In truth I didn't have long to spend here so only came for a sort of cliff notes visit to ensure I viewed the most famous paintings such as the van Gogh's and such. I feel that if I had all day I could have very easily spent it at this gallery due to the vast array of work they had on display. I will say it was very difficult to find certain rooms without a map which you had to pay for, but it was manageable. I viewed part of the Rachel Maclean film and was very enraptured by it and would suggest visiting while it is still on display.

This is a great museum. You could spend a whole day there and not see it all. It's got hundreds of art works and many famous pieces of art. I love the serenity of this gallery. You can sit and enjoy all the beautiful paintings and sculptures. And it's free! Galleries don't get better than this!

Apart from having considerable difficulty to gain access with my cabin luggage sized weekend case . . . eventually allowed in since I had planned to visit the paid for exhibitions anyway! Bellini w/ Mantegna exhibition an excellent and interesting juxtaposition. I prefer the Courtauld's own hang of their impressionist collection to the National's. Save your money at the National and wait for Somerset House to reopen! The rooms displaying the most modern part of the permanent collection (which I had intended to revisit) were re-hung w/ Bellini & Magenta. Tough but understanable! Remains a pleasure to visit . . . and have been doing so since the 1950s.

Just visited Titian exhibition - amazing paintings albeit very few of them -but the organisation is appalling which ruins the whole experience - clear example of a case when stricter rules just make it worse not safer nor more efficient. Tickets checked 3 times, everyone wears masks but the automatic door doesn t work - so everyone touches the same handle, for some reason after presenting the tickets I was given a tiny piece of paper that I needed to handle to someone throughout the visit, no audio guide (and no app to download info) so people still crowd next to each other to read info next to each painting (so much for social distancing). To contrast - two weeks ago I was in Uffizi gallery - and that was really well organised and very safe.

It's free. How amazing is that. It is huge and beautiful and full of some of the most amazing and famous works of art and it is free. The building itself is worth visiting for. It is very big so make sure you set aside enough time. Staff were pleasant and helpful.

So much to see and look at...definitely worth a look over a full day or a few consecutive days. Something for everyone and all tastes. Shame about tourists taking pictures stood right close so you can't get in there n look yourself properly til about 10 mins later n they've finished taking selfies. But thats always gonna be the thing for visiting college/uni students from near n far. Other than that! Fantastic!!!

Always a joy, even for a short visit to see the el Greco display and a quick hello to some other favourites!

Booked lunch in Cafe as a treat and had a very disappointing experience tho food was good. A wobbly table in a cramped and noisy environment - and as many of us eating were golden oldies (just, in my case!), was very unwelcoming. Service good in parts tho' paid and left after waiting 15 minutes for pudding to be served..... and the waitress mopping up the full glass of water she knocked over made a very poor job of it! What a shame! Potential to for us to become regulars now I have joined my husband in retirement.... Sandwiches in the Square next time!

One of the most amazing art galleries in London and it's free (although donations encouraged to keep it going!) The only downside is you can't see it all in one go as it's so huge. I suggest picking a floor or a period and really enjoying More

Great art, too bad my visit had to be quick, because I could lose a lifetime in there. The signs are clear and there's good information about the paintings. The most famous paintings demand a bit more patience as there's people reading and taking pictures, but they are worth it.

My favourite place to visit when I'm in London. Free and art works that will engage you as a viewer for many many many visits. Hint: limit your viewing to 10 pieces that you research well before you visit. It prevents you from feeling overwhelmed by the vast number of artworks.

This is one of the most visited places in London and already many people have written reviews on this place. I just want to say one thing, I never thought in my life that I will see an art of Da Vinci standing just 1 feet away!!!
