Great modern art museum in the midst of a major renovation. Once the renovations/expansion has been completed next year, things will be fine, and I'm hoping they will then bring back the architecture gallery.
Wonderful pieces of art. Probably the best collection anywhere. A must see. Go during a uniqlo friday
Great selection of modern art - floors 1-4 mostly had galleries dedicated to an artist and the 5th floor then was the money floor where you can find all the really well known paintings. Worth the $25 and the 1.5 hours spend there.
Contemporary art as it is. We came on Friday around 6 pm and it was very crowded.
MoMA doesn't disappoint. Great permanent collection and the exhibit we went to see was very worthwhile.
As always amazing
However, it was free Friday night so crowded beyond comprehension....
Probably some of the best spent money on our NYC trip. To be able to almost touch Starry Night was unbelievable. Able to get so super close to dozens of other masterpieces is really priceless. A $25 admission fee is so remarkably cheap to see all this greatness. Such an amazing building filled with such amazing art. Bravo MOMA.
Interesting exhibits, still very much under renovation right now though.
Nice place ! Go there on Friday from 4 to 8 it s uniqlo free tickets around.
New layout post renovations and redesign. I went to previous new renovation and layout....10, 15 yrs ago? Was a Thanksgiving weekend. Unlike the previous version I was frustrated by the...to me...almost incoherent groupings. Maze like rooms, no perceivable logic in rooms or between. Sparse, cavernous. I always find individual pieces to stop and look at w attention. I'm not a walk thru and see everything museum goer, esp for 1 this size. I just know those Brancusi sculptures must be in there somewhere. I couldn't find them, although by that point--I hadn't just encountered as I walked around--my search was not diligent. If I live long enough maybe I'll see them again, but after a corrective renovation. I hope it's soon.
Pro : Incredible art and very good security. Con : on 2nd fl small coffee shop on left side if I can 1 Star only, because not friendly,(I means both r rude) we r paying customers($4.00 each cup). If u don t like parsons look, this job is not for u ,OR u need to learn customer service training again. You r ruin MOMA reputation. Below couple Photo of coffee shop and receipt.
Updated MoMa is so much fun. Still maintains its feeling of closeness to the art, but there is more space. And a good scattering off new shows and MoMa owned artwork. Good for a few hours or a couple of days!
It s always crowded. The exhibition guide and crowds congestion control is bad
Great place. I only had a few hours and could have spent a few days looking at every piece and exhibit. They even had live dancers when I went. Can't wait to go back.
Great collection of art, crowded as to be expected and definitely recommend buying tickets before hand
If you can, avoid the free ticket, impossible to enjoy and contemplate. But an excellent infrastructure and good service.
Love this place! Great exhibits and selections. Enjoyed the modern and the classics as well. One of the best Museum stores I have been to.
A must visit in NYC, reasonable priced, huge museum with multi floors, cafe, stores, and courtyard
Amazing art work on show here....You could spend an entire day here just wandering this beautiful building.
Excellent world class museum that you should visit once in your life before you die. I like the Van Gogh paintings and the Ancient Greek and Roman stuff. You could spend a week here and would not see everything.
Bought this amazzing looking Fellow Kettle at the MOMA store. It is so nice that it is the only item allowed to stay on the counter perminently in our London Minimum home. Thier products are a must have.
an amazing experience and you have to make sure not to miss small paintings along all those great classics! Rothko and Pollock are so impressive when you see them live. It's definitely one of my favourite activities in nyc.
LOVED the impressionist art! Very busy during free admission, I recommend starting on the upper floors and working your way down.
Beautiful art pieces, they have a range of works from influential artists like Monet, Van Gogh, Cezanne, Matisse and etc... Definitely come here if you love art. They currently have an exhibition called "Is fashion modern?". Really thought that was a great too (really thought provoking). Be wary with the swarms of tourists around Van Gogh's Starry Night though.
Tips: currently, you can enter for free on Friday evening thanks to Uniqlo friday nights.
Really good and modern museum for the wildest art lovers in all of Manhattan. It is very good for groups and it doesn t cost a lot of money for admission even though it s free on Friday nights which is sponsored by Uniqlo. It is pretty worth for the price as there are some cool and intriguing paintings as well as exhibits relating to modern art. If you love art and want to know more about its history, go to this museum.
