Interesting museum, different to all. Free entrance every Friday's evening
One of the things I love is the variety of exhibitions here. The space is amazing and the outdoor garden is so peaceful to sit around and chill. The weather being perfect definitely added to the experience and now that it s summer the Thursday night outside concerts are great. Not sure about the snowman though lol
The Museum of Modern Art is a very beautiful museum of contemporary art and a variety of outstanding exhibitions. The many varied exhibits invite you to linger longer in the museum. A clear recommendation for art lovers.
a truly fantastic place I never knew so many works by great artists were there and I had no time to see all of them unfortunately!
Art - 5 star rating, they have such beautiful collection of art.
Experience - Overcrowded, noisy, and rammed. The crowd made the experience unpleasant, it was so hard to enjoy the art.
The Museum of Modern Art is exactly what the title says, modern art. Although you'll find some older pieces such as The Starry Night, along with many African American inspired pieces somewhere between the second and third floor, most of the art in this museum is difficult to understand. I entered the museum hopeful, I wanted to learn new ways to think about design and art for another project I'm working on, but I left disappointed. Endless halls are filled with what seems like meaningless scribbles and splatters of paint.
5th floor was amazing, everything else wasn't for me.
MOMA a true institution in New York recently visited the miro exhibition and it is as amazing as always, the remodel put it up to par with its world rivals and sets a new standard in work class museums , enjoy a great afternoon here
They should definately do some training on staff courtesy! Specifically for security guys working there. Because those guys has no idea that they work at such place where people of passion visit most. Some of those security are extremly rude and unprofessional. Very bad
Simply superb collection of Modern Art. Loved the way the art is curated and displayed. The ticket price is as per donation but visitors are not informed at the counter. So it's better to ask them.
Really interesting peices on display. Very pricey. $25 general admission. Discounts available for students, kids and seniors.
Some of the art here can be done by a 5 year old. Other than that the place is also crowded but has nice views.
Door staff were super rude which just spoilt the whole experience for me which was a shame.
One of the best museums in the world. Rotating expositions which will set you in a different mindset.
It gets really crowded on free admission days.
Well done renovation (writing in Feb 2020). Easy to navigate. Feels like there is more room to roam now.
Great museum, exhibits/installations change all the time, would go again
Fantastic collection and presentation. Loved the Modern, their eatery, too.
Loved the starry night by Van Gogh and the Charlie White paintings
Amazing art! Too bad this museum is haunted. After walking around for a while I had the urge to go to the loo, and I couldn't help but feel a cold presence following me. I brushed it off thinking it was just the aura of all the Trump supporters I encountered at the museum. I entered the stall and did my deeds, as I went to wash my hands I saw the reflection of Frida Kahlo staring back at me. Chills went down my spine from the shock. For a second I thought it was someone cosplaying her but when I turned around there was no one. The images are alive I tell you, be careful if you dare enter this prison of souls. Also the food is overpriced :)...
Excellelent exhibitions but noisy due to number of visitors
5 floors of modern art, what more could you want? The staff is friendly and extremely knowledgeable.
I was underwhelmed by the size and the high pricing being used to free museums in the UK. Really not even half as impressive as I imaged it to be. A few cool paintings and probably still worth going there but "spending" an afternoon was over after 2 hours. I guess you could spent more time in it but I didn't find that much art that I was overly into.
Fabulous! Wish I had more time to see every inch of this museum.
Enjoyable museum with work from plenty of well known artists. It took use half a day to see the entire collection. Well worth a visit on a rainy day in New York.
Nice audio guide... Great art! Good food... We took a full day and loved it!
World class collection of modern Art in a beautiful building. Great bar too
Great museum. Can be expensive. New York ID gets you a free one year membership
Like 50% of this museum was closed and they gave us no warning. What was open was really great.
Buy tickets in advance and go on a week day! This is a great museum to play hooky and take a day off work. Block buster art, their collection is like reading an 20th century art history text book.
There's a reason it's a famous museum. Lots of famous paintings. Very nice museum.
breathtaking and thought inspiring museum full of masterpieces
One of the most iconic museums. 5 floors, garden, restaurant, shop and 2 cinemas that plays movies about art and design. It is very crowded on Thursday, since is free entrance. Nice place to go by yourself or take someone for a date :)
We went on free Friday, unbeknownst to us. Being that it was cold and rainy outside, it was our best option for the afternoon. Too bad half of NYC had the same idea. Some of the most famous paintings in the world are there, a must see!
The museum of modern art has some of the best artwork I ve seen. The MoMa has some of the internationally famous paintings and artwork that in which are widely known today. This museum also has a great variety of items in its stores not only does the museum store have great items the design stores as well being some of the best places to buy great gifts for others and items for yourself
Really interesting, and lots to see if you're an art lover -- some items which one needs to really appreciate art to understand, so I for one don't. Their art pieces are definitely worth seeing, but check to make sure the art you're interested in seeing is being exhibited, as they do rotate them around and do lend out art. Overall, worth seeing if you're in NYC.
Definitely planning a third trip soon, very nice atmosphere but can get busy. Staff is friendly and of course the art is lovely
Amazing collection. Special exhibit of Charles White's work was brilliantly curated.
Loved the 5th floor (Van Gogh, Matisse, Cezanne, etc) and I appreciated the free admission for active duty military.
Of course it's something you have to see...it's moving, historical and modern all at once. It's so exciting to experience the real thing right in front of you, instead of a picture of a picture or a painting or sculpture in a book. Hopefully you, too, will be drawn back again and again!
All the greatest hits of modern art in one place - Pollock, Mondrian, Van Gogh, Monet, Picasso, Rothko, Warhol...
