Took advantage of the free admission every Friday evening (Thanks Uniqlo!) but I did not show up early so I stood in line for about 40 minutes. I was also asked to deposit my backpack at the entrance, which chomped another 20 minutes of my precious time. And because admission was free, there was a sea of humanity everywhere.

Their exhibitions continue to be edgy and insightful, tackling relevant subjects such as the human need for shelter and issues of displacement and efficiency. Of course, there are the art galleries showcasing work by well-known names such as Monet, van Gogh, and Gauguin.
Their museum store is as well-stocked as ever and it's always a treat browsing their new publications.

Moma is a fun place to go if you are looking for something to do on Friday night. Admission is free if you go between 4-8pm.

Some of the exhibits engage the audience as part of the art. There was one exhibit with a light shining through various prisms to project shadows on the wall. While you walk through and pose, you are creating images.
Another exhibit was a enclave that was wide enough only for two people. Once you stepped in, your image was projected onto another. There were mirrors on the floor, walls and ceiling. The juxtaposition of your images created an art form only you and the person standing next to you could appreciate.

Other exhibits are functional forms of art, such as the modern kitchen or the architectural exhibit: "Small Scale, Big Change: New Architectures of Social Engagement." The latter demonstrates how design can be functional and aesthetically pleasing. Imagine- functional art!

Cool and crazy stuff but at a price
We stopped in the design store rather on a recommendation and it was pretty cool. There are amazing and unusual things on sale that you just don't get anywhere else. That said, it's all at a premium. If you planning on shopping, ensure your budget is robust!

Phenomenal building with an excellent collection, including major works by hundreds of iconic artists, including Van Gogh, Picasso, Rothko, Pollock, Bacon; the list goes on and on. Enjoyed the Dorothea Lange exhibition. We just missed the Judd show by a week. Life changing stuff, seeing works in person that I once could only admire in books.

Great museum. You will feel the presence of all the past intensely special moments that happened in that place and all the great artists that have set foot in that beautiful building. It will trigger memories and strong feelings no matter where you come from or what generation you belong.

I LOVE the MOMA. I saw Starry Night. It is fabulous. I saw so many famous painters that I had learned about in school. It was the best museum I've ever been to. If you like art history even a little you must go here!!

Delicious meals wasn t expecting such a great selection and expedited service. Works worst secret but I think folks are ok. Gets crowded but food comes out quick. I had a 4cheese grilled cheese panini and tomato soup friend I went with had a popular pasta dish. Bellies were happy and full.

The best museum I've ever had the pleasure to visit! Modern art can be pretentious and dull (like some minimalist pieces of plain paint in a canvas), but mostly you can find art with substance here. I was pleased to find some Mexican More

Excellent opportunity to see modern and vintage art, the garden is fascinating too. Go on Friday after 4pm on Friday, it's free! So, tend to be a little packed, but still a very good opportunity to visit this attraction.

Personally I prefer Whitney Museum over MOMA due to the former's superior layout and architecture, but MOMA still remains as one of the best places to view contemporary and modern art. It has an impressive collection of Monet paintings, as well as rolling exhibitions of some of the world's most prominent artists' works. Don't forget to check out Van Gogh's famous The Starry Night.

There's a nice MOMA design store opposite the street that's worth spending some time in. Also, grab a plate at the nearby Halal Guys to complete the day.

It was a dream came true. I'm a huge fan of Van Gogh and of course, I wanted to see his most famous masterpiece. The staff was absolutely nice to me! I even chatted with two of them about art. It was a truly fullfilling experience that I would love to repeat.

It's a nice place but rush the 5th floor directly to see the master pieces. Picasso, Van Gogh, Magritte, Matisse... This floor is just astonishing! However, the rest is way below than the master pieces. Maybe it's the American modern art which is not that amazing, I don't know, I'm only a rooky.

We went on a Fri morning and it was pretty crowded. The staff is amazingly helpful, at ticketing, and through out the museum. Many different rooms that adults will enjoy, but it was a bit hard for sensory sensitive kids. Loved seeing many well known pieces, as well as learning new info on the well written info signs. The museum store is a treat in and of itself. We spent a lot of time here.

A must visit for contemporary art lovers. You will find pieces from Monet and Picasso and other great artists. Definitely a little crowded during spring and summer season. Although you can see your favorite works in a quiet environment the first Wednesday of every month all without the crowds. Do visit MOMA's design store. One of my favorite stores to browse for gifts and artifacts around the house. The selection rotates regularly with interesting, new products regularly. A little less selection than the SoHo location, but convenient if you work in midtown.

Wow! You should devote a few hours to this magnificent Art celebration, modern and classic. I would recommend starting on the top floor, warling your way down. If you are lucky you may catch a live art installation or witness modern dance scens. Anything can happen there.
Also, do yourselves a favour and pass though the MOMA Store. Beautifull and intelligent pieces. Some for very reasonable prices.

