A really awesome blend of modern and post modern art. The current exhibition on clothing and art is a must see! Using clothing and accessories as a way to date a cultural piece, like art does is brilliant
A really fun place, but don't take kids with you unless they really enjoy art!
MoMa is one of the most famous museums in the world. It s a must if you are in New York. Great experience, great art and great building. Book a ticket one day before, so you don t be waiting too long.
A good collection of the world's well known works of art.
Currently under renovation/construction so some areas (and some of the important items are not on exhibition).
Beautiful collection. The museum itself is a little bit difficult to overview. hopefully this will be better after the renovation.
Awesome museum with lots of famous paintings.
No bags or water is allowed inside, need to give it up to the cloakroom, using your phone number as a cloakroom ticket.
"The Starry Night" by van Gogh is very popular, there is usually a huge crowd around it and museum staff doesn't allow to stay too close to the painting. If you want to get a better look, come early, around opening time.
There is a people s collective activity where they let you experiment with collage, map making and weaving. Had an awesome weekend.
Sometimes you need to just turn around to see the beauty in you are in
On my most recent visit, a visitor was standing near the doorway of a gallery wearing headphones, leaning backwards as far as he could manage to admire work mounted on the ceiling. As i passed him, he passed wind very loudly. Never a dull moment at MOMA.
P.S. The patient staff at coatcheck alone are worth the visit. Much love to them all.
The New York Museum of Contemporary Art has interesting exhibits.
MOMA!!!!
Be there or be square.
(Or your preferred shape)
One of the most exciting museums I ve been with many highlights. The Dream was my personal favorite but between temporary and fixed exhibits, there s a lot to see. Definitely a must in NYC!
It's a great museum. Unfortunately it's under construction at the moment so it's a lil bit limited than usual, but still definitely worth a visit! It's free on Fridays between 4-7pm
A great museum if you are particularly interested in modern art. However the layout causes traffic congestion and the smell of the museum cafeteria overwhelmed that floor.
I love here very much. CUNY students can get totally free ticket. Nice place.
Carl Carra's Funeral of the Anarchist is the most significant work I've seen in a long time. It's deep. When pondered.
I could do most the art myself. They had a starry night which was amazing but you are paying the admission price to see just that one painting.
Very impressive. I actually enjoyed the Met more for its modern art works. We ate a restaurant called Modern that's inside the Moma. It was very high end. Check it out if you don't mind it being pricey.
I could live in MoMA. It's size is one of its best features. Even if there are huge crowds on free Fridays or at popular exhibitions, there is always a floor that is relatively empty. The sheer size of its collection means I'll never see it all and it has a great calendar of talks, tours, films, and workshops. I'm a member and go there a few times per month. I've also noticed they incorporate minority voices, feminist perspectives, and other "nontraditional" points of view into their exhibitions.
Great exhibits! Friendly staff and volunteers. Free Friday nights sponsored by Uniqlo. It's a great way to spend your Friday evening!
Amazing experience, a must-see. I especially enjoyed Egyptian collection
Was bit disappointed because of lots of boring stuff. The picture gallery is nice especially the work from Picasso, van Gogh and some german artists. The section about Warhol and the Beatles area is also nice to see. Some strange art about magicians and boring sculptures are wired. Perhaps the reason was that I had higher expectations. Tip: Every Friday between 4 an 8 pm free tickets. Don't be afraid of the long queues. It goes fast!
We went on the free day. Very crowded. Some of the art was a little beyond us but we found our favorites. They made it all worthwhile.
Excellent collection. Don't miss the Picasso and Monet galleries.
What a beautiful museum! Highly recommend Fridays - free admission 4pm till 8pm!
Nice collection. I expect more of US artists. There are many Europe artists. Anyway, it not reduces the merith of the collection.
For any lover of modern art, this is definetly the place to go ! Ranging from European impressionists to contemporan art, there's a masterpiece for everybody in this museum !I would never recommend it enough
A magnificent museum that is unfortunately often too busy for people who come to sit down and enjoy the art. Expect crowds passing in front of you with their cameras pointed at paintings.
Memorizing, Goosebumps over and over. I wish I had more time to explore it all
You can always count on MoMA for housing an extensive collection of modern art - both from well-known and emerging artists. Though it can get crowded (avoid the weekends), if you're patient, you'll be able to navigate through the museum without missing much. To boot, the store is terrific if you're looking for a unique gift for family or friends.
