Unfortunately, they didn't have The Lovers by Magritte when I went, but it was great.
Unfortunately, they didn't have The Lovers by Magritte when I went, but it was great.
Moma have free admission day on Friday 4pm - until closing time. At the first we though It is nice to save $25 admission fee since we are traveling with a tight budget. However, it wasn t that great after all. I think because of free admission, museum was super packed...if you just wants to take quick pictures it will be fine. But if you neither prefer seeing an artworks in slow pace, it will be worth to pay that $25 admission fee to get in.
Great collections!! On the 5th floor. Couldn't see the rest. It closes at 6! Be aware
Truly one of the best museums in the world. Never regret taking time out to visit.
Was not impressed. The paintings were nice, but Van Gogh's Stary Night is in a glass frame, ugh.
Great place, excellent architecture and friendly staff.
Some of the best modern art in the world is here. Free Fridays a great deal, but often too crowded to appreciate the art properly.
Wow. Impressive collection. If you have less than 5 hours, recommend starting on 4th floor on the way to the impressive 5th
Hey it s MOMA. . They have great cafeterias to sit, have something to eat. Also have nice chairs to relax when you need that break.
Great museum, but allowance has to be limited to certain amount of people.
In this museum you can see pictures of Picasso, van Gogh, Malevich, Gustav Klimt
Museum is free after 4 pm but it gets very crowded. Altho my granddaughter took pics of almost everything she viewed, exhibits would be easier & faster to view if cameras were not allowed; too many people taking pictures & selfies was distracting, almost irreverent to the magnificent works of art.
The Museum of Art. Prepare your visit, as some entire levels could be made unavailable due to temporary exposition set up
Getting up and down the levels and out tur door is a bit of a confusing ride. But, the art on display is generally exciting and worth seeing. Obviously.
Wonderful exhibition. Greatest artists from all over the world.
Multiple floors with some huge artists and very interesting rotating exhibits. A must see.
Check the seasonal exhibit first, sometimes it's not worth the crowd.
Such q beautifully designed museum and the exhibits are always well curated.
Not a big fan of modern art normally, but this museum really surprised me. Had a great time there.
Very beautiful museum. I went on Friday when it was free and it was packed which is understandable but you almost get rushed through to each section so if you want to take in the art than buy a ticket. Also the outdoor sculpture area was closed so we missed out on an amazing exhibit.
The museum is very well organized and looks great. I do not like modern art myself but they had so many different pieces that even i enjoyed. Student discounts are available.
One of the greatest museums in NY, a must see attraction! Definitely dedicate a whole day to visit, is very big and has many beautiful things to see.
Expansive exhibits. Many glibal interpretations of modern art.
I I visited it on Friday night that offers free admission. The collections of art are amazing!! You can't miss it when you visit New York city.
Always a treat to go to the MET it s a must visit for anyone.
Really nice museum, front desk lady was extremely nice and told us to wait 10 minutes to get a discount, however one of the ushers was extremely rude while walking through the exhibit.
A must for everyone! The renovations were a total improvement on an already outstanding museum!
A must see with greatest paintings an amazing collection. Lines for tickets are fast enough and you should have at least 3-4 hours to visit its main attractions. There is a fine restaurant-coffee shop inside.
Great selection of art. Stunning selection. Make sure to go on a normal day (not the free voluntary Friday). The museum's shop is iconic and the sold articles there are known around the world.
Beautiful collections, very clean and organized place.
It is a nice place. But I say you really must be into "Modern Art" to truly appreciate. I am more a traditionalist art lover, so my goto is the Metropolitan Art Museum.
One of my favorite museums in the city. The collection is very extensive, but never overwhelming, although I'm not sure you can take in everything in one visit. I enjoy their special exhibits, and I appreciate that they highlight areas such as graphic design and product design that other museums often pass over. They also have a lot of film screenings, and the gift shop is a favorite.
One of the best museums in the world. Take your phone and headphones to use their free system to learn while viewing the world best artwork expositions
This the MoMA, even if you consider yourself as a non artsy person, you will have a great time here exploring some of the most iconic pieces of modern art. Van Gogh, Picasso, DeChirico, Warhol, are some of the artists you can find here.
