Great small venue for watching a concert. If sitting on the grass, bring a sand chair. You will be more comfortable. Lots of security roaming around. Good food cart selection in the ampitheater including a gluten free mexican food place and dessert options. Beer and wine available.

Absolutely love this zoo. It s just the right size for an afternoon and doesn t feel overwhelming. The animals are interested and very active. They have very nice enclosures that are spacious but allow for ample viewing spaces. Especially enjoyed viewing the otters on our last visit as they were gambling around.

For the 8th year in a row, the Oregon Zoo has been named one of the Top Ten Worst Zoos for Elephants due to "premature deaths, inhumane breeding methods, and many violations of the Animal Welfare Act" (quoting from NW Examiner, February 2018 issue).

The Oregon Zoo abuses elephants and still uses bullhooks. They do not deserve your support.

A lot is closed/under construction which makes their change removing the dual guest membership pass a bit silly. They didn't bother to tell me during renewal either and only found out after paying and trying to visit. They promised it would show up as two guests when I show up next time but I have a feeling Im going to end up arguing with them. The people at the guest services had no clue what to do.

Wont be renewing again unless the two guest pass comes back.

The new 2 year old sister tigers are impressively beautiful in a exotic way, such grace and power.
The bald eagles were enchanting and easy to photograph. The lemurs were entertaining and fluffy. The parking lot is expensive, thanks Portland. The food is high priced, just like every tourist trap, and was cold burger that sat in a warming tray too long, you have to put the condiments on yourself. Many grills and coffee shops were closed? The zoo overall is expensive, but worth it. I miss the hippopotamus, but understand that rhinos are more popular now.

It was good enough even though many atraction will be open untill 2020.
It was hard to find a parking space, We get there at 11 am and had to drive around the parking lot for 30 min. Before finding an empty spot.

The zoo has only gotten better and better over the years! The music at the bird shows is current, the animals seem happier and their enclosures are bigger. The grounds have really been stepped up with bigger natural plants. Whoever is running the show now deserves some kudos!

Pay the parking meter or get a fat ticket so you can't go anymore. $44 to start. And you can't pay online because the pay service won't find your citation number. I was 12 minutes late and got the ticket. Whoops

Still under major Construction in the center but definitely still fun to visit. Right after they open they let the Bears out so we immediately got an up-close view of them on the bridge as they exited their little dens. The paths are easy, we saw a lot of animals very close to the glass windows even though they have plenty of room to hide away from them, and there are bathrooms everywhere. An enjoyable experience for the whole family.

Not a lot of play space for the animals. Selection is limited, probably due to our climate. The amphitheater is a great place to see concerts, but bring your own beverages and food. Very cheap wine (2 buck chuck caliber) is sold for 7/cup or 20ish/bottle.

This is a good, mid-sized zoo. They have a variety of animals, all in well-kept pens. Signage and maps were less than perfect and we found the zoo a bit confusing. They are doing some major construction and several areas are closed. Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle is a better zoo, but this is worth a visit and I will be happy to return when they are done with the construction.

In town on the last minute trip and decided it would be a great time to take our son to the zoo for his first time. He absolutely loved it.
Parking was a bit hard. We had to take the train but we had didn't know it was the free day which explains all the extra people and cars. Even with the slight detour it didn't take long at all. Not to mention our son loved the train ride as well.
It has a great layout looping around the entire place so you aren't having to double back. Which is nice when you have a toddler.

If you're going to be in town it is definitely worth the stop.

Wonderful little zoo with a beautiful elephant enclosure and learning area. New exhibits and habits coming online soon. Take in a concert at the zoo! You can't beat the atmosphere and venue and there are a variety of local food carts to choose from. A favorite summer activity!

I went here many times. The elephant ears are really good, the elephants are
so adorable! I also love how they have names for some of the animals and we can read about them. ;) I really love it!

First time here and it was awesome! I thoroughly enjoyed myself here with my GF and we got to see everything we came for. I had a Slytherin moment with my Python buddies. It was so cool!

It was nice to get back to the zoo, and this rating is because if the lack of staff to keep people from taking off there masks. There were several occasions where people would not have a mask on and walk almost within inches of others. There was very limited enforcement, and none at choke points. It is ashame that given tge access to animals, we had to cut our trip short.

Very nice, I enjoyed it. Some the exhibits were shut down or under construction. That wasn't as enjoyable. Bathrooms smelled of urine. Lots of people with strollers but not really stroller friendly. Could use a bit more seating and shade too. More misting fountains. But over all, my family and I had fun.

Our recent visit to the Zoo was a pleasant Covid-altered walk about experience. Staff was nice, it was good to get out of the house during Covid, but I will be glad when all the construction is done. There wasn t much to look at, a lot of walking for those of us with disabilities (grandson in a spica cast) and honestly the Wildlife Safari was a better Covid outing. They had paw prints to mark 6 feet and way to go. I posted photos of all animals we saw. I did not change the number of stars because I felt they were at a 5 star level - the Zoo is open and doing the best they can - during Covid. Take water and snacks. Very expensive and remote ordering only - with lines.

It was a great experience. Paid parking lot with a lot of space. Helpful customer service staff, friendly staff all around the property and lots to animals to see in there natural habitats. Given an opportunity, go visit... giraffes, chetahs, snakes, tigers, seals, bears and many more....

Our Portland Zoo is the best zoo. Ever. The animals are active and clearly happy, keepers are friendly and they offer concerts and events that cater to people with or without kids. Zoo lights at Christmas time are a must see!

It was a nice visit, and the zoo employees were super friendly. It was sad seeing the climbing statues roped off and the stage area empty. It just didn't feel the same with no kids playing in the sand area or the petting zoo. I'll be glad when we can have the full use of the zoo again. Most of the food vendors were closed, but we could still get elephant ears and Dippin dots. The construction is still going, but the exhibits are starting to take shape.

Had an amazing time with my family and friends. (Fun tip) if you are on W.I.C or Food Stamps, Foster home or some type of Gov assistance and can provide proof you +5 others enter for $5 a person.

My daughter and her 2 young children and I went to zoo lights. We got there early about 4 o'clock so that we could beat the crowd and the see some of the animals. I had not been to the zoo for a while and saw some new exhibits being built. It was 2 days after elephant Lily had died so that was sad. I think that parking at the zoo is unfair. But I always enjoy going and seeing the animals. I am excited about the new exhibits.

There is a lot of vehicle break-ins here. There needs to be more security measures in place otherwise it is a very expensive trip. My car was broken into and so was my brother in law's and he was in a different parking lot.

The animals that were actually out were cool BUT there were 3 exhibits closed to construction and at least 10 exhibits closed for unknown reasons. And all of the restaurants were closed except for a little ice cream shop. The elephants looked miserable and the giraffe was inside a small closet eating and staring at a wall. Thanks for charging us full price for your chamber of misfit animals

There's a lot of construction going on right now, which is challenging but will be great eventually for the animals. The AfriCafe was out of salads and I had to order fast food, which I do like. The new insect area is beautiful. We had a great day today.