Great collection of art, just wish there weren't as many people taking selfies or making fun of the art in earshot
Even with the crazy holiday crowds, the fresh approach to exhibitions shines through. Don't miss Betye Saar or Taking a Threas for a Walk. Both great, creatively curated jewels. Can't wait to explore more.
One of the best museums in the world. A must see when you are in NYC. Also a good place to eat. Real, tasty food and superb wines.
Very nice building lay out with some gorgeous art pieces Including the invaluable Starry Night, Water Lillies and other works from Cadence, Van Gogh, Monet, Miro, Picasso, and many more. You will need a few hours to absorb what MoMA has to offer. I must compliment the staff at the cafe. They are efficient and very courteous and accommodating. I was surprise to experience such professionalism at a museum cafe! Highly recommended.
A musician's fave! #LocalGuide #musicianfavorite So inspiring!
I loves the art I saw it was very interesting I went on a class trip and I think if you guys go there you will be inspired too there are tons of work from picasso to Van gough.
Huge museum housing a wide array of paintings, sculptures and visual media.
We did the Uniqlo Free Friday and despite a massive line, it moved really quickly. The only downside was that it was jam packed inside and made the experience a little painful at times.
The place is big so I d definitely recommend researching ahead of time what you want to see so you make the most of your time there.
Went on Friday night because it was free. The building itself was cool, and I like the MoMa design store, but was not a fan of exhibitions.
Incredible collection. We went during the free hours (Friday 4pm - 8pm), and it was extremely crowded. If I go again, I will probably pay the full admission price and spend the whole day in the museum.
Great place to see a. warhol, van gogh and impressionist painter. one place to be
A fun place to see some modern art. Not as big (or impressive) a collection as other art museums in NYC, but contains some big name pieces from Pollack, Warhol, Picasso, Van Gogh (Starry Night), and always has a floor or two dedicated to more contemporary, avant-garde pieces. Free Fridays from 4-6 PM!
Admission to the Museum of Modern Art is free for all visitors every Friday evening, 4:00 8:00 p.m., during UNIQLO Free Friday Nights.
I work there ... Great experience for everyone fine art
What an amazing museum it is! I was blown away by the discussion/tour with the curator about modern sculpture (Brancusi). If you have the time I can highly recommend those (they are even free of charge)
Went post Covid. Did temperature check. Walking in felt a bit like airport security. The artwork is amazing
One of the beautiful spots in NYC.
They are renovating but you cannot miss any. Their souvenir shop is also nice.
Breathtakingly beautiful. The art will leave you speechless. We got there early so it wasn't as busy. I wouldn't recomend taking young children the art is easily accessible and the children that I saw there didn't seem interested.
Nice museum, although sometimes difficult to navigate.
Starry Night had me shook, as did Water Lilies and The Persistence of Memory
Be prepared to walk around an entire day here. I don't even like art, or consider myself an art enthusiast or study in any way paintings. However, I was even in awe of the magnitude of the MOMA. Floor, after floor, of rooms & rooms of paintings -- all different genres too. Classical, modernist, abstract, etc. Some of the most well known painters I've studied in school, such as Frida Khalo and Picasso were cool to see, but some of my other favorite paintings were done by Van Gogh.
One of the world's highest in standards of contemporary art. Quality curation by somewhat celebrity curators. Avoid free Fridays, way too crowded. Saturdays are pretty busy well. Worth paying admission for the personal space bubble. Service dog friendly.
Grrrrrrr8 facility will return at a less busy time to enjoy it fully
Really awesome place to visit in NYC. The VR tour of an imaginary/concept city was neat
Not the best but One good moder arte museum with very Nice artworks and paintings. Van Gog, Picasso etc
Helvetica. Helvetica. Helvetica! A standard when visiting NYC. Spent so much time looking at the exhibits that we had to cancel another part of our trip. Totally worth it.
One of the best art museum in NY. It's smaller than MET and can be very crowded in summer.
It s amazing! You need to time to visit every floor! The 5th floor has the most amazing paintings but the other ones are good too.
An amazing exhibit that you can spend hours in. My only complaint are the lines and the bag check policy. Women can walk in with purses no problem but the second they see a backpack on you have to wait on a 30-40 minute line (at least it took that long on Friday night which is generally packed due to the free passes, so I can't compare how it is on other days) just to toss it over the counter.
Obviously security is a big concern, but for such a well known place around the world and tourists coming in daily, I don't see why they can't issue backpack checks. If anything I wouldn't suggest going during peak times, especially if you're a tourist since you will most likely be carrying around a backpack of some kind and will end up staying in over an hour worth of lines before you even step into the exhibit.
