almost like the batter had gone bad . Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. I have been there before years ago and it was wonderful.

It lives up to its fine reputation. Everything perfect. No heavy, greasy spoon breakfast pancakes at all. Real maple syrup, yummy sausage links. Perfectly cooked eggs. Place is clean as a whistle. Service excellent. And most impressive is best Decaf I've had anywhere.

Excellent food, good service!. This place is extremely busy so expect a wait. They are also cash or check only, which is weird. There is an atm on site though. Large quantities, very fresh and well made food, free refills on fresh squeezed orange juice, etc. What's not to like! Not as handicap accessible as it could be. Plenty of waiting room in the front entrance though. Very loud so not necessarily a good place for conversation. Syrups were excellent. I had the seasonal strawberry waffle, and would order again in a heartbeat.

I'll say the most important thing first: they don'...

I'll say the most important thing first: they don't take any electronic payments, so bring cash. Odd how every food truck and fair vendor stall takes credit cards, but this brick and mortar doesn't.

I went here on a whim on a day off during the week. Had to wait about fifteen minutes for a non-shared table (they have a small community table that is open seating), but that's the norm for most good places, so no big deal. The tables are quite close together, so navigating a full room can be interesting, and the close seating means room noise can get a little high.

After trying to find a simple breakfast (some combo of meat, eggs, hash browns, toast, and pancakes) on the menu, I consulted my polite and friendly server. She said the meals in a certain column came with a small order of pancakes, even though that wasn't listed anywhere I could see. This is also the point I found out they only take cash, which I very rarely carry.

The food was good, but nothing exceptional. The sausage was quite tasty, the scrambled eggs were a little runny, and the pancakes were surprisingly middling for a place with "pancake" in its name. Their simple breakfast combos don't include hash browns, which is weird. I didn't have coffee because if I'm going to drop $3+ on that, it'll be an espresso drink at a coffee shop as opposed to drip at a restaurant.

My combo (four sausage links, two scrambled eggs, three small pancakes) came to $12.50 pre-tip, plus $3.95 in fees ($1.95 immediate, $2.00 back end) for using the ATM out front. A full stack of pancakes is at least $10.25 with no sides (which are very pricey; $7+ for bacon or sausage). Even without the ATM fees, it is overpriced.

Taken as a whole (food quality, ambiance, value), I'd take IHOP or Village Inn over this place, and with the number of breakfast spots in Portland that serve better food for less money (most locally-owned), I don't see myself coming back.

The portions are insane. My first time here and I ordered the vegetarian omelette. It must have been made with six eggs and it came with a side of pancakes. I could only eat half and it filled me up until the next day. No joke. Not a place for skinny people to eat if you know what I mean. Great food and great service. My seven year old was in pancake heaven. Good coffee too

Come here if you have a few mins to wait, haven't eaten in 2 days, OR, you could just come here for one of the best original breakfasts in Portland. Everything I tried here was amazing and unique. Nothing is like you'd expect. In a good way. Eat here. Thank me. Live, laugh, and love.

The OG Original Pancake House doesn't disappoint! It seems like this place is always super busy, but also the wait for a table is always super short since they keep everyone moving through pretty quickly. And the pancakes are top-notch. A must-visit restaurant in Portland.

You can order any of their specialty pancakes gluten friendly, which was a very delightful surprise! Literally the best pancakes I've ever eaten in my life, and the toppings were delicious and fresh tasting. After one visit, it has become one of my most favorite places to eat in the area!

Classic breakfast/diner vibe, very delicious coffee (perfect hangover cure), and yummy pancakes. This place is CASH ONLY though, so bring cash or your debit card for the ATM on-site. Building is pretty small so you usually end up waiting for a seat, but well worth it in my opinion.

Food ok, nothing spectacular. Server was horrible. We should have tipped the host. If you get the skinny, blonde-haired, matronly server ask for someone else. Her skills are severely lacking. You've been warned.

Great service and food! I love the homey environment here and the friendly service. Portions are large (I normally take almost half home) and the menu is diverse. As the name suggests, their primary fair is pancakes and they have more than 30 different fluffy cakes on offer including crepes, swedish and American varieties. Not to mention large omelets, scrambles, eggs with Ham steak or bacon and other savory options if that's you preference. This is my grandson's favorite breakfast stop and his first choice anytime I'm taking him out.
