Way to over priced. Horrible coffee. Great food at the lower cafe though. Every time I go here there are almost no animals to be seen.

Under construction at the time, not too expensive and lots of informative exhibits
Pretty expensive to get in and most zoos are honestly pretty sad. A lot of the animals weren't out and I felt really bad for the Orangutans, they looked sad. My daughter had fun but also felt bad for the Orangutans. Also having to pay for parking is ridiculous since you're already paying to be there.
Beautiful grounds, creatures, exhibits and x-mas lights but way too many empty exhibits for full price
This is a great zoo, but it feels busy all the time. There are a lot of dead ends, so stuff can get a little jammed up. And as with any big zoo, things are going to be closed for remodel.
Great place for families, and for education about the environment and animal species. New exhibits look exciting!
Great Zoo. Animals are obviously taken care of, and everything is well maintained. There are regular presentations and booths throughout for kids or curious minds.
They oversell their concerts. It's ridiculous. And the area that is "accessible" for people with disabilities isn't very accessible.... I won't be back.
Most exhibits under construction. Not much to look at and so crowded any way!
This zoo is a win from top to bottom. Wonderful animals, clean, great layout, and easy to walk around. The landscape is an inspiration and the natural beauty of Oregon is all around you. No concrete jungles here. The zoo deserves credit for bringing the outdoors alive and retaining the best of the lush northwest.
The walking paths are a little convoluted but they keep adding new exhibits. Overall, great experience.
We saw almost all aninals in the zoo. It was a very good day and We enjoyed it there.
Great attraction and better after the covid-19 social distance passes....
Nice walk to see everything. There should be a polar bear, rhino, and orangutan exhibit up soon (under construction). I suggest going in the morning, the earlier the better, the animals are more active while it is cool.
Fun way to spend a day. Exhibits opening in 2020, I'll definitely be back.
Loved it. Always plan ahead when it comes to parking..
Lots of construction right now (making things better), but still a wonderful place to spend the day with kids.
I've been going here since I was a kid and now I bring my child. Its always fun and I love the new elephant area. My only complaint is the parking lot. Its shared with the childrens museum so trying to find a good spot is rarw unless you follow somone about to leave. Best time to go is right when it opens or a few hours before it closes, on a weekday.
We attended the Weird Al Yankovic concert this last Sunday. It was cold and damp and wasn't going to be a very pleasant experience. My wife's foot was in a cast, and a zoo worker noticed that and asked if we'd like to be moved down into the "ADA" area. We accepted, and they took us down, found us a couple of chairs, and we had a terrific concert. Then when it was over, they helped us get to the area to catch a little shuttle car back up the hill. Very nice people, and we couldn't have been happier. Many kudos!!
This review is for the zoo concerts only. They are awesome!!! Great seating, and they always have a really good selection of food and drink. I love coming here for the music!
Great little zoo. Easy to walk and visit with a great collection of wild things.
Zoo lights at the the Oregon Zoo is a fabulous experience. Highly recommend spending time here.
Simply beautiful the spectacular decoration and the route is great .It the children will enjoy very much
Thought we were in 5 o'clock traffic all day. No real flow through the place. I think I saw the giraffes, a condor and not much else there was active.
I would recommend going through a national geographic before wasting your money here.
Love it perfect place to bring the kids and you get a discount if you ride trimet and show your ticket good prices good food amazing things to see here!
Parking was 8.00$ For the whole day or 2 a hour.
You can download parkingkitten to pay for it if you don't have a card or change(they do make you pay with quaters). There was a lot people. The walk ways are pretty narrow. There were 3 different play spots for kids. I got a beer for 8.00 and wine was 9.00. Food was pricey but they had alot of stands.
They had water stations and misting stations.
A soda was between 6.50 to 8.00 and you could refill for free at the Africa Cafe.
It was lovely.
They also had a train and carousel. You have to pay for these.
Took my family and my youngest son's best friend for a fun day before she moved. We all had tons of fun, sad to drop her off at her new house after our fun day together.
