I was in town for the weekend in Jacksonville and I tried Metro diner and it was a great experience. The flavorful chicken and waffles was great and my fiancee said the chicken was the best chicken she had hands down especially with the special sauce it came with. Definitely a spot to eat at twice for the weekend.

Really delicious, with some of the friendliest service I've experienced. Only problems were that the food was a bit on the greasy side, and our mac and cheese came out cold the first time. Definitely a great restaurant however.

My friend took me here a couple months ago and I can't get enough! I'm obssessed w the Bold City Burger (I sub a veg burger & don't miss the beef! P.S. I'm no vegetarian, it's just that good!) Not only is the food AMAZING, the portions are huge and the price is RIGHT! Service is amaze balls (and I don't just say that about any ol diner lol). You won't be disappointed! But if you happen to be less-than-in-love w your food, they gladly exchange, no questions. So in love with this place!

Not as good as these reviews would have you believe. My steak was chewy. Eggs aren't fresh. Hash browns are not as good as other breakfast spots. Fish taste like cheap frozen quality.. It wasn't nasty but I won't come here again. There's much better diners around town.

As always the food was great. Piping hot with next to no wait for it to be brought to the table. Our server Clint was very attentive and kept our drinks full and made sure everything was to our liking. The meal of choice today was the meatloaf plate with meatloaf and gravy accompanied by seasoned zucchini and squash and mashed potatoes. I love the way they sear a nice crust on the meatloaf it holds the gravy in place to me. Saw cornedbeef hash on the menu so had to give it a try. Now I love that stuff that comes in a can, but this here ladies and gents is the real deal. Fresh potatoes and chunks of real cornedbeef. Pan fried and seasoned to perfection. Only thing missing was a bowl of cheese grits. Everything was very tasty will definitely be back again soon.

First, the food was good. That's why I gave it 2 stars. Now the bad and there is a lot of it. It was busy with a wait line. No deduction for that. BUT, there were many empty tables and employees wandering around with no seeming purpose. They would call out a name several times and even once went to parked cars looking for that person. Bus boys stood around with empty dirty tables while what appeared to be the manager ran around doing the busing and cleaning. I stopped and asked why he let the bus boys loaf while he did all the work. He said he was a manager-in-training and had no authority. I asked to see the manager and guess what, there was no manger on duty. My wifes sandwich sat in the window for more than 20 minutes. When we finally got our waitress attention and asked about the sandwich in the window she assured us that it wasn't hers. They threw that sandwich away and she came back and told us they were making her a new sandwich. All this time my wife still hadn't gotten her salad. I asked why and the waitress thought my wife would want it with her sandwich but never bothered to ask up front. Total incompetence all around. Don't waste your time there. I've seen more organization from people leaving a burning building. One of the worst dining experiences I've ever had.

The really sad thing is we were at the Metro Diner in St Augustine the day before. They were just as large and just as busy and yet they ran like the finest Swiss watch. There was a line but no one waited long. No empty tables. Every body hustling. No wasted movement. Food came out pretty quickly considering how busy they were and boy was it good!!! Waitress was great. Everybody was great. A real enjoyable experience. 6 stars for them.

Metro Diner on Jacksonville's Southside should take a trip to St Augustine to learn how a real restaurant is ran.

I finally got to go here after hearing about it from numerous people about how good it was. I'm from Tallahassee in Jacksonville for work and we decided to go here for lunch today. I ended up getting the Monte Cristo sandwich with a side of fries, our waitress let me know that I could also get cheese and bacon on the fries if I so wished. WHY NOT?! The fries by themselves were really good and filling. But the Monte Cristo was really exceptional. The presentation was top notch, there was a ton of food, and of course it was delicious. It comes with a nice and thick raspberry preserve to dip (which was a turn off for me personally considering I don't personally like raspberry preserves, but that's not to detract from this). However they also have grape preserves on the table which I preferred. I consider myself a person who can eat a good bit, but after the fries and half of the sandwich I had to tap out and take the rest home. I was there with a large group of coworkers and the other popular choice is the chicken and waffles. Highly highly recommend. Going to be a must visit when I visit Jax.

We had about a 15 minute wait time, but it was well worth the wait. The food was well prepared and plentiful. The server Jessica was friendly and very attentive. This is my favorite Metro Diner location.

You can not beat the home cooked breakfast and lunch here at this Metro Diner, in my opinion.
The breakfast pie is Heaven on a plate. Unbelievably tasty serving of just about everything you could wish for in a breakfast, all in one single order.
But it is more than just the food itself, is that they cook it exactly how you ask, and seem more than happy to do so.
Great food, great atmosphere, great service, hopefully eventually I will make it there past breakfast and have an opinion on the lunch as well. But for now all I can say is, you cannot beat Metro Diner for one fantastic breakfast experience.

Amazing food, friendly staff, and in a convenient location. Anytime the family wants to meet up for a bite to eat after church this is the go to spot. Be careful of what time you stop by though because it can be a very long wait at certain times of day, especially on the weekends. Yummy food > wait time in my opinion though.

Metro Diner serves everything from eggs and bacon to chicken and waffles to your mother's meatloaf. Good old-fashioned home cooked meals with quality products and huge portions. This is our go-to place whenever we have out of town guests. A Jacksonville home town restaurant that is now branched out across the country. Everything on the menu is great. They're open early but close by 8pm.

This Metro Diner is our family's favorite breakfast spot in Jax. Considering the size of the crowds on Sunday, the staff does a great job and the food is amazing! The manager Owen does a really job managing the place!

I m not a true fan of this place but I have no complaints. The food they serve is great for the people around me but I ve never really found anything I liked. It s not their fault though, I m just picky. The quality of food is good, the cooks like to sing and you can really tell they love their work. The wait staff is very attentive. I ve never had a bad experience.
