What the heck is wrong with Portland businesses? This one doesn't accept any other payment than cash or check and all entrances that we could see had stairs. Even the one by the handicap parking! A different business I went to, didn't allow different people at the same table to order what they wanted (see my review for New Delhi in Portland, Oregon). I now appreciate my hippy town of Eugene because even though it's hippieville, the businesses are mainstream and customer friendly!

Quality ingredients and special meals that are far above the norm. Even the butter is better
The mushroom omelet is fantastic and the German pancake requires a hearty appetite to finish as well.
Service is first class; not a lot of turnover with the staff.
They close at 3 pm, usually a long line early in the morning and cash only.

The food is amazing. They have all the pancakes. My favorite are the Georgian Pecan. And the wait staff is so friendly and attentive.
My only complaint is that they don't accept cards so you have to pay by checknor cash. On the plus side they have their own ATM in the resturant.

Here is my reason behind 1 Star. First off, only 1 star works here, and he was cooking AND bussing tables! He got all of our $15 tip. The waitstaff were confused children. More for show than anything else. The food was sub par at best. And CASH ONLY?!? With a receipt that did not itemize?!?!?! Crooks. Never going here again.

Cute little place. Food was very good. The host has to give you a number in order to be seated. There is not a large sign displaying this, so you might be waiting awhile not knowing and then have to get a number to then wait even longer.

The ambiance, food and service were good. It has an old-fashioned feel to it, from the decor to the uniforms to the fact that they only accept cash and checks. The prices are anything but old-fashioned, though. If you want to pay 2017 prices for a 1967 experience, this is the place to go.

Small dining room/ small tables. The price for the food is way to high. $18.50 for pancakes & hash browns. No soda. Only water/milk. And milk is $4 a cup. Food was good but for almost $20 no thanks. And it's cash only.

One of the over hyped brunch spots. Lines are long and they do not accept cash. Also, the place runs really busy the service isnt that great.

The food was on par and expensive, nothing special about it. I would not recommend this place.

I've been going here for 30 years. Great, traditional American breakfast food along with a great staff make it a must visit for Oregonians and visitors! Apple pancake and the Dutch baby are my favorites.

I haven't been here for 16 + years but it hasn't changed at all! Still a long wait, still worth it. I remember coming here as a child with my parents and complaining to my Dad about how long it took and his answer was always, "It builds character."
I brought my husband for his first time and we had the pleasure of sitting at the Community Table with a gentleman who has been coming for 50 years. What a character (obviously Dad knew what he was talking about)!
My husband ordered the Irish Omelette (think corned beef hash with eggs and cheese) and I got the Georgia Pecan Waffle (toasted pecans on waffles with tropical syrup) with bacon on the side (4 large slabs of thick cut) and we both had the fresh squeezed orange juice (truly fresh squeezed with pulp).
Truly, a delicious experience!
I highly recommend the following:
Apple Pancake (more like a whole apple pie)
Spanish Omelette
Dutch Baby (a unique experience)
Fresh Strawberry Waffle/Pancake (in season)

Be sure to bring cash, no cards accepted (they have atm in the waiting area that charges 1.95) and a large appetite!

Amazing food, awesome service, very "original". There is frequently a line but so worth the wait. I suggest the Dutch Baby or 49er Pancakes. They use homemade butter, homemade whip cream and everything tastes wonderful

Love this place but last time I was here my coffee went unrefreshed even though I was there over an hour and the rush slowed. Plates also went unbussed. They are one of the few places that still employs bus boys, so don't get it. Not a place to go if you plan on having a conversation at the weekend, acoustics not good for that and for some reason parents no longer take their screeching children outside to calm down. I don't get that, but not on the restaurant. The food is always delicious, without fail they maintain standard year after year.

Be warned! Cash only!!! Omelettes are not very good. Everything is overpriced with no sides (referring more to the pancakes). Tiny coffee cups which are free refills but inconvenient. Overcrowded meaning loud and cramped. Honestly, it's a pass. Although the butter is the MVP and makes the pancakes tasty.

Having never been - we were taken aback by the High prices. But - apparently the thing to do is wait until you see orders walk by, because as the price goes up - portion goes up exponentially!! I could only eat half of what I had ordered, but wished I'd ordered an omelette, after I saw some go by. Be prepared to have an entire 2nd meal's worth of leftovers, unless you are unhealthily hungry!! Great staff, good time, great food, lots of leftovers.