You probably either like or dislike mondern art before checking this - it is still with a look if you're open to these things, if you have time and an open mind, check it. It is good if you like these things
This Museum is amazing, it has all my favorite artist works all around, for me this is a temple for inspiration, It was my dream when I was in the university and when I visit this museum I felt that I keep continue believe in my dreams. Great installations and amazing works of art.
Loved it but maps need to be more informative. No idea what is on each level.
Very good art museum. Free of you are a new york college student (CUNY as far as I know). lots of art to look at
This is definitely a must-visit if you love clever designs and interactive art installations. Let your imagination flow appreciating the art while you marvel at the practical smart applications of design thinking of gifts sold at their gift shop.
first time back since reopen. great.museum, but much of the newer art is not to my taste
Another mandatory stop in NYC. It has a lot of masterpieces and a really cool store. Really impressed with the pieces of Picasso, Van Gogh, etc, etc, etc.......
Plenty of things to see during your visit here. First time going and could have spent hours looking around. Price for entrance is reasonable and the wait to order tickets is only a few minutes. Lots of floors with all kinds of things. Be warned though, Starry Night is probably the most sought after attraction so expect there to be some congestion in it's area. Lots of well known artists and plenty of room to move around. Has elevator access and even it's own coffee bar inside. Lots of rest areas as well. Would recommend visiting if you have free time.
MOMA was a nice museum. I went on a free evening so it was very busy. I was surprised how large it was and how many different exhibits there were. I think it's definitley worth stopping by if you're in NYC. They also have a gorgeous courtyard and a restuaunt that looked very interesting. Although we did not eat there
Many masters - don't visit when raining aka overcrowded
Houses wonderful pieces of art. Each with its own history/story. I can walk around this place for hours.
If you are in NY, MoMA is a 'must see' point if interest. If you live art, then you 'have to'. There is no possibly of being disappointed.
Went on Uniqlo free Fridays and amazed by the art and sheer size of the place. Some great pieces available for viewing and worth the time if you have a few hours to spare.
Super trendy and really interesting. The layout was very clear, and the intended walkthrough experience was intuitive. Great place!
4 floors of art elevators and escalators area for kids to create their own unique art a cafe ,and parking close by
Amazing museum. 5th floor has Van Gogh and Frida Kahlo!
The art collections are amazing! The way the museum is set up is a little confusing, and it's not a continuous flow but that's ok.
Awesome place! Too much to see, too much to enjoy and learn.
Take your children over there it is very good. If you looking for knowledge it is the place
We love the MOMA, love seeing pieces of work I've appreciated for years and also getting to share it with my children. Even when there is a crowd, it's a museum that has something for every artist or art lover.
Was great to see a lot of the classics. A lot of the modern art is hit or miss
tbh i didn't enjoy it very much. its overprized and the themes aren't mine. only the picture from Van Gogh got me.
I have been to MoMA twice. The first time I was there for half a day...there was just so much to look at. Went back with my kids recently and spent just a couple of hours there. A lot of the spaces were blocked off... maybe for set up? I am not sure. In any case it was still a good visit and its one place I encourage my kids to visit the gift shop because that is interesting and arty too!
Very first place I went with my girlfriend and it was incredible.
I don't really know what else to say. It's MoMA, the galleries are incredible.
Go to the fifth floor first so you can spend all day there if you need to, and make time in your day to come back to it.
Poor compared to the good art galleries around the world. 2 pictures that were OK. Lots of pretentious rubbish. Worst thing we saw on our visit to NYC.
The Bruce Conner: It's All True is an amazing exhibit that spans the career of the prolific American artist and allows you to follow his creative evolution. There are a variety of media from paintings to drawings to sculptures to films on display, and his work in rich in complexity and rife with social commentary. Definitely worth a visit before it moves on. As always, you can also enjoy the permanent galleries which are filled with works by Van Gogh to Mondrian to Dali to Basquiat. And don't forget to pop into the lovely sculpture garden.
Very exciting work. So much to see. The courtyard is beautiful.
If you wanna see art pieces that made history you need to check MoMA collection: Van Gogh, Pollock, Frida, Picasso... It can get really crowded around 4p.m. It's not an expensive museum, but if you want to save money go in summer on the target free Fridays.
We really enjoyed our visit as there is so much to see. However, we thought were lucky to stumble upon the Friday Nights for Free... Crazy crowds, would have rather paid. Then, we were so excited to be able to see Van Gogh's Starry Night... That experience is not the fantasy. It's a shame people can't put down their dang phones long enough to actually experience a masterpiece without having to show everyone they were there...