I'm showing a bit of my age here but I miss when Kirk Varnedoe led this fine institution. His exhibits were bold and adventurous with a strong point of view. He had an uncanny ability to push the public's consciousness forward and almost hold a conversation with his special exhibits... I'm speaking just of his art here. He's also a very eloquent thinker, writer, and speaker. I feel like MoMA today is resting on its laurels a bit with a tad too much commercial pressure. Perfect example: Why do they have a Frank Lloyd Wright exhibit showing blueprints, photos, and models? They're pretty and all but for the architect, the structures themselves are the art... These are spaces that are supposed to be touched and experienced. What am I supposed to gain by looking at a blueprint? Beautiful handwriting? Am I expected to build the structure in my head? This is almost pure commercial appeal in my opinion. But good for them to open PS1.

I happen to be a museum member and paid the $1 service fee to see a film I've been waiting to see all month. The a/c in the theatre was sooo cold that I had to leave after 1/2 hour even wearing a jacket. I reported it to the guard who said she would turn it down for the next film...but not this one. As a matter of fact couldn't even get through the Frank Lloyd Wright exhibit because it was so cold. So if you go to MoMA during the summer.....bundle up!

Best museum ever!! So many exhibits and they're all so interesting! You need at least a day if you want to actually see everything(meaning opening-close time) I gave myself 3 hours and I regret it so much because I only had time to see Africa and dinosaurs as whole exhibits and then i had time for just a few highlights like the whale and the gems. The app is very helpful because the place in a maze and if you want to see the mummies just fyi it's extra $$.

Wonderful place, even if it was packed it was still easy to maneuver around the vast rooms. The lovely waitress at the MoMA terrace was splendid and charming, she looked like she had years of experience and it showed in her casual, classy demeanor.

Thoroughly loved this place. Interesting from start to finish. Except for all of Jackson Pollacks' work. Preschool children's artistic dabblings have more talent, in my humble and apparently unshared opinion.

This place was good. Had a great variety of art. The museum was 5 stories each categorized and organized. Inside the p kml ace was very nice, clean and modern looking. Staff for the most part was nice except for one person who I overheard giving attitude to someone who didnt speak English. Would have given 5 stars had it not been for that. I'm not an huge fan of art but this is definitely worth checking out.

This was a great afternoon at the Museum of Modern Art. There is so much to discover here and for first timers it can be a bit overwhelming.

There are always crowds here so patience is key for everything from purchasing your ticket, going to bag check, and riding the escalators to each floor.

We were one of those first timers visiting and wanted to get the most out of the experience with the limited time that we had. So we opted to pay a little extra for the audio guide. There is a section where it will take you on an executive tour of the most famous pieces residing in MoMA and it takes about under two hours to get through.

I think this was the best value to see some of the most well-known pieces and the history before exploring the rest of what MoMA has to offer.

I won t go into explaining all the paintings and exhibits that we looked at throughout the afternoon. I don t think I would be able to do any of it justice. This is an experience that you have to be there to really take it in. There s nothing quite like staring at Van Gogh s Starry Night just a few feet away or trying to lean in a little to see the details on a Jackson Pollock.

4.5 stars - Pros: MoMA is conveniently located across the street from the E subway line. Garage and parking lots are within walking distance. There are approx. three spacious floors of awesome exhibits and wheelchair accessible. There are professional and courteous staff members on every floor of the museum. Great tasting food at the French-American restaurant (recommend business-casual dress code) and cafe (lunch menu), which may appear expensive to some visitors; however, prices are not usual for a restaurant or cafe located within a major museum. Note, there are less and more expensive restaurants outside and near the museum.

Cons: My opinion- the cafe spacing should be a little more wheelchair friendly. Street parking and taffic are challenging (but it's NYC). Nearby garages and parking lots are expensive -approx $20+ an hour. Tip - Look online for parking discounts coupons. Why pay $50+ for 2.5 hours to park when, for an example, you can pay approx. $25 with a coupon for up to 8 hours of parking for the same parking space.

i had strong experiences in this museum.

What a lovely museum! With the new renovations and upgrades it makes a great past time when in New York and learning experience. 5 floors and each offers a different rooms and gallery collective of different artists using new media, materials and techniques. I did have an opportunity to see a basquiat, Van Gogh and other notables artist. It was very beautiful to see them in person. This museum is a very child friendly and offers many areas for seating and observing the space and the art itself. The food is quite delicious and gift shop is a feast for the eyes. I would recommend to go Wednesday versus a Friday or weekend due to large swarms tourists. Like myself.

Went during uniqulo free fridays and it was worth it when it was free. There were a lot of people there. We saw the starry night and Salvador Dali but they were so crowded. For a free visit it is very crowded. So if you want to avoid that and enjoy your art in peace then pay for the visit. Personally I like my time there.

Went today for the first time since covid started. They do a temperature check at the entrance and the security person in the inside garden is very vigilant about people wearing masks there (which is great). However once you are inside people are constantly too close and there are rooms with way way too many people (on a members only day, not sure if it would be more busy on other days). There are hardly any marks/signs on the floor that say keep 6ft distance and nobody enforcing this. It didn't feel all to great and we left early...
The new organization and art is amazing. I thought that the diversity of the artist on show has increased a lot.
