My first visit post renovations. Highly recommend a visit there to take in all the changes. It was crowded, but not as crowded as it generally is on the free day on Fridays.

Use the coat- heck service. It s phenomenal. Your claim check k number is your telephone number. I loved all the exhibits. I didn t get to see my favorite old master starry night but love the new exhibits featuring diverse artists. Fascinating. MOMA is an oasis in NYC. Should definitely be on your list of places to visit. The sculpture garden wasn t open the day I went due to inclement weather. I plan to go back again soon. Like most museums, you can t take it all in in one visit. Pace yourself and bring water. If you get hungry, there are places to eat there.

Free Friday evenings 4pm to 8pm. I recommend you come at 7pm and spend an hour in there and do multiple trips, otherwise it's very crowded. Or pay.

As for the art, some of it is beautiful, some of it is a painting with a garbage bag over it. An "artfully torn trash bag" that is.

Definitely worth checking out though.

Overall, the Museum of Modern Art was a very underwhelming experience. Although it is a fairly large museum with an adequate variety, the museum does not have any interesting pieces that would equate to the $25 admission fee. Perhaps I went on a day when there was no special exhibitions however, nonetheless, I do not feel that the admission fee is proportional to the value of the collections or the overall experience. I've been to other museums such as the Sistine Chapel and even Montreal's Museum of Fine Arts that have much more vast and unique collections for much more reasonable admission fees. I was shocked that it was so crowded on a random Monday morning; there was almost no space to walk around. I wasn't fully able to enjoy it without bumping into people or having to navigate the congested hallways and staircases. I would not recommend a visit unless you're obsessed with modern western art.

What an amazing place. I was here all day and only got to two floors. It's art so some of the pieces may not be your style - that is OK. My advice is to take your time and really enjoy the pieces you find interesting. There are many roaming docent's that are very knowledgeable and helpful.

Have not been since the renovation and addition, but there is a lot to see. There are classic modern pieces (like Starry Night and Campbell Soup) and countless other pieces. I m more a fan of classical art, but I do enjoy my visits. You could easily spend the entire day here and still not see everything.

This museum houses many of the best known art collections in the world. You don't have to be an art lover to appreciate the Museum of Modern Art; this airy midtown gallery also doubles as a shrine of pop culture and 20th century history. More

The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) acquired its first artworks in 1929, the year it was established. Today, the Museum s evolving collection contains almost 200,000 works from around the world spanning the last 150 years. The collection includes an ever-expanding range of visual expression, including painting, sculpture, printmaking, drawing, photography, architecture, design, film, and media and performance art.

One can't visit New York City without dropping by this monumental consecration of modern art. They show most of the cubists and their fare share of avant-gardists. My favorite works of art are the Klee and Van Gogh paintings. Besides the 5 hours you will offer yourself in indulging these masterpieces, you must also stop by the restaurant which has quite a fine menu to please.

Individual museum membership is $85. If you plan on visiting the museum more that once, it's well worth it given the $20 entrance fee. This is one of my fave museums. Download their app to listen to guided tours from your phone. They do have free wifi although it is slow. The cafe has great salads but can be very loud in there.

My wife and I loved the MoMA, she had been there before but it was my first time outside of seeing images and reading descriptions of it. Honestly it is a sight to see and definitely opened me up to the experiences of artists I had never heard of. Of course we did the obvious and saw the major pieces like Starry Night and The Persistence of Memory; Also I came across a chair that I thought would be original to describe as the dildo equivalent to the throne from Game of Thrones but like a pleasant surprise the description next to the chair confirmed my joke as real.

I had an amazing time and I think its definitely one of those things you need to devote the majority of a day to truly absorb it all.

