Edgecumbe Vanbeck Review of The National Gallery

Apart from having considerable difficulty to gain access with my cabin luggage sized weekend case . . . eventually allowed in since I had planned to visit the paid for exhibitions anyway! Bellini w/ Mantegna exhibition an excellent and interesting juxtaposition. I prefer the Courtauld's own hang of their impressionist collection to the National's. Save your money at the National and wait for Somerset House to reopen! The rooms displaying the most modern part of the permanent collection (which I had intended to revisit) were re-hung w/ Bellini & Magenta. Tough but understanable! Remains a pleasure to visit . . . and have been doing so since the 1950s.
