Amazing art , great place to hang out , good light snacks.
awesome museum if you like to enjoy a lit of bit history of your ancestors. and really nice atmosphere
Don't know what is going on with the museum, but for the last couple of years every visit was more and more disappointing. A lot of the art from their amazing collection is not on view.
If you love modern art, it will be your great experience. But as you know too many people are always crowded. Too easy to be distracted.
The museum is under construction so many expositions are close, but it's always wonderful visit it. Remember to visit 5th level where could find all impresionist art
Wonderful, so many different types of art.
.. Loved seeing Van Gogh's Starry Night!!
Clearly one of the best art museums in the world. Excellent exhibitions of art ranging back up to 150 years. Mostly focuses on paintings but includes photos, installations, sculptures, textiles, furniture and architectural models. Good selection of text provided for selected pieces. Only would like them to update some overview texts to focus on the thoughts about the pieces rather than feeling like they have to justify them...
The Museum is easily worth 5 stars, but again one less for the staff, as so often in NY. When buying the tickets we were treated like scum - really, i was shocked. So unfriendly staff in such a nice museum! Shame!
I like the architecture and interior design of this building. The lobby desing is very relaxing and all the staff working from doormen to the concierge are very friendly and professional with any visitor.
Love the museum! Love the store! A must do on any NYC trip.
Great art. The location of the starry night by Van Gogh
The MOMA is a smaller museum but with wonderful displays of art. The museum is great for both quick stops (which unfortunately we had to make) and a day of discovery. They will be closing for a few months with plans to expand. I hope to visit again in the fall when they open again.
When I heard that MoMA was re-opening, I couldn't wait to visit. It was well worth it. All of the new exhibits were wonderful. Due to time constraints, I was only there for a few hours. Next time I visit, I will devote an entire day to explore even more.
Houses some of the most iconic works of art in the permanent collection including Van Gogh, Klimt, Monet and many more. Such an amazing experience to see them in person.
Beautiful museum, I enjoyed each second that i spent there...
You can get free tickets Fridays 4-8! It was crowded but so worth it. Have classics like Dali, Kahlo, Picasso, & Van Gogh, and cool/intriguing art installations for miles.
Great museum with a large variety of arts. I had an excellent experience at this place. The museum is well organized and it is worth to visit.
Great space to enjoy art. Starting on level 5 and working way down is an easy way to view displays/special exhibitions. Bit of a line-up for main cloakroom, which is easily avoided by arriving early.
Do not think for one second that you can get through MoMA in one day. Plan for a minimum of two hours per floor (there are five floors), plus give yourself time to walk through the reasonably priced shop.
Great renovation. Big plus having connected 43rd and 44th street through the lobby.
I went there on Friday as the ticket was free! It was pretty crowded,I recommend taking at least 2hours to visit MOMA.
Art is great but the security guards are horrible. Why do you put texts on the walls if we are not allowed to get closer to the texts (not the paintings) just to be able to READ them ??!!!!!??!!!! Better stay at home and watch it online because you cannot look closer to the paintings especially if you want to study the method of the painter !!!
Really nice and simple if you interested in a combination of modern art and traditional art this is the place to go. However you need to go wearing things comfortable because is a lot of walking and elevators take forever to get to the floor you are in.
Huge. Diverse. Provocative. Only had a small taste. Worth coming back spending a week or two.
Pretty straightforward to navigate. The sculpture garden is always cool. Liked that they feature the winners and runners-up of the young archictects' competition. Love the furry teacup. Great attraction!
It's hard to say a museum as large as the MoMA is not perfect. In a lot of ways it is. My only observation relative to others in the city is flow of human trafficking through the various levels and galleries. It is fine to be busy as it is most days. But am exhibit should be as human friendly as possible. Easily read signs, seating in accessible and out of way places, accessibility to each exhibit and room with ease. Regardless, the art, pieces, and exhibitions on display were wonderful as expected.
Fantastic museum! The fifth floor exhibits were incredible (Van Gogh, Suerat, Picasso, Monet, the list goes on...) The highlight for me was Monet's water lillies -- absolutely stunning.
The finest collection of modern art I have ever seen. It was a privilege to be in the presence of the great masters.
The impressionists' works, such as Monet, should strike a chord with many. There are however many other works that will leave you scratching your heads. But then, this is a museum dedicated to modern art.
I had great expectations for what would have been my third visit there. Alas, the museum was closed until October 21, 2019! As much as I understand the need for refurbishment, how can they choose summer, the time of the year when tourists are traveling, to do it? On top of it, lack of advertising of this led me to discover it just when arriving a few yards from the door. Therefore, I spent 1 day stop over and $ 300 hotel and taxi to and fro JFK for nothing. MoMA, and consequently NYC, you ve lost my patronage for ever.
The new expansion of the museum is astonishingly good. The galleries have been completely reorganized, with less emphasis on chronology and more focus on themes and artistic relationships that helps you see even familiar works in a new light. The expansion lets the museum show rarely seen works from what likely is the world's greatest collection of modern art. Even if you've been there before, go again - it's a completely new experience.
