Nice Zoo. Big enough to keep the kids busy for the whole day. Many animals to check. The left side called Welcome to the Northwest is just awesome. The shops, restaurants, fast food are nice and affordable. There is a train you can take with your kids but for an additional fee. I d recommend this place during sunny days. By the way they close at 4pm during 6 months of the year
Absolutely love this zoo, its giant and can keep you busy for hours
Very nature friendly zoo. Not too hard to be with a 5 year old child, very pleasant, close to the city center and very good
Is amazing. Good food/snacks and drinks for both adults and kids. Push or motorized Wheel chairs and also stroller rentals. They have concerts and are getting things ready for new fur babies to come in just an amazing place and great gift shop;)
**Correction** The zoo is actually open on weekends. Google has a misprint. We're only closed on Christmas Day. Zoo hours in April are from 9am-4pm, and guests can stay on grounds until 5pm. Thanks all!
This is an excellent place for toddlers! Our 3 and 2 year old loved all the displays and animals. The zoo is currently under construction which added another level of entertainment. Our kids love trucks, bull dozers, and any form of construction vehicle and the Oregon zoo did a great job of adding humor to their construction projects. Food was a little expensive for what you get but you can bring in your own food, which we will do next time. Overall, it was an excellent experience that I would highly recommend, especially for toddlers.
Great experience for the whole family, especially when polar pass opens in 2020.
And getting the pass is well worth the money!
Limited animals... fyi, but the zoo is great. No polar bears, chimps, tiger, leopard, limited monkeys, hippos and rhinos. etc. Tons of construction. This will be great when it is all completed. Dont expect too much.
The entire park is well planned, there are visits to the mobile line to attack the reference route and there are barrier-free access. However, the amusement park has a slightly higher internal cost. You can bring your own food.
Very disappointing but once you've been to the San Diego or LA Zoo, you're spoiled for life
Currently a few exhibits are down for construction. I can't wait for 2020 to see the new additions!!
The lights are pretty and the light animals are a lot of fun! It is very crowded!!! The lines are long to get in but they keep moving. There are some fun character meet-and-greets for photo opportunities. One sea otter interacted with a little boy through the glass. The otter followed the boy's hand and as he circled it the otter turned over and did flips. So cute!
Great place for kids. Zoo lights a must if you are in area at the time. Food is not too overpriced except for the elephant ears but it all goes to a good cause. On sunny days make sure to check out lions as you might see them roaring on the hill.
The new, updated exhibits are steadily making this quaint little Zoo of my childhood...to a world-class destination.
I visited in March 2019. There was so much construction going on for the upcoming exhibits that it ruined the experience a little. I look forward to going back when everything is open and amending my review!
It's hit or miss when it comes to the animals. For the most part, the activity level of most of the animals was actually quite good! From the public perspective, the Zoo was clean, and well maintained. I'm also glad they are trying to enhance enclosures and are involved in positive programs with the animals.
Very educational enjoyed seeing exotic animals will be glad when renovations are finished
A lot of construction, unannounced shortened train ride, but still fun with amusing elephants and a friendly staff.
Best to go on weekdays, weekends here are spent dodging 10,000 strollers. Lots of construction right now too. Went on a friday mor ing and there were no crowds, best experience I've had.
Not usually find of zoos, but this one is well kept up, and fun to visit. Mostly a summer please though it can be fun in the winter if you don't mind Oregon rain.
One of our favorite local attractions. It's a wonderful place to spend the day with the family. Even when it's busy, there are plenty of places to breathe. They're always expanding an improving the habitats and guest areas. A must do for anyone visiting Portland.
Best zoo! My kids love it and ask to go almost daily.
I liked it a lot because almost all the animals are almost in their natural habitat
Great family fun! Expect a few exceptions with the covid rules. You must make a reservation and know that the Monkey, Rhino exhibits are now delayed from a fall 2020 to a spring of 2021. Penguin exhibit went from early 2021 to likely late 2021 to early 2022. So renewing your membership might wait until Spring of next year.
100% still cool and worth it is the Christmas lights (at night) but, with covid, the train, carousel and bats are a no go from here until
Had a great time at the Oregon Zoo. Even though there were a few exhibits closed we still managed to see a lot.
The Ellie's are great to visit, everything is up close. Such a great experience
We will always love our zoo. Especially like how they are expanding exhibits so it's less depressing seeing wild animals in captivity. I like all the educational opportunities there. I only get frustrated when trying to park there, the spots are so narrow that unless you have a minivan you wont be able to open your car doors all the way.
Was very excited to go, but about 25 per cent of the zoo was under construction and closed, but still got charged full price for 3 adults. there were no polar bears, no monkeys of any kind, no rhinos, etc. We spend the 4 dollars to ride to train each, but was only on it for about 15 minutes and saw trees, one construction worker trimming trees and one elephant. Very, very disappointed. It was my bonus son's first time there and we were excited to go, but never again. We spent about 80 dollars there, which may not seem like a lot, it is for us. We could of spent that money on something fun.