I am not a fan of modern art, but this museum offer a lot of classical art also, so great museum to do !
It takes a very particular person to enjoy a lot of art there. Personally I prefer art that took effort to create and while there were some pieces that were that way there were many more that were not, such as a dot that people search for that is clearly visible on a blank canvas. I'm no art critic but I did not enjoy the art there
I think everyone should be able to experience the MoMA at least once in their life.
Oh my God. If you love and appreciate art or if think it's stupid you'll love this place. They even offer free headphones that explains the artist and their work. A definite must visit.
The fifth floor is some of the most breathtaking art I've ever seen (including the famous Starry Night). As you work your way down the floors the museum turns into the absurd. You'll find yourself asking "at what point does this stop being art and start being trash". I understand the point of provoking thought and the art of floors 2-4 had me thinking "How quickly can I escape this museum?"
Went for the Miro exhibit. Really enjoyed the whole experience. Extra kudos for charging stations by the coffee and gift store. Lunch on 5th floor was delicious. Highly recommend the beet salad. Best part was seeing works from Latin America which I didn't know. Favorite work is miro's Birth of the World.
Throngs of people, to view some good classic art works, but most are mediocre, by clueless curators. A hiped meaningless exhbits.
It was well maintained and well managed but it wasn't well explained. I didn't understand anything on 4,5,6th floors. The only thing I liked was 3rd floor. I hope they can hire more people who can explain at least the famous peices.
Loved the artwork and was enlightening but some of the employees there mostly the art security were rude. Also there was a lack of rule direction b/c my father brought an umbrella through all floor without any complaint it wasn't until the last floor the security guard rudely told him he couldn't go inside which was strange bc we went to all other levels. Also ask another guard a question on where the artwork was and she rolled her and said oh well what you is what we had hahah okay thanks !
A dream come true for a Monet and Van Gogh- obsessed art fan like me. Couldn't get enough of this place!Worth spending a whole day looking at some of their classic and modern pieces. Lovely location too with some pretty cafes around. The museum shop is sure to grab your attention and there's a lot of interesting stuff including but not limited to books, coffee mugs, poster prints, lamps and other art elements to choose from.Unmissable visit when you're in NYC.
I am not the biggest fan of "modern art", but this museum does have a large variety of what is considered modern. Starting in the late 1800s and spanning until the present, there is a lot to see. Having the audio guides is very nice because you can get the background on pieces. Even if you are not the biggest fan of "modern art", it is still worth a few hours of your time to experience something different.
Once again a wonderful couple of hours of immersion in the world of art and design. Something that's soothing and reinvigorating. The MoMa of NY is a very special place that is absolutely worth visiting as often as possible.
Loved the contemporary art from European artists, coming from Europe I hadn't seen many of these original pieces before. Also good for a rainy day
Had a great experience, even when it was super packed. Lots of interesting pieces and the place is neat. Garden had great ambiance too.
Thoroughly enjoyable experience, and it will get even better when they finish their expansion in October. Went on a very busy, rainy day, which meant half the world was there, making it rather crowded. The crowds made it difficult to enjoy some of the areas, as not a lot of people really appear to be interested in the art - this means you with the carriages full of little kids! If you are, the exhibits are excellent, especially the main installations.
Beautiful paintings. Very crowded, especially in the room with Vangogh and Monet.
You will find a little bit of everything. You can't miss the van Gogh's
The most important collection of Modern Art in the world. It is a privilege to be able to do many masterpieces in one place. And, oh - the coat lady was not nice.
One of the best museums of art I have ever visited (and I've seen many in Europe, Asia and US). Amazing permanent collection of the greatest artist and interesting temporary exhibitions. Open everyday til 5:30 p.m., though on Friday's afternoon 4:00 8:00 p.m. the entry is free. However be ready for a great queue.
Amazing art!
Has lots of great art all in one place
Restaurant is very good also.
Bruce Nauman exhibition was a waste of time and money. Go to the Dia: Beacon to see his work.
One of my favorite museums in NYC. Too crowded on the free Fridays, but definitely worth the visit.
Haven't back to MoMA since last year. After all the craziness happening this year. MoMA did a very cautious step for every visitors to making sure our safety. Did a temperature check up for everyone before entering.
MoMA is my favorite place to go for photography. Their vast collections of historical photos and photographers is definitely a to go place for me.
Had a blast .. 18 dollars for a moment of art culture... Highly recommended!
