First, the food was good. That's why I gave it 2 stars. Now the bad and there is a lot of it. It was busy with a wait line. No deduction for that. BUT, there were many empty tables and employees wandering around with no seeming purpose. They would call out a name several times and even once went to parked cars looking for that person. Bus boys stood around with empty dirty tables while what appeared to be the manager ran around doing the busing and cleaning. I stopped and asked why he let the bus boys loaf while he did all the work. He said he was a manager-in-training and had no authority. I asked to see the manager and guess what, there was no manger on duty. My wifes sandwich sat in the window for more than 20 minutes. When we finally got our waitress attention and asked about the sandwich in the window she assured us that it wasn't hers. They threw that sandwich away and she came back and told us they were making her a new sandwich. All this time my wife still hadn't gotten her salad. I asked why and the waitress thought my wife would want it with her sandwich but never bothered to ask up front. Total incompetence all around. Don't waste your time there. I've seen more organization from people leaving a burning building. One of the worst dining experiences I've ever had.

The really sad thing is we were at the Metro Diner in St Augustine the day before. They were just as large and just as busy and yet they ran like the finest Swiss watch. There was a line but no one waited long. No empty tables. Every body hustling. No wasted movement. Food came out pretty quickly considering how busy they were and boy was it good!!! Waitress was great. Everybody was great. A real enjoyable experience. 6 stars for them.

Metro Diner on Jacksonville's Southside should take a trip to St Augustine to learn how a real restaurant is ran.