I felt like I was going to have a lot more fun then I actually did. The displays were somewhat disturbing. Seeing the elephant trapped. Especially the eagles. It made me sad. Idk if they were born in captivity or not and that matters....but if you allow the ticket person too see your ebt food card enterance is only 5 bucks.
Very difficult to find parking, but the actual zoo was beautiful
The Oregon Zoo is amazing. They have plenty of knowledgeable staff that make day to day operations run smoothly. There are currently a few exhibits closed down due to renovation, but it's still a fun place. Lots of educational things for kiddos and adults alike. There are plenty of food options and snack options available. They offer a few play areas for kiddos to play whilst the parent sits and relaxes and maybe drinking cool water or taking advantage of a beer or margarita offering. Parking is $8 for all day. I would say that currently the train isn't the most exciting, it only goes down by the elephants and back, something like 6 minutes of train. They now charge to get in and pet the goats where previously it was free on the way to Africa if memory serves. Goats was en encounter option they offer along with a few others. Overall great experience, everything is up front so there are no surprises. You can bring your own lunch in. They have water stations throughout the zoo so that you can fill up at no cost. They also offer stroller rentals, although they're quite wide and I've seen people have issues maneuvering them through certain areas. If you're seeking to buy a membership, DO IT! It's totally worth it and Zoo Lightd are part of the package.
Lot of animals on display but a good portion of the park had construction and renovations occurring while we were there
too many constructions for me personally during 2019
Amazing zoo, built into the mountain so it doesn't feel like you are in zoo.
Dont bother until 2020.half of the exhibits are closed
The Oregon Zoo is awesome and getting better every day!
It's beautiful but it's hard to see some of the animals because they are under construction specially the elephants other than that it's a great place to take your family.
Always a fun time love taking our kids to see what might be new. Wish it was a little cheaper.
I really love this place I'm definitely going again when is not to hot. The lion show they have, the bird show, and elephants are all great. And the food there, oh my goodness is the best.
Excellent zoo with good natural environments, not cages. Adding new and interesting exhibits in the near future. Good for both children and adults of all ages.
i wish theres a better way to get around all the construction
Beautiful zoo, friendly staff, good selection of animals, reasonable prices.
Awesome zoo, rents strollers, the cafeteria has odd hours so eat before you go or pack snacks. You can bring your cameras
Making the Zoo a completely ONE WAY path due to Covid is a very smart choice. However there was still a few bottlenecks in caves that make social distancing impossible. Still it was awesome to watch the elephant caretakers feeding the elephant!
I didn't like the way the old lady told me in bad way she Should ask nice do you have your Tickets not Yelling at me that hurt my feelings and I was with my family
Great attractions. Gift shop was decently priced. Rentable strollers was so handy.
Wonderful exhibits. Construction is going on, but it is inspiring to see what will come into the zoo next!
A place where babies are born in cages and the animals will never be free
Fantastic zoo (and hike too.) Can't wait for the construction to be complete.
Zoo Lights is a very cool event.. if its not too cold
The new elephant area is great! Lots of area for them to roam and do things. There are several exhibits that are closed due to construction of new exhibits so it will be really nice when it's all completed in 2020. It seems that the amount of animals per exhibit have gone down. It would be nice if the tigers had things to be more active
This is a great location and while I was visiting for a limited your of the park, I look forward to returning for the full experience.
Dont go to a ziggy marley concert. Never seen anyone on stage til 2 hrs after it was scheduled ro start. Horrible seating. Ushers didnt know up from down and the lines are horrendous
Zoo is a great place to walk around with the family. Get a zoo membership so you don't have to fight the people who don't plan ahead. If you can't spend that kind of money the buy the tickets ahead of time online! Zoo lights is awesome but plan ahead! People who aren't members find themselves standing in line for almost an hour! You have to remember that this pretty much the only zoo that serves the entire Pacific Northwest so it is ALWAYS crowded! Plan ahead take food and get a membership (and a couple zoo keys if your kids are young).
