Had never been there. Kinda disappointed with the habitats for animals. The information posted on each animal tells about the habitat they live in. What they had for most animals was nothing like described. However reptiles were awesome. Fun trying to find all the frogs, lizards etc. in their natural habitat. Zoo is also very clean.

Maybe it was the heat, or maybe it was me... but this was the worst zoo I ever visited anywhere in the world. Staff was friendly but hardly animals to see and many of the same species. The abandoned zoo was even more interesting. For me definitely not worth the money.

The City of Los Angeles owns the Zoo, its land and facilities, and the animals. Animal care, grounds maintenance, construction, education, public information, and administrative staff are City employees.

Great place to take the Family, it was nice going g to the zoo at night but a lot of the a imals were sleeping and some were closed off. It is a lot cheaper than the San Diego Zoo. We all enjoyed this Zoo regardless.

I have to say that I was a little skeptical going here for the first time. I have never been to a zoo and I just went to the Los Angeles Zoo for the first time at 40 years old. Not only did the animals put on a show lol they seemed very happy very well taken care of and I went on a weekend I went on a Sunday the tween 11:30 and 1:30. I did not eat because the prices were way too expensive just for a bottle of water or a slice of pizza but seeing all of the cool animals and birds and reptiles was truly incredible and I have to say again the animals seemed very happy I didn't see any dirty animals I didn't see unhappy animals so thank u l a zoo for taking such good care of not only your establishment but the animals and I can't wait to come back again because I didn't get to see everything the first time. I would definitely definitely go here again.

I watched a Silver back gorilla poop a perfect snickers into his hand "tender morsel." He then enjoyed the tasty treat. That was damn near 35 years ago. It's seared into my mind - etched for eternity.

Pretty nice zoo. Layout a little confusing

I enjoyed the greenery almost as much as the animals.

If you are visiting from out of town and have a membership with your local zoo that offers reciprocity, be sure to have the details printed out or easily accessed on your phone. Admission staff don't seem aware of which zoos have this arrangement and it took quite some time to get the issue sorted.

It's a decent zoo, but I'd like to see the animals in more natural environments. The elephants look especially uncomfortable with their lack of space. It can also get really hot, so make sure to bring water and stop in the shade when you see it.

The zoo is just the right size for little ones. My kids are able to see all the animals in a day. We usually take our own lunch and sit in the playground area. It's busy during the school year due to field trips and the light show during Christmas season is super crowded.

We became members for the LA Zoo, we love this place, my son loves to run around and gets to know all of his favorite animals. They have a carousel, cute little foodcourts, my son is a fan of churros and icee. There are may events held at the zoo. We get heads up before events to plan ahead with their newsletters. Great investment, making memories.

Enjoyed our full day exploring the wonders of the LA Zoo. Such a variety of animals to see. I can't help but feel a bit bad though that the animals seem to not have a whole bunch of room. Decently clean park for fun of all ages, although we didn't want to eat anything in the park because the food service booths just didn't look sanitary although I'm sure they are.

This zoo while not as big and comprehensive as the San Diego Zoo is well done at half the cost. Kids will still have a good time as well as the rest of the family. It gets crowded but don't worry as the overflow parking lot is just across the street and parking is free. Membership is little more than two admissions but might be a good alternative if you live locally.

If you love animals this the place for you!

If you love animals this the place for you!
But you will have to walk quite a lot to see every animal.
There is a restaurant, vending machines, and bathrooms so you can take your time .
All together it's a nice time.

Went in the evening for the zoo lights event in December. Really nice for kids but this place gets really crowded and can get very cold in the evening. Make sure you have extra layers on stand by. You don't see any animals during the night event. Some stalls are overpriced but no other options are available as you can't get outside food or drinks.

The L.A.Zoo is Always a DELIGHT!! THE ZOO STAFF IS THE VERY BEST!!! EXCEPT THE "SERVICE AMERICA" MANAGERS!!! TWO NAMES OF THE MANAGEMENT STAFF TO WATCH OUT FOR ARE CESAR HERCULES AND AN OLD LADY NAMED NANCY!!!!! THEY ARE VINDICTIVE AND CHILDISHLY PETY. CESAR IS AN UNFAITHFUL HUSBAND, MESSING AROUND WITH FEMALE EMPLOYEES(FRANCHELE) OR WHATEVER THAT HOES NAME IS AND NANCY. SHE'S A WEAK PERSIN WHO IS "EASILY" MANIPULATED DUE TO HER LACK OF REAL(AMERICAN) PEOPLE INTERACTION!! She does speak English. Just not properly.

Located in Griffith Park. Tons of animals. Lots of walking. Small play park if you have kids. Petting zoo with sheep and goats. The World of Birds show is always entertaining. Big parking lot, but it fills up fast. Come early to avoid crowds. Bring a backpack with food and water so you don't have to rely on overpriced zoo offerings. Don't forget sun screen.

I love a place that is kid friendly that you can bring your whole family to and have a good time while making good memories. We took a lot of pictures of all the cool animals. Really enjoyed my day and the vast variety of animals on display. It is a great place to spend the day with your family. Plan on spending 2 to 3 hours and bring lots of water to stay hydrated. I wore slippers so my feet started to give out after an hour and a half. Make sure you wear good comfortable walking shoes.

Nice zoo. Viewing the animals is easier compared to other zoo's I've visited. A lot of the enclosures were closed and under construction. Maybe due to the time of year (Jan 1st). The terrain might be difficult for those in wheelchairs. There are some hilly areas. They do have a stroller and wheelchair rental area that looked like they had electric wheelchairs too. Lots of restrooms and they constantly had staff attending to them. Food prices are ridiculous so I would suggest bringing your own snacks. Buy the reusable cup for 5.99 as refills are 1.50 and sometimes free, just depends. I would give this zoo a 7 out of 10. Not the best but for sure not the worst. Well kept but lacking in animals and interactive exhibits. Free parking is lacking on holidays and I'm sure in the summer months too. Paid parking is $10.

What an amazing experience! I was a bit cynical going into it based on what I had heard from others, but we just LOVED the LA Zoo! The atmosphere was so pleasant, the exhibits were well maintained and the zoo was well cared for. My family and I had a great time. The gorillas were especially captivating. Thanks for the memories!

Only thing I strongly recommend try to book ahead of time I didn t and was a walk - in and had to wait 2 hrs to go inside zoo. I m still glad I went in and it made my kids Day ! I totally understand working under new guidelines is tough for everyone.