Not much of an art guy, but the building was beautiful. I particularly enjoyed the Picasso room.
Make sure to bring your student card! Discount
My daughter and I were members and we able to enjoy the many exhibits on this play. Very well situated and great exhibits.
Lovely museum with loads of classic works of art, all the greats like Kahlo, Warhol, Haring and much more. Audio guide is available for free and highly recommended. The museum is quite traditional with white walls and paintings, a bit more interactive stuff wouldn t hurt. Don t miss the shop on the way out, the one in the museum is like a big classic museum shop. Across the street there s a more design focused shop as well, visit both if you have the time.
Crowded but nice.. interesting temporary exhibitions.. not very clear the floors organization
One of the best museums in the world. What else can you say?
This is Adriber I will always provide the best and honest reviews. Friendly customer service. Very clean and organize place. If you like art and have time you can visit this place. As always I'm the firm believer of quality over quantity. This is my review and remember always look for adriber for the best and honest review.
I will never understand modern art. Go here only for the Starry Night. The restrooms are smelly, must be some modern art experience for your nostrils.
Great art collection - Picaso, Giacometti, Warhol, Kowalski, Frida, Dali, Klee, Van Gogh... Building itslef is contemporary with beautifull park on the midle.
If you have a NYC id, free annual membership, very worthwhile. I like coming on a weekday less people and being a member lets you skip the line and go straight into the exhibits!
One of the best collections in the country. Always a fantastic visit.
A must do when visiting New York. Considering the amount of masterpiece present it takes time to visit the entire museum but certainly worth it.
The one star less are for 2 downsides:
1. Some area might be in renovation and no information is clearly mentioned about the artipiece that are not displayed.
2. Left from the entrance is a place to leave your umbrella. DON'T, mine was stolen
Always a pleasant visit because of their permanent collection. There are usually solid special exhibits. I was pleasantly surprised by a photography collection by an artist I hadn't heard of. Great in the summer, and to avoid bad weather in winter although that is the busiest time of year. The gift shop is always fun. If you want to splurge a bit, the cafe is good, too.
a lot af galleries closed
design departement is small, loveless & dirty
for paintings there are a lot of more attractive and specivied galleries around the world
expensive and rather underwhelming
Great museum. So much to see. Take your time to visit this museum.
They have something here, very eclectic you can't see it all in a day. I need to criticize the accessibility though. Surprised they don't have escalators. Elevators are inadequately slow, small and few.
The collection at Museum of Modern Art is hard to rival a lot of very well-known pieces intermingled with more new pieces and changing exhibits. Take a look at the pictures I posted which was the visiting exhibit definitely worth your time to check out
If you only had one museum to see in New York it should be this one. Great collection of different kinds of art. I didn't know but Van Gogh Starry Night is here and so is a huge Monet. Central location. Lots of great photos.
First museum like this, pretty interesting all around, we didn't spend as much time here as we did at the natural history museum though.
Got student discounts and the gift shop has some moderately priced items that will allow you to take home some part of the experience.
i tried to touch the paintings but big men took me out
Become a member to see previews without crowds. Always interesting exhibits
Very charming well organized gallery. The audio devices worked really well.
What can you say about this amazing nyc institution? Its a go-to must for tourists and natives alike. Gets busy so go early in the day. Permanent collection is stunning and thoughtful.
Very nice exhibitions, some beautiful and some weird. Like any museum I get lost quickly without a map. I just wish security would back off sometimes. FYI CUNY students enter free.
Just re-opened. I hadn't seen it before but it's very nice, good collection of art, not too busy (Saturday afternoon) and free audio guides and clokeroom available
Too much to do in one day. Amazing exhibits, both regular and special. Well worth the time and admission price.
An interesting art, with modern pieces ranging the gamut from the well known Picasso and Van Gough, to more esoteric truly modern pieces. Most of the "well known" art exists on the 4th floor, where the Starry Night resides. Although they are one of the NY museums that has done away with suggested donations, Friday nights at the museum are free
Great day with the kids. Lots to talk about and stimulate the mind
Always a great visit ... lots to enjoy! Can't wait to go again!