Amazing museum to see great artists such as Andy Warhol, Picasso, Monet among others. Has a garden in the middel of the building that is amazing to rest or wait. Coffee and store upstairs where you can eat and also charge your phone's battery

This is one of the finest galleries in the world for modern art and should not be missed, even for those with only a passing appreciation for modern art. And unlike most museums, the audio guide is free, actually works well, providing vivid and easily understood commentaries. On my first visit I arrived at 3:30 on a Friday afternoon. With wallet out, I was prepared to pay full admission and was informed by the sales desk that free admission begin at 4 pm on Fridays. Yay! I checked my coat (also free) and was delighted to find they were allowing free admission folks in 15 minutes early. I was able to attend one docent-led tour of just two paintings, but was disappointed. She basically just read her notes, and the audio guide commentary which I listened to later was more informative. But the collection not only did not disappoint, it far exceeded my expectations, and I was expecting a lot. The collections are thoughtfully arranged, and the signage is not distracting, yet very accessible. The guards in each Gallery do a good yet respectful job keeping the crowds at arm's length from the works, so even when the galleries are crowded, you can see all of the art well. It's wonderful that Moma allows picture taking, and I saw no one trying to sneak in a Flash photo. There is no point in referencing specifics about the collection, it simply is mind-boggling and fantastic.

went on a friday where uniqlo was sponsoring and providing free tickets. free tickets line was very quick. i was told very early that no bags were allowed. i didn't end up staying for very long, found out quickly modern art wasn't something i enjoyed. the museum itself was well spaced out with lots of walking space.

Visiting art galleries is on my Nr1 list in any country I visit. Maybe I had too high expectations for MoMA knowing of what sort of Photography collection they own... But sadly this time i wasn t impressed at all. Layout - 1 star (MoMA should learn from Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam for this, or at least Tate in London...). Flow of people is massive yet 0 signs of how to direct them into correct direction. The positioning of art pieces is as bad as that of a high school, definitely not one of an established gallery... positioning of some of the more famous art pieces is terrible too - definitely more thought off location should be chosen for them. Security - 1 star. People are constantly touching the artworks. No railings of any sort... 0 respect for the art. And thats not publics fault, but the Museum. 2 stars just for the sake it being MoMA, staff being nice & still having some splendid art works. In general, the worst art museum I ve ever visited. I could easily check the same artworks online, and be more impressed than wasting time and $$ on this thoughtless organisation of art representation. The layout should enhance viewers experience, not leave it as it is.

My favourite museum around the world. I have been here 3 times and never is enough. They have different kind of art, and that make it beautiful, interesting for each person. It's just amazing

MoMA is a beautiful museum, with a fantastic collection, in a highly accessible part of Manhattan. It is very expensive, though, so make a day of it, and go when there's more than one body of work you want to see. When weather permits, take some time in the sculpture garden. Go to this museum especially if you haven't been in a long time. Architecturally it's a great space to spend the afternoon or morning in.

This place has special events that let you in for free. If you do so, get there a bit earlier because the line gets pretty long. Usually on normal days it's not so packed but during the free ticket days it is extremely packed to the point that it is not enjoyable. There's way more room on the 6 train during peak hours than in this place at that specific time. Also you don't really have time to look at the art since there's lines for everything and they all have to keep on moving.

But if you wanna see Starry Night and for free this is the place for you to go. Highly recommend paying or flashing your NYC ID or school ID if you have one.

I appreciate the art and even though I had to come to the museum for an art project I would only come back if there weren t so many tourists... which will be never. I know it s midtown. At least it s free to nyc students. Cool to finally see A Starry Night after years of looking at it through a screen but of course a big crowd was in front of it. Had Kirchner, Matisse, and Picasso. I couldn t navigate the museum easily since it s quite large. Staff were very nice.

On of my favourite places in New York. Beautifully designed building and amazing works of art.

One bit of advice, the free day on Friday sounds like a good idea but it gets so full it feels like a safety hazard! Definitely don't go at this time if you don't like crowds!

It's hard for me to be the judge of this kind of place because I did not appreciate 95% of the Art. They had Van Gogh's Starry Night and beautiful Monet. Other than that I was pretty bored or just looked at the art and thought what? Why? Beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder.

Except the famous Van Gogh painting (Starry Night), felt like the $30 weren't really worth it. If you are not an aficionado of Modern Art you will feel mostly lost, ignorant and bored... The MET is a much better museum!

I love MoMA!! I m an art junkie so this museum is perfect! They have some many different kinds of art, there is something for everyone. I will continue to come back and recommending people, for sure.

The bastion of modern art in the city. Enjoy the finest selection of modern art. You may watch some live performance if lucky enough. Great temporary exhibitions to alternate the content of a museum. Go from top floor to first floor. Nice gift store as usual. Please avoid selfies with trashy modern art.