I ve been going to MoMA regularly since 2010. However, I remember going back in early 2000 and was underwhelmed because the museum was undergoing renovation. The museum is now undergoing another major revamp (because they swallowed up the More
Fantastic and inspiring, but very very busy when we went on a Sunday. Strange policy regarding the size of bags forced us into a huge queue for bag check, which almost caused us to miss our time for the Picasso sculptures exhibition which was a bit stressful. Still, a fantastic museum with some truly great pieces. Not to be missed.
Very cool! Loved all of the exhibits. I will definitely be coming back during my next NYC trip!
Fantastic collection of art, but incredibly crowded. Get there when it opens!
I came to see Starry Night, and became a fan of many other artist. I visited before noon, busy but not too crowded. Store could have more selections. Loved loved loved charging area for phone on second floor. Bathrooms very clean.
An awesome museum that I first went to with my girlfriend, I've returned here 3 times now I believe and it never has disappointed. It always has something to look forward to.
The MoMA is virtually a household name at this point so there is little more that can be said in yet another review.
The museum is laid out well and has a great collection of well known artists. The works are spaced well so it never gets too packed and it's easy to see everything despite the crowds. A $25 ticket lets you see it all and it's an amazing deal.
There are a couple of nice typical museum cafes to choose from that serve excellent coffee. The gift shop and bookstore are worth checking out and better than most museum stores. Also worth seeing the MoMA design store that has some nicer items like Vitra George Nelson clocks.
Overall amazing experience.
MoMA is a must for tourists and locals. The museum itself is architecturally attractive, and the permanent collection is, as one may expect, world class. Temporary exhibits are of the same calliber. The coffee shop on the 5th floor has a nice view from the terrace. Menu is limited.
The MoMA shop (outside, across the street) is worth a visit.
Such a big collections of artwork! The staff were ever so helpful and informative.
Wow, what amazing family programs they have! We went on a Saturday morning for both a 6 year old tour and a 10 year old tour. One parent went with each child. Excellent hosts and very knowledgeable museum staff. Barbara was fantastic with the 6 years old group. Even our wiggly little guy was able to enjoy the 3 different paintings we visited and dad learned a lot too! We followed that up with a noon children s film showing and discussion - we watched 4 short films and shared about our experience and impressions of the film with everyone. Did I mention both programs were free!!!??? What a fun day. Thank you, MOMA!!!
Crowded and exciting. I recommend getting a membership to skip lines, access events and private viewing hours, and have the ability to pop in and out when you are in the area.
I love this museum. The art is amazing and always new and exciting. The museum is beautifully laid out with high ceilings, tall windows, and a fantastic and relaxing courtyard full of statues and plants. I could spend hours here looking at all the art.
Wide selection from sculptures to blue prints and even dance. There are also several classics located here. The flow works very well and you don t feel like you re backtracking often. I found starting at the top worked well as you started out with the more permanent pieces and ended in the new expositions.
Beautiful art. Well curated and interesting descriptions. The building was not well marked. It was hard to find your way around, exits not easily found. It was also incredibly crowded. We didn't appreciate the amount of photography taking place. Very distracting.
It says I was here a year ago but I actually was not. I was outside but it is my favorite museum in New York City.
Great collection of art. Well kept lobby and lines. Coat check was easy. You could spend hours here.
Beautiful museum, a good place to find some inspiration, sit and think, write, draw with your headphones in.. especially at the sculpture garden which is open during warmer months. Friday nights admission is free starting at 5:30pm it's always extremely busy at this time many tourists in line that wraps around the building however the line does move fast. If you want a better experience and arent on a budget don't come to free Friday nights.
Klimt Matisse Picasso Van Gogh Lautrec...
And modern art
Wonderful
This museum is one of a kind! Beautiful! one of the must see places if you are visiting NYC. A place that inspires the mind and fuels creativity. MoMa has extraordinary exhibitions and collection of modern art. Amazing photographs such as Dorothea Lange s Migrant Mother and her other beautiful pictures from The Great Depression. Modern painting masters such as Manet, Matisse: Dance, Vincent van Gogh:The Starry Night and Portrait of Joseph Roulin, Claude Monet: Water Lilies and Picasso: Girl Before a Mirror... and many more dazzling paintings that you must see :)
As a first time attendee to a MOMA, I was certainly and understandably confused at some of the exhibits. I was later told by a college art student to "always get the audio tour headphones to hear explanations of the various pieces." I wish I had done that at the time to bring a greater appreciation for what I was seeing.
I could live here! Love this museum, the variety and constant updates to their collection. Beautiful works of art and if you go early there s fewer people which is nice.
There are 6 floors of art and activities. Gets crowded, so know what you want to see and pace yourself. When crowded, keep a hand on your kids, it's easy to lose someone in the maze to follow exhibits. There are 2 cafes and a coat/bag check. No food or drink outside of the cafes so be prepared.
Only piece of real art i was able to find was from Picasso. Everything else is really pointless. Nice to take pictures though.