Building is an awesome piece of architecture in a great location, and the staff are also really friendly despite how busy they are
They have a great mid-century modern section that's a permanent display and free Fridays (thanks, Uniqlo!) Obviously tons of great modern art too - permanent and rotating collections. I highly recommend a visit.
Great place for contemporary art. Was impressed with art collections. Best place to visit in New York.
Friday afternoons entry is For free.
There is one Floor with a fantastic collection, I personally didnt Like the temporary exhibitions
Amazing museum with world class pictures of the most amazing artists. It's recent re opening including artists from different cultures is breathtaking
Too many lines and anything you want to see if packed 20 deep
The Frank Lloyd Wright exhibit is amazing! What a visionary, so happy to see his work in detail.
Awesome experience. Really crowded on the free admission day.
Different than I expected, but it was great. With its 6 floors it's large, but quite some places were under construction.
Carve out an entire day to spend in the MOMA with a lunch or coffee break to rest your legs. Ask the security guard by Starry Night if he can tell you about the painting. He is a treasure trove if information.
Love coming back! Always spirit lifting. Chef Pachi
Free Friday nights!!! Insecurities: Tracing Displacement and Shelter, is a MUST-SEE. Powerful. Many wonderful exhibits up now. (A few of the guards can be a tad bit rude, but I understand their need to protect the art.)
Lovely place, great artwork. Security is a bit abrupt but amazing scenery. Friday free tickets which you can't miss! Wear comfortable shoes and enjoy!
Love this museum! I ve been twice and was very impressed both times. Student tickets were $12 and I was able to purchase online and walk right into the museum when I got there (Friday around opening time). There s a great coat/bag check system as well as a cafe inside. Cool gift shops both inside the museum and across the street.
If you like and understand the art is the perfect place to visit if you don't maybe you can use the time in another place.
Seeing world famous works in reality, up close, can't be beaten
the best thing in the museum is the top floor and the van gogh starry night painting.
witch located on the top floor, the other art in that museum its just not an art!
No had curators, so many people in gallery.
The spectators were in a disorderly mood and the traffic was twisted.
Another audio service is just explain a few artwork so i think MOMA should be able to expand to that system.
Gotta love this place, so many things for know Picasso, Van Gogh art!! just amazing! besides it was free on Friday!!
The art you always see in photo, now in real life. The best paintings, Monet, Cezane, Van Gogh, just crazy
Great collection. Very busy when I went on a Saturday.
Many masterpieces! Van Gogh, Monet, Picasso and more! Highly recommended.
Absolutely incredible, full stop. The Adrian Piper exhibit on the sixth floor brought me to tears and I'm usually not one to be brought low by art like that. Her use of simple phrases paired with stark imagery made her pieces truly something to be witnessed. Don't miss this exhibit!
It's a great art museum with almost 6 floors. There's also some restaurants and Cafe.Lots of famous art works are in this museum.
Got in for free w military id. Really cool exhibits, great little cafe, great experience over all of you're looking for a smaller museum/dont have time for the Met.
It s nice but don t make a mistake and go on Friday it s hell. You can t enjoy anything too much people
I'm not usually a big fan of modern art, but the MoMA surprised me a little bit. They had an exhibit on the work of Frank Lloyd Wright that was pretty cool, and the "video games as art" exhibit really appealed to me. Plus, how can you dislike a museum that has Van Gogh's Starry Night? Still, if I had to choose, give me the Met over the MoMA every day of the week and twice on Sundays.
Must see - beautiful and unique collection of modern art. It was just a pity as 2 floor were close to public visit due to renovation. Definitelty recommended
The famous MoMA didn t live up to my expectations. The place is very crowded so sometimes it s hard to even see an exhibit. The exhibitions themselves are rather simple, tendentious and vapid. Don t get me wrong - MoMA is worth visiting, but don t expect from it too much. It is not avant-garde museum.
Beautiful, well known and always sporting the best artwork. The MoMA or the Museum of Modern Art is the go to place to see modern art from the 1800s onward. The museum has a shop with all sorts of things, so you have a souvenir from your visit or trip to New York. The place is clean, the staff are kind and there are guides who speak multiple languages such as Chinese, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, etc. Overall, I do recommend you come here to see the artwork and enjoy the overall experience.
Its a place for new experiences n u can go with the family.
Plus if u need work whether experienced or not u could apply for work
If you can deal with crowds which, if you've been in NYC any length of time you know you must, then this is must-see Museum. Just to gaze at Pollock, Matisse, and Picasso, not to mention the often extraordinary installation works, like when a Chinese man organized and displayed his hoarder-mothers belongings. It was beautiful, ineffable. ***PRO-TIP: go in summer on the Target Free Fridays. Plan to stand in line about 30+ minutes. But save money.
Of course, MoMA has a truly world-class collection, and generally has very interesting temporary exhibits. The problem is the design of this museum--it is about as unflattering to the collection as it possibly could be. The layout seems to intentionally crowd attendees together to the point of discomfort, making you want to rush through what could otherwise be an incredible experience. I hope/wish the MoMA expansion project is able to do something about this.
Amazing collection of modern art, stunned every time!
It is simply lovely and overwhelming. This should honestly be seen over a few different visits so you can truly appreciate these works of art.
The man who sold me my ticket scoffed when I told him I came from upstate NY. Then I was pushed out of the way so someone could snap a selfie with the Starry Night.
Came on rainy day. Too crowded. I'm short and had difficulty getting close to read & see. Great we are able 2 take pics. Got hollered at by guard 4 drinking from my water bottle 4 health prob..I'm not a child not drinking near any art, etc. Could not find sev artists I was looking to see. The MOMA store was 2 of the 3 stars actually. Always wanted 2 come but disappointed.
It was a pleasure to visit the MoMA the past week. The Tarsila do Amaral show is splendid!