Love the permanent collection on the fifth floor. So many iconic paintings.
Yeah, it s ok. I m confused about half the stuff here. Plainly artist trying to get a reaction with no meaning. Inside was very hot and uncomfortable. It was raining out so it was very crowded. A few pieces were really cool!
It looks like just about every other museum I've visited. I did see Stary Night, which was cool.
Be aware!
I purchased a necklace from the MOMA online store for over $100, and I received it but not as pictured. I returned it in December, but haven't received a refund. It's been 3 months! Customer service is not cooperative and couldn't provide any clear information regarding my inquiry. I would never ever buy from them!
I'm more of a classic art fan however this museum offers a great experience and interesting exhibits.
What a fantastic place to spend an afternoon. I am told that Moma has free admission on Fridays after 4 PM. The art is beautifully displayed, and logically laid out. The special exhibit on the 6th floor was intense. I had an amazing 4 hours in this special place. Restrooms are clean, and the staff is friendly, efficient and knowledgeable.
I could easily spend an entire day here. It is wonderful.
Really beautiful museum!
I really liked the third floor, the first two are not on the same level.
REMEMBER: ON FRIDAY ADMISSION IS FREE!
Huge place with lovely work of art. I had a fantastic time even though I went alone. There were a great variety of people and so I didn t feel alone. I felt so alive. Definitely recommend this amazing museum.
Traveling to New York? Make an effort to check out the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). They offer a free entry day on Friday which I found extremely worthwhile. Passionate art-lover to the newbie peruser, MoMA has something for everyone in its six floors. Exquisitely designed from exhibit to exhibit, this museum will have you questioning everything you've held dear to your heart by the end of it. Prepare to feel like Charlie at Willy Wonka's chocolate factory.
Amazing doesn t even begin to describe MoMA! Great for all ages! Their membership is totally worth it too.
I love the way that I can visit it with my daughter (10) the Expo was great, staff and security inside and around is super good. You need to make reservation
This is a must see for NYC museums. Seeing the starry night in person is amazing.
Amazing art work. Not a fan of museums in general, but so glad I visited this
It was remarkable and memorable! Add to your bucket list!
This museum is very good. The Van Gogh painting is really beautiful and you can go close to it. Very mice building and art work. It's not a classic museum but it worth the ticket.
Beautiful space - but there were no squirrels - so here is a photo I took elsewhere - he kept following us and even tried to run up my girlfriends leg - I thought it was so funny, she didn t
Loved this place, audio guides are superb and it's so full of masterpieces that you hardly look where you're walking!
One of my favorite museums in the city go on a Friday night when you can go for free just a warning it does get a bit crowded but it s totally worth it and it makes for a beautiful social setting if you re totally into art
Visited this museum multiple times. Has an amazing collection. My favorite is the Starry Night by Van Gogh and that was also the reason I visited this place the first time, as I wanted to see it. You should take advantage of Bank of America Museums on us if this museum is listed on the first full weekend of the month, as MoMA is not always listed.
One of my favorite museums in Manhattan. From Matisse to Warhol, so much to see. Currently a 1960s exhibit on display by year. Free entry Friday's from 4pm to 8pm.
This place is wonderful but the best paintings start at top floor so reach there first and then cover floors one by one. I wasted time by going 1,2 and so on...
The artwork inside is breathtaking and the space inside is indescribable. One should experience the amazement of MOMA in person to get the full feel of the art and all it has to offer.
Love the classical arts displayed, but I have mixed feelings with the modern art exhibits. Enjoyed the works of those considered pioneers of modern art but as the era progresses I have discovered I started to dislike them. Disliked most are the works of artists from the last 50 or so years
Great great for the art. 4 stars for the museum re-design (emphasis on moving the people through, crowd-management). Still pretty much always crammed.
A must in New York City! Several artists recognized worldwide. We loved our visit. Thank you !!
There is some great art, but you have to really be into modern art to enjoy this place.
A lot of strange things, but also a lot of really well done and thought provoking pieces.
One of the places that are always a great pleasure. On the day we visited the museum, it was snowing and it added a somewhat legendary feeling to it when looking at the sculptures and chairs in the garden. We enjoyed not only the exhibits but also looking at parents with small kids and the way they were introduced to art at its best.