Not my cup of tea. Nice to see Monet, Warhol and Dali close up though!
Great museum. We have been before and always amazed at the art. It never gets old and I'm always in awe every time we visit. Their courtyard is also beautiful, sometimes people have meetings and other gatherings there. Pretty neat. They are in the works for expanding the museum and I can't wait to go back and see the new additions.
I wasn't sure what to expect, but the MoMA didn't disappoint.
Very nice gallery. I had a great time seeing the art with my wife and discovered a few new artists I liked. The heart of the museum for me was the top 2 floors full of 'early' modern art and centred by starry night by van Gogh! Amazing.
I got to see a wide range of art and there were plenty of places to sit. I attended an art and psychology lecture that I really enjoyed, and I'd recommend catching one if the free gallery lectures. I spent a whole day in here, and I liked it all!
Definitely a fun museum to visit when you're in the city. They are currently free on Fridays but it's crowded.
I absolutely loved the museum, the place is great for art lovers or people who just enjoy really nice... art. The museum isn't enormous but the galleries don't leave you wanting more. They have the original painting of Starry Night and it looks so much better up close. The layout makes it easy to navigate through too.
I really like the place (it is very clean), but I don't like most of the pictures.
Love it! Great combination of well-known artists and lesser-known. The temporary Galleries are always a hit. Leave a full day to explore or come a few times to break it up.
If the Direction meant for the crowds to leave this place, they're doing the right thing. The city has lost one of its best art museums to become the Museum of Social Injustice - like that's all there is.
Obviously the art was good, but the place was so packed it ruined the atmosphere. Also, so many people were there just to be on their phones it seemed. The museum shop had some really cool items in it and the special exhibit we saw was well set up.
World class artists for a reasonable price, with discounts for student and seniors, and free for military. The most famous artists are probably Picasso and Van Gogh but there s also a ton of others. Best question overheard? Where s the Mona Lisa? No. Just... no.
Do you want to see a snowman? They have a permanent exhibit in the sculpture garden! Took a private tour after hours and saw wonderful works of art by Picasso Matisse, Braque, O'Keefe and so much more. So much to see in and totally worth a return visit to see more! Go alone or with friends.
Waaaay too many people..thw museum is great but avoid it o pick times..it won t be worth it
Wonderful light and airy building - an artwork of itself - with a changing series of blockbuster exhibitions, characterful assessments from their collection and smaller breaking shows. There s a confidence about the programming and a warmth about their contextualisation of exhibitions. Good embrace of digital with an excellent free app option to support events.
Great to see free access for kids, making this a bargain for families.
Cafes are good value and good food in a light and cheery setting.
A must-visit and were I an nyc resident this would be perfect membership fodder.
Oh, does an excellent job of queue management, digital ticketing a swallowing vast numbers of visitors.
Famous pieces of art and a large variety of art works on view. Went with someone and we enjoyed trying to interpret the art work before reading the notes (if any) on them. There was also some clips of films that they showed, with seating so that you can watch and also take a break.
Free audio tour tapes and ample bathrooms. Didn't go to cafeteria area.
Great place, every exhibit has it's own charm. Can get very busy at times and lines are usually long. Baggage check is pretty cool and so much better than the Metropolitan. Definitely take advantage of the CUNY student free pass.
This museum has paintings from many famous and well known artists, also many famous paintings such as Starry Night by Van Gogh. Many floors have thought provoking art. Nicely organized institution. Senior discount available.
One of my favorite places. The new expansion is worth visiting. Was lucky enough to see exhibits before they left.
While we go to the Met regularly, It had been 20 years since I visited MoMA and I frankly had forgotten what a spectacular collection it really is. We were limited on time so we went to the courtyard (the snowman was a favorite there) and then headed for the 4th floor where some of the greatest masterpieces in the world await. Having been to the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam a couple months ago we wanted to see Starry Night, and honestly it was easier to enjoy Van Gogh at MoMA than in Amsterdam where it had been overly crowded. While Starry Night is a draw, I was delighted to see the Dance by Matisse, a number of Picassos, Monet, Pollocks, Thoreau, Frida Kahlo (my grandparents, my parents and me) and just too many others to name. The ticket process was friendly, the coat and bag check system is pretty neat. I would love to go back and go floor by floor.
MoMA nice experience..but I had higher expectations!!!
If you like modern art it the place for you. Glad to see some favorites ..
Uh, it's sort of always atrociously crowded. Is there a worse way to consider art than trying to look past 20 people?
I am not really a fan of modren arts, but I liked some of the areas especially the once with the more "old" art in the 6 floor, with the famous Van Gogh. There is a wall full of pictures from delivery, very interesting.
There is a small childten area near the sculpture garden. It isn't a large meuseum , but there is a lot of visitors.
Wow. Simply wonderful and appealing to a variety of tastes in modern art.
Favorite museum. Atrium, vertical garden and shops make it even better. Look out for temporary exhibitions.
This place was an overcrowded hell where the art was interesting but ultimately not worth the time.
