Nice to go with family and also many parks near him.
Very nice zoo. My granddaughter went to a 5 day long summer camp there, & loved it.
We didn't even make it out of the overflow parking lot, the parking attendant was too busy on her phone and extremely rude to me and my family so we left. It has been a long time since I've been to this zoo and even longer til I'm back. When I called to inform the manager she was nice and at least apologized for the treatment. This Oregon family will have to go to a zoo in another state from now on.
The family and I just went there and it looks soon much different now then 2 years ago!
I love visiting the Oregon Zoo! It s especially fun to visit during Christmas time when they have the Zoo Lights!
It was pouring rain the whole time we were there but the animals were great and the zoo was practically empty.
The place is very cool and I would recommend visiting it.
Since having kids I make it out here once a year. And every time were here it seems like there always improvments being made. Its not a bad thing. Just that my son and daughter gets excited to see a specific animal (this year it was the hippos) but gets disappointed because the exhibits are closed or being worked on. My little ones still have a great time though.
Fun I did it with family alot to see alot to do and was fun they even had sweet signs that said in loving memory of lily I like that they did that but it was great
Gets dad and the kids out and mom a break! We have a membership and love it!
Really great zoo, fun and interactive learning for kids. Expanding the park's polar, rhino and monkey habitats currently.
One of the best zoos on the west coast! Was a tad disappointed that we didn't get to see one of my favorite animals (was a little bit too cold for them to be out), but I'm glad that they had a warmer place to be in. Minus a star because staff was pretty absent, and it was difficult to find people to ask questions or get directions.
The Portland Zoo is so much better than the zoo in Seattle.
I do not normally post reviews however; this experience was too terrible not to share.
PDX zoo lights, was a total disaster. After sitting in bumper to bumper traffic for easily 2 hours, finding and paying for a parking spot in a very cramped, crowded, not patrolled and unorganized parking lot. We got to stand in a huge line, patiently waiting to purchase our tickets. While standing in said huge line we preceded to get cut in front of by grown adults who couldn't be bothered to wait like everyone else. One woman was even using her mentally handicapped family members to lead the way pushing through people. After this disgusting display of blatant rudeness we left. Line security and organization should be a larger priority for an event this size.
Notes to take away from this review if you feel like braving rude people:
-Purchase your tickets online prior to the event.
-Go at least 3 hours before dark.
-Take a day off work in the middle of the week to go.
-Make sure to bring cash.
-Drive a smaller and alarmed vehicle.
As for my family, we will not be returning.
I recommend either getting their early in the morning or later afternoon if you would like to park in under 20 mins of arrival.
Very tranquil place to spend an afternoon with the kids. The exhibits are really great.
I would advise against going hungry unless you REALLY LOVE spending $8-$12 on a hotdog.
Also, since a lot of the scenery during the train ride is under construction (or was a few months ago when I rode it) I would advise saving your money. It s short and sweet... minus the sweet part.
New elephant area was wonderful. Have been to many zoos and this is the best one yet. Nice to see that Portland treats their animals right. Still more remodeling going on but not interfering.
Usually a great place to go, but I wish they'd tell you things are closed...before you pay to get in.
