By far the closest to the San Diego Zoo I have bee...
By far the closest to the San Diego Zoo I have been to. The atmosphere is wonderful. Have been twice and the animals are always to be found.

Tourist trap vibes. They literally hide water from you.
Even under construction this place is wonderfull .will visit again .
This place is terrific. Lots to see especially for kids. Was disappointed that the tigers and leopards weren't available to see, Other than that worth the 3 hours l spent there!
We LOVE the Oregon Zoo, with little ones we cant stay away and found the Patron level membership well worth the money for the ability to bring the whole family and guests.
Came here years ago on visit from Sactamento. The changes and the expansion of the Elephant area is awesome so much more room fiir them. Can't wait to come back and see the new Rhino exhibit.
Don't miss out make sure and buy there annual pass! So worth it! And the Rose garden is not far away!
Very nice. Children in buses are often there, but that's not the zoo's fault. I especially enjoy going on Monday or Wednesday, as the location isn't as packed then.
Still doin construction but it'll be worth the wait I hope
I've always like to come to this zoo. But this time we came I feel like alot pf the exhibits I wanted to see were closed or being rebuilt. But that's okay I still had lot of fun.
Fabulous, well-laid-out zoo with a great assortment of animals to see.
Has animals. Has quite a bit of enclosures closed had few disappointed kids who didn't get to see the their favorite animals. But the small train ride helped was looking forward to the train ride to the rose gardens but they don't go there anymore.
I love this zoo, unfortunately there are a lot of exhibits under construction but all for the better future.
I love the zoo, but a fair few of my favorite areas were closed due to COVID. (Penguins, polar bears and bats, to name a few.) But still lots of fun!
Most of the animals were not in view, it has lots of construction going on. Super expensive!! And renting wheel chairs and strollers is really expensive too!!!
Not bad, but where are the more exotic animals? I don't want to see animals that I can see just by going outside of my door.
Had family in town, and although we got there a little to late for close parking, the shuttle service from the adjacent parking area was quick and courteous. The entrance line to get in went fast and the park visit over all was fun! I really got an laugh out if the signage they had posted for areas under construction. Good times and all the animals were out and about.
This zoo is so mean to their animals. One time when I went there I saw one of the wild cats pacing back and forth in its cage and it looked miserable. I also think that it should get rid of its elephant program. They should tell the public why they killed Packy.
It's a pretty large zoo with a lot of variety in animals. The scenery is beautiful and the bathrooms are clean. Parking is abysmal. I wouldn't bother trying to park in the lot. Instead, go directly to overflow and take the bus over. Overall, an enjoyable place to visit.
There is a lot of construction but the zoo is great and has a nice layout for walking. The staff is very friendly and the docents love to talk about the animals. The big cats are especially great to see. If you have kids and it is a nice day this is an excellent way to spend time in Portland and the accessibility by MAX makes it even more enjoyable.
It was good. We went on field trip day so it was pretty crowded but, a lot of neat exhibits.
I really hope the high entry cost goes to animal Care. The value is pretty low as it is a small zoo.
Have the park was closed down but still had a great time
Great Zoo experience. The elephants exhibit is unrivaled by any other Zoo due to recent renovations.
Went to Zoo Lights on 12/27 and it was packed. Be ready to park in overflow parking. There were a good number of shuttle buses that you didn't have to wait very long. I recommend buying tickets online before going. You can skip the ticket line this way.
I love this zoo, especially the black bears in the PNW section. We lucked out with our timing and got to see the animals in the daytime and take the first zoo lights train in the late afternoon.
The first time I went to portland I came here and it was magic. Now I would go for a summer concert ! but the penguins looked sorta sad.
There was work going on but it we'd still fun for a 2 year old
Literally every exhibit was open, except the polar bear, one of the best times I've ever been to the zoo, and I haven't been since 12 years old!
Definitely crowded (expected on a saturday) animals were very active! And staff did very well handling a child that got separated from his mom! He was so scared but they did very good at calming him down until they found her and reunited them!
Looks great online, one of my goals in life is to visit this place
Not bad, still doing a lot of upgrades to the habitats. Over priced for photos if you choose that option. Also, the zoo train is lack luster for the information divulged during the 6 minute trip.
These heartless, worthless, pathetic scum balls who call themselves humans are the lowest form of life possible on this earth. We all need to come together on this and file a law suit against this horrible zoo. DO NOT go to this hell hole, do not endorse it, demand from your representatives, councilmen, councilwomen, state senators, etc. demand that this place be shut down and the people responsible for killing this elephant be held responsible and put in prison.
Lot of exhibits under construction right now, I'd come back in late 2020
So much fun! I wish the shortcuts we're listed on the map, though. I have a hard time getting through and never know when I should turn back.