Naturally, this is one of the best museums in the world, with some of the most popular art pieces in the world. While amazing, it also gets crowded as hell - so just prepare to do some elbowing while admiring Pollock and Picasso.
Such a great place to visit. has it's busy times so try to be smart.
First visit since renovated. Enjoyed the layout and change. Betye Saar exhibition was a highlight of the visit.
We were there for the free Friday evening admission. Everything was awesome, and the staff, to a person, were incredibly helpful
On a rainy day near new year, the queues were absolutely insane. Worst museum experience ever simply because of the massive amount of people moving through, crowding around popular artworks to take selfies with them... I am sure it would be wonderful on a quiet day.
A very good place to become familiar with modern art, especially in a culturally open minded city like NYC. Just one problem, the awful crowd on Friday night. The problem doesn't come from the place, but from the stupidly annoying people who come to post selfies on Instagram while talking loudly with their dumb friends.
Went after 4pm on Friday- entry was free. The art is really nice and so is the staff!
It's ok. Modern art is no art, but classical paintings from Van Gogh are a must see.
If you ve never been, the Moma is a really great museum in New York City. What i enjoy about it is that there are lots of different types of art. From sculptures, to social exhibits, to well known artists and their artwork, it s a great to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city and take in the sights on the inside. I ve attached van Gogh s starry night and monet s lillypads which we re absolutely breathtaking. Other notable artist featured when we visited were Matisse, Picasso, Pollock, Seurat, and Cezanne to name a few.
Amazing art collection in an outstanding location in the center of NY. Super cheap if you consider the beauty of it. There s a fantastic cafeteria with a cool view at the top.
We were really impressed by the quality and scale of the exhibits, the no fuss layout and easy bag check.
Although the line up to get in for free was quite long, the staff working there were super friendly and could totally understand our frustration as it was ridiculously hot outside - which added to the impatience as I think we ALL just wanted some air conditioning at that point.
While waiting in line, they handed free Uniqlo event tickets which we did not go to.
The MoMa entrance was quick for us as we didn't check in our bags, and just walked with the crowds to look at each floor's themes. I'd say, your best bet would be to come during a less busier time so you can fully enjoy each work of art with some added time, instead of being rushed to delight in the next painting or what have you; and then also maybe starting from the top down, so you can end back down on the main floor again. That's what worked best for my friend and I.
Something for everyone; glorious garden, cafe and shops. Don't miss the design store across the road!
Only visited the shop on this trip. Lots of interesting and unique items for sale.
If you appreciate art and culture this is the place to visit at least once unless you love love love it then come here twice. It's huge like a "That's what she said" type of joke huge. It's plenty of walking so bring comfortable shoes. They have different exhibits throughout the year so it's great reason to come back again and again. Also the foyer area is probably one of the relaxing places in New York City.
Free Friday nights are a bit of a zoo -- the crowds are 3 and 4 deep in front of the most famous paintings, like e.g. Van Gogh's Starry Night-- but it is also gratifying to see how many people want to see the great art on display and are willing to stand on long lines to do so.
Great museum with a labaryntine layout. Hopefully, the current major renovations will improve this. Definitely, or worth a visit and more.
Start in the morning, take time and enjoy every bits and pieces this great creation provides. Have a look at the shop with great gifts and books available, visit from top to bottom snd catch a breath in the park atrium. Dont miss on the current exhibition Architecture in Yugoslavia and get inspired!
The MOMA is an experience. Everything is a statement, including the binary distinction between art that requires time, perception, effort and skill and the art that requires none of the above.
It is one of the best museums in the world! Definitely a recommended place to visit when in NYC!
One of the greatest museums of the world. The permanent collection on the 5th floor is the history of American and European art in the 20th century.
I feel like I grew up here. So many transformative experiences in these walls. 5 Stars. 1st class.
The one museum you should visit at least once. The collections galleries are extremely good. And, when you see Van Gogh's Starry Night in person, it'll probably change your life forever. That's just one of the literally hundreds of pieces that will blow your mind.
The art here is so unique and creative and is a nice family friendly place
Really enjoyed visiting MOMA. Great to see famous pairing by Picasso and Matisse.