Checked out the zoo lights which were pretty. However expected more given the entrance price was rather steep. Also you won't get to see animals during zoo lights.
The Oregon Zoo is a great zoo. It has many different kinds of animals in a very natural setting. Over the past years they have done a lot of upgrades. Great experience.
Currently under construction through fall 2020, but still open with great attractions.
Easily the best zoo I have ever visited! The zoo was extremely clean and the animals were all very interactive with the visitors.
Only four stars due to the construction the upgrades are awesome you'll get five when the rhinos habits are done.
Beautiful and fun! I loved every minute there!!!!!!
Love it here.
Well taken care of animals, knowledgeable staff, regular updates, and an immense amount of stuff to see.
Great for kids and adults!
If you have a chance to see a concert on the lawn here, I would highly recommend it. Great food vendors, beer and wine.
Other then one employee watching the train line, great experience
We've been a few times traveling through and can compare it to Seattle's zoo, this one has much happier animals and better grounds.
Too many things wete closed today, oncluding the aviary, the trsin, and on top of that, the zoo closed 2 hrs early. If we'd been aware of that we would have chosen to come on a different day.
There were several exhibits that were under construction, the food was over priced and terrible, the service was terrible, several of the animal habitats were in need of cleaning and general maintenance. In general it was the worst zoo I'd ever experienced.
we loved this zoo a lot!! more exhibits will open in 2020
First time here great place to bring family lots of different animals with many other interesting thing's to experience like insects, various events throughout the day and a train ride just to name a few. It's a wonderful place to see with friends and family
Super fun place to stop by for a day if you're in Portland. I've been here maybe 12 times in the past 15 years and I love the experience every time! The elephants are notably rad!
Great place for kids of all ages, fun shows, good variety of animals.
Pretty cool spot. Not too big like some other zoos. Had a good mix of animals. Layout is a bit confusing for first timers, but the signs point a good path. Hours are pretty short, so don't expect to be able to swing by after work.
Expensive and it's under construction
DON'T GO.........HARDLY ANY ANIMALS ......DON'T GO
Very clean place, great place to take your kids out, they have zoo light during the winter times.
I have an annual membership to the zoo, and have gone many times already. The Oregon Zoo is a beautiful spot to spend the day. The first section, focusing on the Pacific Northwest, is one of my favorite sections at any zoo I've been to. Lots of great animals to see, and lots still to come (there are 3 main sections being built for completion in 2020). The Zooliner train is a neat part of history. Tip: take the Max here, as parking can get full quickly at busy times.
We had a fun time at the zoo! The price was expected and worth it to see the look on my daughters face when she saw all the animals. I love going to zoos and this one was no different. I would definitely recommend to go here and bring a stroller or covered wagon for the little ones, the sun gets a little hot and they get heavy after awhile. Parking was a breeze as well and very cheap, compared to Seattle pricing,
Loved our trip to the zoo. Only one spot I wish we could have avoided because people were piling in a little too fast and not keeping 6ft apart, once I realized it was getting crowded I wanted to leave the area but could not even easily get out without breaking the 6ft rule ourselves (right after the black bear boardwalk, in the tunnel with the river otters)... maybe monitoring how many people enter and leave that area at a time to ensure distancing? I know there was an employee out front reminding everyone but I think it needed a little more enforcement. There was no employee
inside the tunnel which makes sense for safety for the employees, but maybe a safe station should be built for an employee to be able to stay inside to help move people through safety.
Everywhere else in the zoo we had plenty of space and wasn't near anyone! Which I was very thankful for because my two year old won't wear a mask. He did have the the best time ever tho and we are thankful for the experience... Just wish it was easier to social distance in inclosed areas.
Wow, just wow! Great Zoo. I always thought the Woodland Park Zoo was the best in the NorthWest, then we visited the Portland Zoo. Great layout and super cool.
I was very disappointed with the zoo. 1/3 of the animal enclosures were empty, another third of them you couldn't even see the animals, and the ones you could see might as well have been in prison. Horrible zoo. I hope I never go back. I didn't enjoy it one bit. Lots and lots of walking, lots of signs where there should have been animals, lots of signs promising future animals. I thought it was a total waste of my time.
Zoo concerts are great fun. Get there early as general admission seating fills up fast.
Good overall experience, with refreshments available at prices similar to other zoos I've visited. They also offer great holiday activities that are great for families and very affordable.
too expensive. i go once every other few years. i wish the photos were $5 each. the food & drinks should be half the price.
Most animals today,in a playful mood despite the hot sun. Its 4.00 entry on second Tuesday of every month.
The Oregon zoo is incredible, thier is a lot to see, do, and learn their.
Although I don't know how the stay in business. I've been there about half a dozen time, But I think I only paid once. They have free days or reduced price days. I didn't know it the first time. Still have to pay for parking though.
I had a great time. Unfortunately due to the pandemic certain exhibits and attractions were not available. Despite the closures we still had fun it is a beautiful zoo. I look forward to coming back when they finish the polar bear exhibit and open the African rainforest.
Check out the behind the scenes encounters. Worth it!