Great place to take kids. Easy to navigate with a stroller, petting zoo and good (but not overwhelming) variety of animals. I enjoyed seeing the bald eagles and giraffes the best.
Great zoo built throughout the natural environment. Makes a great walk even if there wasn't animals. Very clean lots of animals to see. You can easily spend the whole day. Their food options are good and reasonably priced for location.
Always love the zoo, lots of things closed last Tuesday however, even some of the food carts and shopping places not just new exhibits but still a wonderful zoo
Meh...Most animals must have been on a cigarette break. WAY too much construction.
Love this place! Finally got the chance to go. Really great parking, relatively good priced too, you can also pay with an app.
You can order and print tickets ahead of time! Kids under 2 get in for free, so just had to pay for Wife and I to go, and our kiddos got in free.
Its certainly not a huge zoo, but has a good variety of everything. It's also right next to the Rose Garden!
The Oregon zoo is awesome. They have built the zoo surrounded by trees and a forest. The exhibits are really large and that's awesome since the animals can feel like where they came from the elephants are amazing as well as the orangutans are great the animals are happy and to make up for not many animals they have large enclosures. I would recommend this zoo for sure
Fun place always expanding, parking is just a nightmare. I wish they knew that not everyone can ride the max!!
The zoo is very big and still expanding. So many animals from Pacific Northwest to Africa. I like red pandas, penguins and giraffes. Paid parking outside.
I love this zoo they always have so much to do and look at. The staff is great and well informed. The changes they have made over the years are also amazing.
We attended one of the zoo's discounted evening events. Not all the concessions were open, but we had access to the entire zoo, and there was an open field with booths and live music. The polar bear was one of the no-shows, having already retired for the night, but we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Beautiful zoo, the animals seem to have a lot of enrichment. Watching the lions feed is awesome.
Not much I can really say in a short space. This is there most genuinely interactive zoo I've ever visited. There is a lot of improvements in progress so we are looking forward to the completion of these projects next year!
Don't forget to visit the Lamprey exhibit! We were so lucky to be there for the first release of Lamprey into this new exhibit. Hearing the Nez Perce Elder speak and gracefully share a song with is all was beyond special and brought tears. My point? Visiting zoos can be more than walking around hoping to see a few lethargic animals in captivity. Done correctly and with genuine love and care for the animals provides both a learning and awareness opportunity for humans but also an enriching and protective environment for the animals. And it can lead to protection and even recovery (Lamprey!) of some species.
Great job Portland and the regional council and all the staff, volunteers and donors who contribute so much.
I wish the animals had more space to roam. Saw a show here recently and they don't have screens to show you the performers. You have to get here really early since there aren't screens.
Not been there since a kid 43 years ago awesome time meeting people i never meat before really hot will try in Sept.
It was fun, but much too crowded and not enough big animals
Really beautiful zoo! We went when there was a lot of construction going on at the time so some exhibits were closed unfortunately. Other than that it was really beautiful and the other animals were amazing to see
Seen John Prine in concert there. Very cool idea to have a concert in a Zoo.. arrive earlier though seating is tough. I also hear they have animals.
Very nice zoo. Everything is under construction right now which makes traversing the habitats difficult and it seems like the animals are suffering from lack of open space.
Really cool spot to see animals. There's also a cool area outside of it to look at the garden and stuff.
Every time we come here we discover something new. The food is great, the staff is knowledgeable, and it's always fun. You can tell the animals are very loved and well taken care of. I enjoy learning more about each individual animal that lives here. I wish there were more signs telling us the names of the animals in the exhibits - I know they're all listed online but I try to keep my phone put away when I'm busy interacting with my kids and discovering new things about the zoo.
One of the best, most peaceful zoos I have ever been. Not one animal was stressed and pacing. Gorgeous setting!
First time coming and I was amazed by how huge this zoo is. My Lady and I are truck drivers and God blessed us to travel from Missouri to Portland, so next time we come this way we'll be sure to stop here
Still wonderful even though some construction going on.
