I don't love modern art, so that was a bad start. But, the entrance and ticket area was overwhelmingly confusing and disorganized. We bought our ticket, then had to backtrack to get to the galleries after showing our ticket to a man in an undesignated area. The various floors had no continuity nor did they make any sense. I wish we hadn't paid so much to enter!! The only redeeming quality was the Frank Lloyd Wright exhibit and Andy Warhol art. Impressive!!

Currently under renovation but 'less is more' is just fine with me. The art currently packed in to the reduced space must be the greatest single collection on public display in the world.

I thought it was free entrance, but I was mistaken by their definition of "free." You pay for a ticket, the exhibits are free. Why not just say buy tickets to enter?

I still had a good time.

Great museum

Great museum
Lots of interesting (slightly strange) art and sculptures.
Children (under 16) are free and and on Fridays after 4pm everyone is free

The first time I went there I spent 3 hours on a single floor before I had to leave.

Features famous paintings from 'The Starry Night' to 'The Persistence of Memory' to Jackson Pollock to Piet Mondrian to Pablo Picasso.

One exhibit had a room of hanging white squares at eye level in a long row. As I looked into the room I noticed many people staring, inspecting, and even taking photos of the individual squares. I was utterly confused as to what people were finding so interesting about the squares, so I went to take a closer look. When I walked in front of one of the squares I realized what was fascinating. The squares were actually some sort of sound laser, so that if you stood directly facing one, you could hear a loud voice, but step to the left or right and you will hear almost nothing.

The museum has a wide variety of art and it laid out in a very approachable way. Even if you never studied art, you will appreciate and learn about the works and perhaps recognize a few familiar works.

The Brancusi sculpture gallery is my favorite and I could spend hours in there.

There is a free night, but it is very busy and you may have a difficult time viewing the works.

There's also a small gallery next to the industrial design exhibits where you can play with different designs and sit in some classic chairs, including a Eames Le Chaise

The building an the escalators aren t very efficient for people to flow. The free hours on Friday is flooded with people taking photos of arts and selfies exhibits are okay. They keep changing. Fifth floor has the legendary painters works.

25 per person and free for people under 16 is a little pricey to see garbage hung on a wall. The older, more famous paintings are great to see but everything else is random materials thrown together and called art. Kids probably wouldn't like it due to the extensive visuals rather than interactivity. Pets aren't allowed. I walked through in 30 minutes. Most take hours here

you don't have to understand it all but it's a really neat place at the forefront of modern art in design and in terms of it's collection. go see a starry night and some water lillies and have a nice time

Went for an event with my wife had incredible time. Charles White exhibition. Open air courtyard provided fantastic views and ambiance. the live DJ was on point. Very eclectic crowd made for great people watching. The horderves I really could have done without. Random popcorn bowls and other "Where your hands been?" type passes. Other than that it was Super Cool.

Really nice, is one of the things that if you're in New York you have to see. there are many really famos and important artistic work, like the starry night of Vincent Van Gogh and many Picasso's painting

This was an amazing experience, it was a little crowded compared to all the other museums we visited but that was to be expected. You should definitely set aside at least a half day to a full day to fully experience the MoMA.

Probably my favorite in the museum category of NYC. They have a meandering layout that you can walk through... although some of our party had trouble finding specific locations or areas so it may be best to just stroll through. It takes about 3 hours to get through the exhibits. Even the free, public exhibits are amazing! Some fun and interactive exhibits, art installations that make you feel both large and small. It s a great place.

Awesome art museum. The collection here is fantastic. There's so much to see and take in that you need several visits to get it all. My only regret is that I didn't have more time to spend wandering about in this fabulous museum.

If you like modern art, this is the place for you! There are many chairs to sit on as you admire the art, plus information desks on every floor that provide you with multi-lingual maps and headsets (with an iPod-thing with numbers on it to listen to what was the thought process behind each art piece). The gift shop is nice and quirky.

We went on a Friday= yay! Free afternoon and. HOLY CANNOLI...that's a lot of people. I did see some pieces that were worth the wrestle. Jackson Pollock and Van Gogh. But also other pieces that were "modern" that quality of art varies between people

Who doesn't love the MOMA. No one ever leaves here dissatisfied. Excellent works of art with great installations throughout the year. If you visit come early so you can get the entire museum in. The outdoor space is fantastic, has been one of my favorites since my childhood. Fridays from 4-8 it's free. If you're a student in one of the many universities in NYC then you can enter for free by showing your valid student id.

I'm not a huge fan of modern art and wasn't all amazed by MoMA, which would be expected. Staff was pretty unfriendly and moody. There was plenty to see if you're a fan of this art. A lot of school kids wandering around, they really didn't care for anything. Please don't take your class out here because it's not interesting for them.

This was amazing. Being able to get up close to artwork from Picasso, Van Gogh, and many others really blew me away. Even though I am not someone who understands art, I still had a really great time and appreciated what I was seeing. I plan on going back and would definitely take the time to do the audio tour.

Went with my 2 boys (age 11 and 8), it was very interesting and great to see famous pieces of art. My 8 year did get board, but they have seating areas in each area. Took about 2-3 hours for us

Great selection. A must if you are in New York. Try to avoid the crowds. If you need a break and a glass of vine, choose the more affordable italian restaurant across the street. good tapas and allround vines.

Went on the free Friday night opening. Large crowds as you would expect. At 6.15 the queue extended almost around the whole block but moved surprisingly fast and we were inside in 25 minutes.
The paintings are fabulous and so many of them. With such large crowds it was difficult to see the paintings. Consequently may be better to pay and have a good view. And the 3 hours free is not really enough time to see everything unless you are targeting some specific things.

Family took a trip into the city to get some culture. We decided to visit MoMa and had a great time. It was a little crowded but, it was still worth the trip. One of the best collection of art around.

What can I say? This is the modern art lovers dream museum. Exhibits are extensive and well put together. They have frequent rotating special exhibits that keep things fresh. Get a membership if you're a local. It's worth it and you can bring guests for $5 per person.

I recommend a minimum of two hours to see the current collection, longer once the new area opens I'm sure. I've been to art museums across the world, and this gives a taste of what it's like. I loved the collection, but it was less than I expected as a few exhibits were closed. In comparison to London's Tate Modern, MoMA has a similar yet but upscale vibe about. Definitely recommend coming if you're a fan of modern classics, but check what exhibits are happening in NYC first if you're short on time and have more specific tastes.
