Nice place. Crazy hours. Warning not to go just before closing.
One of the best museums of the world. You can find masterpieces of Van Gogh, Picasso, Pollock, Monet and so many great artists. If you are in New York, you have to visit MoMA.
Crowded and noisy. Maybe we just went at a bad time, but I expected more from an art museum.
2 stars, but just because we didn't enjoy it. I had wanted to visit a museum while in NYC, but I just didn't get it. Sorry MOMA, not for us.
Great art collection, never disappointed with special events.
the museum is an art itself. but the ticket is the most ugly in the world. jajaja
It's modern art. Not for most of the people. Only go if you know and like it.
The new galleries greatly expanded what is on view. The circulation through the museum is confusing.
A wonderful museum with a great collection. One day is definitely not enough. The store has some really nice things you can get as a souvenir or a gift.
Inspiring, diversified, an architectural landmark with breath-taking works of art and and relaxing gardens... Love it!
Very easy to visit mid sized museum. New world and Old world modern art displayed. Rotating exhibits and very knowledgable tour guides. Cafe with light food. Budget 3 hours for a visit. Ages 15 and under are free of charge.
I was only able to spend two hours, and it was not nearly enough! Truly something for everyone here: familiar names and paintings like Water Lilies as well as new multimedia works. Also had delicious lunch in Cafe 2
Wish it were pay-as-U-wish for NYC folks. i go once a year taking visiting friends. interesting venue
As far as Modern Art Museums goes, this is absolutely one of the best. Such an outstanding permanent collection and great exhibits. In New York there is nothing like going to MoMA, the Whitney Museum, Metropolitan, Guggenheim, Morgan Museum and Library, and New York Historical Society. Thanks to everybody who works so hard at these wonderful museums in New York City.
I have never went to a art museum, it was my first time going on for a school project. I really enjoyed all the different types of art and I was intrigued by it which lead me to sign up for a art course in college!
A must go for art lovers to see amazing sculptures and modern art
Great museum, impressive collection and lots of good shows.
Really cool art museum. Stayed for a few hours, had a snack at the cafe and appreciated the wonderful art work from the likes of Picasso and Monet. Cool gift shop with magnets and bookmarks too!
Great Museum, you can visit for free on Fridays but it gets full of people fast, plus you have to check your bags so you will spend some time having to wait to check them in and check them out so not a quick visit. It has different expos so check out dates in advance.
Great variety of exhibits. Great deal on admission price for military, thanks.
The art is spectacular, the collections are strange, and they host activities eery month to get kids and adults alike more involved with the artwork. Simply marvelous.
Wandering around trying not to cry--so much magic. Actually crying on the top floor thanks to the curator/guard making me hum after viewing the "pretend you don't know what you know" exhibit. Surges of emotion! Excellent way to close, laughing with a handsome guard.
There's no museum quite like the MoMA, from their exquisite collection to the sensitive curation
Great museum. Free audio guide is available and recommend getting it.
What a great family visit we had to this spectacular museum! We had a great time & especially loved the outdoor sculptures
Nice, not great. If you skip it, you will not be missing anything significant. They do have a Cool gift shop that sell overpriced items, some of which are low quality gizmos.
Beautiful museum. Must visit for those interested in the arts.
Incredible range of art. Beautifully displayed. Wonderful daily events with intelligent, articulate and passionate curators. Went on a Monday, so not hugely busy, and totally worth it. Great selection including Picasso, Warhol, Van Gogh, Monet, Pollock. Delightful day spent admiring the art.
Great permanent collections and special exhibits. I was pleasantly surprised to see Starry Night here! I wish it was more affordable though, $25 for one adult is pretty expensive.
Beautifully put together with some truly stunning pieces.
Beautiful museum with a great collection! The docents and security were all very helpful as well. No complaints!
Excellent collection that is well curated. About free admit night: it's an absolute zoo.
Go see the Frank Lloyd Wright at 150 show and marvel at the genuis tyrant's work
Great experience. Good art and the museum is the right size for a half day visit
The Idea of free entrance on Fridays is really good but so many people are coming and it's really hard to focus the art. If you can afford to pay and really interested in art, go on another day, less full of people.
Definitely worth a visit. Not too crowded, even on a holiday weekend.
One of the nicest museums in New York. It's also very accessible for a preteen, to teenager child.
I will visit the MoMA again in the very near future! Lots of stuff to see there!
Always a pleasure to visit this museum. Great temporary and permanent exhibits. I prefer this to just about every other museum in the city. Sculpture garden is fantastic for chilling and people watching.
What can I say, even when this place is under construction, it is still worth going to...
reason why i wanted to visit NYC, houses the famous Van Gogh "starry night"
Lots of great art from Van Gogh's Starry Night to Monet's Waterlillies. The 4th and 5th floors have a nice variety of 'classics' including the above mentioned, while the 2nd and 3rd floors have more creative and truely 'modern' art.
I don't enjoy to go to packed Museums, it's best to go to their smaller branch sites like Moma Ps1
The new MoMA is fantastic. Love the renovation, the cafes, the exhibitions and the galleys with the collections. Also dig the film's it shows.