A very nice, well kept zoo. I liked viewing the lion family and elephants. Some of the animals are here because they are injured and cannot survive in the wild, like the bald eagle which was blind in one eye. The people are very friendly and polite. I noticed a lot of exhibits were closed, but that's because it's off season and they are remodeling. There weren't many food options open, do bring a snack or two. The lines for elephant ears are extremely long, and for what? A piece of bread with sugar. Parking is limited, but we walked from the gardens to get to the zoo. It was just a good day to get out of the house and walk around.
A fun place to see the animals, lots of cool things and events to see. A must if your going through or visiting Portland.
It was good but could really use some hands on u couldnt even pet the goats
Their was lots of animals and new things being built for each animal
Good times to be had by all. Best part is when they gather all the street animals up to feed to the lions and Tigers the kids just get So excited. They also accept old people and children at the front gate as food donations.
It was very disappointing. They were doing a lot of construction. We went early so we could see the animals to. We didn't see very many.
Zoo lights is always awesome! Great renovations. So many animals. Always a great time. Elephant ears are very deliciousness but during zoo lights they have elf ears which is elephant ears with cream and spinkles on top. Yummy :)
It's a cute zoo with an amazing Elephant habitat. Unfortunately the elephants were stuck inside so we didn't get to see them enjoying the outside habitat until they were finally let out to eat. Then it immediately started raining so we had to take cover. I only gave it three stars because several of the habitats, stores and restaurants were closed when we went. The petting zoo wasn't allowing petting of the animals. There wasn't very many if any interactive activities for the children. Plus there were several schools on their field trips. Many of the children were out of control, screaming at ear drum rupturing levels, climbing, hitting and pushing, which made many of the areas not enjoyable. We didn't feel it was worth the $60. We had to remind ourselves that the money was going to a good cause.
Too many sections shut down to get a full appreciation for the zoo.
Under construction but very neat place for kids and family. Cant wait until all the work is complete.
Fun place to go with the family. Make sure to bring some food and water.
It was a great experience. The animals were so fun to watch, and there was animal activity for most of the animals at points of the day.
A little bit expensive but great place for a family day trip..
We loved the Zoo so much we bought a membership! The Elephant habitats and feedings alone are worth it.
Best zoo visit! Clean, fun, great attractions and the verde Cocina has amazing food!!!!
So much of the zoo is shut down for construction. The fee to get in just isn t worth it for all the exhibits that they are currently missing.
It's a wonderful place to hangout with kids and family. The zoo is well kept and the grounds are pleasant enough..it would be nicer if they would consider more family oriented areas like a water spray park or a picnic area to hangout and grab a picnic bite. We bought the train tickets but I would say skip it. It's not a tour of the animals at all instead it's just through some forested area. The recorded audio was also hard to understand. It's really not worth the $ for short 8-10 mins ride...
Don't bother. A lot of the exhibits were closed. my son who is in a wheelchair couldn't see anything. Very few animals and most you couldn't see either. Way too expensive for the limited experience.
Really efficiently laid out zoo; less walking and more animals!
Events throughout the day, decently priced good and snacks. Discount for using public transit to get there.
There is also a free bus route that takes you throughout Washington Park.
A worthwhile stop whole visiting Portland
Great Zoo! We visited from Seattle and i think portland zoo has us beat. The elephants were amazing to see.
It's a cool place to go, but they have a lot of construction going on. Also for having to pay to get in they charge for additional attractions inside the zoo.
Big. Have good walking shoes. Could have better map of ground.
Very nice place to visit. I suggest going in the morning when it opens for a decent parking spot and fewer crowds. It's generally always a busy place to go though. Take the max to save some money on your entrance tickets. Fun events are planned out so you can see the animals at their best. We saw the big cat care this time with the lions. It was very cool! We've never seen lions so up close before.
Love except the primates don't seem to have enough space.
My favorite zoo. Worked here many years ago when I was 17 or so. Amazing local attraction.
Fun for the kids and I could have been better if there were more animals to see but lots of the enclosures were being worked on. Maybe next time there will be more to see! We will be back!
Too spendy and not much to see or go. Under alot of construction didn't get to see not even half the zoo. The train ride was the biggest let down. I loved getting out with the family but the whole experience sucked .
Lots of animals and greenery. It's usually kept clean and the elephant ears are delicious!
Great place to go with friends and family. Lots of different kinds of animals to see.
Fun zoo! Once construction is done, it will be even better.
Went in the winter with all the lights with my daughter. She loved it. I rate on my experience. It's only 4 stars due to there being so many people and hard to move around.
Though a lot of the Oregon Zoo is currently closed of for construction, its still a really cool place to be. I've visited it many times now, but it never feels boring to go back again. The annual Zoo Lights trip adds to the overall experience, and its cool to see the zoo in a new way.
The new elephant house alone is well worth the price of admission.
Even though the train ride is short my toddler loved it! Well worth the price. A lot of interactive activities.