My favorite space of art curation! This art space is continually in change and flux, that s why I love it. New art, always being installed and the old pieces rotated to give life to the work, and educate the viewer.
Amazing pieces of art in there. Some are truly gems of art. Deffinitely MUST visit when in NYC!!!
This museum is awesome. There are so many awesome things to see here. This is definitely "modern art". The student discount is awesome here. I've been twice and still have so much to see there. Try to go during the free UNIQLO nights!
Not a very big museum, good for half a day visit. When you run out of things to do, try it.
Great museum. Went with member during off hours. Nice way to see it. But so many people regardless. Members are not very nice museum goers.
Very big, interesting exhibitions of a combination of both modern and contemporary art. Good place for people watching. 2 cafes, fine dining, pretty presentation. There's dedicated rest area in most floors. The museum itself is a piece of art. The terrace garden is a gem.
How can you not love it.
Well, sometimes this is made hard by the crowds. This Saturday afternoon we were lucky.
A place of wonders, iconic art works from all the greats under one roof. Avoid the third floor, it's full of pretentious people holding their chins staring at stuff that looks like my cat has thrown up on the floor. Everything else is superb
Loved it. I left almost without the ability of walking trying to watch the most... impossible by the way, but fun to try, unless your left knee starting hurting and you basically have to limp your way through... not recommend like that.
Incredible Art. Friendly staff. Good food! As a disabled person, I loved that they had wheelchairs available for free. I got to enjoy the museum much more that way. Also, pick up the audio tour. It is easy to use and provide just enough info for the less knowledgeable to learn but not be overwhelmed.
It's MoMa! Come here to see so many of the great modern works you see in art books. Fewer tourists than The Met and a much more serious atmosphere. A must for artists and aficionados alike. I love that you can really get right up to the art.
Although it's worth at least one visit for its collection, the entrance fee is too high. The MET is free (pay at your discretion) and has an extensive collection of beautiful artifacts and art.
I saw so little art that was any interest. Some just outrageous. Was here about 7 yrs ago, and found exhibits much more artistically important. I'm sorry to have spent the 61.00 at this museum, and the time walking from port authority for a disappointing destination!
I don't know why this museum has high ratings. There is nothing to see except some popular pictures. Of course everything depends on person's taste, may be you will like it.
The art formation in here is excellent. You can take some good shots in every place.
I can't really begin to explain how strange I think modern art is, so I won't. As for the museum... It's a nice place with plenty to see. Not in the same league as the Met, but it depends on your taste. There are some interesting pieces in MoMA and entry is free, so it's worth checking out if you're in the city to explore some new things. I probably wouldn't go back, but that's no fault of the museum - simply my lack of desire to see a painting that's just a blank canvas with a green stripe around it.
Pretty cool exhibits. I'm no modern art pro, but definitely interesting. There is a really nice outdoor courtyard
Do not go on Fridays (free entrance). We went that day and we couldn't see that much art because it was super crowded.
Great collection of Modern Art. Good they are still exhibiting during the remodeling. The Joan Miro is very, very nice.
I love this place. Everything is displayed nicely and you're able to purchase a ton of souvenirs. They have a wonderful selection of art books with pictures from some of the world's favorite artists but be prepared to spend money, everything here is pretty pricey. The museum's anniversary book was $75.00. I almost decided to buy it but again, pricey. I couldn't bring myself to spend that on a book. Otherwise, it's a wonderful place to spend the day with family or friends.
Nice permanent collection. The building is large but they have somehow made it feel very un-grand (is that a word)?
If you have ever been to the Tate Modern or the D'Orasy, MOMA will leave you underwhelmed.
FANTASTIC!!!!!!! Go if you ever have the chance. Its collections are better than I ever imagined.
The best Modern Art Museum in the world! Just don't go on a weekend, if you can avoid it. It's super crowded then
Some very ummm.. interesting art pieces here. The top floors where the permanent collection is was great. Just seeing Starry Night made it worth it but there are some other great pieces to see as well.
It was as great as the MET, I really like the 5th floor with Picasso and Van Gogh
Amazingly put together exhibits and a great layout make this probably the best art museum I've ever had the opportunity to visit. There is a vast number of collections across the six floors and one can spend hours exploring. Make sure to get there early to avoid the coat check line, which can get quite sizeable during the afternoon.
Recommend the 5th floor, worth waiting in the queue when entering for free.
The NYC MoMA does not disappoint. The small entrance hides a much larger and open internal space, with several world famous works organised in rooms by theme. Well organised cloakroom and staff who are genuinely interested in art and sharing it with the world.
The new space is vibrant and crisp, emphasizing the art encapsulated within
There's art there. I'm an artist. What's not too like?
Could spend HOURS in MoMA. Wonderful collections and a great layout. Free one day of the week.
Amazing. Plan to spend the day here if you're into art. So much to look at
One of the best museum in NYC. If you like Monet or Van Gogh must come to visit.
It's a museum! There's lots of modern art!
More seriously, many of the most influential works of art - especially paintings - of the past century and a half ish live here. The building is beautifully architected, and the people who work here are super helpful. Highly recommended.
Really big. Amazing exhibitions. Small bookshop. Get busy so go early. Places to sit and rest. Toilets were clean and nice. Bag storage too.
